Diamonds and Emeralds Elizabeth Taylor for women of Elizabeth Taylor

Share:

Description

This women’s fragrance was presented in 1993. Floral notes wrapped up in an oriental embrace bring a breeze of white rose and gardenia, sweetness of an apricot, fresh mandarin, juicy peach, sage, hyacinth, orange blossom and green accords at the top. The heart ticks in the rhythm of a floral sweet jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, carnation, seductive tuberose, rose, magnolia and Tyger lily. The base is soft, velvety and powdery with the notes of vanilla, amber, musk, patchouli and tonka beans.

As a non-fan of most white floral notes I still enjoy taking chances with them sometimes. (As in RL “Glamourous” that I found to be an amazingly beautiful and stand-out fragrance, even though lily and tuberose dominate in it.) I was curious about D&E, since I own and love its sister-scent, D&Rubies, but unfortunately D&E missed the mark for me. The strongest notes here are lily, tuberose and gardenia. I smell peach and apricot so very faintly in the background. While at the same time something minty or herbal trying to come through. D&E seems to have the same amber/vanilla-ish base as D&R, but the mish-mash of loud white florals and a hint of overly ripe fruit sprinkled with a bit medicinal herbs doesn’t do it for me. Has this stuffy quality to it. Plus, I think longevity is not as good as D&R. I don’t regret that I tried it, but it is going back to the store.

Do yourself a favor: try to score a more vintage version if you can. They ARE out there– (especially those “gift sets” that come with the body lotion– I think those are 10 years old already?). LOOK for the DARKER fluid and thy shall SCORE a POTENT punch of this sparkling white floral fruit elixir .
One of my favorite “cheapies” that starts my day with……………ZING!

This is a really beautiful fragrance. The gardenia in the scent is fantastic as it isn’t over powering like most gardenia scents. It has a lovely vanilla and powder dry down with the gardenia peaking through a bit. I can’t believe I let the ET diamond fragrance line slip by me back in the day when I worked in the industry. I remember when passion was introduced and I hated it because it reminded me of youth dew and I despised that fragrance so I just passed on all the other ET fragrances when they came out. Glad I gave them a try. I will be adding more to my collection.

I tried this years ago and didn’t like it at all, but now I know I must have gotten a bottle that turned…because I just tried it again and I like it a lot! I get a lot of tuberose, apricot and gardenia on my skin, along with a touch of greenery, and then vanilla and tonka develop nicely in the drydown. It’s a nice addition to Elizabeth Taylor’s fragrant jewels line – the other two are Diamonds & Sapphires (a strong, aquatic white floral with a fresh melon note) and Diamonds & Rubies (a creamy floriental with roses, iris, carnation, almonds and spices). This unique fruity floral that isn’t overly sweet is fresh enough for day wear yet sexy enough for date night. I’ve found that it wears wonderfully in warm, humid weather.
I have all of Elizabeth Taylor’s fragances except for the latest one – Love and White Diamonds. I love her for the beautiful, passionate woman she was, and I love her fragrances. Each one is unique and has its own story to tell. Not to mention that it’s thrilling to be able to pick up big 3.4 oz. bottles of these very high quality beauties for around $15 online or at discount department stores! If you appreciate beautifully crafted, elegantly timeless fragrances, you will love her line.

This is beautiful and soft. I love gardenia. I’ve been having a hard time finding one that last long and was super heavy. I wish this was stronger. It’s so light. I purchased her other gardenia fragrance as well and it’s light on me. I wish it lasted a little longer. Going to have to layer it. But this is a beautiful everyday fragrance to wear out or to work.

