Loved this scent, the old version (with the sticker) is so much better than the newer version. The other day i bought Trussardi – My Land and it gave me the same vibe as the older version of D&G PH. It totally brought me back to the 90’s. Both stand out from the crowd.
Dof – :
I had that perfume in the past….probably 15 years ago, maybe more. It’s strange how one’s taste can change through the years. Now,I really ask myself what was wrong with me,to put such a scent on my skin? When I smell it on someone in the crowd(it is very rare, for my goods),it really reppels me,so annoying, like something you don’t wan’t to inhale no more, even for a fraction of time, and even then,it’s too much. That’s how much I dislike it.I can not detect what, probably sweetnes, powderness, but it’s not just sweetness, because I really love joop pour homme,it’s just some strange combination that immediatelly pulls me away.I would never ever put that thing on my skin again.
xiaomaqq – :
Damn, that scent that every woman called sexy and manly. This is a classic up there with there 90s classics like Gucci, Armani, Joop and Chanel. This stuff still gets noticed in 2018. Certified panty dropper

Omg this was it IT scent for men at the super sexy all night club parties in NYC in the late 90s 1997-2000 . I loved it soo much , it instantly made a man go from ok to yum. Btw im a female.year later 2016 i got myself a bottle sadly it lost some of its ummp longevity and sillage…..whyyyy did you change this heavenly creation. You are doing a disservice to men, and women everywhere

I have recently just purchased a 4.2oz tester bottle with the sticker on it. I have read where the 4.2oz bottles are the most faked, and was curious if they faked the tester bottles?

Would this be from 2013?
Thanks!

I had this bottle forever, so I must have the vintage. Smells great and the sillage is really performing on this cool spring day. Glad I seen they have reformulated it, will use this sparingly.
mergen.79 – :
The vintage was powerful, sexy, and the ladies loved it. Unfortunately the reformulation performs nothing like the original.
atvneo – :
Soft lavender with a very good dose of lemon. This citrus and lavender combo is so nice and rich.In the dry down the citrus effect is still active, but combined with this soapy tobacco notes and lavender. Its so fresh to my nose and wearing this in summer is going to be so easy. Very decent longevity more than 6 hours and on clothes 10+ hours for sure. The sillage is also very good.
The bottle I got is a 2009 Made in Germany bottle.
I haven’t smelt the vintage nor was I aware of this war going on between bottles made in Italy, Germany ,UK …..Anyway I loved this version and it makes me happy.
vovik700 – :
There’s no more this version, because the reformulation is different I tried the new formulation from France and I can tell you is different the vintage version made in Italy.
It goes to be similar at drydown after 2 hour when it reach the dry down it become closest the vintage but you can feel that it citrus and more Tobacco at final.
If really love the vintage and want something identical I invite you try Uomini from Boticario; it is a Brazilian brand but this perfume I can tell you is 99% similar the vintage version.
I have the vintage bottle and I did the test; therefore, there’s no difference between it.
Maybe the longevity and some notes but the smell is 100% the same; better than the new one formulation that is not bad but I prefer the vintage because is sexier and the compliment through the roof.
If you guys have any question let me know, I will help you, that’s the reason from this community; help each other.

finally i have the euroitalia vintage version. it’s so chic, manly and sophisticated. a bit mature if u smell it now but in the 90’s it was very popular among the young crowd.i remember the famous tv spot in the 1994 with a young monica bellucci, beautiful and sensual. the scent opens with citrus notes but the main note is tobacco(cigar for me), in the middle there are a lot of things, lavender, sage, sandalwood..this is what the uk reformulation lacks, it is very similar but it misses some notes, so the last version is less rich .in the uk formulation the citrus note is more powerful and a bit cheap, instead the cigaro smell is more prominent and refined in the old version. what the vintage reminds to me? a man between 28-35 in a sunny morning, smoking a cigar or an expensive tobacco in front of the sea. not a rare picture for who like me lives in the south of italy. performance is good, not a beast but nothing to complain. longevity: 5-6hours sillage:1-2 hours. projection: good, not offensive but detectable. age: 28 and up. occasion: everytime, everywhere. un classico inimitabile!

