“Romantic” smells like a simple, quieter version of TM Angel. I get sweet, patchouli, and oud on the drydown. It’s soft and uncomplex, a step above a Bath and Body Works splash, like Sensual Amber. (received a sample from Sephora)

This one does not remind me of Mugler’s Angel at all. I also don’t get popcorn. What I do get is a nice, fruity, chocolatey patchouli.
The longevity and sillage could be better with this though. I really like it but there is one note that holds me back from buying. I”m not sure what it is because there are so few notes listed, but to me it smells like civet.

Opening: 100% cookie. Gourmand. Then something generic, selebrity-like. Meah.

I smell something sweet like honey. Too sweet to my taste. I agree with one of the reviewers that it somewhat reminds Angel perfume.

One of the few times I was wise and didn’t blind buy a bottle of this fabulous sounding perfume, and I am so glad for it!
My carded sample arrived and the description on it reads:
Chypree gourmand: crumble- mocha&rose – patchouli.
I wholeheartedly agree, this is a rosy chypre, one of the categories I am not into at this time in my life (back in my 20s I loved chypres and unsweetened frags, now I shamelessly gravitate towards gourmands and warm orientals).
On my skin there is no popcorn, no sweet chocolate or cocoa. The only edible or gourmand element is that of a biscuit like accord in the beginning, perhaps that’s what they call crumble in the description, but after 10 minutes it’s gone.
Apart from the crumble, ultimately I get a very sophisticated modern chypre, powdery, that reminds me of the new Cartier La Panthere (not the vintage) plus some earthy patchouli (which can have some chocolate nuances, but come on!)
It’s very soft, ladylike, likeable, serious. NOT a powerhouse gourmand, not sweet or particularly playful on my skin, no chocolate in any shape or form.
From the middle notes and towards the drydown I get a powdery makeup vibe, that also reminds me of Stephane Humbert Lucas’ Khol de Bahrain, only that one has more salty ambergris and iris.
Overall I do find Romantic fitting to its name. It’s not trashy, it’s nuanced. Very ladylike and soft. Not for me lol.

I wish I was getting buttered popcorn. All I smell is another Angel variation of over-sugared chemical patchouli. On the off-chance that the Sephora clerk labeled my sample incorrectly, I’ll try it again in store, but I’m afraid this is really nothing but a quieter version of Angel – which I can’t stand – on my skin.

lovely! sweet at the beginning and it becomes more mysterious and sexy overtime.

Woah! The opening of this scent is extremely foodie! It smells almost EXACTLY like popcorn & chocolate sauce. I wouldn’t exactly describe this scent as “romantic”, it’s much more playful than anything.
It’s quite salty on the initial opening, then settles in about 3 minutes into a warm, buttery popcorn. The chocolate is there, more in the background, but it’s there. It’s a very saucy chocolate, not dark but sweeter and milkier. After drydown, which is about 15 minutes after first spritz, the foodiness lightens up and it becomes a light floral & patch combo, still sweetened by the other notes. it reminds me a bit of Miss Dior (2011 and 2012) I’m wondering if it smells like the original (which I’ve never tested) It also has a twinge of My Burberry.
The sillage is light/moderate, I wish it was a little stronger. It’s a really nice perfume, great for a night out to the movies or a first date for a youthful couple. 🙂