Just got the fragrant jewel collection parfum set. This scent was in the collection and I’m glad I was able to sample this before I blind bought an entire bottle. So far, I really enjoy the diamonds flankers. The OG White Diamonds is always a hit and is nostalgic for me (grandmother used to wear it), and the other flankers, Diamonds and Rubbies, Diamonds and Saphirores, White Diamonds Luster, and Sparkling White Diamonds all offer something different that I love. But Diamonds and Emeralds missed the mark with me and I’m actually disappointed. I really wanted to like this one but it’s a bit too sweet and fruity. At least the parfum version is anyway, but I’m not even going to bother with the toilette. It also gives me the feeling that if I had more than a dab on my wrist, I’d feel ill. It’s very potent and SUPER sweet on me. I think the note that’s making me feel ill is the gardenia. It doesn’t sit well with me and I can tell when it’s in any fragrance because I react the same way every time. I can appreciate the scent for what it is, but just isn’t my cup of tea. Im sure this smells lovely on others and I hope people continue to keep Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy alive by purchasing all of her fragrances.

the tonka and amber are prominent with the florals and fruit; very creamy and not a big white floral like the original; no headaches or sneezing here; tuberose, magnolia, gardenia, jasmine and water lilly play second fiddle to the tonka, amber and pit fruits, soft, gentle and closer; does not fill a room

Diamonds & Emeralds EDT is the only one from the fragrant jewels collection that surpasses its respective parfum. It’s a creamy, elegant white floral with delicious stone fruits and warm flavourings such as amber and vanilla to hold it up. This may actually be one of my very favourite fragrances of all time. It’s a special occasion scent when you don’t want to wear your more expensive or rare fragrances, even though this smells every bit as good as some of them. Over spraying or over using this jewel can be quite nauseating as it lasts ages and projects quite well, too. I recieved a 100mL EDT in the mail this morning and sprayed a bit over my vintage parfum and this has certainly taken over. I expected a mess but got a well constructed, heavy scent that is perfectly acceptable to use in the cooler weather.
The things that I can’t detect too much of are: rose, hyacinth, patchouli, thyme, lily and magnolia.
The things I detect if I put my mind to it: carnation, cinnamon, sandalwood and mandarin orange.
The things I detect easily: jasmine, bergamot, tuberose, lily of the valley, gardenia, apricot and peach.
The longevity of this depends on several things. As I don’t own the body lotion or body wash, I can only judge it based on wearing it with the parfum. It seems to last a long time, so far around 11 hours. Projects strongly for 6 hours.

    An elegant fruity floral.
I admit that i was expecting a variation of White Diamonds, just more fruity.
But Diamonds and Emeralds is soft and very sweet, is also modern and classy at the same time, it has no age.
It’s an easy everyday scent if you like sweet scents, is so well blended that i think surpass way more expensive fragrances.
From my sample i don’t get any strong single note, just a feminine soft mix. I suspect that the dab sample may have lost some of the floral notes.
The fruityness is done well, not crazy synthetic like the majority of celebrity scent

This is such a sneak attack! Emeralds is nothing like White Diamonds!
The fragrance opens just as chaotic as White Diamonds does… heavy, knock-out white florals. Just as I was starting to get disappointed, all of a sudden, a juicy, succulent fruit note rose through the roaring white florals. It was then and there that I resprayed Emeralds again. I absolutely love this thing! And it’s so cheap! I got 50ml for $8!
This is such a nice, modern fragrance when you consider what year it was released. This is the perfect segue for someone trying to move on from fruity scents into floral scents. To accurately sum up Diamonds & Emeralds, it’s a bright combo of white florals and peach/apricot fruit. If you like Fracas or Madonna Truth or Dare, you might like this. It’s sweeter and fruitier where as the other two are more creamier.
This sounds cliche, but I will never be without a bottle of this. I’ve already gone through 2/3 of my bottle. It’s just such a fresh, nice fragrance.
This was brought to my attention thanks to Miguel Matos for the “Shopping Challenge: Fruity Fragrances Under $25/€25.” Mr. Matos has very refined tastes, I knew I could trust his recommendation.

Oriental Floral? No way. Floral fruity. Nothing to do with the Original “White Diamonds” at all. It is really fruity and sweet, and might be liked by the younger generation who are into the modern celeb frags.

