I have bought this twice. Is it actually discontinued, or just reformulated? My old 50ml one looks like the one above, and is made in France. My 100ml I just got for $29 at Rexall says made in the usa, and the lid is textured like the one on 51.3n. Smells a whisper weaker too(compared them side-by-side). Other than that, good smell…like candy flowers or something. Could be unisex for sure.

Dunhill are a consistent designer, as long as you know not to be expecting crazy silage and longevity their fragrances are quite classy and restrained. They are my younger brothers’ favourite brand actually and I believe that speaks volumes, great crowd pleasing scents.
Dunhill London is a sweet based fragrance that is very much a skin-scent and should be used in the milder months of the year.
Due to the strength of the vanilla and red apple it would be garish in the summertime.
perfect for datenight, or curled up on the sofa with your significant other.
Nice 🙂

Everyone is saying this smells like boss but to my nose upon first spray I immediately thought of Chanel allure !!! In fact ID go as far as saying this a Chanel allure homme clone and it smells even more like allure homme than Perry Ellis M. BUT even though this is a closer clone I do like Perry Ellis M better.
This opens up with a very synthetic vanilla note with apple and spices in the background and the scent stays pretty much the same throughout the whole scent but then in the drydown it does become creamier. It’s a pretty boring scent to be honest and even though it smells like Allure homme it lacks the depth and the synthetic vanilla in this is slightly off putting making me only think that this scent is mediocre.
Performance on this is only average — it lasts me 6-8 hours but it’s pretty much a skin scent for the whole life of the fragrance
Overall rating— 6 out of 10 !

A fun, flighty and enjoyable wear that takes the apple and vanilla feel of Boss Bottled but cuts out the cinnamon and goes for a more minimalist palette that leaves the vanilla, tonka and musk the dominant players, pressing against the apple floral heart. What do you ultimately get? A rather linear, soft, sweet and fruity synthetic accord that taken as a Gesamtwerk is rather alluring and pleasant despite its limitations. Dunhill London is rather soft and fleeting, but I’ve found I get better performance in the 40-55 Fahrenheit range; with 4-5 hours and decent moderate projection the first two to three hours of wear. London fails in the cold Arctic winds of Canada and Scandinavia in winter and isn’t a great option for summer nights because the heat and humidity really brings out the synthetic vanilla. This is discontinued but can still be found at discounters in the UK.

This seems like a “tweaked” version of Dunhill’s Desire for a Man (red bottle). That one could come across as too sharp/metallic, but this one is smoother. It’s still got a bit of sharpness, but it’s not metallic, and that sharp element contrasts nicely with the vanillic element. Overall, a pleasant blend but I could see how some would say they already have something similar. One might even be willing to settle for something like “super-cheapo” Yacht Man Red !

One of my friend wore this at gym after workout smelled… not bad it was like vanilla musk and apple & wood with spices which gives a bit of powdery vibe and its sweet but not like overkill sweet ,manly but gentle , overall NOT BAD if you find it for cheap worth a try i think ladies will find this likeable

SCENT : 4/10

It IS very nice and a grower. A nice blend of vanilla and apple with white musk. Pity it wasn’t just a bit more potent, but is does last a while as a skin scent and the silage has more projection more than you think at first. There isn’t a bad Dunhill out there.
alexbarkin – :
Very good, I’m a Londoner and I like Dunhill London, classy, like all the Dunhills. Slightly sweet and spicy, nicely blended and never cloying.
Projection isn’t masive but as a skin scent I get in excess of 12 hours longevity. Good value for money and it will do for any occasion.
mozes – :
Dunhill’s London is a decent fragrance at an affordable price. London is successful blend of fruit and spice notes with several similarities to Hugo Boss’ Bottled. With my body chemistry, I notice the Vanilla, Apple, and Tonka Bean blend from the opening until and through the dry-down. London is an average performer, noticeable for about four to five hours, and the projection/sillage is modest, at best, settling to a skin scent through the dry-down.
I would suggest that London is most appropriate for fall and/or winter, but given the modest projection/sillage, it could easily be worn all year. Also considering the modest sillage, I would deem it office safe for those work environments with more sensitive noses. As with all Dunhill fragrances (I have a about five in my collection), the bottling and packaging are first class, the bottle is exceptionally well designed. The real beauty of London is the price/value that can easily be found for under $25 USD.
For those looking for an inexpensive alternative cologne to add to your collection, I definitely recommend. For the aficionado, or more seasoned collector, I suggest passing on London. If the projection, longevity, and originality of the scent were better, London would be at Top 10 fragrance. Final tally for London is four (4) stars out of five (5).
**An edit – one day later…** Last night following the review at lunchtime, I joined my girlfriend and family for dinner – you just can’t beat $1 taco nights – both she and her son requested what cologne I was wearing and each provided favorable comments. This was 10 hours after I applied London.
Enjoy your day and make it count…