This is a central italian kitchen, on a nice, cloudless but still not warm early spring day.
It’s a very classical (and classy) composition, reminding of the current formulation of YSL La nuit (wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t the inspiration for that mega hit in the first place) with added virginia tobacco to the base, giving it a slightly more sour and mannish appeal. This appeal can be percieved as a bit off putting in this day and age as it squarely puts it in the man cologne group, no doubt about it.
The pepper combined with lavander gives it this cold spring feel, but it is a spring day, not night as the citrises and jasmine don’t allow it to go full dark as La nuit does in the drydown.
Good indoors longevity, struggles a bit if otside, goes easily from 6 to 9 hours.
Projection is good for the first two hours than it slowly deminishes up intill 4 hours in when it becomes mostly a skin scent. Sillage is great, as this one smells better from a distance.
A solid B, because it’s (and it wasn’t) nothing groundbreaking but a very well executed composition.

Very masculine and long lasting masterpiece it will make women go crazy haha with this citrus and fancy smelling cologne you will have a good experience more than the new 2012 version because that UK from 2012 smells like pure tobacco and the smell is very unbearable, if you want something great the vintage D&G that was launched in 1994 made in Italy is the perfect one

It’s funny how people go bonkers over D&G By Man, when this vintage D&G Pour Homme is easily as good. It’s actually my choice between the 2 as I’ve owned both and recently sold off my bottle of By Man, but I’ll always have Pour Homme in the collection.
In fact I just found another stash of vintage 2007 bottles and bought 3 more. While I think the reformulated version is still a great scent in the scheme of things (especially amongst today’s many ‘sweet messes’ of men’s perfumery), it doesn’t hold a candle to the vintage. This is easily one of the greatest men’s fragrances ever created – distinctive, unapologetically masculine, extremely well-blended and versatile. Wearing this today I couldn’t help but put some thoughts down on paper.
If you happen across vintage Made In Italy D&G PH, buy it. Heck, blind buy it. Just get your nose on this if you haven’t, you won’t regret it!
gamesea – :
Please change this picture back to the original bottle to cut down on all the confusion. The comments for the original version are not meant for the juice which comes out of this pictured bottle. The original juice is simply amazing and in my opinion the new version doesn’t hold a candle to it.

Way more of a complex smell than the 2012 reformulation. No noticable difference IMO but im glad D&G reformulated this fragrance and made it a less complex formula 🙂

Andreyerurlcourgy – :
Vintage was exceptional, competed well against the super slick Armani Pour Homme of the 80’s It was a gift in the mid nineties from a girlfriend. Used it up and purchased a 50ml, sorry no, 75ml in the mid 2000’s and meh??!!
A Vintage bottle is coming my way. We’ll see.
Later,
Vintage 2004 is as close to the original as I remember.
pe109736 – :
I am not writing often reviews, but in this case I would like to warn those who are thinking of buying this.
This is NOT the original like it was back in 1994.
Instead of originals rich thick scent it has a very synthetic
modern style that unfortunately fails .I enjoyed the first hour at best and then as soon the lemon top notes settle down, then it is over.
I gave it some tries days and days later to be sure that I am not wrong. I gave the bottle to a friend .
thump down!!!

Not going to add to the millions of words that have already been said about this masterpiece. If you are, or call yourself a collector of fragrance and if you do not have this in your collection then I’m afraid you are just kidding yourself.
I have been hearing some really good things about the currently made in the UK reformulation, thus I will make my way to sephora soon enough and find out if it comes anywhere close to the orginal masterpiece that was 1994’s Dolce&Gabbana pour homme.

@Fragrantica – Can someone please put the “correct image” of this fragrance back up? This page is supposed to be for the original 1994 formula of Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme, hence their should be an image of the original bottle to reflect that! The image that is currently displayed above is not the correct image for the original fragrance & hence will cause confusion.. The image of the bottle should be of the same bottle seen in the ad campaign next to it with the sticker..

