On me, this is acrid vanilla the first half hour to an hour. Citrus – what citrus? Where? Rather, there is an alcoholic sharpness that I am not used to with Guerlains… Very harsh and uninviting. An hour into the wearing, the bitterness gets under control a bit, and the vanilla becomes a little more tame – powdery and a bit peppery. Still not a like, though. I was hoping that a Guerlain vanilla would convert me to enjoy vanilla scents, but unfortunately, even expensive vanilla just doesn’t deal well with my nose.

Puffs of lemony powder. Soft and delicate. This perfume is completely delicious and I might even prefer it to the original! Gasp!

This was a blind buy for me after finding Shalimar Initial to be discontinued. I ordered it and hoped for the best , and I can honestly say it is wonderful and an impressive creation .
It has the essential Shalimar notes ( no burned rubber opening ) to remind me it is Shalimar. However , it is softer , warmer and just as long lasting . I love that it is NOT TOO SWEET , nor does it smell like a cookie. The citrus and vanilla give it a fresh vibe , and the powder softens it and keeps the old fashioned vibe alive . Guerlain really got it right on this one ! I consider this a great value for a quality fragrance that will appeal to women who like to smell feminine and sophisticated . On top of that , the bottle is gorgeous enough to set next to my bed , instead of in the bathroom.
This fragrance is so lovely I am ordering a second bottle as a backup and another as a gift for a dear friend . It is perfume perfection , and I own a lot of perfume .

This was a blind-buy for me and unfortunately I had to return :/ I was really looking forward to this fragrance since I love citrus and vanilla notes. However, I never got any citrus when I used this! Instead, it smelled overwhemling-ly of powder, which is a huge negative for me. I also might just have an un-trained nose, but I didn’t smell any dry down progression. Just straight-up sweet powder. Only positive (for people who like this scent) is that it had amazing longevity…I could smell it after twenty-four hours.

I’m always on the fence with the original Shalimar. Don’t love it, don’t hate it. So Eau de Shalimar’s resemblance to the original is not important to me.
And I do really love Eau de Shalimar, especially for the texture. It has a light, polished powdery feel, like a silken veil that just warms and lightly scents the air around me. EdeS feels slightly retro – maybe the subtle note of iris contributes to that – but does not smell dated or costume-y. EdeS is elegant but not cold, gently sweet but not too gourmand (I generally dislike gourmands).
(I don’t love the opening; I find the ‘lime’ note artificial and slightly – but weirdly – bitter. Or maybe that’s the bergamot. )
Three spritzes is enough for me and lasts all day. More than that and I feel stifled; the veil becomes a blanket.

While I can completely understand people saying that this doesn’t remind them of Shalimar, I find myself respectfully disagreeing. This is Shalimar’s youthful sister to me, with the innocence to match. It’s sweet, bubbly and just a bit alluring. It’s far from my favourite Shalimar but I love to wear it in any weather. It reminds me key lime pie, with a lot of vanilla essence. I can’t say much more other than ‘I love it!’

Eau de Shalimar is beautiful. Everything from its aroma to its bottle screams elegance. I’m sad that this is being discontinued–there are so many fragrances out there that aren’t worth their salt, it’s just not right that they get to exist and EDS can’t.
First spray: this comes out fizzy and lime-laden. It’s literally like opening a can of lime pop. I can almost feel the fizzes prickle my nose when I inhale. The vanilla makes a subdued entrance and stays firmly behind the lime. It’s sweet enough to make this Shalimar smell delicious, but unintrusive and refined. It’s a masterfully done flanker.
If you love gourmands, try this.

This is a much lighter version of the original. My 5 year old told me I smelled like a vanilla cupcake! I get soft citrus, vanilla and powder. It’s nice enough for me!

I was looking for a lighter version of Shalimar with prominent citrus. This is just perfect. Lovely lemon, bergamot and vanilla. Smells almost like a lemon dessert initially. This works for me.

