I used to own a perfume as a child that was very similar to this so the moment I smelled it for the first time I was transported back to those happy sweet childhood memories.
Sweet is the appropriate word to be used here as this really is a true gourmand.
The waxy iris that so much resembles an old liptick is to die for in my opinion but I can see it being polarizing.
The lavander, the cocoa and (even though slightly less) the leather are also present thoughout but to my nose the iris really steals the show and the reason why it is so good.
The projection is strong but not a beast and it lasts for hours.
(You can still smell it on your skin the morning after)
Despite being a strong like, I am more of a fan of the “Intense” version which contrary to some other intense flankers really is a stronger and richer composition.

Such a great scent but such a shame on performance.
    Longevity 2-4 hours
    Projection 1-2 hours
    Scent 9/10

I got a sample from Notino, I tried myself on the skin and piper stripes with others samples of Bentley intense and absolute, Bvlgari Black and Cartier Declaration, and unfortunately was the weakest performance of all. Beautiful composition but very weak performance, not even compared with DHI or DHP. A shame

January 2017 batch bought at Duty Free. This fragrance is frankly magnificent. I bought it at the end of March, and in my climate, I didn’t feel like it meshed well with higher heat (above 85), though I enjoyed it very much the few times I wore it.
Flash forward to early September with cloudy skies, a nice breeze, and temperatures in the 70s. Dior Homme is divine. I never had the original version but this one smells and lasts just fine. I’m getting longevity throughout the entire workday and a sillage cloud wafting around gustily for more than six hours off of four sprays, two to each side of the neck.
This is no linear scent. It develops throughout the day, each stage being as pleasant as the previous, though each is quite different. DH is in my upper echelon, and I expect it will remain there for some time.

There’s not many fragrances that I own that can change my mood. Not fully change my mood, but every time I catch a whiff, it changes my mindset for that split second.
It’s an automatic smile. A jolt of positivity every time that whiff comes around.
This is not your overly masculine, fresh-spicy, youthful, energetic scent. This is a scent that defines confidence by being daring. I never thought I would like this scent. I actually used to hate it.
I wore this to a casual dinner date with my wife 2 nights ago, and I must say, it became an instant love. It somehow gave me confidence. It made me feel important even though I am a nobody. It portrays a lifestyle of wealth.
On paper sure, it smells like a cosmetic bag/lip stick/play-dough, etc, but once you wear this, you will understand the importance behind the creation. This stuff is incredible. This is one you must wear before you decide on it.
This is niche quality, hands down. Sure, the performance isn’t the best, but for an evening event, this is perfect.
This hit beyond all of my expectations. Thank you, Dior.

“Dior H’omme is more to me than just another fragrance. It changed my whole perception of what a men’s fragrance is, and what a men’s fragrance can be – which is effectively anything.”

Nice smell, but longevity and sillage are too weak.

For me, this thing is between Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond and Barby’s Ken Doll. The opening is so unisex, so if you’re wearing Dior Homme with casual clothes, but not the white shirt and formal jacket you’d cause a surprise for others that this is a men fragrance.
I suggest wearing this one with white snow shirt and the formal suit ONLY. It will bring you to the top of professionality at the office, and you’ll be most sensual and sophisticated for your woman at the date, or mr.Mysteryman while clubbing.
Dior chose for this scent Jude Law and this person describe this fragrance totally. He’s not the beefy brutal guy, but he’s confident, smart and has a magic smile.

It really is amazing. Intoxicating, somewhat gourmand, but also fresh…haven’t smelled anything like it

Modern, sumptuous, sexy and mysterious. This has got to be, in my eyes, the perfect scent for a MAN. Buttery iris, powdery cocoa and rough leather, these are the main notes to my nose. Whenever I wear it I feel like an italian playboy, confident and bold, but not to flashy, more of a discreet one. Although french, it looks like Demachy captured the italian spirit into this bottle.
Forget about Valentino Uomo and forgive me for saying this, but it smells like a ” second-hand Dior Homme “.

