Description

According to Donna Karan, gold has always attracted her by its passion and power, and as a designer, she has always liked combinations of gold and black colour. She finally succeeded in creating a fragrance to reflect its warmth, power and attractiveness.

The fragrance is built of two main elements, which carry a scent of gold: lily from Casablanca and amber. Lily is intoxicating and sparkling, it attracts and seduces, while amber is warm, as a touch of gold.

This complicated and powerful, but also gentle and feminine fragrance includes the following notes: lily, amber, acacia, white cloves, gold balm, golden pollen and patchouli from East Asia.

A whole team of perfumers worked on this perfume: Yann Vasnier, Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Calice Becker. The perfume was created in 2006.

The bottle with perfume water is in the photo (above), while edt bottle is translucent.

My first thoughts upon smelling this edp version were ARAMIS NEW WEST SKIN SCENT for her, long discontinued and ridiculously expensive now! A lot cheaper too!

While this wasn’t the MONSTER I expected, it certainly has good sillage and incredible lasting power. However, all I got was very realistic strong white flowers. No supporting notes. It was rather cloying/annoying/linear, so it’s not a fave. The flowers were rather waxy/buttery.
I am really happy to have received a 2007 bottle made in the UK tho! Deep orange/red juice! And it was just some tester from ebay for around $21! I think I’d prob enjoy the EDT more, but it’s not something I’ll ever buy.

Not a typical oriental. This is a simple fragrance, the main dominating notes being lily and amber. The lily is very natural here, a bit green and fresh like a huge bouquet of lilies, flowers, stems and all.

The only way I could describe this perfume is “powerful.” It is so heady it is almost masculine. For the first two hours all you get is this strong fragrance, the way perfume should be. Then after that it starts to break down into more of a sweeter, kinder scent. Noticeably, I haven’t spoken one word about the notes of “Gold” because I got one accord of what I don’t know…..I just know it is serious perfume.
Curiously, this is not a sillage monster either but it IS intensive! I saw this on sale, a 50mL bottle for $200! I sprayed it on my arm and gave my other fragrance lover, my sister to smell and she said “no way, too ambery!” All I could think was “whoa!” This is no child’s play scent, no tutti fruity celebrity fragrance…it’s strong! Certainly, very good!

Today, in SE Essex, it feels as if spring may finally have arrived. The sun’s out, the sky is blue, there’s not a cloud to spoil the view… Oh, wait. Yes there are. But at least it’s not overcast, misty or bloody raining. And it’s warm.
To celebrate the fact that the sun is finally shining, I thought I’d break out a spring perfume and nothing – to me – smells more like spring, than lilies; I adore the smell of lilies, but can’t have them in the house any more as they are highly toxic to cats (and I have three).
I scored a part-used bottle of DK Gold on eBay for under £11.00; reading previous reviews, it seems that this may be an older bottle, as it is partially enclosed in a metallic gold jacket.
Gold smells predominantly of lilies when first sprayed. Within 30 minutes or so, other flowers come into play; I am not picking up on jasmine, so this must be black locust/acacia that I can smell. A slight spiciness from cloves arrives with black locust and – further on drydown – a little greenness creeps out. I am a patchouli and amber lover and I can’t smell patchouli at all. If there is any amber, I think is somewhere underneath the flowers and may be contributing warmth and depth to the composition, but it doesn’t smell like the amber I am used to in my beloved orientals.
I liked Gold when I bought and tried it in cool, damp weather – today however, I love it. This is another example of the importance of climatic conditions on how I perceive and enjoy a perfume.
ETA Sillage is heavy (beyond arms-length) and longevity is over 12 hours on my dry skin (although it is a skin-scent by then), probably lasting far longer on clothing.

OH wow! There is something amazing about the sour wet scent of violet leaf that is amazing next to this oriental lily scent. I know it’s not for everyone but I think it’s a great balance that keeps the lily grounded and keeps it from being cloying.
The lily note itself starts out accurate. As it settles the jasmine and black locust notes merge with it making it more of a bouquet but it doesn’t blend so much that I would call it muddy or nondescript.
The amber is present in the drydown as a warm creaminess. I was looking forward to the clove, but it and patchouli weren’t really present. I love it anyways. After about 5 hours the scent is detectable, but really faint.

