Bibi, you are probably partially anosmic to it, perhaps to the mandarin orange. You can’t smell the main note have the “glass wall” effect, like the perfume is smelling at a remove, but you can’t really feel it in its totality only the background. The main note (mandarin orange) must be too high a concentration for your nose to absorb but you may feel it in other perfumes with lesser amounts of it. See, many related heavy sillage and mandarin orange is the main note (conspicuous by absence in your description). When the overwhelming concentration of the mandarin disappears you began to smell the scent.Something like that happened to me with Euphoria (orchid) and Fancy Night (papyrus).

I had the opportunity to smell this today and no wonder it’s been discontinued. It barely smells like anything. The opening is a big blast of confused alcohol. You have to give it a minute or two to settle.
Then… No gardenia, no praline, very very watery cinnamon with a drop or two of orange flower juice, and freesia is most prominent. I was really hoping for something similar to Miss Dior Cherie L’Eau (Gardenia + Bitter Orange + Musk) but no.
It’s very muted, even though the freesia is trying to shriek and be cloying, it simply can’t. It’s like watching a TV, not on mute but with the volume turned all the way down, and there’s a woman on the screen screaming and jumping up and down and waving her arms frantically, but all you can see is her mouth open wide a very faint scream-like sound in the distance. if a whisper could scream, this would be it in perfume form.
It actually becomes a very nice skin-scent 4 hours later, a light cinnamony-orange peel-praline thing, with freesia relaxing in the background and still no gardenia. But the opening is so boring, it’s not worth the wait to get to this point (and you have to mash your nose against your skin to smell anything so…)
If you’re thinking of blind-buying this, don’t. You’ll be disappointed. The combination of notes has so much potential but this wasn’t executed well at all. (The bottle was in excellent condition and always kept in its box, and the bottle itself is opaque, so I don’t think this is an issue of the juice degrading through the years since 2009, but it’s not like you can go back in time and buy a fresh bottle so it really doesn’t matter.)
Anyway, I hope one day some other company tries something new with these notes. So much potential…