It never ceases to amaze me when wonderful fragrances like this are pulled. Did the Guerlain marketing department do an inadequate job advertising this, or is the problem low sales due to the fact that the Shalimar name is attached, and people are weary of flankers?
In my opinion, Eau De Shalimar EDT has little in common with the original. It might have done better if it was given an entirely new Guerlain name and flacon design. Gone is the sandalwood, leather and incense which is what Shalimar is all about really. Eau de Shalimar is a delightfully surprising citrusy fragrance with vanilla playing peek-a-boo a few seconds behind. Each time I catch a whiff of the citrus, there is the sweet aftertaste surprising me. It’s a magic trick known only to master Perfumers I’m sure. Well done Guerlain on creating this beautiful scent, but shame on you for taking it away from me.
If you are considering buying this discontinued beauty, you had better hurry.

This is pretty much the “lemon pound cake” version of the original Shalimar. Yes, I would classify this fragrance as a “gourmand,” but it still smells like something that would belong in the Shalimar family. If you hate the original Shalimar, I don’t think that this version of it would convert you. If you love the original Shalimar, I think you’ll enjoy this one.
If you are like me, though … You will love this perfume. I enjoy the original Shalimar very much, but it always seems to feel too heavy on me whenever I wear it. This lighter version of it allows me to enjoy the “gist” of the original Shalimar without it seeming too heavy or cloying for me– the best of both worlds. I have very fond memories of my grandmother wearing Shalimar, so I am very happy about finding a version of it that works for me. 🙂
I would also add that if you are someone who loves gourmands but doesn’t want to smell immature or like cotton candy, then I highly recommend this perfume.

I’m a big fan of original Shalimar. This is similar I suppose but the most striking resemblance is to Jean Nate. They both sparkle with abstract citrus for a few minutes before resolving to a heart of gauzy, inedible vanilla. To emphasize, Eau de Shalimar’s citrus opening doesn’t linger for long and that’s the part where it bears the strongest resemblance to mother Shalimar.
I might prefer Nate’s second act to Eau de Shalimar’s, actually. The former is more powdery and has kind of a brightness to it that I enjoy while the latter smells more subdued and medicinal, almost like a scented lotion. In the deep dry down, Eau de Shalimar starts to resemble Jicky.
I’m perhaps a little disappointed. I think Shalimar Parfum Initial is a better update of the classic for modern tastes and preserves more of Shalimar’s soul in a way that’s still approachable and so that would be my recommendation for those who find full-flavored Shalimar difficult to wear.

This is lovely stuff. Light and fresh, with a nice citrus-vanilla finish. Good for summer and for daytime. I have no complaints, but as a newcomer, I have nothing with which to compare.

  14. :

Wonderful, fluffy citrus and vanille. Lighter than the grande dame Shalimar. No leather or noticeable Guerlainade. Lovely, powdery iris gives it a fluffy feeling. Not too sweet but certainly not a “dry” perfume. Ellen Tracy Bronze is very similar but sweeter and less refined. I am so happy that I got the largest bottle available.

I smell orange peels in the beginning, lots of it. Vanilla not shows up until the end, and it’s a beautiful sweetness. I like it.

I think Eau is just much better balanced version of classic Shalimar edp, more on the sour-sweet bergamot side, mixed with delicate vanilla and resins it reminds me of lemon curd. Citrusy, yet sweet, balsamic but not too heavy and nauseting, much more natural and subtle than edp. I was surprised about longetivity- at least 7hrs. Definetely my favorite of Shalimar family so far.

  18. :

Apart from Shalimar Souffle De parfum intense, this is easily my favourite Shalimar fragrance.
I found the original EDP and EDT although beautiful, a little oily and heavy, the dry down being their saving grace…and then they’re magnificent. But this one is gorgeous, ethereal, fresh and vanilla from the start.
It’s beautiful and unique, and will only become more of a stand out in a market that favours screeching fruits, synthetic confectionery and artificial resinous woods.

