    Très Chic!
This is heaven, the smell of indulgence and happiness. I own ALL of Declaration releases, variations and flankers, except*** Declaration Eau Genereuse, which has turned out to be a real challenge to acquire.
The creation of the Declaration original, the brightest spark of the ingeniosity of Jean-Claude Elena, has been faithfully carried out by the very talented Matilde Laurent, who more than anybody else, has the complete understanding of each and all genes of Declaration DNA.
Declaration eau de toilette is still my all time favorite fragrance, but Declaration Cologne edt has been a close second.
The hypnotic seduction of the original declaration has received in COLOGNE a really bright and refreshing punch of citrus, a mostly fierce lemon-lime accord, with a generous sting of spices. The result is an absolutely natural smell of tropical paradise, delightful as sipping fresh iced “caipirinha” on Brazilian beaches or eating the indulging ceviches roaming on the Peruvian coastal streets of Lima.
It’s a warm irresistible attraction for the senses, it’s like Declaration EDT has gone out on a South America vacation.
This fantastic Cartier creation has me turning back in time, rejoicing the pleasures of another all time favorite: Nina Ricci’s SIGNORICCI. A wonderful lemon-lime-spices elixir which together with Paco Rabanne pour homme had started my first steps towards fine perfumery.
This fortunately, is not a trend, not a pleaser of the masses, nor an unanimity, but is a bottle carrying inside the happiest and brightest summer days on its fresh and natural aroma.
Today, I just bought 3 of the 3.3oz bottles, which will join my other 3 bottles of the same size, of this already discontinued treasure, they will be kept in the dark on permanent 54 Fahrenheit degrees (12.23C) in a wine cooler I bought exclusively for perfumery preservation. I want to be able to wear those fragrances I love, while they are in their best for the years to come.

I am a huge fan of Declaration, scents by nose Jean Claude Ellena, and most of the declaration flankers. That being said, I could not stand this one.
The strong lime and ginger hide most of the Declaration dna (if there is any), and I got a scent that strongly smelled like dish soap.
I tried it in different seasons and different times. Still, a pungent dish soap (if I were washing dishes at a sushi shop).
While some may like it, I did not at all.
If you want a lighter scent in the Declaration family, try Declaration L’eau or Declaration Fraiche. They both are lighter while still staying true to their roots.

Love this! Citrus with a touch of spice. Breezy and fresh. Got a bunch of samples and I may have to get this. Totally unisex. Reminds me of Trussardi Skin.

This is a nice soft CLASSY fragrance….and nothing wrong with that
the fragrance is a citrus/spicy one. The longevity is lower than average (4-6hrs) and project for an hour and stay closer to the skin. So it’s an office friendly fragrance, casual too and dates. Good for Spring summer and early fall days
So the rating, I give it 6.5/10

My most recent flanker from this line, and wearing today for the first time, and I agree with some reviewers here that this is a more easy going frag for the warmer months when you want still to enjoy The Declaration core notes but at a cologne level classification; I will need to try it in a hot summer day to find out its performance on my skin in such condition. So far I liked it in Spring, but it fades kinda quickly.

Reminds me of a stronger version of Bulgari’s the Vert. And believe me stronger is better when it comes to a scent like this because these fresh scents tend to fade. But not this…this is a strong citrus, woodsy, mildly spicy dynamo and if you like coriander and cardamom in your scents, this one’s got it in ample measure. And that’s one of the reasons that it reminds me of The Vert, which also has that cardamom and coriander note. I also get a faint incense feel reminiscent of how it’s used in Prada Infusion D’ Iris that could be the spices giving me that impression. Gorgeous summer scent done to perfection.

A great spring or fall cologne beacause I found it citrical much more lemon and lime, misty and light. I don t know if it for really warm days or summer because it results very light and watery. It IS a watery and luminous lime and lemony cologne. In my skin it has a poor life … In the Acqua Allegoria Limon Verde, M & W 4711, L Occitane fragances with tea and citrics style.

If the original Declaration was a man in a pinstripe suit, this Cologne would be a man in an ivory cashmere or wool turtleneck.
The ginger and bergamot in the opening are just intoxicating, refreshing, energizing. I wish they stayed much longer before revealing the original Declaration DNA.
The projection is discreet, longevity is decent.
Elegant, relaxing, easy to wear. Love it!

This is the quintessential summer EDT, taking all of the positive qualities from the original Declaration, and adding ginger (one of my all-time favorite perfume notes) to the top notes, creating a wonderful, light, fresh and spicy masterpiece. The cardamom is heavily edited, but still has that Declaration DNA therein, making it a delightful and affordable scent for spring and summer. Heck, you could even wear it in the fall and winter, although I don’t think it is heavy enough to be able to pull off in the dead of winter. And, even though it’s labeled as a cologne (making me assume it’s EDC strength), it’s actually an EDT. Longevity is slightly less than average, but pricing makes it possible to apply throughout the day when it begins to fade to a skin scent: carrying a small decant is entirely possible.
Very, very nice and I too pray they don’t discontinue this as they did Bois Bleu.

