    Female here.
This has a very nice sillage.
I walked in the house and smelled it… not old, not young, just sniff sniff mmmm.
I asked who’s sprayed that smell… show me the bottle… this is what was brought out.
Fresh, aromatic -smooth, it could be slightly in the range of Gucci guilty for men, but that’s just a feel rather than a note comparison.
It’s not heavy or screechy, it doesn’t bite your nose.
However, I smelled the bottle nozzle and I don’t get the same fragrance that is lingering in the air.
I think this is ageless, I gorgeous stud could wear it, as could a middle aged dad, or a silver fox, a businessman, or just someone wanting to smell nice. Not overtly sexy, but nice clean, fresh, not of a particular note.
    Thumbs up.

Alberto Morillas strikes yet again what am excellent perfumer and legend!I love everything he does!
This truly is for mature men I’d say over 40 really, but not set in stone.
It’s an aquatic type scent that is pretty linear and doesn’t change all that much.
First spray I get some bergamot and mandarin for sure, but these notes don’t last as long as I’d hoped. However it does dry down to a warm smooth light wood base with still somewhat of a slight aquatic vibe.
Very nice only the longevity is only about 4-5 hours so reapply or carry a decent and you’ll be happy!Already got compliments!

WELL BALANCED, PUTS YOU IN A GOOD MOOD, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT ON THE NOTES PYRAMID I USED TO PERCEIVE A NICE VANILLA NOTE AT THE BOTTOM.

This was a blind buy off the back of the fact that I’m a huge fan of Baldessarini Ambre, and it was dirt cheap. My expectations were high and I guess you can say I’m disappointed.
This is an awesome scent, the notes work so well together. Very pleasing to the nose.
That’s the first 30 minutes and then it dies a quick death on me. Regulated to a skin scent, and a faint one at that.
Not sure if I have a dud or not, but based on the bottle I have, it’s a fail for me,
    Gutted.

A really good all round scent. Aromatic, woody, sweet and spicy. A little along the lines of Elements Aqua. Longevity and silage moderate. A versatile fragrance which is likable.

Like many already said this is a very classy woody spicy fragrance with aquatic elements which make it a warm-fresh fragrance. Morillas did a real good job here by making a perfect blend of (warm) pepper, woods and bergamot/mandarin on an ambery cinnamon base with hints of patchouli and vetiver.
It all smells luxuruous, inoffensive, not too loud with (unfortunately) just less than average longevity of 4-5 hrs. Rating: 8/10

The first time I used Del Mar, I was in my twenties. It quickly became my go to cologne. I would receive compliments everyday. Older women, younger women, they loved it.
Fast forward now to my thirties.
I had stopped buying cologne for a while, now I’m in the process of rebuilding my collection. I came across a sale on Del Mar and purchased it online.
It smells absolutely nothing like I remember. It’s still decent, but it seemed like they toned down the spiciness I remember. It has the super generic cologne scent.
I’m still debating on keeping it or giving it to my son.

For me Del Mar is just ok. Initially when you spray it on it doesn’t seem to much- but after about 45 minutes it gains strength. When I first sprayed it I right away got a sweet orange, tart smell. After about 1 hour it gains strength to a pepper, cardamom smell with slight citrus.
I have found it lasts for about 3- 4 hours and then gets close the skin, the peppery smell is still there at that time but fades slightly.
This frag should be best worn in the summer nights and spring days due to the pepper scent. The pepper scent is not a spicy pepper, it is more of a warm pepper.
I purchased this frag on a whim because it was on clearance. Not a total waste of money since I got it for $24 but a good choice for cool, crisp, days/ nights.
**Not good enough for a date- in my opinion**

Del Mar has a certain class to it. Nice and refrained but certainly noticeable.
Would be a great choice for spring and milder summer days.
A bit fruity and sweet for me but in saying that I’ve got quite a few compliments from ladies in the office so I enjoy wearing it to work.
Del Mar, (to me anyway,) is quite close to a more recent release from Davidoff called “Cool Water Night Dive” which also has that fruity sweet vibe.
    Nice 🙂

This, Kenneth Cole Signature, Issey Miyake and 360 Red used to be in rotation years ago. Del Mar has some spiciness and sweetness but maintains being a Spring/Summer scent just by a thread but it’s equally good in colder temps as well. The sweet dry down of amber and cinnamon is sure to get compliments as I use to get several. What reminds you that it’s a summer scent is the spotty performance at around 3-5 hours but above average projection for most of the time it’s on. Great for all ages and priced great if you want something different from the norm.

A great fragrance for classy men to wear spring and summer time. Very modern, quite unique and feel upper class every time you wear. Spices and aquatic features are perfectly combined. Natural notes and aromas gives you fresh feeling throughout the day.

