Description

A new limited edition fragrance Dolly Girl Lil’ Starlet by Anna Sui came in April 2008. It is inspired by young girls’ dreams and desires for glory, popularity and Hollywood.

This fragrance brings accentuated fruity-aquatic notes. Bright, refreshing and romantic, it evokes sensations of a sunset at the ocean shore while the air bursts with scents and aromas of fruits carried by the sea breeze.

Anna Sui Dolly Girl Lil’ Starlet opens with aromas of green pear and luminous sparkly citruses. The heart reveals fresh dew pearls on peony and Madonna lily petals, while the base introduces gourmand plum aroma, and sensual musk.

The fragrance comes in a modern bottle of a recognizable style and design. It is available as 30ml (1 fl.oz.) and 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) EDT, with matching fragrant bath in 200ml (6.9 fl.oz.) size.

Besides the fragrant collection, Anna Sui has launched a decorative cosmetic collection which includes waterproof mascaras and eyeliner pencils, lip glosses, and nail colors.

This is so cute! It starts out very fresh, with a pronounced sweet lemon. I definitely get a beach vibe from this at the start – it makes me want to grab my bathing suit and head for the sand! Perhaps this one should have been called “at the beach” :P.
Lil’ Starlet dries down to a very pleasant flowery plum that is just a tad sweet. It does retain the freshness of the top notes, making it ideal for hot weather.
Longevity is moderate and sillage is moderate, which is pretty nice for as fresh and citrusy a fragrance as this is!
And true to Anna Sui style, the bottle is to die for! Love!

I like the initial burst of citrus, and I wouldn’t say I disliked this, because I don’t,but I’m not really getting many of the notes listed like plum, lily and peony, which is a shame as I love lily. What I am getting is a very savoury dry down almost like celery salt, perhaps this is the sea breeze element, but very masculine and spicy.
I love Anna Sui fragrances normally but this isn’t fruity or floral at all after about 2 minutes of a very brief opening.
I love the Dolly Girl bottles I think they’re original and have a great vintage 1920’s jazz age look.

Okay, update: I just pulled this out in 80 degree weather to try it again, and actually don’t hate it. In -30 weather in Alaska, it was just cold smelling, now it’s refreshing. Lol – we’ll see if that lasts!

I thought I might like this, but I don’t. I’m sure it could be great on someone else, but with my body chemistry, all I get for the first hour is a really sharp, almost sour citrus that burns my nose and ends up giving me a headache. After the dry down, there’s still that piercing citrus but underneath it all a little hint of pear and plum. My daughter LOVES this perfume, but I just can’t wear it.

This was my blind-buy, because i felt in love with the bottle. Unfortunately the scent didn’t suit me at all, it smelled like spoiled tobacco if it makes any sense. I gave it to my mother and am waiting fot her to finish it, so I can have this beautiful bottle again!

I am surprised people don’t understand the whole doll head thing Anna was trying to do here. I think they look pretty but that’s just me. Like in a theatrical dressing room where they have the dolls head for the wigs to go on. I like it. It’s quirky. The smell, well it starts off fruity like grapefruit and sharp on me. Then when it settles it takes on a powdery smell but sweet. I do like it. You need the skin chemistry for this because it could smell very sharp and peppery if it doesn’t suit you. I found it lasted a couple of hours and I sprayed it again so I could notice it more but it was there it hadn’t vanished like some perfumes do. The price is cheap and they are easy enough to find, I would probably get it again. It is not a safe one to buy for someone else though because as I said it could turn nasty on their skin. Good for hot days too.

Dislike. If i wanted a basic supermarket deodorant, i ll get some from the supermarket for a few dollars. This is a disappointing alcohol sharp citrusy smell that is nothing special at all. Not worth the 37 USD. Unsophisticated, and not very special.

I agree. The bottle and the packaging are stunningly eye-catching. got a 50ml bottle yest in waterford as 1 of my perfume purchases along with escada taj sunset gift set and beyonce heat rush(which they dont sell in the twn where i live). anyways bought this blind buy as i normally really adore anna sui perfumes. BIG MISTAKE! SHOULD OF LISTENED TO MY OWN SAGE ADVISE AND NOT BEEN SO IMPULSIVE!. HAHA. Only tested it on my skin onroute back home. on my skin can only be described as smelling like a mix of plastic and burnt hair.Had to check out notes on your fantastic website and discovered reason.ORANGE/PEONY COMBO!.Shame that the juice inside wasnt as beautiful as the bottle!

    Proper quick review:
I used a generous amount of perfume (I would say I used 10 to 15 sprays) this morning.
The opening smelled like a fresh mix of pear and aldehydes (yes, I know, no aldehydes in there).
After about 15 minutes, I smelled a very powdery and intense peony note which lasted for about an hour before Lil Starlet changed into a very creamy, feminine, and sweet (must be the plum) hint of perfume which stays very close to the skin.
After 2+ hours only someone who hugged me would be able to smell it as there is just a hint of sweet, clean bodylotion left.
After 4 hours the scent was no longer noticeable at all.
I am ok with topping up during the day so it is a LIKE for me!

I smelt this fragrance on somebody else and loved it. LOVED IT! But when I tried it on myself I was disappointed.
What it smelt like (on that other person) was sweet, tropical and breezy. It was also intoxicating and addictive. I had to ask what it was. Even though she was a complete stranger, I could not let this *gorgeous* scent get away. I was so eager to try it on myself when I got to the perfume shop the next day. But on me it was just sweet, artificial and “run of the mill”. I guess that’s what happens when you have high expectations… the scent is never as good as the first time, that mysterious enchanting fragrance… which caught you off guard…

I absolutely love this fragrance! It’s so fresh and romantic. The staying power isn’t the best though.. so I made sure to get another bottle ;]