Classy with beautiful iris..yes it has a lipstick vibe..with my body this one has a good longevity up to 8h..sillage low to med..thats okay..i think it has to be like that..no need to bomb everyone with that iris note…good job dior
I think its one of dior masterpiece…
    Reaallly love…

    Pleasant and well composed
I am one of the minority that finds this fragrance unisex and even slightly feminine, and I think that is because of the iris note. For me It does smell like sweet hair spray or the inside of a women’s purse.
Overall this is elegant, modern, and even daring and respect it
If you have a nose like myself, then YSL M7 absolu will do you well
I do get annoyed that fragrances are reformulated so many times
Overall 6 to 8 hours longevity, fair projection and good sillage
    A masterpiece here

Very pleasant composition, the notes develop nicely on my skin. I get mainly the powdery iris, lavender and cocoa. Comforting and soothing in itself. Made to please. Definitely more wintry than summery fragrance. At the same time, the clean powdery notes prevent it from getting too cloying and syrupy even in warm weather.
But it’s also very androgynous, which I’m not comfortable with. It has no edges whatsoever, everything is smooth, sweet on the verge of being gourmand, probably the powdery element contributes to the feminine associations as well. So, I would rather smell it on a woman or spray my pillows before going to sleep, rather than wear it myself out in public. Smelling it on other dudes, I always get the impression of someone trying too hard to get positive attention. You know, the Jude Law type of person with a lot of charisma and superficial glibness (classic narcissistic traits), which could charm some and arise suspicion in others.

Very pleasant, comforting, wintery scent. I just wish it were a little stronger on my skin – it’s still faintly there after a couple of hours, but barely.

This is a BEAST. Powdery and warm, longevity is insane up to 12 hours and is noticed by people sitting couple feet away from me.
Iris, lavender and cacao in a cool/fresh powdery pack so it can not only be used during fall and winter, but also spring. Summer would be only recommended for cloudy or rainy days.
Masterpiece, bought a 5ml sample to test, I’ve waited for cloudy days and finally I gave it a try. People were turning their heads when I walked by on my way to work, in the office it was not obnoxious, it was classy and warming.
I found my aother fall/winter fragrance along with Calvin Klein Reveal and Armani Code Profumo. Definitely gonna buy more of this magic potion. Tremendous!

One of my favorites at the moment. This smells delicious.
I’m not a fan of gourmand fragrances but this one is an exception (if you consider this a gourmand). You can smell quality on this. It’s waxy, heavy and a bit powdery in the drydown but in a unique way. The cacao (chocolate) in the drydown is the superstar of this fragrance. Plus the hint of leather adds a masculine quality to it. I prefer this over DHI. That chocolate smell in the drydown is just so addictive. I notice for dior fragrances it’s the drydown that I usually enjoy and dior homme is one of them.
    Rating:

    Longevity – 8/10
Compliments – none so far =)

I would approach this one from a slightly different prospective.
I can see that Dior Homme is a nice men’s “floral” fragrance in general. It smells smooth and expensive actually, although it can “dangerously” be put at the border line of being an unisex one, due to the powdery Iris. Having said that, if I have to choose between this one and Creed Green Iris Tweed, I would definitely go with Dior Homme. I personally don’t find the “green-y sharp” tone in Creed alluring and pleasant to my nose, and the Iris there doesn’t seem to fit in smoothly either.
In a slight contrary with Dior Fahrenheit, one of my other strong likes from Dior house for men’s (with a seductive leather note), Dior Homme is “sweeter” for sure. If I was a man on a date mission, and happened to own both Fahrenheit and Homme, I would wear Fahrenheit (either dressing up or down) for day time, and then apply Homme for the evening. That way, the two would still compliment each other to my advantage and best interest. Homme best serves toward an evening event, IMO. It is more romantic, and “private” than the energetic Fahrenheit, in the dimmed light of an evening ambience. And here comes an interesting and important concept/twist that makes Dior Homme my preferable one as a men’s night fragrance.
I have found Dior Homme performs better and becomes more intimate and sensual when it is combined with wine. If I was planning to take my date out to a nice dinner with some alcohol involved (of course it should), I definitely would wear this Homme. Please don’t take it lightly the fact that your date might smell the drinking alcohol from your breath and skin also, as one of your “scents” (especially from the chest up), NOT just your perfume/colonge only. It likely happens more so, toward the end of the dinner date, unless you two plan on not drinking at all (which I really doubt). And this is the moment, with the smell of wine, Homme will become irresistible, more attractive and “complete” to my nose. Fragrances in general are personal! One’s body pH/chemistry combined with drinking alcohol/wine smell…sometimes can help enhancing a mediocre fragrance to make it better and more interesting, or in some occasions, can also “bring down” even a perfume with the highest rate!
The combination of scents between the smell of wine and the smell of this fragrance somehow makes sense together, as if they are designed for each other. The “tart”, “zesty”, “tannins” taste/smell…from wine combining with the sweetness, bitterness, and smokey-ness from Homme give me a complete “scent” of a masculine and sexy gentleman.