This is a typical aquatic for me, opening with lovely refreshing notes of mandarin and sea breeze, the cleanness of cardamom and vetiver and the hint of spice and woods from cedar and pepper.
This is a good fragrance which settles very nicely…it’s not great…but it’s not to be dismissed off hand either. The performance is average but I will forgive it. It’s as worth a look as any other fresh scent in the designer game. Shop around and you might find yourself a bargain.

It’s the type of scent that offends noone but pleases everyone (a true Morillas creation). It smells godly fresh at the opening with a pinch of maturity.
Smell is a 9.5/10 for me, I would never want to change it, except for making it a little bit longer lasting of course. It supposed to be exotic, marine, enticing and mature and it hits all the marks.
Evokes feelings of holidays and travels. Definitely marine and summery. Presentation for this one is a 9/10.
This is a stoic frag suitable for everything, office, holidays, funerals or parties. For clubbing you might want something stronger and more fun, but this works for everything. So versatility 9/10.
Longevity, I think it does okay for a fresh summer scent. But it keeps me from having it as a signature scent. 5/10.
Sillage. Hard to say, I feel it doesn’t project a lot after the first hour but I can at least smell it. 5/10.
Overall an 8.5/10 from me. Adding in the nostalgia – I bought it when it came out and love it, despite me beingyoung and this being mature.

A perfectly unisex, energetic aquatic with a little “something extra”, the tangy bite of pepper and cedar resin lingering just below the beautiful watery notes.
The blue color of the juice suggests a cool ocean breeze under a bright summer sky and what you see is definitely what you get when you lift the hefty little bottle and remove the heavy silver cap with its nautical rope design. “Of the Sea”, indeed, but then Alberto Morillas has yet to let me down. He can take the simplest of notes and work his alchemical genius to create something a bit different and always interesting.
Lasts just 4-5 hours but will get you noticed before it fades to a lightly musky skin scent. Very, very nice. (A big thank you to the lovely member who sent the bottle my way! It’s coming with me for a beach vacation later this month.)

This is a scent that I didn’t like upon first couple of wearings; generic, synthetic, boring and waste of my time would’ve been the words I’d have used then to describe Del Mar. But over time this has grown on me and I not only find it to be pleasant but also something very mature, sophisticated and unique. There is nothing synthetic about this composition at all; the vetiver, amber and pepper combination works really well together and sets this apart from most designer fragrances today.
In fact, I had blindly purchased a bottle of this because I really enjoyed Del Mar Seychelles and as a fan of Baldessarini’s fragrances, I wanted to explore more from the Del Mar line-up of Baldessarini. I regretted my decision of buying this before but now I am very happy to have it in my collection.
I have a lot of respect for the house of Baldessarini; the original Hugo Boss Baldessarini, Strictly Private and Ambre are some of my favorite scents of all time. And, you never know, this underrated beauty just might creep up to join their ranks in the future.
    7/10!

Fantastic combination of refreshing and seductive at the same time : aquatic notes + mandarin ones are absolutely stunning _ suitable for day ( and not only lol ) , I am sure my man would like to have one , so I am going to present him with the aroma on the occasion of his bis birthday in January … Mmm , simpy splendid !

These Baldessarinis were available at discount stores in masses around 2008. That is how I got this one, Amber and the original (my favorite). And they are always on my collection since then.
This is not a pure aquatic sent. It starts aquatic, yes, but soon moves into the sweet ambery spicy type, almost oriental, but not completely. Remains a bit fresh.
Long lasting on me, but I have oily skin, so that may be helping. Lots of compliments from this one!!!!.

This is very under rated in my opinion. the simplest way to describe Del Mar is a cross between Azzaro Chrome and Lanvin’s Oxygene. starts off with a sweet, fruity, mandarin and pepper with a bit of cinnamon as well. I can smell the woods and cardamom in the heart notes which are nicely blended. The dry down is a soft amber with some mild vetiver. basically, imagine Chrome without the metallic note and you are good to go. Like Ferrari Uomo and Oxygene, this is another under rated Morillas’ goodie. Del mar is a good, uncomplicated fruity aquatic that I can see myself wearing to the beach or just loafing about in shorts and flip flops. good projection and longevity on me as well so it’s just added itself to my spring summer rotation. 7/10. I like it.
Edit- The more I wear it, the more I love Del Mar. I am bumping my score up to 8/10. The vetiver and cardamom give this a very different feel than most other aquatics. I am going to be wearing this all summer and loving it.

