Description

By Kilian launches Dark Lord in summer 2018.

Dark Lord “Ex Tenebris Lux’ is a gentleman of the night. Meet him in the most surprising of circumstances and his mystery slowly unfolds: A head-twisting mix of shadows and light, it seduces in seconds with its elegant, long-lasting accords of leather and strong vetiver, its jasmine drenched in rum, and a dandyish entrance of bergamot and pepper. Under lock and tasseled key, a 1.7 oz. flacon is carved with the Achilles’ Shield as a symbol of protection and finished with monogram-engraved gunmetal details. A smiling skull rises like a monument atop a black lacquered wooden coffret, illuminating a display of grim magnificence.”

By Kilian Dark Lord is as a 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas.

At first it smells like a mechanic with a spicy aftershave on. The dry down is all leather. Car leather and maybe a bit of the tires too. Not a bad scent (a new car scent), just not one I’d care to wear.

I can’t get past the name. If my husband wore this I would have to dig out my bottle of Pon Farr, which I bought as a joke. I know, two different franchises, but the nerdish level is about equal to me.

Dark Lord reminds me of walking into a tire store. The smell of new, clean, rubber tires. Not offensive but who wants to smell like tires?

It’s much better after a shower (sorry Kilian) For me it was like a dry citrus-vetiver bomb.

I kind of wish Tom Ford’s Oud Wood Intense would have smelled like this.

Leather opening and the same TdH drydown, good sillage and duration…anyway nothing special for me!

Got a full bottle, I really don’t understand the hate. It’s a good leather scent in my opinion. The scent revolves around leather and that’s what you get. The rest of the notes falls in the background, leather is in your face. The leather quality is as natural smelling as you can get, it’s not animalistic leather, but a leather that will remind you of a very expensive, laxury car that just pulled out the lot.
I picture a biker lol would definitely rock this, or a man all black in suit wearing this. Dark lord definitely fits it’s name. Leather in black is what i call it, a decent release in my opinion.
If you’re a guy looking for a legit leather in your face scent try this thin out it won’t disappoint.
Performance are great, it projects and last a long time. A cold weather scent for sure.
Price very un friendly 300 usd for 50 ml rip off imo. My friend hooked me up with a full bottle of Noir Aphrodisiaque (which i love) to sweeten up the deal so I didn’t mind paying full retail. This will be a like for me.
    A solid leather scent.

maybe I am sensitive to an ingredient in here, but this is absolutely unwearable for me. Something very medicinal/mentholated Vicks Vapor Rub like that made my tongue numb! nope!

Smells like a million other fragrances….eau sauvage extreme, russian leather by memo, santos de cartier…but the leather note here is more pronounced and pungent to the point of being unbearable to wear. Put it on in the dead of a freezing winter.

Got this in a tester with Black Phantom. Black Phantom had some staying power and I really enjoyed the smell. Dark Lord however was a little more generic and was gone in a matter of hours. Not a fan.

    I tried Dark Lord yesterday.
A friend smelled my wrist an hour later and said ‘leather’.
I love the smell of leather, a new leather jacket for example. I’d really like a fragrance that smalls like a leather jacket, or a new top grain leather sofa, but nothing I’ve smelled does.
I was hoping I would like Dark Lord. but I don’t. It’s been a very long time since I smelled Terre d’Hermes, but the vetiver in Dark Lord reminds me of that (it’s amusing that someone said of Terre d’Hermes that people should stop comparing it to every vetiver fragrance!)

I never liked leather to begin with. But this right here is just sexy. Dark rebel and Gucci guilty absolute are horrendous compared to this. The vetiver tones down the leather enough so it isn’t offensive and adds some freshness, the bergamot is just right and the pepper gives it a slight spice. My wife loves this on me. When testing out be sure to give it some time and I guarantee the notes will blend in much smoother.

I found it quite offensive to be honest. It might as well be called Edge Lord.
I normally like leather fragrances, and there’s leather here, sure. Black, heavily processed leather combined with the smell that stays in your hands long after doing repair work on a car/bike. Motor grease and oil.
It seems to last forever too.

I got a sample of Dark Lord in a two pack with Black Phantom. I have heard great reviews of Kilian fragrances and wanted to try one. It smells fantastic. It is strong and the mix of leather, rum, and vetiver is great. It is a very masculine smell and I would consider it a good fragrance for the cooler weather in fall and winter.

Oh my Lord, this one is heaven! Yeah, it shares the opulent leather note with Guilty Absolute, but Dark Lord is much brighter, versatile and better in terms of quality.
In the dry down it becomes a citrusy vetiver with a leather in background; at a whole the fragrance is closer to Encre Noire or to something vetivery than to Gucci Absolute.
    Excellent!

Gucci Guilty Absolute smoothed out and refined with rum. GGA was horrid for me, but the quality was there THIS is different, better, and daringly wearable. Bad boy leather with just the right amount of sweetness. Very different offering and an odd follow up to the smash hit Black Phantom. If you are a fan of the genre it’s awesome.

Oh dear lord! This is elegant, long-lasting accords of leather and strong vetiver, its jasmine drenched in rum, and a dandyish entrance of bergamot and pepper. But if you don’t pay attention to the notes and just smell it as a whole scent on its own, it smells straight up like burnt charcoal when doing bbq. This is a really a good smoke fragrance! Extremely smoky but has a fresh side to it as well. Projection is phenomenal! Everyone could smell me today and very long lasting!

Does anyone know when this offical drops? And where to get samples lol

A musty dark leather accord with peppery and woody facets meets an almost fruity boozy sweetness. Seems much more like a brandy note to me than rum. This falls somewhere in the triangle of Gucci Guilty Absolute, Tome Ford 2018 Ombre Leather, and House of Matriarch Black No. 1. It is far less complex than Black No. 1, has some gasoline/petroleum vibes from Guilty Absolute, and the simplicity of Ombre Leather. Very nice, but I’d say go with Ombre Leather over this simply for price, that is unless you love Dark Lord. Overall, a solid release, we’ll see how it does.

Wow! Dark! I get leather and some sweet citrusy elements. Very daring and not for everyone. Reminds me a lot of Gucci Guilty Absolute but not as dry and more sweeter. I get a nice sweet boozy rum in the dry down but its not overly boozy. Just enough to add a little more sweetness. Great follow up to Black Phantom.

Very dry leather in the opening. I don’t get any of the bergamot or rum. There is zero sweetness in this at all. It’s very dry and earthy. The leather hangs on until the late dry down where the vetiver takes over. At this point, it reminds me of the dry down of Terre D’Hermes, a fragrance that I don’t care for. I was so excited for this one because of the name and Kilian, but I really don’t care for this. It’s too dry and personally I really hate vetiver as a note.

Sounds like Voldemort finally got his signature scent! The flankers should be “L’Eau You-Know-Who” and then “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Intense”. 😀
