I can’t for the life of me understand why there are so few reviews of this one – it must mean it was never very popular, and it’s such a nice, easy to like fragrance! The bottle fits the scent perfectly, I think: it’s not oriental to my nose, more like a mature, very well-made tropical fruity-floral with modest gourmand leanings. The scent is dominated by a lovely mango note, underscored by heady flowers and made a little sweeter and richer by subdued vanilla and sandalwood. Very comfortable and pleasant, but complex enough not to become boring. Not quite a love for me personally, but I really enjoyed my sample, and it’s certainly perfect for a cooler day in summer like today. Do try it if you get the chance!

A perfect warm weather oriental. I don’t smell any grapefruit at all. I get a soft, creamy floral with a touch of mango and a very subtle sweetness. It’s very, very nice and exceptionally balanced.

It’s more floral-fruity to me, or summer oriental… I never thought there are orientals perfect for summer. Well, this one is! Lovely feminine, light, stays close to the skin for hours. Yes, mango smells really gourmand, in dry down I feel creamy sandalwood and vanilla, and still feels mango, adorable!

One of the good orientals. (Yes, there are some).
Not bad at all for women who like this kind of perfume.

Balmain EAU D’AMAZONIE is a truly scrumptious gourmand scent featuring mango gracefully adorned with gardenia and passion flower. The grapefruit in the opening tones down the sweetness a bit but without making this a citrusy scent at all. In the drydown, a creamy vanilla base with a touch of wood soaks up the floral-mango amalgam, making it last on and on, even in the edt.
This combination of notes might have been a tropical–and unwearable–disaster. Instead, EAU D’AMAZONIE is a carefully composed, delectable scent that I’ll be wearing again and again.
I am truly impressed with Pierre Balmain, who has yet to disappoint me in a series of blind buys each of which has been an utterly unique creation of the highest quality. Although EAU D’AMAZONIE is not for everyone, it will surely please gourmand fragrance lovers!