Years ago I loved this. Tried it again and it smells like body odor on
Me???? All I get is spicy b.o. From the open to the finish of the dry down. I gave it to my sister, she loves it!

    o——–>! WOW ! <————-o
BLIND BUY after asking Fragrentica members :
“I need a cologne that smells like Indian Food”
Out of all their kind suggestions , THIS was the only affordable one (to me at least).
This is my 3rd or 4th Cartier. They do tend to be on the weak longevity side BUT always smell good and always come in HUGE bottles for some reason.
I just got this from the post office box about 15 minutes ago – but when I opened the package – spritzed and sniffed- an instant SMILE came over my face! This is *exactly* what I was looking for ! (except for the longevity part).
Even though this gem will require multiple refresh sprays during the course of a day– I accept it! The big 4 oz bottle was around $29.99 or so!
This is a spicy, confident , masculine frag that has blast of “that Indian food smell” . It’s linear indeed. Dry-down smells exactly like the first blast (that’s a good thing). Also noted that many Cartier colognes sorta have the same “base smell” or foundation– if that makes any sense.
    Gets my highest rating :

Images of Tangier first come to mind. A zesty clean bitter orange opening with the classy DNA of the original Dėclaration, but extremely poor longevity and sillage. There is no dry down because it just disappears! Such a shame as this would be a perfect summer fragrance otherwise.

I was doubtful at first about this fragrance but when I let it dry down I liked it.I get compliments about it all the time.Great fragrance.

Top starts out with a fresh, citric tang with a slight grassy-powdery vibe (similar to Yardley lemon verbena soap) that lasts for the first hour or so.
Middle phase loses that “verbena” kind of grassy feeling and a smoothness and dryness takes hold; my guess is this is where the ginger comes into play but I smell more “thai soup” lemon grass than ginger.
Dry down is just that: very dry with a vetiver-cedar-woody feeling.
Overall, pretty ballin’ and old school.

Good smell at a low price (I bought it on Fragrancex and paid around 35$ for 100ml).
Less spicy than the original version and more citric.
    Better for the summer days.
Longevity are great (about 6-8 hours) and sillage moderate.
A good option if you like Declaration and are looking for a more fresh version.I prefer this than a original.
(‘m not saying it’s better than the original, just fits to me more …)
    scent: 7/10
    longevity: 8/10
    sillage: 7/10

Awesome Fragrance… one of the best aroma!
    Very fresh, relax and energizing!
I feel a lot the Lemongrass smell… great combination of ginger, citrus and spices.
Unfortunately It has a very poor longevity (only 4 hours). The sillage is ok- moderade.
    Fragrância/Fragrance: 10/10
    Fixação/ Longevity: 4/10
    Projeção/ Sillage: 6/10
    Versatilidade/ Versatillity: 10/10
A projeção é ok- moderada.

A very pleasant cologne, which means that I like all of the Cartier Declaration line.
But, alas!, it’s the usual cologne thing. On me it’s gone within the hour.

I received a sample of this fragrance is fresh with citrus and a fantastic save from an incredible feeling of clean, this Declaration is still there but in a playful blend with notes of citrus, summer and spring are the seasons and its this also promises a decent longevity that never hurts, I’m not crazy about the cologne but this is really powerful stuff
    elegance and refinement.

Excellent summer choice. starts with a sour and almost bitter citrus notes, with the original declaration in the background but without the cumin note here. The is a smooth ginger note in the scent which blends in with the bergamot and bitter orange to give it a slight smoothness to the scent. This scent has decent silage and lasts around 6 hours on skin you may get an hour less or more.
For me a solid spring/summer choice if you want to be different from the usual aquatics.
    Scent 8.5/10

Expensive soap. Green, fresh, powdery and citrusy. I liked it didn’t love it. You will smell clean and rich. Try it. Summer fragrance for sure.

I just got myself a bottle of this lovely green juice. While it gives you this invigorating blast of sour-bitter citruses that are very nicely mixed with ginger it does retain the unique original ‘declaration’ trace. Might be a good choice for those who find the classic too intense.
One thing bothers me tho. On the bottle I got the red vertical ‘declaration’ is in block capitals unlike shown here on the bottle above. Anybody has a similar bottle of that cologne? Is it some new packing or what? Everything else about the product seems alright. Oh, and longevity is very decent as for a summer fragrance.

Holy moly what a blast of Pure lemon, ginger and lemongrass all at once! its lovely stuff and totally made for the summer, very refreshing, clean but not bitter in any way as some lemon/citrus frags come across. I dont get much spice or jasmine as stated in the notes??
Shame its so expensive but a great scent.

Outstanding lime and ginter notes, spicy and sweet. Longevity and sillage are good. Different from usual fruit or watery scents most people use in summer. Very impressive, highly recommended.

First wearing was about 1.5 sprays. Second time was 3 full sprays. I get the citrus, etc. to begin with, but it never goes anywhere. It just dissipates, rather quickly, actually. Sometimes I think I smell something but it never coalesces into anything. Is this what “transparent” fragrances are like? One reviewer on another site said that it seemed to sit on his skin rather than mixing with his skin chemistry. I conceptualize it as a kind of photograph, two dimensions trying to be three, lacking in depth. Also, the notes have no dynamism to them; they stay in place the whole time. I liked the listed notes, but somehow the perfumer succeeded in using them in the most boring way possible! I guess this was designed for the “masses,” a kind of “Cliff Notes” version of a fragrance. Or perhaps it is an olfactory simulacrum. If all fragrances were like this, other than dollar store ones, I would only wear the dollar store ones. Where are the base notes, for goodness sake !
UPDATE: If you don’t like a heavy use of iso e super I suggest you sample this one before buying a bottle.

Cartier’s Déclaration Cologne is a novel twist of ginger on the stereotypical and classic cologne invented by Farina in the late 18th century that is a light, citrus day fragrance.
I have gone through three bottles of this by now. It is very likeable and a good no-brainer that is suitable for any occasion. The zesty interplay of citrus fruits and ginger, however, only lasts for a couple of hours on the skin. It can definitely be reapplied during the day according to personal taste.
The fourth bottle is coming my way next spring for sure!

I just recieved this today. I was little bit suprised because it smells like ginger. It was very clean, light and sharp. After half an hour I smell lemon and later it’s like nice soap 🙂 I think it’s very nice frag.