A very affordable “Nina” for men, quite sensual on men in my opinion, very floral but spicy and fruity too!
FriendJoseph – :
A heavy dose of slightly synthetic vanilla over creamy tonka, subtle rose and sweet dried red delicious apple. This is a little powdery, but far more tame than most in the oriental category with vanilla and tonka as the two major ingredients. This isn’t complex and it won’t blow away guys addicted to finding the most obscure and expensive niche creations on the market. This is a simple, formulaic oriental fougere with a little sweetness, a little bit of fruit and a little bit more cream and vanilla; all balanced competently and a rather enjoyable wear in cooler air. Best suited for late fall and early spring evenings, this is cloying in the heat and too thin for the powerful Arctic winds and extreme cold. It fits London in that it excels in damp, cool, misty evenings. Oddly, given how famous Dunhill is for their tobacco blend London, you would have thought this would have been the perfect marketing opportunity to make this a tobacco heavy fragrance to marry the brilliance of Dunhill’s reputation with the tobacco smoking aristocracy of 17th and 18th century South England with its new ambitions since the 1980s to strike off beyond pipe smoking. Instead, we get an American old fashioned ice cream parlor feel instead with none of the really earthy elements that made Dunhill so famous in the first place. Enjoyable none the less, but flighty, soft, and rather unisex instead of fierce and masculine. Longevity for me is generally 3-5.5 hours and sillage with two sprays at moderate the first three hours before trailing off to soft. Scent is pretty and charming, but those words also imply a certain lack of masculine virility underneath the nails of this one. More for the white collar cubicle weekday commuter or the man looking for a gentle oriental fougere with less of the earthier and spicier elements to avoid imposition on co-workers.
Scent: 7.5/10
Longevity: 5/10

Thought this was going to be good – but it’s not overly warm or sweet enough for my liking.
tksvetlanka – :
A great freg from Dunhill , the dominating note of tonka bean beside the others ( vanilla , jasmine, rose, red apple ) just work grate in summer for me .
Longevity : around 8 hours.
Sillage : 4 – 5 hours.
scent : 7/10.
Bottle design : 8/10.
p.s. all the Dunhill fragrances that i had like ( Dunhill Edition , Dunhill Black , Dunhill Pursuit ) are grate, i can hardly wait 2 use dunhill Custom .
kaca – :
I’m not a big fan of tonka bean to begin with because I find it a bit artificially sweet like Splenda. From my testing, I get a lot more musk and tonka bean that I would like. There is some but not enough, for my preference, freshness either from apple or floral accord. I find it a bit soapy and sweet to wear during this blazing hot summer. It gets better as it lingers on however. I just need to revisit this again when the weather gets a tad cooler.
actuathThuddy – :
A beautiful blend of creamy tonka bean, sweet vanilla, airy floral topped off with a fruity and very sensual red apple accord that makes the first 20-30 minutes really stand out. The scent on its own is angelic, extremely uplifting and all the while warming in its light, fluffy balance of fruit, cream and floral; finding a very unusual balance between oriental and aromatic. It’s like being at a small family grocer in Europe on Valentine’s Day with the proximity of the candy, fruit and floral aisles converging on each other in the last few weeks of winter. Unfortunately the light essence of Dunhill’s London is also to its detriment, making it too flighty to hold on the skin without the stronger basenotes to anchor it. Longevity is thus rather consistently below average; with 2.5-5 hours generally the most the wearer should expect and sillage moderate the first hour but quickly receding to the background. Extremely versatile for an oriental fougere, Dunhill London’s lightness allows it to fit the bill rather well on spring, summer and fall evenings while also giving winter days more warmth. Just don’t forget to bring it with you if you plan on being out for more than just a quick bite to eat.