  19. :

I feel like this is the best Shalimar i’ve ever tried
not so powdery and “burning aroma” like the original
not so sweet and thick like the souffle
not so strange like the initial shalimar
at the beginning it is fresh citrus smell
lemon and lime with a hint of Guerlain’s vanilla
then it fades to the typical Gerlain vanilla and the iris makes an entrance
anyway, it’s a lighter and more easy-going version of the original
and could be worn in any occasion
not so “hot” as the original one
    this one is colder

    SHALIMAR!
She is incredible in every form and tribute, including and perhaps especially the Eau. The citrus IS amped-up, the vanilla softer. Eau de Shalimar is incredibly beautiful. I can’t even fully articulate the love that I *immediately* have for her.
Specifically, if you’ve tried the Grande Dame, Shalimar eau de parfum (and higher concentrations) but found something in her a bit overwhelming at this time in your fragrance journey, Eau de Shalimar may be far more to your liking. She is Shalimar’s younger, casual sister. Elegant but at ease; classic white-cotton v-neck t-shirt, dark denim skinny-jeans, a natural Mediterranean beauty whose breezy personality draws you in and welcomes you to be at ease, all in the same delicately-citric breath. The gentle citrus is, indeed, the leader in this refreshing, easy-going flanker, whose leather, incense, and civet are more conservatively employed, lightening up the mood and demeanor of this polarizing, inimitable classic and affording the wearer a confident, comfortable elegance. Delightful, as always!

Wow the wonderful citrus notes of some of the old Guerlain colognes so tart and refreshing and clean. I love to layer this with the darker smokier Shalimars for a brightening effect and the heavier Shalimars can supply the richer base

    Wow..
    Received this today. Very interesting…..
At first spritz….I get the citrus…lime/bergamot/mandarin/alcohol-ish….then I find later underneath…vanilla…then the iris/rose combo…lightly…I guess the resins hold/balance all these together. I do not get that Shalimar original DNA at all. I find this very unisex….kinda fresh/clean vibe…touch of sweetness too. Maybe even a little Habit Rouge vibe…???…. Really different from other Shalimar flankers. I did NOT NOT like Souffle de Parfum!! This is not like that one or any of the Initials…(thank God). This one on me, has moderate projection/sillage…light airy..with a “zing”. To my nose, the rose in this is ….???..where is it?? LOL.But I do get the Iris vibe.
Final thoughts….I really like it !!
EDIT: Hmmm..now that it’s drying down…the original Shalimar DNA is lightly coming out…wow….it’s even better than I thought !!!!!!!
EDIT 2: Eau de Shalimar is not lasting on me !! I think I will finally break down and get a good ole’ original Shalimar EDT to use for layering when I need extra “ooomph” in my life…lol

My favorite of all the Shalimar. This comes close to being what I remember of the vintage Shalimar. Opens with citrus and on me, goes straight to the base. The resin sets this apart from most anything else I own and the iris keeps things a touch powdery. Light enough to wear during the summer or year round. Lasts about three, maybe four hours with good projection. I once thought it reminded me of Jean Nate with iris and vanilla. Good stuff.

There’s no fragrance I love more than the original Shalimar, but ED Shalimar runs a close second. This is both for those who love the iconic Shalimar, and for those who want to give it a try. I don’t see how anyone could hate this version, really. It’s fresh, sweet (not too sweet) and suited for hot weather. It makes me enjoy the brilliantly sunny days more and it lifts my spirits on the gloomy ones. I’m going to miss it because, of course, it’s been discontinued.
I strongly believe that Guerlain house makes some of the best perfumes, so I can’t for the life of me understand why they keep discontinuing beautiful fragrances like this one.

Absolutley lovely, the freshnes of the citrus and the bones of the Shalimar go amazingly well for summer days. Love it!

After watching a review by a youtuber that I don’t always like, but find to be refreshingly honest and unpretentious, I decided to try this. She stated that under the impression that this would be similar to a previous edition of Shalimar, she purchased this only to find it smelt of lemon candy.
Now, I whole heartedly agree with that statement – it really, truly does. However, Shalimar is definitely there. I’ve only worn this in late Autumn, early Winter.. I can’t exactly speak from true experience, but I love this. It lasts so long, and is quite strong.

