Though the aesthetics of the flacon suggests this is something formulated for evenings, what’s there to break the “rule”? So, I’m feeling Oud Oriental could be rocked to office (in the morning). For ladies that love oudy-rosy colognes (or any Middle Eastern inspired cologne), you’d need irrepressible gall to rock this anywhere. When you do and probably waltz into my space, I’d give you thumbs up! “Oud Oriental” is undisguisedly masculine with bestial longevity and projection. A silent contender to Montale’s “Black Aoud”.

A smooth, woody scent with great longevity but too masculine for me. I tend to regard most perfumes as unisex but this is not. If interested in a swap, please send me a message.

Thanks Deetron! I have got a flanker of this cologne! Bought it four days back! The oud in it resonates well with my olfactive tastes. However, there is mildly pungent floral accords, thus making it recommendable for ladies. It it is DAMN LONG LASTING, projects well and it’s refreshingly alluring. Ideal for formal postmeridian events or even a date!

@TheMan McEssien – Dupont Oud Oriental is a real heavy, powerful true oriental scent and I think it’s not a safe scent at all, so in general it’s not a good try for a blind buy…BUT, I saw your fragrantica Perfume Wardrobe and according to your personal taste, the answer is YES – you can try it. There is a big chance to like it 🙂
I love Dupont Oud Oriental and I hope I’ll write a review here soon.

Please is this cologne worth a “blind buy”?

one of the best Oud fragrances I have used or smiled, very long lasting, enormous silage and projection, heard a question “what is this perfume and from where you got?” many and many times,

Oud has become a common and overused ingredient and i’m no longer crazy bout it, but i got a good deal on this one:P
St dupont Oud oriental is a familiar but comfortable take on the Oud/Rose combo. It is close to the middle-eastern style attar oud minus the suffocating heaviness. Oud oriental is a bit sheer at the start which i like, but it’s linear and gets heavier and sweeter.
No animalic ambergris or aromatic green additions; this is straight-up comforting sweet oud and i like it.
scent: 7/10
longevity: 6/10
sillage: 7/10

Not much information on this at all and the best way of knowing is only by buying blind.Once I got it I was a little underwhelmed as it smelled albeit similar in overall feel to Oud et Rose from the same house.there’s only one note, oud, listed here but I do find that to be totally misleading as there are other parties at play here.
The main notes here are rose, oud, patchouli, amber, vanila and sandalwood.
The significant difference in this to Oud et Rose is the predominance of oud. Where this gives a blast of oud from first spray pushing all others to the background,in Oud et rose there is the rose.It doesnt change much throughout its duration on the skin and it’s better enjoyed that way than on a test strip.
Given the similarity to its sister,I do not see the point in getting both but can only say if you are not comfortable with the rose in Oud et Rose then this should do as the rose here is restrained by the oud.Luckily, the oud is not the very dry austere one so I think it should be tolerable to even non-oud lovers. The only downside to this is it’s not as super lasting and sillage depends on volume of sprays.
I think this will appeal more to men than women.Women might on the other hand love Oud et Rose. All up to individual tastes.
Given the trend in these oriental releases from this house-so far I have got two-I am not expecting any variation from the other release being Oud et Santal as it will just be a predictable combo of oud and sandalwood plus some supporting cast.To be honest I have been bored oud-sick lately so will not bother with that.