I was shocked when I first smelled this.
I still think there might be something wrong with the bottle I got. My mother likes White Diamonds, sparkling WD, Rubies, Sapphires… and I think all of those are very nice fragrances for the price. I also have Violet Eyes, which is a nice, unoffensive, peppery floral. WD EDT is very warm, cozy, feminine… very nice fully enveloping scent, and D & Sapphires is probably my favorite after that.
    However…
With Diamonds and Emeralds I get apricots (which are the stinky feet of fruit, to me). I get the smell of wood… nondescript wood like the type you’d find in a dirty pile at a lumber store, and 90s nail polish that claims to smell like some kind of fruit. I really tried to warm up to this, mostly because I cannot believe how much I cannot accept this as perfume. I have worn it to bed attempting to “understand it” because I would not dare leave the house with this on. It’s not the type of scent that becomes headache inducing, and I must say that for such a strange smell, when the creaminess does kick in I feel a slight strange comfort. It’s not a yummy, buttery or vanilla creaminess. It’s more like a “I have found some old ointment in my grandmothers closet, slathered myself in it to feel better” kind of creaminess. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t see how this qualifies as perfume despite the few things that make it “interesting” and I have also noticed being comforted by smells like gasoline, rubber tires, and very ripe cow fields in early spring. . . so that might explain some things.
I keep this bottle of . . . “perfume”, and do keep smelling it because I’m entertained by how it is the strangest smelling perfume I have ever smelled. I just don’t get it, and am marveled by some of the reviews here, as if most are just casually reviewing this like no one else notices anything strange. I certainly wouldn’t call it stuffy. There’s something clean and fresh about it, much like a hot fresh bucket of mop water. Who had the idea to mix fruit and wood, not sure… but I get NO florals. Where are these florals? I keep trying to smell it a different way, like looking at a hideous painting from another angle. It’s not working.
I’m not disappointed I bought it. It was extremely cheap, and has become somewhat of an intriguing mystery to me. It DOES smell better than my cat’s litter box, so it does make somewhat of a fresh room spray. . . I just can’t wear this. I’ve certainly smelled worse things but calling this perfume???… mmmyeahhhh I dunno about that.
To sum it up, this is an astonishingly bizarre perfume. Every time I smell it I’m like “Really?. . . Seriously?”. I’m almost obsessed with how bizarre and unwearable it is because I wouldn’t give it to my mother who, for some reason, still thinks she wants a bottle for her collection despite having said a few choice words about it herself. I think we both agree it is interesting and have found some entertaining factor in it.

This has overtaken Diamonds & Rubies in my affections and I felt compelled today to add my review.
Diamonds and Emeralds is such a stand-out, well blended, genuinely beautiful fragrance.
A bold and heady floral with dominant gardenia and hyacinth for the first hour or so of wear, mellowing only slightly after several hours and allowing a shy rose and a peep of carnation to creep in.
For me, though, fruit is the real star of this show. A luscious, just-ripe peach on first blast, with an intense sweetness followed by a kick of juicy tartness. This stage is so bright its dazzling, like opening the curtains to glorious sunshine – I adore Diamonds and Emeralds just for this bit!
The dry down is a dream, too. A cosy, creamy apricot, well-behaved tuberose and the merest hint of vanilla. Sits close to the skin and lasts for hours.
It is just beautiful. A fruity floral that can claim pure class and elegance. Sophia Grojsman’s name is all over this. It has to be.

This is it!!! My grandmothers signature. I was missing my grandmother so much a few weeks ago and remembered her having one of the ET diamonds perfumes on her dresser. I purchased all of the diamonds line on sale online as blind buys as I just had to find it. This is just lovely. A bouquet of beautiful flowers accompanied by Juicy fruity, comforting goodness. I love it. I’m wearing it at work now and cannot stop smelling my wrist.

    freash and aquatic
    this one is very beautiful
    heavy white flowers
but not so dizzy like original white diamonds
and the fruity notes just add some freshness
    and make the scent aquatic
it resembles me of So de la Renta
    it doesn’t smell like that
    but reminds me of that
    quite long-lasting actually

I just picked this up today at TJ Maxx for $12.99 for a 3.3oz. I have been wearing Avon Rare Gold for about 4 years, and it is one of my favorite fragrances. This must have been Avon’s inspiration, as I just checked the notes and they are very similar, with the ET having extra notes in the base and top. I plan on giving it my first wear tomorrow and updating the review, but I have a feeling I may not need to purchase another bottle of Rare Gold in the future as it should take some time to get through a whole 3.3oz. So if you see this anywhere for a reasonable price and you like Rare Gold feel free to blind buy!

