Description

Daring was introduced in 2004 in floral-woody-musk composition, designed by Nathalie Lorson. Top notes consist of coriander accords and herb Mezereon (Daphne mezereum) blossoms. The heart is composed of apple notes, jasmine, honey and peony. The base sensually seduces with musk, sandal and Stiraks balm. This perfume is available in the elegant bottle and purple box. Romantic, elegant and seductive, it is dedicated to an independent and strong woman.

I don’t find it daring in the least. The name surprises me. Then again, so does the fragrance.
I’m surprised at just how appealing I find Daring. It’s so very pleasing to wear. And wear it I do, over and over and over, as I have recently realized.
I’m so intrigued to discover what about it holds me close. Is it the Prada Amber Pour Homme-esque myrrh I perceive? The one HE wears tugging at me subconsciously? Maybe.
I guess it could be the more feminine Mariella Burani-esque sandalwood. Possibly. It certainly presents with the same soft familiarity in Daring.
I’m not sure I quite believe there’s no heliotrope, no vanilla. Because it certainly smells and feels like the same Boucheron Jaipur Saphir-esque cuddle.
It’s not the coriander. Unlike most, I barely get a whiff of it in Daring, mercifully. Not in the beginning and not the hours and hours of wear which follow.
SOMETHING is pushing my comfort buttons in this composition, but…what?
What is it about Daring for me? Why such a reaction?
    Maybe that’s the ‘dare’,
being comfortable in the beautiful unknown.

this begins with a blast of woods and spices, and i am definitely getting coriander from this. after a few minutes i get some sweetness from the apple and florals. this is spicy, but definitely more of a green spicy than a warm/red spicy. the honey and musk are there in the background, but still the spices and florals are strong on me. unfortunately, i just cannot seem to do peony and often cannot do jasmine. i think that those notes are being amped up and it makes this too strong on me.
ETA: after being on the skin for 1 hour+ then i get that lovely honey and woods and it’s just gorgeous! i will try this again, i am just not sure i can sit through the strong coriander-floral part of the beginning, but i will try it at a later date.

Daring is an absolute beauty of a scent. Sexy, soft and smells luxurious.
The first whiff is coriander with jasmine and a hint of myrrh. The dry down reveals that all these notes are intermingling -in wonderful harmony- with a pretty peony dipped in a bit of honey. I know it’s not listed but I smell a divine vanilla note.
To my nose Daring is not a gourmand but rather a powdery floral. As the scent evolves the notes becomes one big note of pretty perfume.
It’s a very sensual perfume. Not as Daring as Agent Provocateur or Shocking — the name Daring is wrong IMO, Soft Seduction would be far more accurate: it smells sexy but not naughty, rather very very pretty and yummy. In a: “I have to come closer to smell more of that lovely scent” kind of way.
Great for day & evening wear alike. Suitable for all occasions. It’s sexy but not offensive or in your face.
Silage is: “I’m surrounded with a sexy, soft powdery aura” — Longevity is: “I am leaving a trail of sexy softness for the next 5+ hours. Follow it at your own risk and see how daring I am”.
    A beautiful keeper!

Watch out, it’s a very nice perfume but ALREADY two of Isabella Roselini’s perfumes I’ve bought was rancid. There is no excuse for this because I’ve bought them sealed! I had to return the one of them to the store and replace it with another bottle. This one I bought through the net and so I was -kind of- obliged to keep it. I had a decant from a swap and I knew how it smelled.
I guess that Coty didn’t do such a good job with those perfumes, since they are the first perfumes that I have and they are ‘bad’.
    ABOUT THE PERFUME ITSELF:
It smells divine! I like it very much, very feminine and ladylike, suitable for all ages but mostly for younger women (-45).

This one was a blind buy and it was a FAB FIND! It was inexpensive and smells divine! It has a lot of depth and has good lasting power too. Honey and musk – a delicious combination. Once again, great value!

Why do I get a feeling that it smells identical to Sunset by Naomi Campbell…
Daring is perhaps on the top of my list of floral woody musk fragrances. It is sensual, sexy, deep and very much appropriate to go with lacy lingerie and silky robe.
My partner loves it and I really have that luxury feel when I wear it, I am not sure if I can describe it better than this.
Daring is seductive and according to me, evening time suits it best.
Myrrh, wood, jasmine a a hint of honey does the job – it will work on your partner’s senses, believe me 🙂
Daring is a great composition which although belongs to a middle-low shelf has the quality of a top shelf fragrance.
    Good silage, nice lasting power.
    Well done, Ms Lorson.

I got this as a birthday gift and absolutely love it! My daughter says it’s definitely a “me” fragrance. It has a wonderful sweet yet spice scent and the staying power is great.

Although I like Isabella Rosselini and think she is a good pick for celebrity perfume, didn’t like any of her scents so far. This one was strong and unpleasant.

I have been looking for a soft floral or floral woody musk for some time. I had and love Mediterranean by Elizabeth Arden, but I wanted something different, something muskier. I found Daring by Isabella Rossellini for very little money and decided to try it. It is lovey, the heart is peony, jasmine and some flowers that I can’t idenify. There is a loud top note, but it doesn’t last very long. The honey is mild and not too sweet which I like and this means the scent can be worn all year round. While I like the heart the real beauty is the dry down. Musk and myrrh make this perfume soft and sexy, warm and inviting. This is a quality perfume and it last a long time. Soft, sexy, and elegant, I am so glad I bought this. It is a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

“Daring” is aptly named for sure. And here I was aiming at a more subtle, gentle, breathy little fragrance that might border between floral/woody/musk and fruity/floral.
But with the opening came a “swallow” of the coriander, strong and all-consuming. Not that I’m against that in general 🙂
This note is center stage throughout to the middlenotes, I can’t even rightly smell other notes from the midlle for a long time. Even so much that I get the impression of an oriental than anything else. Don’t be mistaken – it is a gorgeous scent that makes me again want to strangulate our capitalist system whose rules made the company to stop producing this.
Isabella Rossellini is the face of so many gorgeous little masterpieces, and again this too, defenitely is not your typical celeb.perfume!
But if I want to wear it, I really have to forget any classification and just enjoy it, especially when it dries down!
Myrrh and honey take over from the coriander spice and make me think and yearn for Sicily and its culture clash of the moors and romans and the left beauty of it!
It’s warm, warm, and warm like the heated sand and incenced with a suptle jasmined-fruity note(though I couldn’t specify the apple I’m afraid) and a delightful strong liquid honey with a bit of wax surrounding together the myrrh!
And the last middle is where fl/w/m comes to mind. In the drydown the sandalwood becomes more prominent and adepts to the myrrh.
I think the prospect of using up my bottle already makes me sad after only two days of using this – I really am impressed by IR. I think she was ahead of her time and if it was launched today, it would be a seller. I don’t know many myrrh-fragrances, but if there are any as gorgeous as this, I defenitly want to try them.

bit sharp smelling, think it is afterall the coriander and the myrhh?

Starts out prettily enough, ordinary, pleasant. The sweet bright note atop must be the mezereon they describe here, but I’ve never smelled it, so I’m not sure (and I thought Daphne mezereon was poisonous? Does anyone know?). Doesn’t get ‘daring’ until the drydown, and even then it’s covertly so– like going commando under your power suit.Perfect for being unobtrusively defiant. I agree with lia006; the myrhh makes it special.

Feminine and elegant perfume with a pleasant fragrance. Special from the myrrh. On me averagely lasting.
