Altaia’s Don’t Cry For Me is a charming, bright floral. I completely disagree with the other reviewers who find it to have soapy tonalities. The main story here is a light jasmine & perhaps a white or green tea (possibly what others associate with bath products) supporting the star notes: heliotrope and freesia, which together can also recall certain species of lilac. Phenyl ethyl compounds acetate, formate, etc. seem to be in play here also, drawing out the natural honey-like notes found in the fresh, spring floral bouquet. The brand lists a ‘vegetal amber’, which is likely based on cistus, but there is definitely a greener tonality to it that isn’t softened by vanillin, and the touch is extremely light. It coexists very well with a dose of cashmeran and ambrette seed that together create the lift in the fond. All around stellar fragrance. Longevity and sillage are mild. This is the perfect perfume for folks who don’t want to fill a room but want to enjoy their scent in a more personal way. For the spring flower lover when fresh flowers aren’t at hand. Definitely worth the money!