Hm. I have had this awhile and I have come to appreciate a few things. That puff of powder with each spritz. Does any other perfume do that? I mean it doesn’t just become powdery on the skin, instead its like you are spritzing powder in a nice little cloud which happens to be in the direction of your skin. The quality is unmistakable. I even like the resins too which at first I thought were too masculine, too dusty. But now I find that incredibly comforting as well. I bought this version for the Florida heat, and find I am really loving it. Kind of snuck up on me, this appreciation.

  28. :

I find this to be a sweeter, sunnier Shalimar, just what I was looking for.
I still love original Shalimar for every other season but high summer, and I think a few light sprays of this will be lovely on those short summer nights.
The metallic citrus opening reminds me of original Shalimar–so much so that I worried it would not perform as I hoped and expected. I was foolish to doubt this flanker. As it dries the vanilla and sweet citrus rise to the front with an ambery base that provides a solid foundation for the airy, whipped cream delectability that swirls around on top.
It is a Shalimar, after all, so it’s deeper and more complex than other candy sweet gourmands I’ve smelled, but I truly get a rich lemon custard vibe from it.
It doesn’t have the longevity and sillage of the original, but since O.G. Shalimar is downright legendary in those respects, I wasn’t expecting it to.
UPDATE: I have been wearing this in the chilly November air, and it is still lovely! The bright lemon dessert and pale amber shine in the cold.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

A simplified Shalimar with a blast of bright, not-too-tart lime. This is an easy-going Shalimar, content to work its subtle magic within an arm’s distance. There’s none of Shalimar’s smoke or leather or animal or wood. Instead, this perfume evokes memories of Shalimar in its powder and citrus.
Eau de Shalimar isn’t a powerhouse, but it’s enjoyable and worthy of a spot in the office scents rotation.

  30. :

The first smell is like lemon cake with vanille sugar. It´s very fresh and I like it because it´s the shalimar I can wear in hotter weather.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

I’d round off the previous comments by saying that indeed it is the “summer” version for Shalimar, much more wearable in warmer climates/weather, it is much less animalic, warm and leathery obviously as one would expect…the only downside for me is that it’s a bit too mellowed down…It remains close to the skin, it has a low projection. There nothing wrong with that, I just thought that some of you might want to know that.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I bought this simply because I wanted something similar to Shalimar that could easily be worn in warm weather. This is not mind blowing like the original but it has some similarities. I also find it similar to Emeraude by Coty except not as mature and more interesting. The scent I like; however the performance is not so great.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

I’m not impressed with the modern Shalimar – but I thought I would give this one a try since I love citrus. I wasn’t sure about the citrus/vanilla combination, but I figured if anyone can make it work, it’s Guerlain. Really all I get is lemon chiffon on top of vanilla – they didn’t seem to add enough complexity to smooth out the edges. Also, I found the lemon screechy and the vanilla harsh, synthetic and loud, so the whole concoction smells cheap and thrown together to me. If the lemon opening had been softer and creamier, and the vanilla and had been quieter and more natural, this may have been a winner. I expected a little more from Guerlain.

  34. :

This certainly possesses a vintage edge to it, much like original Shalimar. What differs Eau from the original is mostly the wearability. Where the original is coarse, smokey, dry and prickly, Eau is smoother, more innocent and offers a more edible vanilla. The opening is particularly classy, with an astringent, slightly bitter lime and bergamot. It’s the dry down that made me fall in love, the vanilla is unique, patchy and obviously similar to the original’s vanilla, toned down. As a gourmand lover I would place this in between gourmand and oriental classy vanilla, as this is the more edible of the Shalimars yet not literally cake like. Either way, this is a must try even for original Shalimar haters. This might be the level of classy wearability that does it for you.

