I didn’t expect this to be so flowery. It’s a bit overpowering. Yellow flowers and Dr. Pepper.

It leans slightly to feminine scents. It’s all abouy cherry/vanilla/ylang and mild tobacco. Moderate performance.

i think this is my favorite of the elvira demeter scents. the opening is a lovely pipe tobacco with hints of vanilla and cherry. shortly thereafter i get the ylang ylang, which makes the scent even better. after about 5-10 more minutes i get the cannabis…which makes the scent even better! all the other elvira scents did not work for me, but this one is a keeper.

smoky/sweet menthol cherry pipe tobacco! This is spectacular! And no it does not smell like marijuana to me at all. The silage is pretty good for a Demeter scent but still quite skin close. The longevity is better then the average Demeter. I really wish they could make their scents more long lasting because they really are terrific.
UPDATE: this has lasted over 7 hours on my skin and towards the drydown it does kinda begin to smell like pot 😛

    Halloween Party Perfume
    Elvira Mistress Of The Dark
    Review For Zombie
    Zombie is composed of:
Ylang-ylang, red poppy, tobacco leaf, vanilla bean, cannabis and cherry.
    This is good stuff!
    Floral, incense, tobacco, vanilla, cannabis.
It throws out a lot of different incongruous notes with a decidedly unisex body. Zombie is a spicy smoky scent with minimal florals and sweet notes. This is a big tobacco scent on me but that’s not a bad thing. I would also call it more masculine than feminine but again that’s not a bad thing. Smells like smoke coming out of graveyards and zombies holding red poppies or ylang flowers while rising from their graves. That’s the image I have in my head when I smell this.
The dominant note is cannabis so if you are ok with how that smells – and we all know what that smells like – think of it as a smaller scale sweeter perfume version of it.
The sweet cherry and vanilla has a kind of spicy peppery smell and a bit like licorice or Dr. Pepper.
I happen to like Dr. Pepper, cherries and vanilla so this is pleasant for me.
The vanilla is there to keep everything casual, light-hearted and youthful. Any young guy or gal teens to 20 something year olds would pull this off well.
I’m in my 20’s and this scent matches up with my personality especially this time of year for Halloween.
Again the only issue I have with this fragrance and the other Elvira frags – Black Roses and Vamp – is the longevity. It’s a real amazing scent while it’s on you but it’s all gone in 30 minutes or less.
Wearable as a casual party scent day or night.
Exotic, spicy, smoky, but not heavy duty stuff. Very modern and very eccentric and sure to get attention.

This isn’t a typical Demeter fragrance. Most Demeters are light and disappear fast so you can spray pretty heavy and not offend anyone.
I bought a 4oz bottle of Zombie and when I spray it on, it leaves my skin slightly oily. It lasts longer than any other Demeter than I have tried (which might not be saying much).
The scent itself is thick and syrupy and sexy. I smell the sweet cherries, vanilla, and rich tobacco, which spices this up nicely. There are light florals there too. Other reviewers have mentioned this is dark and gothic. I get that. It may be the power of suggestion at work though, with this being an Elvira fragrance, but it doesn’t matter. This is good stuff, especially for nighttime…a night at the movies, a night out at the cemetery, a nighttime seance…you get the idea.

    FYI FRAGRANTICANS:
Over 400 DSL (Demeter Scent Library) scents are available in 10 ml rollerball and cologne sprays of 30 & 120 ml. depending on fragrance, are available BELIEVE IT OR NOT on a discount US consumer site called Fingerhut. (Their site is simply their name dot com)
Flabbergasted…and giggly with delight at the thought of my 1,200 USD credit limit (!!!)…I immediately began brainstorming and scribbling until I had my order down to Snow, Thunderstorm, Dirt, Funeral Parlor, Cannabis Flower and Black Bamboo-for me mum.
The rollerball format is IMHO the best way to go, when you’re dealing with an already sizeable collection. More akin to pure perfume it projects less but last longer and adds a sensuality to DSL I had not experienced previously.
I have not gone back to the retail site, but I am thinking that it’s a good time to add some new DSL titles to the fold. How a propos that the sexagenarian Elvira is leading the mob-darkly delicious and salacious, even in her undead form…
Yellow florals with hints of spice mingling with a sweet cherry tobacco, with all of it surrounded by a cannabis haze with hints of poppy?? YES PLEASE

