I love this house and I love Brent Leonesio’s sense of humor regarding perfume. (His website and his blog are hoots: smellbent.typepad.com for the blog) I do think that sometimes his concepts get ahead of the juice itself. Tokyo Milk also has this problem.
Note: reviewing the spray, not the oil. This is definitely an aromatic but I’m struggling to find the “woody”. It opens with a delightful cloud of very bitter orange with noticeable caraway and curry. Celery is the next note to appear, which is no small feat with so much citrus. It eventually settles back into a very authentic accurate orange: the way an orange smells if you pull it right off the tree on a hot sunny day so it’s still got sharp green notes and the aromatic oils haven’t evaporated yet. I never have found the woods or the heat of the pepper.
This particular scent also suffers from a problem I’ve encountered with some of his other scents: weak projection. The durability is always good since he uses high quality ingredients but some of them fade back to your skin and can’t otherwise be smelled after a fairly short period of time. In any case I recommend his products, particularly his sample packs, since the prices are reasonable and even the misses tend to be interesting. I particularly recommend the Leisure Cruise lines.
Sillage: Starts strong, fades back after about an hour
Duration: stays on the skin for 4-5 hours
Fabulosity: not especially
Price to value ratio: good
