This is the first time I’ve smelt a line of scents and found that the one I thought I’d like the least actually turned out to be my favorite. This is one of those scents you really can’t describe, you just have to smell it to understand it. This might be a bit too feminine for the average guy to wear but on the right person with the right climate/season it’ll make a distinguishing statement. So far all the uni-masculine scents from the Buxton collection are too feminine leaning for me.

Yes, definitely smells like quince – that sweet fruity note in the frag is it.

Hmm… Quince! i don’t know how does Quince smell like, but i believe it smell quite interesting if the main note is Quince! it have quite fair doses of rhubarb, and some peony, and i believe the venilla isn’t that much but it is there for some sweetness. And to break the sweetness, the vetiver is there and the whole blend turns into a leathery mix.
It is fair, but i have sniffed a much better version of leather than this one, a much better sweet leather, or maybe a softer sweet leather. I just don’t see “Mark Buxton” as an amazing nose, maybe some of his creations are fairly ok but as a nose, he is quite an over hyped to me.

“Delicious Delights” on YouTube said this smells like cream soda. I love cream soda! I would love to smell this one someday!

According to it’s name I was expecting something dark and mysterious but it opens with a blast of bright, fresh fruity floral.I didn’t know about it’s notes and I thought there’s apple in it or pear.a combination of apple, actually quince and peony smells nice, pretty, youthful but too simple to compell me to buy a bottle,I was ready to pass it after couple of minutes but something changed and made me think more about it.there was still this pretty quince-peony combination but I felt it’s in a thick layer of creamy sweetness
OK I love vanilla and I adore creamy, sweet scents but I’m sure though I find a vanilla-fruity-floral very lovely,I can easily pass it but I can’t stop thinking about this one.I couldn’t pick up vetiver and leather,I even didn’t know they’re there but I believe these notes give it a punch and add an edge to this sweet, simple confection.I could feel there’s a dash of powder sprinkled on top of this sweet cream which makes it even more likable
I can’t wait to try it once more.I like it’s fresh, girly opening but I love it’s warm, delicious almost milky drydown.gonna edit this if I have opportunity to take a sniff once more but for now I think sleeping with angels would be a better name
    Edit :
Tried it again and this time it was a meh for me.leather prevents creamy vanilla-peony combo to develop fully sweet and bright and delicious

What a refreshing take on vetiver! This was a recent blind buy! I truly enjoy it!

I just tried this on for the first time and have to say, it’s not my usual thing but the combo of quince and vetiver made me go a little squiggly inside – in a wonderful way. This is a delightful, playful, grown up fruity scent on my skin and dries down to a softly mossy vanilla pear delight. If that sounds like a contadictory mess, please just give it a go. It’s creamy and soft, with the haunting prettiness that comes from the quince and marigold lift off. The leather note is so soft, it’s almost undetectable but together with the vetiver’s earthiness it adds the gravitas that stops this from being too fruity and keeps it in the realms of otherworldly concoctions indeed. This is spring season good times in a bottle. Beautifully delicate and absolutely appropriately named, imho. Simply lovely.

I love the combo of fruity/flowery/leathery accords in this fragrance; however, it is so sweet that I find it borderline cloying. Sits close to the skin. Reads as feminine to me but I wouldn’t judge a guy that dug wearing it on himself. A must-try, in my opinion.

I never thought I’d be a fan of a fragrance featuring peony, but wow am I ever. Its an extremely soft fragrance, and I like that aspect for once. I’m a man, and I really like florals, but prefer them to be soft, neutral, or in the background. Otherwise I admit to feeling slightly self conscious. Sleeping with Ghosts has peony and vanilla front and center, and blends the vetiver/leather way in the background. This gives it a neutral balance that really works for me, the softness seems to allow it to mix extremely well with my natural scent, leaning masculine enough for me to really enjoy wearing this. Also making it somewhat unique for me.
The longevity is somehow very good on me. The sillage is extremely soft, soft to the point where the retail price might be considered absurd, for the majority will want more projection for this kind of money. I’ve seen this go for well below the MSRP and am not surprised. If this sold for under $100 this would be a staple in my collection, without a doubt.
    7/10

“Sleeping with Ghosts” really is a little something. It might appear almost angelic, but there is with no doubt a darker side to all this.
Upon applying I was hit in the face with a blast of one of the most smoky vanillas I’ve tried accomponied with a syntethic almost-glue-like sweetness.
Soon appeared the familiar zestyness of combination of quince and vetiver, at this point the smokyness is almost gone and vanilla is more creamy, upon inhaling it brought back memoirs, I struggled to remember what this smells like to me, and, yes – CREAM SODA. Creamy, zesty and a bit syntethically sweet.
The drydown appears to be the same linear creamy sweet scent I encountered in heart part.
Really nice. Stays close to skin though and fades within 5 hours. If not for these reasons, I’d be willing to put down my && for a full bottle.

My boyfriend wanted me to try this because of the Placebo association, so I wasn’t sure of notes etc or what to expect.
It starts off very gentle indeed, fairly light and gauzy and I can smell the delicate peony and there was something fresh too, presumably the quince. After maybe ten minutes when this warms on the skin a huge thick vanilla unfurls and wraps around you like a warm blanket. It smelled like something sweet to me from childhood and it took me quite a while of sniffing to remember what. Once the vanilla develops this smells exactly like American Cream Soda. Which I actually hate…
The more dark earthy notes in this, the leather and vetiver never show up on my skin, at least not in any way my nose can detect, but I think this is what keeps the scent more in line with the name. Sleeping With Ghosts is like a sweet fog, viscous and cosy and mildly gourmand. I recommend it for someone looking for a different vanilla, though if you’re like me and find Cream Soda too sickly sweet you may want to give it a miss.
I would add this has very beautiful sillage and great staying power.

Oh, such a gorgeous peony opening! Yummy, delicious and fresh..
But after 10 minutes stays only a nondescript coconut
or vanilla sweetnes on the skin. So sad!!!!!!!! Where is the sour peony
    bunch gone?
What should the ghosts in the name mean?

No ghosts at all, rather white angels. I can imagine hundreds of reviews coming soon from disappointing people expecting dark, mysterious and incense based fragrance. But SwG is sweet, yummy and very delicious fragrance that is more like warm vanilla pudding. I bought it today because whether is horrible, depressing and very very sad. SwG make me happy and smiling so I like it expecting to use during terrible, cold and wet fall time.
The fragrance – beginning is full of peony – its warm and sensual sweet nectar. Tagetes and quince give it a little exotic and dry nuances. But immediately (after 5 minutes) perfume changes its dimension to warm and very very natural milk smell. It is like back to the school time where we had during lunch time the opportunity to drink a glass of warm milk. I loved it and now it comes back in my memory. So yummy and full of happiness. This is created by the mix of peony and vanilla that develops slowly and finally plays a main role. But this is not cheep smelling artificial vanilla but very sensual and natural that is even little hot in its projection. The leather is not obvious but it exists in the back underlying the sensuality and warmness of the perfume.
    Finally – I love it.

Yes, this is gorgeous. A less sweet, more finely nuanced rendition of my all time favorite fruity floral Joop All About Eve – minus the cinnamon – plus a very subtle leather accord. The apple-y – floral – vetiver – vanillic -accord works like a magic in this, too.
Dreamy, lovely and playful! Quite feminine on me – but my skin tends to swallow the leather notes.

Just got it in, WHAT a scent! definately diservers some more hype! Such a good take on a floral scent, not an overly feminine scent, as a man you can def pull this off easily.