Well if zombies smell like this fragrance I wouldn’t mind being attacked or bitten by a zombie! This is a delicious gorgeous rich fragrance that doesn’t even smell like a typical Demeter. I’m reminded that it is a Demeter because it has a painfully short life but it did last long enough for others to smell it on me during a party. This is absolutely perfect to wear to a Halloween party preferably right before you walk into the party so that the scent is fresh. And good thing the bottles are small enough to fit into my handbag. And then you can always reapply and spritz it on again after the scent is gone. This is a great addition to the Elvira Mistress of the Dark collection. She also has Black Roses which sells through the Demeter fragrance line and that is a very nice rose scent. This one is also a floral but it’s very different from Black Roses. Whereas Black Roses could still smell pretty sweet and girly this one is stronger, more masculine/unisex, spicier and aromatic. The tobacco note and the cannabis are the strongest accords. They really do stand out and are making this fragrance work. It’s smoky, but I mean the kind of smoke you inhale from marijuana (cannabis) and or the kind of smoke you get from smoking cigarettes. In a fragrance it’s not very realistic to the actual thing and it’s just a little bit like incense but it’s definitely a powerful tobacco scent. I feel that it give this fragrance enough power to make it a winner. People smelled it on me and thought it was incense. The red poppy and yellow ylang-ylang are there to provide it with a light floral touch and the cherry and vanilla with some sweetness. But in the end this is smoky tobacco and green herbal weed-like cannabis. I don’t see how it evokes a zombie but I guess you can use your imagination. It smells like Night of the Living Dead or the Michael Jackson MTV video Thriller LOL

Lovely cherry tobacco scent. Not sickening like those icky flavored cigars but sweet and narcotic with a little vanilla. I find it dark and gothic and a pleasant departure from the sugar sweet candy fruit fumes of today. Zombie is my favorite from the Demeter Elvira set. I’m used to vintage fragrances so I detect plenty of synthetics here and also absolutely no cannabis. But I love it, I really do!

I bought this as a set with all 3 Elvira’s from Demeter. This one in particular was my favorite and really stood out to me. It’s farely gothy and darkly. I like to wear this when I go on my ghost hunts. If I can’t attract a living being, hopefully this will help my attract a dead one, lol.

Mmmm….a sweet cherry tobacco scent to start out with, a hint of darkness to it in the first few spritzes, but it is very SEXY and wonderful. No cherry cough syrup accord (like a lot of cherry scents) but still a nice sweet cherry/vanilla/tobacco fragrance. The middle notes are a bit soapy and clean to my nose as the tobacco itself fades —I attribute this to the ylang coming through. It shows up clean, not too floral on my skin. The drydown is pretty much clean dryer sheets, which is also pleasant and a little strange. So many layers to this scent—far less linear than most Demeter scents. Longevity is about 3 hours, sillage is still fairly close to the skin. I’d be interested in trying the other 2 scents in the collection.

The listed notes are incorrect. As stated on Demeter’s site:
“Ylang Ylang and Red Poppies, grounded with Tobacco Leaves and Black Vanilla Bean, while taking flights of fancy with a frosty Methadone accord and powdery Coca Petals”
So no cannabis, and while I guess I can understand the substitution of cherry for “Methadone accord” for simplicity’s sake… well, it’s misleading. Coca leaves smell like tea…-ish, nothing too strange there.
This smells really nice! While it’s a tobacco scent, the tobacco doesn’t overpower. It doesn’t just smell like flavored pipe tobacco, which is a problem I find in many tobacco-containing scents, it’s a true blend. Instead of being a dark oriental scent, it’s actually quite sweet while still being restrained. The vanilla is a deep bourbon one, which pairs well with the rich tobacco note. I think the coca leaves might be in there, keeping the composition from feeling too syrupy. The poppy note is light and floral, not earthy as I thought it would be, considering the name. The ylang-ylang dominates the florals in this one, but it’s not so strong that it takes Zombie out of unisex territory. Finally, tying everything together is that faux-cherry methadone accord. Strange, but it works! It doesn’t smell *just* like methadone, but it smells closer to it than any normal cherry notes. It blends well with the tobacco, vanilla, and even the florals, and sweetens the whole things up.
It’s honestly pretty sexy and easy to wear. The longevity isn’t too great, typical of Demeter (they ARE eau de colognes), but come on. It’s Elvira! For a scent this unique, I’m totally willing to reapply more often!