This is LOVELY. I snagged an original formula bottle off eBay (has the metal around the bottle) and it arrived today.
I’m not sure I get the comments about this being a strong oriental. I love orientals but this? This is a straight up bright, clear, sweet lily. It’s realistic, smells like church on Easter to me.
It’s beautiful, incredibly floral and I’m loving it. But I don’t get any facets that would make it oriental, or overwhelming, or even not work appropriate. I’d say I found my lily fragrance though, but I’m a little sad I don’t get the oriental vibe others do as I would love that.

    Good golly, this is nice!!!
The accords fit this so well, but for me, they go in order of:
    Soft spicy
    White Floral
    Warm Spicy
    Animalic
    Amber
Mmmmm…yes..this one is nice!!! So nice for Fall and Winter, I think. Just a cozy, soft, slightly sexy, slightly warm fragrance. The warmth here is subtle, which I appreciate; sometimes overly warm fragrances give me headaches. But the soft spicy and white floral blend in to keep this from being too warm. My only sadness is that fragrancenet only had a wee little 1 ouncer, I so need to hunt down a large bottle of this one, I think!!! 🙂 LOVE!!! 🙂

This scent is for connoisseurs, strongly oriental, you can love it or not. I did a couple of approaches, I had two samples of Eau de Perfum 1.7ml, but well, I can not quite bear it as it grows totally, 20 min max and I have to wash my hand. But I know an attractive woman who used fragrance of Gabriele Sabatini – I do not know which – and the Gold fell to her liking.
I like floral perfumes. Gold is not my climate.

After hearing so much about this, I decided to fork down $15 for a vintage bottle (with the gold metal cover and made in the UK). I’ll start with the positives: even a 10 year old bottle, the stuff is potent and strong. It defiantly smells like a powerhouse 80’s scent. This is a sweet, syrupy juice and 100% lily with a slight vanilla custard aftertaste. The amber is there and gives this a rich buttery feel, but the patchouli and clove barley registers a whisper. It kinda melts into the skin and projects like crazy. If you apply it, you’d better like it, because either way you are stuck with it. Spray with extreme caution and do not blind buy this one. It does smell a lot like Tom Ford Lys Fume, like close enough to be a bargain basement replacement. However, overall I don’t really like this. As a guy, I cant pull this off as easily as say Champaca Absolute or Shanghai Lily, although Gold has that same thick sweet floral richness. Maybe its too linear and not complex enough to me. This is a one note scent, albeit a solid, distinctive one that does make a statement. I’d like to met a woman who can pull this off. I bet she’s an Atomic Blonde kinda dame.

EdP review: Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Lily? Not quite, but not so far off either! I get a little spice, sort of peppery, but it’s mostly the lily and a light ambery/patchouli thing, which works very well, assuming you don’t dislike lily. It’s very smooth and nicely blended, no sharp edges anywhere to be found, and doesn’t come across as synthetic either. Certainly could be unisex for guys who like lily notes. If you have been seeking a gourmanish lily scent, this is worth sampling!

Thank you Angelica 000 for the lovely gift. This is a lovely floriental that is right up my alley. I have the EDT which is more than strong enough for me. Intense green lily with that lovely hint of patchouli in the background. Very long lasting with better than average silage.

My review is for the EDP version. Maybe the Edt is different . I bought this blind and it’s very different from what I was expecting. I love it non the less. Its not anamalic, not heavy, not sweaty. This is what I get… A clean slightly sweet, slightly green Lily. Its fresh and starts to become more fleshy along with a soapy clean feel to it. I swear I smell cucumbers, loads of them. It smells like a Lily cucumber perfume. Its not strong but has a presence. As the wind blows or air circulates with movement, the scent becomes noticeable and it wafts around with a clean airy aura. Its very beautiful and longevity seems very impressive, so far I’ve been wearing it for 3 hours and it still has the same strength as it did since I sprayed it on.