I just felt in love with it, just as with the Parfum Initial! First I feel lemon, and some vanilla, and these are beautiful blended! Than I feel the base of the classic Shalimar but just as much as not to bother me, the oriental base of resin gives him some deep and mistery to the fluffy citrus notes. The old Shalimar is there..and it is still not there. So don’t worry! If the classic is too much for you with too much leather, here you have Eau de Shalimar! Perfect for sommer, or spring, or wherever do you want to wear it.
It is fluffy but also very elegant!
After awhile the citrus notes calm down and beautiful elegant and sensual flowers are blooming on the same oriental base.

Lemon hubig pies….and that is NOT an Insult. This is magnificent and just as long lasting as the edp, on me.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

My favorite Shalimar so far, all dessert, less flapper .Save the real Shalimar for when you want to be naughty, this one is more wearable and socially acceptable. Its like the flappers ingenue sis who hasn’t been corrupted by cigs, tobacco and the Charleston yet. I like the lime cake aspect, the oil/dirty hair aspect of original Shalimar is barely perceptible.

  38. :

Dec.5,30-some degrees outside, This seems to be excellent weather for wearing eau de shalimar (yes, I do wear this year round.) The lime is very much present but the vanilla/resin is much more detectable, (as it dries down the lime calms and you smell more vanilla!!
Warmer weather definitely brings the citrus notes more to life.

  39. :

I was so hopeful about this perfume. I wanted something Shalimar-esque without being to heavy or old fashioned. This is one bottle I will not be wearing ever. Just to heavy. Where is the soft vanilla and lime. I smell nothing but spicy woods, no florals or softness. Color me bummed.

  40. :

Lemon pie, vanilla cookie and makeup powder. Modest but beautiful.
Eau de Shalimar is the best choice for anyone who adore Shalimar but can’t wear it in hot days. It’s Shalimar without leather and incense. I really love it.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

This is a beautiful “gateway” Shalimar. I don’t own any of the more intense concentrations, just this and Shalimar eau de cologne. Both are gorgeous creations. For cooler weather, I have the EdC. This one (Eau de Shalimar) is so fluffy and light and perfectly blended, and perfect for warmer weather. I spray a good amount and it creates a pleasant but unobtrusive cloud. This is a good perfume to wear when you don’t feel like wearing perfume. The opening is lime zest. I don’t really get roses or jasmine but I do get a realistic, whipped vanilla in the heart and drydown. The overall feeling is chic and put together, not overdone.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I have become a Shalimar’s flankers fun but I still do not own the original first version of it, and I am wearing by itself this Eau version of it and I am quite pleased of how it performs, IMO is very unisex and easy to wear, the rose not it was the first one discovered by my coworker, but is not that powdery rose, and over all I liked it and will keep it in my collection.

  43. :

Well… this is better than Souffle… which I found weak and dusty… This is better.
A powdery lemon vanilla cookie! With average-kinda-weak sillage/potency… but stronger than Souffle.
Def just a tiny shade of previous Shalimars.
    Overall, I do like it.
I layered it over the Shal EDT and loved the result. It oomphed up the EDT and both lasted as a skin-aura around me until the next morning.
But- if you love Shalimar and must have them all– this is average at best.

  44. :

I love this! I have been reaching it for a lot lately, day and night. There are great reviews describing the specifics, so I’ll just say it is a perfect blend of the notes described with a special emphasis on lime and vanilla, notes I am not normally drawn to. I love Souffle, and I am starting to really love this one as well. It smells like a modern, softer, prettier version of Coty’s Emeraude.

  45. :

I’m thinking of a candle made from hard lemon candies, burning lightly. (Although in this case, it would be lime, instead of lemon) You will smell lime rather than a basic “citrus” scent. The vanilla and resin combine and remind me of candle in a good, “perfumey” way. Maybe a hint of powderyness from the iris? On me, I smell more of the resin note, however, when my sister wears this, it smells like creamy, powdery, lime candy.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

A perfect “summer weight” Shalimar that smells like a cross between lemon meringue and key lime pie with all the soft vanilla deliciousness of original Shalimar. I get 6-7 hour longevity before it becomes a skin scent but I think that’s about right for a summer scent. It’s so humid here in Kentucky that perspiration tends to wash fragrance away rather quickly. Lots of compliments, all variations of “You smell edible!”