I have tried this one many times. I had bought it a long rime ago and ultimiately got rid of it. Well, here I am again with another bottle. I could never fully commit but now I’m wearing daily.
The scent is nice floral and almost a baby powder type feel mixed with some deeper notes.
Office friendly. I say great dressed up best but works dressed casual as well.
    Scent is 8/10
    Longevity 5/10
It radiates a for about an hour then it’s skin scent on me.
    Overall performance is about 6/10.

Safe and pleasant – very much a crowd pleaser ‘mass production’ number – nothing special or intriguing but it would make a good office worn skin scent, or maybe to avoid offense on a first date.

    Fragrance -Dior Homme Christian Dior
    Bottle from – 2015
This fragrance reminds me of a man touched by love.
Dior Homme opens on my skin with a romantic, moderatly sweet and powdery iris softened by the timeless lavender laying on top of a warm, creamy and cozy cacao.
During mid development, iris becomes stronger and a bit more powdery with a nice touch of lightly vanillic amber and with a strong presence of slightly bitter and comforting cacao.
As time goes by,Dior Homme becomes a bit more elegant, woody and leathery with enough clean vetiver and earthy patchouli to keep it from getting too powdery, feminine or sweet.
    Longevity – 7/10(7+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 7/10(moderate projection for the first 2 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent’s evolution)
Weather -best in autumn, winter and spring.
    Age – 21+
    Compliments – 8/10
    Scent – 10/10
Main notes according to me – iris, cacao, amber, leather, lavender, vetiver.
The drydown is powdery, elegant and woody and I get some -patchouli,vanillic amber, leather and vetiver.
    Emotions –
    touched by love,cuddling,romantic,seductive,classy,elegant.
Occasion -perfect for date, romantic evening and intimate nights.
Could be a nice signature scent.Highly recommend this one.

i think dior homme doesnt need more reviews, because for me it can be easily considered an “hall of famer” of fragrance history. it’s popular so the notes are well known, iris, cacao, pathculi, leather etc…it’s sophistication in a bottle, superb and never boring. from 2000 until now dior homme is one of the best, u cant go wrong with this. great in nightout occasions and dates. it’s close to unisex side but it’s yet masculine scent. better during winter and fall. performance good to very good, the projection is great during the first hour. un capolavoro che sta facendo storia.

Just wanted to add: 2017 formulation lasts all day on me with 4 sprays, although close to the skin. Not bad!
Really nice and more casual, open version of DHI. Beautiful for daytime, has a calm, luxurious, comforting vibe. Love it.

The Dior website lists cardamom as a top note:
    “GUATEMALAN CARDAMOM
Grown in Guatemala, cardamom is extracted using steam distillation. It ideally complements woody men’s fragrances.
A very contemporary scent, it brings freshness to the top notes of Dior Homme.”
I also get pear, but that could be my imagination.

…Not my most complimented, not my best performing frag, not the strongest ect… But to me, it’s SO damn good!

DH is a very well-blended, elegant and mature scent.
It’s not for everyone for its iris note is very predominant and because of that it gives off a makeup-like smell for a very long time, which might be kinda feminine, yet very classy.
If you’re not into sweet fragrances, stay away from this one. Also, DH is very mature, I’d say ages 27+
Definitely not a blind-buy, a love or hate type of scent.

Last month I tried a current formula.
    And it’s completely watered down!!
In terms of the looking, the juice color is almost transparent.
And yes, smells very slightly, of course lasts for at most 3 hours…

Found an early 2014 bottle at Sephora
Love this stuff. It’s much more masculine than people say opposed to DHI which smells more cosmetic. I get leather petchuli and vetiver that balances it out. It’s much more wearable than DHI but DHI gets me much more compliments ( especially from women) so far because it’s stronger. I actually feel more confident wearing this stuff though for business. It’s the perfect cold weather Work scent. And it’s great for a cold weather first date- totally safe.
I have the silver tube version too and it performs a little better and I like the scent a hair more but this is still100% quality juice. If you can’t find the Silver tube go for this formula. And some reviewers that I really respect prefer black stem dh.