Back in 2007 this cologne got me the highest number of compliments of anything I’d worn before. The girls at work and college absolutely loved it. I was actually getting mob hugged daily so they could get their fix. A taxi driver once even asked me what I was wearing so he could go out and buy a bottle, saying “don’t think I’m wierd or something, but you smell great!” Most surprising and unexpected compliment on a scent I ever had. I would HIGHLY recomend this cologne.
Very masculine with nice aquatic peppery notes. Refreshing, relaxing scent to be worn with any from a suit and tie to jeans and t-shirt at a Michelin Star restaurant, at office or out at the club. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t last as long as I’d like, but for a night or afternoon it will get the job done.
And whoever says this is for ‘older’ men is confused. It is a mature sccent, definitely, but you don’t need to be pushing 50 to pull it off. Just be a man, this isn’t for boys.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

Del Mar made a heavy beautiful bottle with a cap that has some woven details, perhaps to signify tied ropes on a boat. The juice unfortunately is bland, smells more like a watered down masala chai with poor sillage and longevity than a fresh aquatic. The pepper is out of place and feels like it’s trying too hard to hit all the pleasant notes, but fails miserably. The dry down is a spicy powdery mixture; separating the men from the boys, I think not!

  23. :

I bought this for my husband when I found it on clearance. I like it a LOT!!! I know this is advertised as a more mature fragrance and my husband who is only 31 got told he smelt like ‘old man’ by a male workmate, but as a woman and his wife I think it’s really appealing and sexy and that’s all that matters! ;)I couldn’t begin to describe the fragrance except to say I love when my husband wears it, and it seems to have decent sillage and lasting power! I think it’s a good all-rounder fragrance and would be suitable for men of any age, for any occasion and time of the year 🙂

It’s like you’ve been served Cinnamon Sponge Cake and a cup of Earl Grey Tea with a slice of orange. Mmm.
    My Backstory:
I’ve used this fragrance since it’s launch in 2005. I was about to purchase the original Baldessarini, that I had sampled and liked earlier, with it’s more up-to-date typical man smell. Anyway, at the perfume store I was about to grab Baldessarini, when the new Del Mar flashed by the side of it. Really liked the bottle and name, and I was never prepared to get completely knocked down into my socks! But…some days it can put me off when I only get an overpowering peppery brandy note, that makes me almost vomit. It’s like my brain goes: “Oh god, not Del Mar AGAIN” and then some neurotransmitters agree to go on strike… But most likely it’s the synthetic ingredients that causes the glitch…..
For me it’s not at all the “typical generic aquatic”. Though Mr. Morillas is behind many popular acquatics. AdG for one. How does that man do it? Almost everytime I enjoy a fragrance I try, Morillas has his…nose in it. Good stuff indeed! My mother in law loaths when I wear Del Mar. She always simulates getting choked to death when we meet. A few times I actually thought I needed to call 911. But I came to my senses and just said, stop acting silly. To add some salt to the wound I have never ever got a single complement from anyone. But i’m a believer. Someday, somewhere, someone will agree I can pull it off…

  29. :

    3 out of 5

Have to agree with alfarom on this one.
A very synthetic accord to this, one which makes me instantly nauseous. Reminds me of Oriflame S8…which I don’t have anymore. It is peppery, but in a plastic kind of sense – it just smells so unearthly to me, like an industrial by-product?

  30. :

    3 out of 5

No, it doesn’t smell like an “old” or “mature” fragrance at all. The beginning is quite provocative and evokes something “adventurous”, and I must say also playful and funny. I like very much the combination between citruses, woods and pepper in this fragrance. I’m a woman, but I normally choose perfumes for daily use according to a “yes/no pepper” criterion (Opium or other heavy orientals are an exception). But this is an unmistakably masculine fragrance and I would say it’s a lovely one. I would rate it 8.5/10, since the lasting power seems to be rather poor.

  31. :

A boring and generic peppery-aquatic fragrance in today’s perfumery style. Unremarkable.

Del Mar Baldessarini is meant to evoke the more mature man exploring the world’s oceans and holiday destinations. Does it deliver on that? The answer in mind is sort of.
Despite the ‘oceans’ reference, it’s not at all what I would call an aquatic style of fragrance (a good thing in my opinion – far too many of these out there already!). It’s still fresh, but slightly woody and a little bit spicy. It definitely feels more mature than say your run of the mill Calvin Klein, but it’s not ‘old’ smelling at all.
I feel that as the different Del Mar Editions were released in subsequent years, the Baldessarini line got better at evoking the sort of image they had originally intended with this release.
Don’t get me wrong, I really do like this, but I will probably not re-purchase this over Seychelles or Marbella editions. Sillage and longevity are average.
For what it’s worth my personal order of preference for the Del Mar line goes:
    1.