  47. :

My sister sent me a sample of this and I fell in love with it. I ordered a bottle and it arrived today. I am over the moon! This is one of the most beautiful scents in my collection. Summery, but not the same old same old citrus scent. And it lasts!

Wouldn’t think I care for Lime coupled with Vanilla, neither tend to be atop my favorite notes list. However, Guerlain is changing my tune on vanilla .. at least in a Guerlain. Want to pass on some of that smokey Shalimar? Weather a bit too warm for that? Maybe go a bit unisex? I say that because often I’ll wear a str8 up feminine but this is a different powdery. I have men fragrances that fall into the range. Citruses are working for me here and, again, causing me to feel much more open to citrus in a leading role. I love how the rose and jasmine aren’t detectable to me (much better sniffing a rose than jasmine and identifying). It’s all about a crisp lime and citrus paired surprisingly well with the sweetness of vanilla. May also be the other players like the balsams that create this harmonic accord. I do feel this would be considered both male and female if it were, say, a Middle Eastern fume. No huge analysis here but I’ll remember that I very much like this on a warmer day. Nothing wrong with a stripped down Shalimar. After all, that’s what you do when it heats up .. you strip down. Everything need not and, indeed, cannot be a masterpiece without compromising what that means. Some fragrances are fine just being of superior quality.

After the first ‘wrong’ bottle of this (see my review below) I started hunting for the older version in the bottle without the ‘foot’. Ordered one (or I though I did) on solippy.co.uk. The picture showed the old version but what came was the same new version I had had before, on the foot but the ribbon was navy blue, not white. And guess what – it is a much better version. Nicer, stronger and much-much longer lasting. The lime is quite natural and the vanilla is beautiful! It is a real Guerlain vanilla as in other Shalimars. I am very happy I’ve got the right one finally!

I got a great deal on a bottle of this from a perfume outlet, only bottle they had and the young sales girl didn’t even know what it was–no price so she priced it for me very low (it was at about 98%). I want to love this, know I should love this, it’s a classic…but I just cannot get past what I smell as a medicinal band-aid. And thats all I recognize- does anyone else smell this?

ohh how i miss this beauty . I had the od style bottle and it was such a treat bouth to eye and on my skin . Somehow i was stupid enough to swapp it away 🙁 Now i miss it so much . I realy enjoy the vanilla citrus lime twist this brings on skin , and the powderyness sigh its such a treat , But be carefull to not put to much on , it might be to much of a good thing 😉
But a few sprits and this will linger around you and make you smile and feal uplifted for hours .

I would like to leave this review as a warning probably. To start with, I love the Guerlain house and especially love the Shalimar flankers (I have 2 adorable Initials). So after reading your reviews here I was almost sure it would be a safe blind buy for me. Got a brand new full 90 ml bottle from the fragrance seller off the UK Ebay to stock up as they had been discontinued.
Well, the bottle (like the main picture here, on the ‘foot’ with white ribbon) did give the initial splash on the second push, not the 3rd of 4th as usual. I thought it was strange. But the worst was the fragrance. The strong initial lime blast was very chemical, after about 20 minutes the fragrance (even put on generously) would disappear and then in a while come back so quiet that I had to press my nose to skin to smell some faint sweetish lime food flavouring. Like this it stayed for a couple of hours. The bottle went back to the seller. They accepted the return with no fuss, I should give it to them. I have a feeling that this might be a fake or some kind of a ‘grey’ production of the factory. Not sure but it definitely is not right. Just thought I’d let the others know.
I’ll try to hunt down the original now in the bottle like the one in the top right picture (no ‘foot’), it’s supposed to be the older formula and heavier on resins. Really curious to try this properly

This one smells like key-lime pie in the opening, a bright, slightly oriental citrus with a bergamot edge. A little while in I get more spice, light musk, almost an incensey spice (probably the resin), but not vanilla like Shalimar edp. Still thinking about this one, not sure I want to smell like key lime pie.

