I must admit I’m not a tuberosa fan, or sweet scents admirer, but This Dylis is definetely gorgeous and well balanced floral fragance! I do agree with previous reviewer about ” It fills a room” I conserve this edp splash of the picture in a drawer of a corridor and when I put some on me I can still feel this beatiful scent next day in that part of the house. I consider it joyful, classy and elegant at the same time. I must admit I didn’t know it before and it was a blind based on some reviews; I am very happy I did, It is lovely. Mini bottles are very gorgeous as well.

    I’ll keep this short….
The most beautiful perfect perfume ever created in all time in all universe.
    How I miss you Dilys.

There is a huge Peach juice playing all the way, from head to toes.
First time it was launched I purchased it and wore it to school, and I didn’t find it since then. Now I found it, I shed tears literally the moment I smelled it. 1992 was heavy in all aspects. School was difficult and I didn’t pass som exams, we moved to a new house in a new city. Now all that came in a fraction of a second, my emotions couldn’t bear this huge load. But to be honest, the smell is adorable in an indescribable way ;if it is sexy, then it is a Tantric kind of sex, if it is innocent, then it is a liquified Angel in a bottle. Proud to find 3 bottles of 30ml each and 1 bottle of 100ml

The little acorn mini bottle is precious. It is an 80´s floral era perfume, of olden golden perfume days. Use a small amount, very small and wait a little and then experience it. The drydown is highly elegant indeed. The opening is a little booming which is why putting on a tiny amount is best and then add a little more after a little time. To my nose, it has more swank and swing and depth in the dry down than many other florals of that day. It is a better orchestrated perfume than many other far more popular ones and if you like white florals but want them softened down, then do try a vintage of this.

From a decant sent to me by a kind member… I’d never smelled Dilys before, although I’ve admired both the notes and the unique bottle when reading about it. For me, Dilys is a beautiful Gardenia scent, made more interesting and lively with Plum and Peach, less syrupy than many of this genre with the Narcissus (a touch of powder) and wood notes.
This fragrance is strong and long-lasting. Quite romantic. Grown up and yet, an underlying innocence. And that bottle! So pretty.

Reminds me of Avon’s Pretty Peach from back in the 60’s!

A beautiful classic fragrance, smooth and classy. I get the peach and rose straight up. The other notes join in and Dilys projects a classic, soapy and sophisticated vintage lipstick vibe. Lovely scent, glad I found it by chance as I believe it’s been discontinued for years. The stopper bottle is stylish but is impractical for travel, so I’ll be keeping it safe on a shelf at home. My bottle, which I opened fresh in its original packaging, shows signs of evaporation and the juice is quite a deep golden colour, but the smell is still wonderful.

One of the most exceptional perfumes I have ever tried. The peach, rose and plum stand out most. The dry down is perfect with musk and sandalwood standing out most on my skin with touch of peach. I bet there is lot more to smell but this is such a well blended perfume that nothing actually sticks out but aids each other in perfect harmony. The top notes last well upto half an hour or so and perfume itself last for 6 hours. And all you need is drop of this vintage beauty to be surrounded in most natural smelling perfume heaven.

I adore this perfume. I have obtained this from The Aroma Store web site, among many other perfumes that are discontinued or too expensive for me to try. This is one of my absolute favorites! Dilys is well described by nakedcity in her post. I agree that is is somehow compact in it’s notes and airy in it’s over all feel. It is a sweet fragrance treasure. Heaven.

Really impressed with this one. No note stands out, but it feels like a soapy floral in cool weather and a juicy peach in summer. A very solid fragrance, no space in between notes yet it feels airy and somewhat cooling. Light but with presence, unpretentious and to the point.

Wonderful opening of plum and flowers. Very well blended. Reminds me of many fragrances from the same time.

I keep smelling the salt in the wind when at the seaside, combined with white flowers. It has a certain aura to it. It is a strong yet gentle, very feminine scent.

Many years ago when I still hadn´t become addicted 😉 I had a sample of Dilys. November 2010 I suddenly thought of Dilys again and tried to find it but I it was discontinued. After much searching I found a bottle on E-bay. The smell was nothing like I remember it, but almost repulsive. A large bouquet of flowers with an extreme intensity. I couldn´t wear it. It was just too strong. When I read Paleface´s lovely review here, I thought ‘What have I missed”? so I took out the bottle again and sprayed a moderate shower on my wrist. Later on I sat on the balcony in the sun. When I wiped the hair from my face, I felt a soft and beautiful floral-fruity scent. I can´t stop sniffing. This must mean that Dilys is best for my skin when it is heated.

Dilys is one of those distinctive and absolutely heavenly perfumes which would deserve much more attention than they get. But that is very understandable: Laura Ashley has never been big in marketing and the clientele is anyway limited – Ashley is not Givency or certainly not Chanel or Dior which everybody knows from granny to grandchild. But that fact doesn’t make Dilys any worse; it could proudly stand along with any other famous perfume from 80’s and 90’s.
Yes, this scent is from those loud years when everybody was competing who’s perfume has the looooongest and bigggggest sillage. When popping in a restroom one had to spray more all over, and in the evening again a lot more…
But Dilys is not overbearing. It is not like some suffocating and all available space stealing monsters, no. It is big, yes, it is long lasting, yes, and it DOES have a sillage, yes. If I had to compare it anything, I would say original Kenzo for women, also from those years (but if remembering correctly, from 1988). They are not similar, but they share the same aura, same woman-like strong but soft (what a paradox!) fruit-flower -composition with a tangy edge. The ingredients differ; I am only talking about the feeling they have on me.
To my nose Dilys is composed mainly of peach with some plum and a touch of white flowers – and, much later, musky woods. Now, that sounds simple, and if you look notes, those also seem simple. But the outcome is not. The composition is beautiful, and whoever did the job, should have a good, fat merit of this beauty. It is somehow solid and at the same time ethereal (again a paradox).
Nowadays this masterpiece is very difficult to get. If you find a real one, grab it – supposing you enjoy fruity-floral compositions. To me this is one of the bests. Exquisite.

Loveliest scent I have ever used. Unforgettable. Every time I wear it I draw much compliments. Retired from market …I suspect…due to poor publicity campaign as I never never saw it advertised.
I sitll buy it when I find it from discontinued supplies and at exhorbitant prices. Wish it was brought back again ..by Laura Ashley or other.

I can’t believe it still exists!
I found Dylis back in time in the only Laura Ashley’s shop in Milan, but since then no LP’s fragrance is sold anymore here.
Reflection of Love? I don’t know. Maybe only a certain type of love, very romantic and garden-y if it makes sense.
Think of an intense floral with lots of lily-of-the-valley and narcissus, warmed up by woods and little spice.
Very beautiful but somehow not wearable for me nowadays. I think it’s much in the line of present Gucci Flora, but with a less aggressive attitude and more complicated.
It didn’t draw compliments at that time. Young men called it boring.
It was more of a personal pleasure for me, very dreamlike and romantic but strong too. For me it’s a memory scent that immediately bring me back to an exact period of my life and it shocks to see how different I was!
It would be nice to own a few samples.
Perfect in small amounts for springtime.