I agree with objections review about 3 below mine. Give this one time.
I LOVE lily scents. I like a bit of oily chewiness and weight to my fragrances. My favorite lily fragrance if budget were not an issue is Frederic Malle Lys Mediteranee, but since I am on a budget, Cartier Baiser Vole is my go-to.
I just received DK Gold EDT yesterday. The first blast is a BLAST of something unappealing, maybe the green, stemmy, rootiness that others have described, not sure. If I didn’t stick my nose to my wrist, I was okay. If I did, well, I got that gross feeling in the back of my throat.
About 30 minutes later, maybe less, on me it becomes quite close to a lily soliflore, the nectar and sweetness of the lily. I did one spray and it would waft nicely.
The dry-down was almost vanillic in a good way. I wish I got the clove scent, but I didn’t. Maybe a few more wears and I’ll sift through the other offerings hiding within this one. My husband classifies most of my perfumes as good or bad (so helpful, I know). Hardly anything gets a real reaction from him, but this garnered an enthusiastic, “That’s good.”
I am curious how this differs from the parfum.
Projection: very good with one spray
    Longevity: very nice, 6+ hrs.
Wear: NOT work friendly, lily-lovers only, spring/summer date worthy, not for those looking for a delicate scent, a must-try for anyone exploring lily notes or who like untraditional fragrances
Edit: Yes, there is an odd cucumber note to this at the beginning as another reviewer stated. Bizarre but not long-lasting.

This will be short and sweet. It is Lily and Clove. White florals are not usually my thing but the clove appeals to my love of all things spicy. I don’t get a gold feeling from this at all. It needs a different name.

    Received this today.
Well, at first spray, I got the memory of Giorgio of Beverly Hills/Carolina Herrera Original vibe. Not a good thing, sorry to say. The dry-down…..generic fake-ish stargazer lily……Too bad they did not add a “spicy” accord to this, It might of added something MORE to this scent. I bought the older version EDP….exactly like the photo above. I will stick with the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleila, which I also got this week, for my Lily fix. Also, Cartier Baiser Vole EDP….great lily/green scent as well.
Gold has a harsh opening…then…the middle comes out, and for a moment, you think….hmmm…”maybe”…then that middle dries down to MEH….generic, floral with no body or substance to support it.
EDIT: I put this one aside for awhile….lol…then gave it another chance. It is NOT as bad as I first said. It has grown on me….omg….lol. But, I still won’t re=purchase in the future.
The dry-down is basically where I found the little “magic” happen.

Goes from plastic/vinyl sweetness, (first 5 mins) to a very lush, slightly synthetic, sweet lily. (1 hour or so). I had the edp form, and I now own the EDT form. Overall, same exact scent. The edt is my preferred choice though, the “sour” note is lessened in that version. Give this one time to bloom and you may fall in love.
Gold EDP is a powerhouse. Like a chemical lily amplified to an unrealistic proportion. Sometimes it smelled similar to a lily on me, other times a total sour mess. I swapped it in the end, the edt just works better for me.. Maybe ill try this version again though, one day.

This has to be one of the best blind buys ever! I adore Lilies, but often the offerings are light & (dare I say it?) insipid & wishy-washy. The lilies I love are heady, intoxicating & seductive…add the very essence of gold as the supporting cast & here you have it! Instant love, this one really hits above its weight.

I sampled the EdP some time ago, and didn’t like it- it smelled musty and a little sweaty (too indolic, I guess) but the EdT is pure LILY! Actually, to me it smells like Stargazer lilies, rather than Casablanca lilies- it has the same sweet/spicy bubblegum aroma- longevity and potency are decent, too-

  20. :

This smells refreshingly of a bunch of flowers in a pot full of soil with amber undertones. The lily and locust dominate only allowing the rest of the notes to barely be noticed. Sillage and longevity are good and the wooden cap is a plus point.. The structure of the scent is pretty linear and stays the same throughout its duration with the exception of the first 2-3 minutes which are a bit of an exaggeration of the rest of the perfume.