Man, I paid $55 for a 2017 bottle that has no POWER at all. How is this a night scent??? All I smell is Iris and leather. That lipstick vibe that people are talking about. Kind of like my $25 6.70z CK One Shock.
Edit: The scent is for daytime casual/dating scenarios only when the sun is out and a little warm. Since the scent is so weak in power, if there’s a slight cool breeze then don’t even think about it. I’d say this is for warm spring days/fall days. The beginning of the scent is very off putting. However, a few hours later, then it’s tolerable since you get a sweet vibe from it. I might have to pick up a clone bottle from Armaf since it’s only $25 that I can wear and won’t have to worry about my wallet as much.

Dior Homme, I have a real feeling of attachment to this frag. The Iris in this is amazing to me in the opening. then it turns warm heavy feel to me. The Coco and touch of leather are amazing to me. This line from the house of Dior is not cheap, but worth every penny. I feel very blessed to have this frag in my collection.

    More weareble version of DHI
Smell: 9/10 still prefer DHI though, but this one is more rounded, fresher, and more floral. This is better for daytime than DHI.
Performance: 5/10 Lacking. 3 hour longevity 1.5 hour projection and pretty soft.
Versatility: 9/10 Better than DHI, much better! Good for fall winter and spring, formal and casual.
Compliments: 8/10 Its alright but no invictus aqua.
Overall: 8/10 More wearable than DHI but worse in performance and smell.

OMG! This scent is pure art! Brilliant.
I’ve been wearing this scent for years now and has always been a go to favorite.

I know the term “masterpiece” is overly used on this site, but this is the real deal. Absolutely exquisite niche quality fragrance. The class and sophistication in this bottle is unmatched by any designer fragrance on the market. This one does take time to fall in love with. In fact, I didn’t even like it when I first sampled it, so if you try it and don’t like it initially, stick with it and give it a chance to grow on you. I have a 2016 bottle and it smells extremely close to the original formulation along with great performance. This is truly a work of art and is a must-have for any wardrobe.

So excited to get my 1.7 oz in the mail after not having it since all these years have passed. Such a beautiful and awesome smelling bottle of…. water. My bottle is empty… Empty after 3 days, because I was pissed. I got a compliment &it was noticed. But only because my … Arms.. Chest… Shirt… Jacket… Jeans..neck face and every inch of my freshly shaven bald ass head took a polluting and aggrivated assault of dior homme. Maybe they’ll start making this with a screw off cap. Pouring this on will surely save time and effort. I was a sucker for trying to make this work. Total waste of money.. And finger spritzing power.

A masterpiece ! This is how for me a sexy man should smell!
I bought it together with my son and for my son who although only 21 he appreciates matures sexy men perfumes… wish my husband loved it too but his signature is the old classic Armani which is fine but too citrusy for my taste

This fragrance took a few times for me to appreciate. I am in Love with this scent. It smells like iris with a woody cacao base and just the right amount of sweetness to make it pop. I first thought this was feminine, but now that I have worn it many times I change my mind. It really is a nice sophisticated gentlemans suit scent. It smells like a very rich man that does
Tolerate any childish nonsense. This is a mans fragrance. It’s a literal masterpiece. The only negative thing is of course the performance. It is trash. I see what people mean about reformulation. I would suggest Dior Homme Intense or Giving Valentino a try. It’s a shame this doesn’t last. You think it will be a beast and it turns out it’s very weak in longevity. I sometimes wonder if they reformulate these original fragrances so people will buy the Intense versions. Money grubbing scumbags. I thought people were exaggerating about the reformulation issue but after buying this and CH man, I am convinced. If I were you I would just bite the bullet and buy the Intense versions. This particular fragrance is obsolete in my opinion. Good day