Great perfume! Eau de Shalimar is a balance to the sultry and a scarf for álgidos days. Yes, it works in the heat and cold and the satisfaction of other delight this fragrance. To this day I walk looking for a Guerlain NOT pay / serve, [laughs] … it is not possible, how can one be so exceptional in Maison absolutely all his creations ?! (I speak for me, from the perception that I have in the trials, as well as acquisitions of fragrances House) Everything we create is the most high-profile of the qualities 1000, outside the sui generis attributes of the House that we call “guerlainidade” it needs no comment. Eau de Shalimar was launched in 2008 and is an eminent creation Jean Paul Guerlain, who like all his creations can perpetuate the timeless classics to without falling into monotony of sausages water compared to the varied creations today. The fragrance opens quite citrus, a mix of oranges and lemons sweetened naturally fructose same thing, nothing artificial additive in its opening, beautiful thing to feel. This mix evolves into a floral heart of Rose and Jasmine and give a fresh lemon pie aspect that is cause salivation; your heart is enduring and which yields most praise for the fragrance. Finally comes the footprint “guerlain” to be where the touch of makeup by Iris joins the sweetness of vanilla fleeing the cooking characteristics, forming a dry resinous feeling, but at the same refreshing time, because of the notes citrus mix between Lemon and Orange its opening that last up to its base. Definitely a fragrance to call “my”, which deserves applause and confetti. It looks good in any weather and decorates at any time, ditto. Besides the slight feeling you have, fixed and design absurdly well, never known anything in the line of citrus that could match.
Word of the day: self-assertion… (day 11)

This is beautiful, vintage meets contemporary lady in style. Incense and vanilla with hints of citrus. Roses and violets in perfect composition add to that powdery feel.
Can’t get enough of it lately 🙂 If you think original Shalimar is too strong or for evening occasions only, this is worth a try, I like this for day or night.
It’s classy and powdery, nostalgic, and smells wonderful.
Moderate silage, 3-4 hours, can still smell it close to skin, warm powdery vanilla. Price wise very affordable.

I think I’m going to get a lot of stink eye for this but this perfume literally smells to me like Pink Sugar’s older sister. Or Pink Sugar a la grown up. A sophisticated version of my once-signature, favorite, perfume.
Pink Sugar worked SO well against my skin, and it garnered several reactions from people, even strangers, and they were usually positive — but it was always noticed on me. I was known by my scent by some people I used to live around; on one occasion some acquaintances who lived on the floor below me let me know that they knew I had just been in the elevator because they could smell I was there… haha. Anyway, my point is that after the first day I wore Eau De Shalimar, I received two compliments, one from an older man who told me it reminded him of a woman he used to date when he was young, and another from a woman who was intrigued by it and came to ask me what I was wearing. I told her, of course. It’s interesting to think that the scents we choose to wear can conjure up memories from one’s past, and that this could subconsciously (or consciously) influence their reaction to or opinion of us. Moving on…
It also smells a lot like Prada Candy to me; I think the similarities in all of these perfumes (and why they happen to work the best with my skin chemistry) is because of the resinous and musky notes in combo with the intense gourmand-y sweetness.
This is the most beautiful perfume I’ve ever laid my nose on. And it smells just as gorgeous on my skin. It is sweet, but the sweetness is akin to a lemon cake, vs a chocolate cake. I should mention that I do feel little bit like a lemon tart as I wear this rn. It is so well-balanced; the citruses, which I normally do not prefer, are not at all sharp, but definitely present. I presume that they are rounded out so well by the powdery-ness of the flowers, which don’t express themselves as your typical florals do, but add to the powdery and sweet scent of this perfume. It is indeed very powdery, but no young person should be intimidated by that fact because it doesn’t come off as baby-powder powdery and I don’t associate it at all with my grandma. The powder notes in this simply add depth and make the citruses more soft and easy to wear. La