This one turns painfully sour on me. I know some people have that problem with certain white florals, and I don’t get it that often, but this is an example of it. I can definitely detect the violet leaf and it is not doing anything to mitigate the situation, on the contrary, it aggravates it. This composition simply does not work for me, unfortunately.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

A lovely sweet white floral that is balanced by an animalic musk, light and deep/rich. Sits close to the skin. This is soft but has a dimension that keeps it from being a simple, cloying white floral.

I cannot find it anywhere in my country, such a shame. It was warm yet fresh lily scent, smelled beautiful, ultra feminine and classy. A bit heady and just so THERE…
I loved to catch the scent of this perfume on others and it would have enriched my own collection beautifully.

If you can get your hands on the bottles from 2006 in the EDP, do it. Those bottles, are covered in ACTUAL metal! The ones later are covered with a cheaper metal that is spray painted gold in color and is shiny. I find the scent is a bit different on those.

This is an interesting fragrance. I like it and find it intriguing. Yes, I definitely get the familiar plasticky lily fragrance. I cant comment on the black locust as I have no idea what that smells like. There is something about this that smells like an artificial banana note. Is that the black locust?! I dont know.
I also get the artificial amber and some jasmine. This is not sickly sweet by any means and neither particularly spicey. It smells of plastic. It reminds me of the smell of my space hopper when I was very young.
I imagine this could easily be too strong with more than a couple of spritzes. Not fb worthy for me.

    Interesting tid-bit!!!
I only wear this perfume and Fendi Furiosa. Since Furiosa only arrived late 2014 and is already pulled from production, I don’t worry about the age of whatever bottle I find. After all, the oldest it can be is just over a year.
With Gold….. you really cannot be certain, it arrived in 2006. WELL….. my batch codes are A86 and A89. A86 on the batch code check reads, “2016-08.” Impossible, since it is only February of 2016, not yet August. WELL….Donna Karan codes REPEAT every 10 years! So, my bottles are from the original year of production, from 2006.
How do they all smell? PERFECT! Ten years old and still smell exactly as they should and just as potent. So, if you are considering grabbing up a bottle you see tucked in some dark corner of some danky fragrance store, just DO IT!
Also….did anyone ever notice there are instructions on the bottom of the box for REMOVING the gold metal shell? You push in the black plastic center piece and can pop off the metal part. WHY anyone would want to do this…..is beyond my guess. Maybe to display it when the bottle is empty? A fancy napkin ring, perhaps?
    My bottles are the EDP.

Having owned three bottles of this for about two months now, I LOVE it. I’m really unhappy it’s been taken out of production, I don’t think I’ll find a dupe for it when I’ve run out. and I’m an over sprayer, so it probably won’t take me that long to run out. Aargh.

  28. :

This is REALLY powerful. For the first hour or so after spraying I couldn’t really handle it close to me, it was sickening in it’s spicy sweetness. 5 hours later, I really do like it. It really smells like the inside of a lily, I can imagine staring down into the green stem. It’s almost like we’re smelling within the stem of the flower, if you can imagine that. There’s also a lot of spice, which goes well with lily, because I always think of it as a slightly spicy flower. Be careful with this one, though! One spray is really quite enough.

  29. :

    4 out of 5

EDT version. I’ve just sprayed some on a piece of white paper and noticed the spray has dyed it slightly orange. This might not be good for your clothes.
As for the scent, a nice slightly sharp floral to my nose, with an undercurrent of something that reminds me of watery fruits?
I think I’m going to like it, but I won’t be spraying it on my top which is how I normally wear perfume, and I don’t think it’s going to be a favourite.
I had been hoping for a thick heady scent, with all this talk of lillies in the reviews
I’ve bought a small bottle of the EDP. I like the bottle, the EDT version doesn.t have the gold metal on it.
It does seem to be different, its as though there’s an ingredient added, or brought forward a bit more. The EDT is lighter, the EDP darker.
The green scent is just as apparent, but is submerged in something darker.
Could be clove and amber are stronger in the EDP?

