Vintage and decadent, in a good way. Not for those girlie-fruity lovers. This is a grown-up, classic, feminine scent for the romantic lady that we are. Soapy? Yes, but who cares?
And with the best flowers of Grasse, which is a plus.

A soapy citrus/floral of absolutely no interest. Money burned.

I’m sure it’s just me, but something in Ecoute Moi reminds me so much of Etat Libre d’Orange’s Secretions Magnifique that I don’t think I can fully appreciate it. On paper, it doesn’t look like they have that many notes in common, but on my skin, it smells like Secretions, minus the . . . umm, “secretions” notes. If I hadn’t already smelled and been repulsed by Secretions Magnifique, I’m sure I could have loved Ecoute Moi. The longevity and sillage are fantastic. It definitely has a vintage vibe and lots of warm base notes, which usually equate to a winner for me. Unfortunately, I have already made an unpleasant (and, it appears, permanent) association with some of the components of this scent that I cannot overcome.

I had a sample of around 30ml here and it couldn’t convince me. It’s flowery but not young. I found the scent extremely “old” and even a bit soapy-powdery. Like soap I would imagine in an old ladies house. It wasn’t my sort of scent.

I got a big blast of aldehydes in the top notes! (…even though they aren’t listed.) The opening felt like an old-fashioned classic floral aldehyde in the style of Hermes – Caleche EDT. It felt very fresh and a bit citrusy. As it dried down on my skin, it felt more like a chypre. The base was a little soapy, woody, and earthy.
Looking at the notes, I am really surprised at how this fragrance unfolded. I would have expected something entirely different from the notes.
The bottom line is I love it! It feels classic, and fresh in an earthy sort of way. But in no way does it feel like a modern oriental-floral. This has a very vintage vibe to it.