Reading reviews I had the impression this is a fragrance with very pronounced tuberose note, and being not that big fan of tuberose, I was a bit afraid to try it. Never the less, as I mentioned in my other review, I found few ET fragrances on sale in my local perfumery, so I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, this appeared to be a very velvety, warm and beautiful blend which doesn’t have a pronounced note, it is more a combination of white flowers and peach on a gentle musky base, which is barely detectable. It reminds me very much of Catalyst pure perfume, which I own as well. Only D&E smells more modern. I am sure that if this fragrance comes in a new bottle, and under the name of, say, Marc Jacobs or Lancome, no one will tell it smells outdated. It is rich, but soft. It is big, but gentle. It is like a soft scarf, wrapping you in comfort and warmth. I find it very inoffensive, because there is nothing harsh in it. After some time it gets weaker but doesn’t loose it’s richness.
After wearing D&E for a second day, I realised it reminds me a lot of another fragrance as well – Organza EDP. The old Organza. They both have gardenia, tuberose and jasmine and this makes them quite similar in the dry down.

What a difference the weather makes when wearing this perfume. I had first originally opened up my bottle of this floral bouquet during the last days of spring when the weather was getting warmer. My initial reaction was that it was too intense and smelt quiet sour for it to be bearable during warmer climate.
I had given it another chance and was wearing it every once in a while, however, my reaction was still the same. It was a very concentrated floral that was swinging between honeyed sweetness and hyacinth sourness. I accepted the smell as it was because I liked how powerful it was and could be smelt meters away and was quite long lasting but it still was not something I would reach out for when I wanted to smell special. As the weather is getting cooler now with autumn announcing its arrival, I decided to wear this fragrance again and give it another, maybe 50th chance, and what a surprise!
I was surprised this morning because the florals took a different twist this time and they smelt much much better without the sourness creeping in and without being overtly honeyed or having the constant concentration of the yellow floral aspect. It is still very floral and quite strong but it has got a tad mellower and is much easier on the nose, displaying its romantic side. I have started to appreciate this scent since it has gotten cooler and I will wear this more often now after the transformation it has gone through during colder temperatures. The most notable notes to my nose are the hyacinth, tuberose, apricot, peach and nectarine as they dominate the smell from start to end but remember that the smell is long lasting.
My recommendation is to wear this perfume during fall and winter so it does not cause discomfort to you and those around you but remember you have to be a fan of strong powerful florals.

Review for the vintage pure parfum:
As I actively despise the eau de toilette, the parfum provided a more full and less synthetic look into the jewels and precious stones of Ms. Taylor.
I’ve begun to realise that I absolutely adore tuberose scents by going through some of my favourites and discovering that almost all of them star the beautiful, creamy white flower.
Diamonds & Emeralds is not, as the title suggests, a green floral but instead fruity, creamy delicious white & yellow floral. This appears to also have melon, although its not listed in the notes. Also, lily of the valley is much more noticeable in the parfum than the EDT. The edt is a mess, the parfum is well constructed and seems to hit each note perfectly as they come. One could not even place the modern edt on top of the vintage parfum, it would destroy it. This has the quality of a natural perfume, or even a top vintage designer scent. I only have the 3.7mL but that might be all I really need because it lasts eons. Truly a masterpiece.