Very first application led to a splitting headache. It was a blind buy so I pushed myself to give it one more go…. and I’ve loved it since.
Very womanly scent. Anyone can wear it, although I do think for a teen it just wouldn’t be as complimentary. It’s a mature scent in my opinion.
The opening is pretty bold. The warm elements trying to settle down, amber and powder hitting you. As it settles the amber makes way for the beautiful lily of Donna Karan Gold, which is what sold me on the fragrance. Powdery, amber notes mingle with the lily and other earthy base notes.
It’s beautiful and bold and I’m quite sure your body chemistry is a big part of this scent too.

  32. :

I find Donna Karan Gold to be a lovely, ambery, spicy lily fragrance. I’m not sure why the bad press here – this one has everything! Floral, yes, but the lily is warmed by amber and white clove into a mellow, long-lasting very feminine scent. I rated the longevity at 7-10 hours, very good in my opinion; the sillage is moderate, not heavy. Safe for work and public use and very seductive as well. I don’t think you can go wrong with amber and lilies! No banana note discernible to me, and no sourness either.

its very very very loud and im an oversprayer i like bombs but i dont think i want to be mistaken for a gigantic lily the size of godzilla, its quite scary.
like a huge blonde labrador wearing pink lipstick singing maria callas. no. that or i have a fake cause it could also pass for a polish dupe of toilette spray –
attack of the killer lily – not sexy, not refined, soapy
    loud mess
sorry but if fragrantica only keeps positive reviews we can never hear the pro or cons.
pro= lily lovers heaven, the breath of god.
con= lily lovers nightmare: wtf i wasnt suppossed to become one ?? and why am i 20 feet tall?
this is exactly what chanel meant by saying woman shouldnt smell like flowers.

  34. :

The last reviewer is probably right about body chemistry being a major factor in whether or not DK Gold smells good on you. Also, maybe the perfume goes bad quickly when exposed to light? On me, Gold is a beautiful lily fragrance, no other notes stand out on their own to draw attention away from the enormous bouquet of lilies.
So many floral perfumes smell realistic enough, but are a bit strange and artificial at the same time, and make me think of the Coco Chanel quote about how a woman shouldn’t smell like flowers. This perfume never gives that impression though, and manages to be absolutely perfect. Also, it is very straightforward and no-nonsense for a realistic floral, and it never gives out an impression of being the perfume for an ingénue or a soppy romantic type.

Love this, warm and sweet with plenty of iris. Surprised how many negative comments are on here but perhaps it is the skin that is is being applied on that is not susceptible to such a refined blend of floral notes.

I love ambers and orientals, but this one is not for you if you are looking for an updated take on either of these. I love the classics, but this reminds me of the bad classics– the synthetic, shallow, dare I say– drugstore classics?
I was expecting a more sensual, sophisticated scent but unfortunately this is a blind buy gone awfully wrong.

An ozonic Madagascan jasmine with a little bit of salt. It’s like burying your nose in an oriental lily inside a warm chandelier lit florist shop. The freshness from ozone balances the amber at the heart of the flower.
This fragrance is tenacious. Lasts 10hr+

FragranceNet sells this little beauty for a mere pittance! For years now I have avoided Donna Karan perfumes because all the ones I’ve tried smell like baby powder on me. All I could think was, “Dang, this chick loves powder!” Well, thankfully this one is different! Maybe because it’s so far removed from her other scents that it was discontinued? Very sad because it is just marvelous!
When I first spritzed it I could readily identify lily, amber and some soft spices. Instead of jasmine and black locust, I don’t know from black locust, I swear I smell orange blossom and neroli, maybe some vanilla too. No matter, as it just smells delightful! Lily is a flower I usually associate with spring and summer, but here, blended with the patchouli, amber and spiked with clove, it carries lilies into the autumn and winter months. Overall this is a floral, spicy, resinous scent that I actually think would smell nice on a man too!