I know this is a classic. I know it is on the Basenotes lists for beginners… I just… don’t like it. It has a vanilla base to my nose and I can’t stand vanilla/caramel notes. Ick. I think what I am smelling is what they are calling a leather note. Not a fan.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Among fragrances currently produced, this is my fall and winter favorite. It sometimes is said to have a “lipstick, grandma’s purse smell.” I think that is true for the first 30 minutes or so, and truthfully, I don’t care for that aspect. But afterwards, it unfolds into something beautiful. I find that there are a great number of scents that have top notes I do not like, and middle and base notes that I consider divine. It makes me wonder why perfumers create them this way. Since top notes are what one experiences when testing in the store, you would think they would want to instead let you experience the heart from the start. Just a thought. As for this one, I just make sure I put it on at least 30 minutes before leaving the house, and know that thereafter those around me want to stand close by.

This is indeed my favourite one for winter and fall season, even though I am used to wear it often in summer and spring too! I simply adore it…I started with a 1ml sample and my ex russian Gf fell in love with it…from the airport she sent me as present a 50ml bottle of Dior Homme.
I finished it in half a year and now I’ve bought a 100ml version of it. It’s so classy, masculine, dark and romantic..therefore is made with Iris of my Tuscany region!
I never get annoyed to it, Dior Homme surprises me any time I wear it…sillage is good, long lasting and indeed a compliment getter.

Although Homme has been available for years, it is a relatively new fragrance for me and is one of my very favorites. Several reviewers have mentioned the strong iris smell. Perhaps because most of the irises I have planted over the years are hybridized bearded irises with no (or a very faint) aroma, I don’t smell iris specifically. What I do smell is wonderfully warm, slightly sweet, and soapy clean. It relaxes me immediately. I’ve been putting it on when I know I have a stressful day ahead and it has worked like a charm.
On me, it lasts hours and hours. I put it on before heading to work yesterday morning and can still smell traces of it almost 24 hours later. It’s not overly intrusive, though; while I catch little puffs of it here and there, I never feel like someone across the room is wrinkling their nose.
It doesn’t displace my two favorites (which have helped me through thick and thin for circa 20 years), but I could see that happening.

  48. :

I LOVE this on my boyfriend. To me it smells so good, and so different to most men’s fragrances out on the market. It has a fine, powdery quality, with floral undertones – as weird as it sounds, almost like a cosmetic product, or like a vintage lipstick. But on him it just works so well, and the fragrance wafts in the air, which I really enjoy catching little glimpses of as we walk and move around through the day. Dry down keeps the same facets of the initial blast, but mellows out a bit more.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

This one to me smells almost exactly like when you walk into a department store cosmetics section, or indeed a woman’s handbag. There is a strong lipstick note to this that’s warm and sweet.
Somehow this just works. It oozes sophistication and luxury and is a scent for the modern male. I can imagine this scent being worn by a male model (i.e. not totally masculine but gives off a vibrant and high quality vibe).
Great performance makes this a modern classic, 9.5/10.

  50. :

    3 out of 5

At first smell I completely disliked this fragrance, but decided to give it a second chance and wow… Now I’m completely in love with it!
Definitely this must be sampled on skin rather than paper strips.
The evolution of this fragrance is linear but not obvious at all and iris is constantly the main player: it opens with a slightly fresh vibe (mostly due to lavender and bergamot); after a while you literally go through an iris explosion with notes of cardamom and finally the scent becomes deeper as leather and vetiver come into play. The smell is simply amazing, never synthetic and always perfectly balanced.
Unluckily I get poor performance on my skin (at most 6 hours of longevity if lucky). Spraying on clothes makes it last easily for a whole day, however it smells better on skin. Sillage is average (can be smelt for about 2 hours or a bit more then turns to a skin scent).
In my opinion it is very versatile: I can easily see this worn in all seasons, as it never becomes cloying or too overpowering which is a plus considered how refined this fragrance is. Just be aware that in the hottest summer days spraying such a warm fragrance could possibly burden your nose.
A true masterpiece, I don’t ever want to stop smelling this scent!
Wear carefully: can lead to addiction…

  51. :

    4 out of 5

It’s a unique scent and smells a bit Prada-ish. Why? Because of the prominent “Iris” that most people would resemble with the red women’s lipstick smell.
In a way it gives some depth to the scent and makes it more elegant, but on the other hand in my opinion reduces the alpha masculinity.
Not something I can wear, but something I can appreciate.
Dior Homme never gave me a good performance on my skin tests (I do it every now and then for years), so maybe good to try the EDP version, but yeah from the notes I wouldn’t expect a beast performance. I think with this type of scent less is really more.