From all the great flowers and notes I thought this would be lovely but was I ever wrong. I don’t like it. I like most of her perfumes but not this one. Nothing floral or seductive about it – maybe the first 5 minutes was nice. Then it turned into something unfresh. I couldn’t stand this sharp note lingering. So glad I was able to return it

Diamonds and Emeralds is a very nice offering from Elizabeth Taylor. It was sweeter than I expected it to be, although not a candied sweetness. Certainly rich in apricot (which I smell predominately) followed by narcotic white flowers. All the adjectives along the lines of rich, creamy, full, fit this fragrance.
As per usual with Elizabeth Taylor’s offerings, you get much more than the price you paid.
This is somewhere mid-way between Tresor and Chloe Narcisse, both of which I adore, without quite smelling like either one of them. I have not smelled Fracas or ToD or Kim Kardashian, so I cannot give a review based around any of those fragrances.
This would be a safe blind buy if you already know the notes and combos you like and you like rich, heady perfumes. If you prefer lighter perfumes, I would recommend testing first, although as has been mentioned, this is inexpensive enough that an unsuccessful blind buy would not be wallet breaking.

Smells like a cross between Versace Blonde & Kim Kardashian both fragrances I really love and wear. So for me this was an easy transition. I was initially hesitant to wear it because let’s face it for us Millennials the Elizabeth Taylor brand is largely considered to be ‘old lady’ perfume. I’m not one to put anyone or anything in a label or box. So I gave it a shot. This is beautiful. A fresh summer time green floral slash white floral. It’s like catching whiffs of gardenia and jasmine from bushes and trees/groves in the hot summer sun by a pool. The intoxicating and unusual mixture of chlorine from a pool and the nearby gardenia is a familiar scent to me coming from both Southern California and Southern Florida.
Opens with a fruity blend of mandarin oranges peaches and apricots. Sweet and fruity, tangy, tasty, like a concentrated fruit juice. This kind of fruit top notes are not found in most perfumes and colognes today. It’s definitely a signature top note of 90’s frags. Smells like some of the fruity perfumes my mother used to wear in the 90’s including Giorgio Beverly Hills but in no way does this resemble Giorgio and it’s so much better. A delicious peach apricot takes over the scent before it embraces the multiple florals in the heart. Orange blossom, rose, lily of the valley, and the super charged white florals with a buttery creamy center. These white flowers are the classic ones of gardenia tuberose and jasmine. Each of them have a similar scent but it’s mainly a giant tuberose. Same kind of gardenia and tuberose that you find in Kim Kardashian Madonna Truth or Dare Paris Hilton Tease and Michael Kors Very Hollywood. But like I mentioned above it’s mostly like Versace Blonde.
When the frag is dry it’s green with vetiver patchouli and herbal nuances. Smells dry warm and musky too, with vanilla and tonka, amber and a balsamic note. This part is like sun tan lotion or body cream. It’s good on the skin. For me amber based dry notes are the best on my skin. Delicious and warm, feminine and glamorous. Don’t know if Liz Taylor wore this but if she did it would have smelled amazing on her. It has her sex appeal and beauty written all over the notes. Reminds me of my mom but I hardly see her anymore so for me this is one way to feel like I’m as ‘grown up’ as her without being around her so she won’t notice I’m wearing perfumes she’d wear lol A let’s impress the hell out of everyone type of perfume. Diamonds & Emeralds. Indeed matches up with emerald earrings and rings and diamond necklace.
I can see how they call it mature but for me it’s just class in a bottle. I can wear this to a summer evening party all dressed up in a nice dress (cocktail dress vintage dress or gown). In the 90s this would have made one hell of a prom night perfume. It’s also coming off as tropical but more like Florida or Hawaii. Smells of a sexy and very confident woman in a floral print dress. Has something of Femme Rochas 1940s women vibe. Like a pretty young girl with a jasmine in her hair Victory Rolls dancing to Andrews Sisters Rum and Coca Cola or Glenn Miller big band music with a GI after Pearl Harbor and before the boys had to go off to war. A beautiful absolutely gorgeous summer fruity floral. Sillage and longevity – the best. Lasts forever and can be detected by people around you and they will like it!

