This one is so lovely but hard to describe.
It starts with a blast of pleasantly sour grapefruit. That is quickly followed by something almost edible, but not sweet smelling. Could this be black currant? I don’t really know. It just smells yummy, literally makes my mouth water. The drydown is slightly floral, but not much, just a whisper. Overall,it is awesome, but I can’t put my finger on why exactly I like it. I would solidly place my taste in the corner marked “fresh fruity floral”. I don’t like anything to heavy or spicy, but this lady has some heft to her and leaves an impression on the wearer, but not on those around her. I will cherish this small decant brought back from Paris by a dear student whose mother is also scent obsessed.

During a recent visit to the Fragonard atelier, I was saddened to learn that it has been discontinued. The France’s burst of citrus and currant never ceases to put me in a good mood. Eau Fantasque is light, but not lacking of presence; soft but not sweet. It is a warm weather fragrance and worth trying…while you can find it.

Very nice smelling natural blackcurrant scent! I like it:) It’s nice.
And I don’t think that it reminds In Love Again by Yves Saint Laurent too much, because the last one is more complex. This one is lighter also. But the blackcurrant and grapefruit notes make them alike.

A very summery scent of freshly picked blackcurrants opening up the bouquet. Although some say that it is not long lasting, the tender sweetness and spiciness lingers for the most part of 6-7 hours. Just because it comes on very strong in the beginning, the trail is almost ethereal and airy.

This is a very unique fragrance, very fresh and uplifting, green and sweet at the same time! It doesn’t last though, but I guess I would still buy a bigger bottle for it makes me feel good!

Playful, balanced composition. Uplifting, breezy grapefruit aroma with green overtone in the beginning, blackcurrant and jasmine sweetens the scent. The last phase is the opposit of the greenish beginning: a pleasant, sweet, deep fruity nuance with tone of hyachint and a hint of amber.
Highness and deepness, cool and warm in the same time.Brilliant composition.
Well-balanced fragrance, youthful creation.
(I have YSL In love again but it’s much loud and more dynamic fragrance.)

One minute I’m getting lovely flowers, then the next grapefruit and black currant. This is a beautifully balanced scent, clean and fresh and so unique.

I had a bit of a giggle when this beautiful, mysterious French name, Eau Fantasque was nicely translated into ‘odd water’.
I’d like to begin this review by saying that this fragrance is a little bit like odd water. It’s citrusy water, to be exact, grapefruit water with a hint of jammy black currant and soapy freesia.
Refreshing, but not sweet like you might expect. It’s nice and crisp without being too complex. Honestly, up close, this fragrance is a little too much, but from a distance, this is quite a pleasant Summery find.
A touch green, but not overly so. It’s mostly citrus scented soap to my nose. I’d actually recommend this to both men and women, there’s nothing that screams pretty femininity here. I applaud Jae for already noting this.
It might be watery, crisp, and at times transparent, but Eau Fantasque seems very natural on the skin. I’m pleased to say that it doesn’t remind me of candy or detergent.
In the EDT concentration, the sillage and lasting strength are not bad. I don’t think I’d want anything overpowering from this fragrance, it suits those hot Summer days nicely.

Very fresh, clean, cheerful, citrusy, this easy to like fragrance is very pretty, but on me too light. I keep topping up and still the scent continually manages to transpire really quickly…which really is a shame, as it seems to seamlessly develop from simple burst of juicy, jolly grapefruit into warm, sour-sweet amber/flowery deliciousness. And by sour-sweet I don’t mean edible, this is really quite sophisticated. :-). I like it, but will put it aside for testing in the summer when the heat might keep the scent alive for longer…

I received a mini-sampler yesterday (thanks, nathaliez!!). Out of the 5 sampled, Eau Fantasque stood out and impressed me. There isn’t much in this fragrance, as far as notes are concerned. But this composition is so well-balanced and it blends in with my skin chemistry to produce a crisp, floral-fruity scent. I’d also like to add that this has a pretty nice sillage and EXCELLENT lasting power. This happens to be one that I’d rather enjoy on myself than on a woman. Maybe she should be wearing Baroque, instead.

Such a clean and pure-smelling scent! The fresh floral cocktail with grapefruit and black currant(my favorite)but goes deep due to the amber. The grapefruit in particular is very crisp and refreshing and gives the scent a rather green character. It`s a good name for a fantastic Fragonard scent!