Let me start off this review by saying I have a 2015 bottle of DH. That being said, I adore this fragrance so damn much. Such a wonderful, and classy masculine men’s floral. Yes, some say this is unisex, but in my honest opinion, this is super duper masculine. I just wish it lasted longer. It lasts 5-6 hours with a decent hour projection. But, it does give you a wonderful scent bubble throughout its duration. You get an amazing leather, cocoa, and iris combo. A fragrance I think all fragrance enthusiast should smell. Whether they be a Man or Woman. We all need to smell this bad boy and appreciate it for how unique it is. This gets a mega love from me.

God damn is this amazing. So perfectly balanced in every respect, a true masterpiece.
As it opens up, its one of those fragrances where you can really smell the alcohol up top. This, combined with the iris root, give the opening an almost vegetal accord. But that settles down after 10 minutes. Then the iris becomes this soft interstitial note that lightly envelops everything else.
There’s just a dusting of cacao, which gives the fragrance a slight sweetness (though nowhere near as gourmand as DHI) and velvety appeal.
Then there is my favourite part of Dior Homme, the amber accord, which has this subtle bergamot twist that helps cut through what would otherwise be an entirely round, hollow perfume. This element of the cologne comes out more in warmer weather, and I will personally wear DH in all but the hottest of temperatures just to enjoy it.
DH also has a healthy dose of ISO E Super, giving it a nice woody backbone that mixes perfectly with everything else. I find ISO E often smells super synthetic and cheap in some fragrances, but not here.
Overall, no one note dominates the others. Everything works in beautiful harmony to create this soft, warm yet uncloying, transparent, elegant, and contemporarily masculine cologne.
Might just be my favourite in my collection.

    what to tell?
this is one of my favourite ever, maybe my favourite ever, i had the first version too from the beginning (the silver one)
when out it was something different on man perfumes, now is history of perfumes.
i love it so much, is a masterpiece, maybe now is a little bit tired and “dated” and for this i like to wear more prada l’homme, when i still consider dior homme superior but i am a little bored to wear in this period, maybe i need something different and prada l’homme fit my needs.
i love this over the intense version, i think is more wearable and less heavy.
    my love
    10/10

this one’s actually a pretty big hit. I don’t go for the sport version but the cologne is comparable to malin & goetz bergamot and 1/3 the price. Too me it comes off as a little woody and 1st time I wore it was with a club cotton polo and it felt like the ultimate combination. It’s a fresh, clean scent. Dior doesn’t disappoint on this one and I think the ratings reflect it

Everything about this frag smells very synthetic to my nose. It’s quite plasticky. The first blast smells almost exactly like a crayon and then it mellows into an opened lipstick tube inside an old makeup bag. This might make it sound like I didn’t like it. I really did. I just wasn’t overly impressed and couldn’t get over how plastic it smells. It is very unique for sure, but I do not think I will be buying a FB once my decant is gone. But for any ladies looking for a unisex scent with a lipstick vibe, I would definitely test this one out.
ETA: The drydown is really quite lovely.

There are all other men’s fragrances and then there is Dior Homme.
What hasn’t been said about this masterpiece?
It’s classy, understated, refined and unique. Dior Homme is also very versatile. I feel equally comfortable wearing this in a suit as I do in a nice sweater and jeans.
This is my counterpart signature scent to Narciso Rodriguez For Him. Dior Homme when I’m feeling classy and calm, Narciso Rodriguez for Him when I’m feeling rebellious and squirrely.
Perfect blending of powdery iris, sweet cacao, and fresh lavender. A masterpiece of modern perfumery.

    It’s simply amazing.
One of the best men’s fragrances I ever smelt.
    I wonder why I didn’t try/buy it sooner?
There is no mistaking,it smells like lipstick, but it’s so classy and likeable.
It’s very versatile and can be worn in every situation / setting.not harsh at all.

In my opinion, Dior Homme is one of those kind of fragrances that don’t leave people indifferent. You love it or you hate it.
In my case I really can’t stand with it. It smells just like women’s lipstick / make-up and I d