So I blind bought this just now, right after blind buying Diamonds and Rubies and that went well! I have heard many of you say that Diamonds and Emeralds is one of the favorites, so I do trust my fellow perfume lovers!
Diamonds and Emeralds is animalic, with a darker fruit resonance and the signature Amber I smell in all of these lovely distinctive fragrances. I feel like I got a shot of Cola candy in the first blast!
But this is refined and I quite love it.
    God Bless!

    Elizabeth Taylor’s Fragrant Jewels: Emeralds
This is not as popular as Diamonds & Rubies or White Diamonds but after trying and enjoying Diamonds & Sapphires I became very attracted to these scented jewels. Emeralds is a gorgeous fruity floral for summer time day wear. It has something of a Chloe Narcisse air, so if you like sweet apricot-peach florals with vanilla and amber this will enchant you. I am so happy with this purchase. At an affordable price, 10 to 15 bucks, you are not getting a cheap perfume at all. It’s luxurious and beautifully crafted, a fragrance as only Elizabeth Taylor can do. The sweet feminine body of this perfume is both mature and youthful. I think females of any age can pull it off. It is a floral so it’s best appreciated by lovers of floral fragrances.
The first spritz is a delectable dish of fruit a la Femme Rochas and Chloe Narcisse. The apricot juice mingles with peach, ripe and sweet, and a zesty mandarin orange comes with it. There’s a lot of fruit here because it’s further aided by heady orange blossom. It smells like an orangerie and a bowl of fruit. It reminded me of those still life paintings from Dutch masters with bowls of fruit next to flowers. The elegant blend of florals next to the fruit is so exquisite. Of the flowers I get several of the white ones: the jasmine, tuberose, lily, magnolia and carnation (a white carnation). The rose is white as well. There is hyacinth and gardenia. The gardenia was said to be Elizabeth Taylor’s favorite flower and it’s not surprising to see it in the note list. This is a heady gardenia and tuberose with a creamy buttery deliciousness. I wish this came with a hand cream or body lotion and if it does I’m going to have to keep looking for it. This is so beautiful. The white flowers are soapy but smooth and oily in a good way. I’m so impressed with this perfume. It has been compared to more recent celebrity fragrances like Kim Kardashian and Madonna Truth or Dare which for the price and the name is very popular among older women who love the white floral notes in it. If you love white floral perfumes as in Kim Kardashian and Madonna Truth or Dare you will easily love this perfume which came before either of them. It does have more of a 1990’s fruity floral air again similar to Chloe Narcisse which is a gorgeous floral Oriental.
The flowers are giving me pleasure every time I wear it. The dry down, however, is pretty typical Elizabeth Taylor base notes of amber an vanilla. I detect very little patchouli but I get a bit of musk. This is a very nice dry down with only woods missing. The vanilla comes through very beautifully. The vanilla in this scent is more pronounced than any other Elizabeth Taylor perfume for women. So if you like vanilla based fragrances check this out. I have to say that this perfume is suitable for wearing in spring and summer. The fruitiness is too much for winter or autumn. It’s designed for beach wear and matches up with sundresses and pretty hats, very feminine and lady like, something to wear to afternoon teas or lunch with girlfriends. Mature? Sure but nonetheless beautiful. This is perfect for Church on balmy days, picnics, and parties. This doesn’t have the boozy tropical air of Black Pearls which I like but can still be worn at parties in the spring. Sunny, sweet, optimistic, floral, and vanilla scented a charmer of a perfume.
Thank you Liz Taylor for everything

Lately I decided to get acquainted with some Elizabeth Taylor perfumes as long as they are still available. Diamonds and Emeralds was one of my blind purchases following long and careful reading and researching.
This scent reminds me to Truth or Dare, another celebrity scent big on tuberose and gardenia. But while ToD moves milky and creamy, here the peach and apricot is always present and adds a juicy quality. After spraying, the fruits form an almost metallic note which soon smooths out. This is a fresh fruit and floral mix, easygoing and smells like spring to me. I will love spraying it during springtime, into summer.
When I began reading about fragrances I was shocked to realize that the aggressive, sharp sweet juices I smelled so often belonged to the fruity floral category, and are widely considered fresh, uplifting and summery. In which universe, I kept thinking. And I thought that if these kind of scents are what mixing flowers and fruits can produce, I would do much better, despite having zero fragrant education. Now I see that Sophia Grojsman also created something much better than how fruity florals usually smell. It is a little bit sharp, but only to make it zesty, and it doesn’t have that aggressive, unbalanced sweetness. I wish ET perfumes stayed with us longer.

