Dark Knight was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Hany Hafez.

I got a sample from AF and did not like it. The opening is a slightly sweet, sharply ashy, burnt coffee scent. As it dries down the sharpness is reduced and a smoother, vague chocolate, slightly rum-sweet, very burnt smell remains.
I’ve tried this 3 times over the week and I can’t see what others are posting about. I doubt this is my skin chemistry as it is way too much of a variance from the listed description. I suspect this is one of those fragrances that needs to sit for a few weeks, or I received a bad batch… well, I certainly hope this is the case.

SCENT OF THE DAY: Much like the mysteries of the Great Pyramids; Dark Knight by Alexandria offers an intoxicating, dark and mysterious gourmand fragrance. For those who are new to Alexandria Fragrances, Dark Knight is a near indistinguishable inspiration of Kilian’s Black Phantom. During my testing of these fragrances I discovered both are near identical with the exception of one very important factor, longevity. Dark Knight opens with heady notes of chocolate and rum, drying down with a caramel, coffee and sandalwood accord. Dark Knight is a sweet boozy fragrance with depth that is warm, spicy and seductive. Dark Knight is a unisex fragrance and perfect for anytime of the year however, I believe Dark Knight is very masculine and better suited for Fall and Winter seasons.
Longevity: I get about 8+ hours of longevity with Dark Knight.
Disclosure: With Dark Knight having such a potent aroma, two to three sprays should suffice.
Pricing and Alternatives: At the time of this review , Dark Knight can be purchased from Alexandriafragrance.com in two different sizes; 1oz for $39.99 or 2oz for $59.99. If you’d rather purchase the fragrance that ispired Dark Knight, Black Phantom can be purchased at many big box retail stores, i.e. Nordstrom, Saks and Neiman Marcus for about $295.99.
Final thoughts: Dark Knight is an overall well-blended fragrance that does not lack depth or quality . For the price, it’s an absolute must have in any fragrance collection. Alexandria produces many original and inspired fragrances comparable to top tier fragrance houses, however, Dark Knight is an absolute beauty and takes my number one spot from the house of Alexandria.

Simply incredible! Deeper, nuttier, and wooder than BP. I love BP but this one is a great wear when you just don’t want to use your premium juice. And, that’s never a bad thing.

I have Dark Knight sprayed on the back of my left hand and Black Phantom (from a decant supplied by Sad Muppet – thank you!) on the back of my right.
They are similar – but there are differences. On spritzing, these are my first impressions:
1. Black Phantom is sweeter and (in my opinion) smells more “feminine”.
2. Dark Knight is woodier and drier – this leans masculine.
3. I am getting a LOT more sweet caramel from Black Phantom and I’d describe it as a gourmand fragrance.
4. The coffee note in Dark Knight is stronger than in BP.
5. Black Phantom is boozier.
6. There’s an undertone to Dark Knight – almost like petrol or one of its byproducts – which I am picking up if I sniff my hand from too close; I don’t like that much (I can’t smell it from further away and don’t walk around with my nose buried in the perfumed areas of my skin, so it’s not an issue).
I become accustomed (and therefore almost “nose-blind”) to Black Phantom within 30 minutes, whereas I can still smell Dark Knight.
This experiment needs to be repeated, but I am reasonably sure that – as of this moment – I prefer Dark Knight to Black Phantom.
It’s fair to say I was not expecting this outcome.
ETA. After five hours, I can’t really tell difference between the two – but Dark Knight still projects further and smells stronger (on me).
Edited again: I could still smell DK on my hand 12 hours after spraying, despite multiple washings; BP was a distant memory.

Hands down one of the best inspirations I’ve ever smelled. I can’t tell the difference between Dark Knight and Black Phantom. Spicy, dark and sexy! Sillage is incredible and the longevity is beastly. If you’re looking to save a few bucks I highly recommend this fragrance. Awesome work Hany!

I see Haney getting a lot of praise on this fragrance, so I had to get myself a bottle since black Phantom is my fave fragrance. I will agree and disagree.
When I first smelled black Phantom I was in love. It was the PERFECT mix of sweet and spicy. This fragrance does a very good job of copying that smell and memory associated with it(in its own way). However it is not exact, which to me, actually makes it not an amazing fragrance. The smell of black Phantom is so unique that the smells need to hit you in the same order and concentration, otherwise it will smell kinda off and just doesn’t feel right.
When you open dark knight and smell it from the nozzle of the spray, it is black Phantom. However, when you spray it on your skin, the dry down is a different story. It’s not as sweet as black Phantom (which I think Mr. Hafez got a lot of shit for because I see people complaining it was too sweet, I must’ve gotten an upgraded batch). Instead you will smell it to be very woody and spicy. I’m not sure exactly what the smell is, but if I was to guess it would be Patchouli. I’m saying this because there are 2 other fragrances that this reminds me of on this woody dry down.
1) Maison Martin Margiela Music Festival
2) Rasassi tobacco blaze.
These smell good at first. Then their dry downs get sooo woody that it gives me a headache. And dark knight is very reminiscent of this dry down and gives be a little bit of a headache, where black Phantom didn’t have such an effect.
People on YouTube said this smells 95 percent close to black Phantom. I will disagree, this smells 80 percent like black Phantom, which to me is not enough.
I think you should support Mr. Hafez on his other colognes, but maybe wait till you know for sure he has perfected this one. Not an easy task, but almost there. I’ll also mention, I have a VERY sensitive nose and even my friends have mentioned. So maybe what you smell isn’t what I smell, because I can really tell the difference. Not going to lie, was a little overall dissaponted, but that’s only because black Phantom is on God level fragrance. I pretty much made a fragrantica account for this because I love black Phantom that much LOL!

I have not smelled Black Phantom, but due to its’ descriptions, name and hype, I expected a more caramel-centered, sweet, coffee and intoxicating BANG of a fragrance…yet I got nutty cocoa puffs/chocolate… Not horrible,but not what I was expecting either.
*UPDATE: Just smelled Black Phantom from By Kilian and for those of you who are wondering, this smells like an EXACT REPLICA of it! Except Dark Knight is louder and longer lasting. So if you’re looking for a dupe, this one is the one to go for!
**UPDATE: I grew to like it a little bit more with every application, so for now, I’ll be keeping my bottle.

Sorry but count me out of the gravy crowd on this 1. I was never a fan of BP (it’s gone down the heliotrope/nutty route) but have to say Mr Hany is incredibly talented. Kudos but inherently, the juice is a miss for me, sorry!

I tried By Kilian Black Phantom and Dark Knight side by side (left hand and right hand). Dark Knight is a perfect imitation of Black Phantom. Longevity and silage are great.
Highly highly recommend purchasing this fragrance if purchase price is unreasonable for Black Phantom. Alexandria Fragrances hit a home run (out the park)!

I’m glad I have a chance to write a review here, because the review I wrote for the Alexandria site was never published. This fragrance did not smell good on me at all. It was not sweet. It was a dirty synthetic mess, with a weird note of cumin or some other spice that reminded me of body odor. I couldn’t scrub it off fast enough.

A very nice Almondy Chocolate juice with a hint of coffee and rum. Overall a very nice fragrance with ok longevity and projection. Not sure of the quality of there ingredients but I do like most of the scents that I have purchased from the house.