I had a coup-de-coeur when I met this fragrance. One of my favourites ever, except for the very short duration on skin. I would have to carry the bottle around to respray too often and it would be nice if it could be remade with a more longlasting effect, even if it had to be heavier in the base notes.
rus59 – :
nice scent but a bit casual to me !!!! i prefer dunhill pursuit though!!!!
nick.dndz – :
@ garett: I’m genuinely baffled as to how you managed to get 1 ml of this pleasant but feeble scent to give you 24 hours of longevity. You must be incredibly lucky.
smitt – :
This one really holds the essence of london in it.It is happiness. It gives out happiness. Some scents tend to make you relaxed more than required or some scents may make you emotional but this one is cheerful and happy.I used it and was going through tensed days but the smell of it , helped me a lot.
A very little 1 ml of it on your neck will have a longevity of 24 hours , thats how good it is.
Smellwise , it might be similar to many others though.
Rupaul – :
Dunhill’s London is surprisingly low-impact and light on the spice and herbs for an oriental fougere. Instead of a blast of cardamom, lavender, citrus and vanilla that attacks the skin with reckless abandon; London blends sensual red apple and organic vanilla with the slightest hint of floral (rose) to create a very uplifting, fluffy and light composition that seems more suited for spring and fall then the dead cold of winter.
The scent itself is incredibly well-blended and attractive on top for the first hour of wear, maintaining a vanillic dominance throughtout that changles slightly from red apple to a creamier, powdery tonka once the apple gives way to the heart and base. It is the first 20-30 minutes of London that really shines, before the tonka fully evolves into the fragrance and allows the apple and vanilla to stretch out and create a warm, friendly and charming presence. When the tonka fully arrives, it makes London a bit too powdery, feminine and creamy but still wearable in a very feminine way that may not appeal to everyone. Still, this is pretty decent stuff all things considered. The blending is well-balanced and more than compensates for the blueprint itself being a bit standard and worn. London has a very fine and charming organic red apple and vanilla composition that is light yet extremely uplifting, pleasing and eluminating.
The downside is longevity and projection, which ultimately makes London more a novelty than a must have purchase given the excellent range of bottles available in the well-represented oriental fougere category. Longevity here is consistently under-par, ranging from two to five hours consistently depending on the wearer and climate. Sillage is excellent early but tapers off quickly to a skin scent within 30-45 minutes of wear and then becomes rather indistinct and subtle from that point on until fading out with little warning or evolution late, with a light sandalwood and patchouli base barely surfacing after the three hour mark. Still, the opening makes this a wonderful sniffing experience and a fantastic purchase for those looking for something light and fluffy but less sweet than a lot of the tonka and vanilla based scents on the market. Not essential, but fun and enjoyable if you can find it for the right price.

I absolutely adore this scent! My boyfriend and I went looking for a nice fragrance for him and after hours of testing we ended up with London. I’m somehow addicted to the associations and emotions this scent creates for me. It’s grown-up and playful at the same time and really really sexy. A lot of men wear heavy colognes that fill a whole room with their scent in just seconds. I don’t always like that.. London is more subtle but still fascinatingly delicious. I can only talk about his body chemistry, but from that experience longevity and sillage are pretty decent.
Fliporad – :
I like this perfume so much that I was noticing its cloud from meters away… it smells very modern, fresh, soft and expensive. Makes you feel like rich and elegant when you wear it. After having learnt the brand&name I bought it. Only disappointment was its longevity despite spraying heavily…
Payton_fromAD – :
The vanilla and apple combine well to create a soft powdery uplifting smell with mild sillage that’s also a touch generic and feminine. However, its longevity is a serious disappointment, giving perhaps 2 hours at most before it disappears abruptly from my skin or clothes despite spraying heavily. If you can get your head around that issue, then Dunhill London is a friendly casual choice for the summer and/or in an office setting.
Like too many Dunhill scents I’ve tried of late, this is not a bottle I feel compelled to replace when it runs out as perhaps the smell is too bland for my liking and its longevity is rubbish. Also, I’m baffled with the name as I can’t make out any obvious connection between the fragrance and London UK which is where I was born and live.
Jugger777 – :
I had missed trying this out. Did today and it smelled very similar to egoiste to my nose ! Wow and for just a third of the price ! ….

give me a headache. very sweet smell
diman7195 – :
It has a classically modern, bitterly sweet, simply casual yet refined body to it that I know I’ve smelt somewhere in my testing journeys but I can’t remember where. Does it smell like a CK or some other creation by any popular brands? I can’t put my finger on it.
Sticky sweet tonka and vanilla combo with something trying to soften it. Patchouli in there too.
Taibisseatode – :
I just tested it at a perfume store, I think it smell fresh and a little too sweet… But I like it, it will be on my next purchase list

This is a beautiful fragrance for men! I bought this for my former partner after I was unable to find his previous signature (Dunhill Xccentric) and I am so glad I did. This was refreshing and attractive and this scent on a man is deeply alluring, its fresh, the apple is sparkling and is has a beautiful sour but incredibly soft lemon drydown that is incredibly attractive. A gentle but masculine heart, I think geranium should be in all mens frags. And this one is awesome!

once i had a friend who smelled so great, and i went asking what was it.it was dunhill london. recently my hubby asked me what fragrance he should buy for a formal occasion since all he had were casual ones. i urged him to buy this.