Quite simply, the essence of goodness.
This was the fragrance that I wore to my grade 8 graduation and it brings back the memory of dancing with this really tall girl who liked me. Hahaha, nothing became of it, but the pleasant feelings remained.
An elegant spicy scent that’s beautifully smooth on the dry-down. In my opinion, a fragrance that every man should own. Very safe blind buy.
Imagine: Sitting at a grand piano in jeans and a sport coat, playing Franz Shubert’s Op.90 Impromptu in A Flat Major. You don’t care if anyone is watching because you’re lost in the moment. The light is dim and the music reverberates around the small hall where you remember starring in Hamlet last spring.
Think: Beautiful, Spicy, Smooth, Elegant, Sophisticated
Overall: 10/10 – I’ve never met a woman or man who doesn’t like this one.
llolo – :
I can’t fully agree with the reviewer below. The new formulation is very similar to the vintage but it is inferior. Its not as deep and its weaker with less concentration of oils. The vintage is better to me personally and I wish they kept the fragrance the same. But the new one also smells good, just watered down, a little cheaper smelling and less depth. But fresher and maybe a little less powdery
labirint – :
Do not hesitate in buying the new 2012 bottle made in the uk it is almost the same if anything to my nose it smells even better just give it a chance for the fans of the sticker bottle. The tobacco is a little toned down here but the citrus is amplified making it fresher. amazing scent doesn’t matter which formulation you buy i have one multiple bottles of all the formulation.
dvoehnik – :
Excellent perfume to be honest ! can’t ever put you down
DARLIBG – :
Back in 1997 this was a revelation, I don’t know if this has been reformulated since. However when I first bought it, it was spicy and woody. A lovely smell which was a marker for the 90s. Countless people I knew had never even heard of Dolce Gabbana, and named it Dodgy Banana. A lot people slatted this fragrance according to the wearer, yet I caught several of the people who slated this buying this after smelling it on me. It seems that they were uncomfortable in letting you know it was a great fragrance to your face, yet would secretly buy it. Living in Britain I found that this was indicative of many things like the locals slagging of Curry, but then making it their national dish, the BBC banning Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and then years later rating it as an iconic song, and vetoing rap and Hip Hop only to come to the realisation that this would be all they would play in later years. This fragrance is like social commentary where the people in denial were actually impressed but hated in public to affirm that, only then covertly accept it herald the applause it should have got, it is a great timeline fragrance which actually shows that this fragrance is indicative of a social commentary and views of the 80s and 90s. I had this fragrance in hospital as I was in there for 6 months. I was just out of ITU and wore it on being admitted to the General ward. The nurses and Physios all made the body language it was the worst fragrance out, as soon as I gave it to the “English” person next to me, the same nurses and aux staff, loved it and said how exotic, and sexy it was. I guess this fragrance smells better on Pale complexions than dark complexions. The young white male I gave it, said I know what they said to you when you wore it, and I was shocked that their view changed so dramatically when I wore it. That was the time I thought it is a real disadvantage being coloured in England. It was the same when my mother bought in curry and the whole ward complained and the nurses rand around opening the windows, and doors, saying that P*k* smell. Then the first thing that ran out was the curry and the Pa*ki smell seemed not to matter. It is the same with this fragrance. Often I have learnt it is not the fragrance, but what colour skin who wear it! Opinion will change unfairly so! Maybe the ingredients in fragrances do not seem to be suitable with the dark skins, or at least peoples perception of it seems to change relative to that.
ByronTom – :
My college roommate loved it absolutely and let me try it on. It smells like weird plastic on my skin for some odd reason. Not for me but it could lovely on some people.
bigsam – :
I received a miniature bottle of this vintage and i’m totally disappointed. In the beginning you can feel the strong citrus and lavander, with some tobacco, but then, the smell ends up having a horrible vibe of clothes washing detergent, and it totally disappeared in 2 hours. Maybe it’s just an expired bottle, idk.
sonsneodent – :
I can’t be more thrilled, having recently scored a 125ml, 1998 vintage bottle of this love potion on eBay. I hadn’t smelled it in years, remembering how it had morphed into the signature scent of too many lounge lizards applying too many sprays of it. Somehow though, in today’s age of inoffensive aquatics and unrefined olfactory axe-ssaults, it seems the perfect time to rediscover this ode to the sensuous gentleman (so well-put, Platinum1.) This is one of the rare fragrances that evokes, in multilayered splendor, the essence of what used to be (and for some of us, still are)admirable traits in a man. If being charming, debonair, chivalrous, engaging, yet approachable and down-to-earth sound like you, then your qualities will resonate in tandem with this fragrance as it exudes from you. And if you’re working up to those qualities, D&GPH will be a wonderful companion, a template to emulate, along your journey of self-discovery. To paraphrase a line from golfers, be the juice!
FAB9k – :
~ Just a quick review based on a generous sample gift of the vintage original formulation. With this pour homme’s long lasting lemon/lavender opening it surely had lured in many a wearer and wooed admiring noses in it’s true smooth sandalwood sillage! My loyalty to Platinum Egoiste has kept me from discovering other nineties gems but this is one I am glad someone knew it is “a must try” sensual gentleman’s scent. The sweet tobacco here is subtle, suave and oozes elegant sophistication. The lingering basenotes to me is where the tonka and wood work their magic captivating my taste. This would be a great D&G to rediscover as it’s popularity in the spotlight has decreased but what a statement it could still make! I have never smelled the reformulation and I would be afraid to now and tarnish the image of my treasured 5ml of this masculine perfumery classic.
Kind Regards, Plat ~

