Fragrance Review For Darkness
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
Notes
Opium
Myrrh
Narcissus
The darkness of a haze
It’s an opium scented floral smell
Like walking into a Chinese opium den, literally the moment you walk in there and catch whiffs of that opium in the air. It has an opium and poppy flower smell and perhaps something herbal and green. It’s definitely a botanical scent but with that pronounced and unmistakable narcotic opium scent.
The narcissus floral scent is also there but it tends to turn somewhat plastic or synthetic, not a realistic white floral and the one accord they did not work on.
This is mainly an opium scent with a touch of myrrh
The myrrh is also pretty weak and comes through as a soft incense, a little bit of dark smoke.
That makes me think ah, this, this black smokiness is the “Darkness” in the moniker.
I close my eyes and let the name and the scent reveal herself to my mind, and I see a pitch black dark room where all you can hear is the sounds of people breathing or moaning – in pleasure – with a heavy opium and everywhere a little white or grey smoke fogging up the room.
This is somewhat mysterious but not too complex
It makes a good intro into Goth fragrances
Wearing this to a Greenwich Village Halloween party on the 31st

Goes on a lovely bitter, sticky black myrrh, but dries down into a plastic floral scent on me. I wish the onset lasted longer.

LAB’S DESCRIPTION
“The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave,
The moon, their mistress, had expir’d before;
The winds were wither’d in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perish’d; Darkness had no need
Of aid from them — She was the Universe.
Bottled gloom; the essence of oblivion. Blackest opium and narcissus deepened by myrrh.”
OOOH! Me no like!
This is almost all opium on me. Which, if I’m honest, I’m not too fond of.
It smells very much like a perfume shop counter perfume from the old days, which I suppose where the commercial scent “Opium” comes from.
Now….I’m not that familiar with Narcissus, but there’s definatley no Myrrh…
Very perfumey and very heady..