This is a difficult one for me to write about – when I first bought it I really loved the white florals and Tonka combination and the peach-like background, very elegant aura about it.
Unfortunately the more often I wore it the less I liked it and now I just can’t cope with the initial thick, sweet floral burst at all, it makes me feel quite nauseous and catches at the back of my throat even in the smallest of sprays.
I would say that this is not a safe blind buy, and do sample it several times before you do buy; although it is usually so cheap that it’s not that big an investment if it does turn out to be something you don’t like in the end

I absolutely fell in love with this at first sniff.Gorgeous and unique. But I am one of those unlucky ones who has a bit of a problem with scents sticking around on me for some reason. Some have said D&E doesn’t last as long as they’d like. I have found a solution I’d like to share that might work for you as it has for me. I spritz White Diamonds on first, not too much, you want to be able to have the D&E stand out of course. Let the White Diamonds settle for about 15 minutes or so. Then spritz the D&E on top of where you sprayed the White Diamonds. Spray what you’d usually use. Or a bit more. Or if you are like me, a lot!
I have found that doing this makes the D&E last quite a bit actually much longer than it would by itself. Really happy I tried this because I love D&E so much! I feel like Queen for a Day when I wear it!

Lots & lots of gardenia & hyacinth, with some sweet & smooth tuberose to make it less tart.
Lashings of tonka & vanilla – together translating as coconut to my nose, adding a slightly tropical edge to the flowers.
A base of jammy rose & musky apricot.
Strong & longlasting. Similar in style to Red Door & the likes. Not really my type of floral, but nice nonetheless.

D&E greets you with a heavy dose of big gardenia and tuberose embedded in all other ingredients. It exudes a sweet and thick dewyness similar to what I experience with Flora Bella by Lalique. Whereas FB comes hither softer and lighter, D&E literally jumps unapollogetically into your personal sphere without restraint. Remembering having been taught some good manners it settles down a little bit but keeps pushing the boundaries. You have to like heavy florals to like this one. I own Vanderbilt btw and would not compare these two at all. D&E is all sweet, white flowers, Vanderbilt is woodsy, oriental. I think it could be the tuberose combined with aldehydes in Vanderbilt that can conjure up a similarity in your mind but sniffing them next to each other will quickly show the difference.

with the name emeralds and diamonds, I guess I expected a green fragrance… not at all. This is very nice, and it reminds me very much of Gloria Vanderbilt… The best seller with the swan on the bottle. This is my first ET fragrance and I am quite happy with the blind buy.

I almost put this in my read-to-swap/giveaway pile.
I then decided to re-think that decision because the ET bottles are so chic. They really have nice old school heft to them.
This is Estee Lauder Spellbound lite for the spring and summer. I love it. It opens with a full on lotus in the mud vegetal scent that dies down into the fullness of gardenia, rose, peaches, apricot, and slight hints of tuberose.
It’s soft, sweet, and very grown up candy. Very luscious for spring. I may have to pick up a back up bottle simply because it’s cheap as chips, yet smells quite expensive and these perfume companies love to reformulate things.

Diamonds and Emeralds begins as a creamy soup of a myriad of flowers. If you’re not into a prominence of florals. walk away from this perfume. If you are, step into a heavenly delight. This is a fragrance that needs to be either sprayed lightly on your wrists, sprayed in the air and walked through or sprayed on a cotton ball and dabbed.
To me this proves that you don’t have to spend a fortune to smell terrific. There is something very ladylike about it. It reminds me afternoon high tea. But do