@shayz – Yes, I am not sure what the logic behind this is.. It seems that they are trying to update the site.. They are changing pictures of the fragrances and even changing the pictures of the notes but “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.. The correct picture for this page was on here previously and now someone had to try to update the page and put the “wrong” picture on here.. Even some of the pictures of the notes they are changing do not look half as nice as the original picture.. Once again “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.. There is nothing wrong with updating the site but don’t try to fix things that don’t need fixing because than you mess it up in the process..

It is true I got confused
The bottle In the picture is the Second formula produced in Germany .
This is not the first bottle And it is not exactly the same smell .
taker86 – :
The picture above which was just changed does not match! This page was supposed to be for the original Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme, the original formula “Made In Italy” with the sticker on the bottle.. The first picture on this page was correct so I do not know why the picture was just changed to the reformulated bottle.. Now it seems like their are two different pages for the reformulation and none of the original formula? Their is already a whole separate page for the reformulated release of Pour Homme.. Keep the original picture up, this is just going to confuse everyone..

I have not smelled the reformulation so i can’t say (I still have a weee tiny bit from a 1999 batch and I will never touch it afraid I’ll never smell it again LOL) a word about it but the vintage stuff is gold in a bottle!

This to me is a perfect 10 in every catagory!

I have kind of a love-hate relationship with this fragrance. The first time I smelled it (years ago) I was blown away and had to have it. But after the initial blowing (no pun intended), it can lose it’s appeal. I can compare it to fine pastries: no matter how delicious they are, too much of ’em can make you sick. That’s the case with D&G. It’s an attention grabber for sure (it goes without question someone’s gonna stop you and ask what you’re wearing), but it’s sweetness can be a little overbearing after a while. It’s pretty intense.
It’s also very distinct and has been around for more than a minute; and because of this, I’d qualify it as banal at this point. Don’t misunderstand; I do recommend this. I’d even say it’s safe to blind buy, it’s that good. But it’s not for everyday wear. I spritz this on occasionally, when I want to feel young and energetic.
Some thoughts:
-Again, safe to blind buy. This really is a classic every oollector should have.
-Shines best at the club (or driving around in your metaphoric convertable with the top down), but again, it’s a KNOWN fragrance! Easily identifiable. So if you don’t mind that, go for it.
-35 is the maxiumum age a dude should be wearing this. And even that is pushing it.
-Unless you’re a teen, I’d say leave this alone for date night. You’ll come across as either cheesy or a player.

I had this, when I was young. Always loved it, but I think I felt it a bit too mature back then.
Now, imagine my wonder when, stumbling upon this page, I started wondering what happened to the bottle. Took a trip to my parents a few days later, and there it was, neatly packed away with my things. With its little silver badge peeling away.
The bottle must be nearly twenty years old, and hasn’t been preserved with any special means. I’m trepidatious… but it actually does still smell almost like I remember. Almost. Maybe it doesn’t, or maybe I’m just imagining it because it can’t, right?
Musky, with spicy, peppery citrus… it is quite the perfect mix of all with the lavender floating in and out.
…Anyway. I’d give the original formulation a blind buy recommendation.