  39. :

Opens up in a way that reminds me of Baldessarini’s Ambre cologne, very lovely warm glowing Amber opening, then comes the floral bit, the dry down is very lily/jasmine, what a wonderfully blended fragrance. I like it because I like any fragrance (male or female) within reason that contains patchouli, I’ll be honest here I don’t really get it. That said the warm ambery/lily mix is very pleasant, maybe a little bit heady to be commercial. This is good stuff, nice classy bottle too.

Beautiful lily perfume (I did not know I liked this flower till I compared the common note in baiser vole and Donna Karan gold). And ofcourse, amber adds to the depth. I dont know how black locust smells like but I will try amarige with this perfume to smell the similarity. I think layering this perfume with jacomo silences will make version of cartier baiser vole that is much richer and deeper.

This perfume was a surprise for me. I ended up liking it much more than I expected. This is very much a warm lily scent. I can smell the amber, and I can smell the lily. The lily note is smooth, almost watery, but it’s warmed up by the amber. When I first put it on it was hard for me to imagine this being a “gold” fragrance- it simply smelled to watery. After a bit of wear, however, the amber kept the lily warm. Seeing the bottle, name, and description I expected this scent to be much heavier, but it really has a light, watery element to it. A complex fragrance, and one I liked overall.

  43. :

What a pleasant surprise! I have never owned a lily heavy scent before, but this was inexpensive on ebay so I gave it a go. First spray made me think I’d made a mistake. It was big, loud LILY! Lily bomb,, lily in my face–a little much. In a few minutes though the big cold floral falls back and warming amber steps forward with a light green freshness and something pepper-spicey. The lily is still dominant, but now recalls a lovely Easter Sunday, warm sunshine after a cold winter, beautiful ladies in pastel dresses, fragile flowers promising new beginnings. I wore this to work and received compliments from busy co-workers, some even asked me what i was wearing and where to purchase. BTW, I also have the body lotion and it is fab! Many body lotions disappoint me, but this one is lovely.
*My review is for the EDP–the pictured bottle.

EDP: Gorgeous true-to-life lily. Sensual, cold and warm at the same time (if that makes any sense?). If you love the smell of real alive lilies, you will be thrilled with this one!

  46. :

Hmm I’m still not sure how I exactly feel towards this fragrance. I have a small sample (EDP) and have used it a few times and I even contemplated about buying it, but I think I might stick to my sample.
The opening is simply wonderful on my (male) skin: It’s fresh, floral and not overly sweet. I get a lot of fresh lilies, a bit of clove and some jasmine. Sadly enough, it doesn’t stay this way. Instead the jasmine fades away and my skin seems to amplify the lily and amber notes. It ends up really sweet on my skin. Gold just smells like a bouquet of lilies on me: heady, lush and quite intoxicating. The sillage is really strong on this one and the longevity is impressive too.
I really like lilies, but I prefered them to stay as they were in the opening. I also don’t get any weird salami/banana/cucumber notes.

I am just not caring for this one! It was a blind buy based on the notes and well I guess there is something in there that I just don’t like, maybe the patchouli?!!!! It’s just not my style at all!!! So disappointed!! 🙁

  49. :

Character, quality, versatility and a very reasonable cost: it’s all here and then some. Donna Karan’s “Gold” (EdP) was one I almost didn’t buy for fear of it being too heady and possibly headache-inducing.
Initially, I hesitated making this blind
buy due to the relatively short list of notes: three of which are Lily, Jasmine, and Amber. I tend to prefer almost anything but a purely Floral (i.e. sweet) fragrance for most occasions, and I was pleasantly surprised that this does not altogether fit that category. It is a true Floriental.
The florals are indeed lavish here, but are spared from being overtly garish with a masterful addition and blending of balsamic and earthy notes. What an incredibly good mix of “grounded femininity” the perfumers have struck with this fragrance!
No one note or specific mood prevails, and the drydown is a prolonged, exquisite journey that arouses my senses in a most captivating way. The Amber is of a moderate temper, one which refrains from being too thick or syrupy. It’s a somewhat
dry one which serves to enhance the overall bouquet.
The Lily and Jasmine notes are amazingly realistic but remain well-mannered, gentle and with a sparkle that keeps this from ever becoming too garish or weighty. I do not detect any banana (nor any gourmand) notes on my skin as other reviewers have mentioned.
As for being a fresh-from-the-bath kind of clean scent? Not on my skin. I’d call it more of a fresh, ripe scent that is invigorating yet has enough complexity to keep it sensual and even a bit sexy. This is a female fragrance all the way. No screaming of the fact necessary here: it’s attraction is all about being ladylike in it’s pursuit to seduce. It delivers on that promise in such a way that the clothes may be on the floor without anyone the wiser on how, when…(indeed she’s a cunning temptress!)
I highly recommend this fragrance to any female who wants a scent that is sensual, complex, and a bit on the mischevious side…with excellent sillage and longevity. Enjoy!

(Update to review, it’s growing on me somewhat, it probably depends on mood. I still find this a touch clean, but I can see it as a good daytime perfume if you want to feel fresh. Good for work too)
Wish I liked this more, but the lily is too clean – a little bit like cleaning product. There’s a slight butteriness (or banana as mentioned in reviews below) in there that I like but sadly the cleaning product note prevails.
I’ve sniffed it alongside my two much loved lily perfumes – Baiser Vole and Lys Soleia and those smell far more natural. (Baiser Vole a lightly sweet and green lily and Lys Soleia a sunny buttery lily).
Edit: I’ve gifted it to my sister who enjoys ‘beachy’ warm florals and amber. I think it’s a good perfume so I’m glad it’s found a good home!

Gold was a blind buy for me, like most of my other fragrances. I carefully read all your reviews here, and, based that Murmure is my favourite fragrance (3rd bottle), which is sadly discontinued, I thought I will like Gold. Well, it is a little different lily. I heard quite sharp oriental lily scent, very strong (which is good in my books). It was not until last night, late autumn here, that I felt this scent differently. Amber, spice and richness combined with lily made it into an opulent scent, in this cold and gloomy weather. This is a woody, spicy, warm lily, with Her Highness Lily-white flower reigning over spices. I have eau de toilette concentration.I think the key is to choose the weather and the way to wear it which would bring the warmth, otherwise, for many, it may be quite a difficult fragrance to tame. Enjoy it to those who know how to do it:)

Don’t recall how I acquired this bottle because I didn’t buy it myself. I have a full 3.4 oz bottle of this and tested it out. It’s not horrible, but it’s not the greatest on me. It seems to be lacking something that would make it great. As one previous poster said she layered it with Alien. So I did the same…wow…that’s it. That’s what was missing. Now it smells great. Very soft and flirty with a hint of sensuality. I was almost going to put this up for sale, but now that I have a layering partner I think I will keep it for a while. Thanks for the tip! Such awesome ideas on here.
EDIT: I think I’m going to go ahead a swap this one out if anyone is interested. While it does work with Alien, all I can smell a few hours later is Alien, so I don’t really need this when Alien overpowers it so much in the end. PM me with offers.

If you like the smell of Ambre Solaire sun oil, you’ll love this fragrance.

When will I learn to stay away from anything with violets or violet leaves!
This is a nice warm oriental however the violet leaves are overwelming to me.. VERY GREEN.. if that works for you this would be great, unfortunately greens turn very sour on my acidic skin..
I’m not saying this is a bad scent just bad on me.
HEAVY sillage and even after scrubbing it off hours ago I can still smell it lightly 12 hrs later
    —–
update — what I have is the sparkling version although based on the notes it smells to me more like this one ..??

This was my first experience with white lily, and Oh-my-gosh I just love this! I was reluctant to sample it at first, simply because I CANNOT STAND DKNY woman. However, this is completely different. The amber and spices warm up the white flowers beautifully, and the potion becomes one that is opulent,