This was a re-acquaintance of an old favorite when this stuff first came out,boy did it not let me down. Great pleasant office scent, 3 sprays. Lasted all day. still had close projection 9 hrs later. It may be an older frag, But it holds it’s own weight compared to today’s office friendly frags.
Edit:
Was able to get an original bottle, from Italy, the one with the sticker… Wow, the difference is huge between this and the latest formulation, now it makes me want to get the 1st re-form for Germany… The tobacco is a lot more prominent in this orig. Takes me back…love this juice

Long lasting fragrance. I always heard compliments “What are you wearing…such a lovely smell?”
Brarymnardons – :
This is what a man should smell like, sweet but musky, strong but gentle. My Dad had it back in 1997 and he wouldn’t let me use it, then gave it to to my big brother who never wore it so I would use it tell it ran out in 8th grade. Many years later I bought what I thought was the classic D&G to only find out it was a remake….No Bueno…. I could tell it wasn’t the same nor did I like it much. I just ordered some online, comes in Tuesday…if it is the original I’ll buy 2 more and one for my old man as a thanks for showing me it even if he didn’t let me wear it.

I LOVE this one and have for YEARS so much that i’ve purchased it in the past just to have a deep inhale from time to time. It’s that damn sexy! I have yet to smell a cologne that is similar to it. I don’t think I would classify it as a 90s smell, although it might have been the 1Million of the 90s. To me, this is straight up masculine and sexy. I wish more men would wear it.
женюсик – :
This is a fun perfume to wear. With a big dose of lavender, lots of warm tobacco and a sense of leather in a great combination. This warm, spicy, woody scent reminds me of DK’s unleaded. And i think is the best lavender based scent i’ve tried. Overall this 1994 edition of D&G Homme is a must have.
nafanail – :
“Out of the way here comes your daddy”…that is what Dolce & Gabbana for men is saying when I wear it. Wow if this cologne does not grab your girls attention I do not know what will. Strong and bold this cologne is the enforcer in my gang of colognes.
Musk and spice have never been blended perfectly like this since D&G came out. Its an amazing example of what a pure masculine scent is meant to be. Heavy and relentless, D&G has excellent longevity about 8 hours on me and the sillage is ridiculous I mean you can smell this in a fish market and say damn I can still smell it. Maybe a little too overwhelming for some noses it packs a punch.
D&G is a classic scent and hopefully the younger generation does not get discouraged to wear it fearing they might smell like thier father. What else can I say even with the new formula its still an excellent fragrance.

Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme. Well, I had the reformulated fragrance about two years ago, and absolutely loved it. I needed to get myself a new bottle, but never really got around to buying it because I have so many different fragrances and it was not really top of my list. Well, that was until I found an old pre-reformulated bottle on ebay, It was used, about 95% full and with the old sticker on the bottle. I could not believe my luck, and I got the bottle for $39.00 including shipping, that’s a 4.2oz 125ml bottle as well, CRAZY!!! Well that’s enough of that story, sorry about that.
I just want to give my opinion on the differences between the two, and there are differences!!
The original is a little richer with that herbal feel, and has much more of that tobacco note. The tobacco note is much more prominent, and plays really well with the Lavender, Cinnamon, Tarragon and Geranium. I also get a strong Cardamom note, but it is not listed in the notes. After about one hour, the fragrance becomes a beautiful Tobacco and Lavender scent, with a little Cinnamon and Pepper. After a few hours the Tonka Bean and Sandalwood give a sweet creaminess to the fragrance.
The fragrance then takes on a soft, powdery and slightly tobacco scent, which is very, very beautiful at this stage. I really love this scent, well done D&G. But why on earth did you have to go and change this fragrance???
I give this fragrance 9/10, I love this stuff!!!

I strated using this when it was lauched.I wore it until 2012. I was not sure that something happened to the perfume since my last 2-3 bottles (boght around 2010) reminded me of gasoline (like when you are filling your car tank). It is when I read on this site that I realized that they have changed it. The change is not really apparent to my nose and most persons would not notice it.
I made a side by side test and the difference is not that drastic.
It is funny when I read about how masculine this perfume is. When it was launched, it was clearly an androgynous perfume mostly worn by gays. I recalled wearing the legendary BY (sadly discontinued) and DG Pour Homme was way better. This perfume remebers me my youth.
It is still possible to buy the silver label here in montreal, I have a 75 ml, but there are 125ml avail
