Description

L’Occitane au Brésil introduces their new women’s fragrance inspired by floral mystery of ‘night lady’ enveloped in spices in a sophisticated and elegant manner. Eau de parfum and perfumed products of the collection continue the tradition of the special Brazilian line of the house of L’Occitane and celebrate special ingredients and aromas of Brazil.

“As a shiny star that fell from the sky and blooms on the Earth. Night lady decorates Brazilian forests. During day she hides while other flowers compete in their beauty. But when the night falls, she awakes and becomes a jewel in the garden, opening her starry petals and exuding irresistible scent that intoxicates passers-by “.

The composition of Dama da Noite is signed by perfumer Marion Costero who wanted to highlight the irresistible scent of queen of the night flowers. Intoxicating floral aromas are surrounded with cardamom and lavender, whereas drops of mandarin contribute to luminosity and sophisticated sweetness.

Dama da Noite (Cestrum Nocturnum), better known as night blooming jasmine, queen of the night, Coerana, Coirana is a beautiful flower which grows in tropic and subtropical regions. It grows as a bush and can reach up to 4 meters in height. Its tiny flowers have starry shape, while its leaves have simple form and are shiny and soft. The scent of its tiny flowers becomes intoxicating and intense during the night, when its petals open.

Behind visual identity of the new collections stands Celene Godoi who illustrated outer carton of the collection with charming flowers of night blooming jasmine, whose illustrations can be seen on scarves in the sets.

Fragrance L’Occitane Dama da Noite can be obtained as 75ml Eau de Parfum accompanied with perfumed body cream, packed as 230ml and perfumed soap, as 100 gram. L’Occitane au Brasil prepared numerous gift sets with different products of the collection, combining them with scarves and cosmetic purses.
Dama Da Noite was launched in 2016.

I bought it in a brazilian airport. It’s good, very feminine, a cross between So de La Renta, J’adore and Anais Anais Premier Delices. It has a good sillage and longevity, which is not common for L’Occitane and Boticário colognes (Boticario is a brazilian cosmetics/perfumes brand). As I said before, it’s not a original composition, but it’s really good. Glad I have it!

On me this is one of the fleetingest perfumes I have used in my life.I love “dama da noite” flower a night blooming jasmine with a very intense and delicious smell. At mother’s house we used to have a “dama da noite” bush, but mother found the scent too strong and replaced the plant. So I was delighted to find this scent, but it was a total disappointment. In my skin it is a very commonplace, non -“dama da noite” smell with a poor longevity (30 to 40 min) and weak sillage. I thought it could be a partial anosmia but other Brazilian Fragranticans (not all) did not find it long lasting or strong . For a better “dama da noite” scent I can think only of Dior Addict.
Flor de Luar is a different flower altogether, from the Amazon region and the scent is moderate to long lasting on my skin with moderate to heavy sillage. It seems to be far more authentic and well researched than Dama da Noite with local ingredients, but smells a bit like The One by DG.

Certainly a floral-oriental that does not translate the reality of ‘Caestrum nocturnum’ but rather pays a homage to it.
When you first spray, a citrusy, succulent, juicy burst of oranges will hit your nostrils, which is good but not amazing, just well blended. As the alcohol evaporates, undertones of lavender and spices gradually rise to complement the fruits. Where is the flower? It’s still quite, as the shiny composition is brightening the joyous day.
Then it happens: from dawn to dusk, as the sun sets, the vigorous vines, hidden amongst the crowded woods, thousands of small little green buds with the strength of an army show their power! Not like the real plant that can give you headaches easily (I have many in my gardens), instead of exploding in your face, it will be gently massaged over you.
There’s an oily quality to it, hard to explain, evoking a dark, cloudy atmosphere, which is why I emphasized the Oriental aspect. I tend to say that perfume is genderless, but this is really a feminine fragrance. Worth trying if you like “floriental” compositions.
P.s.: maybe is coincidence, but the Brazilian company Natura (Au Brésil is trying to compete with it) released a similar fragrance almost at the same time, called “Flor do Luar” (Moonlight Flower), similar in concept and many aspects, but with its own identity. Worth checking it also if you like the described above.

For those who knows nothing about the night blooming jasmin we call it in arabic ( malekat Elleel ) means ( queen of the night ). The night blooming jasmin is a common name of cestrum diurnum. It takes so many flower forms & colors not just the one shown above. I remember my older uncle has one in his garden & as I can recall the scent it was out of this world breathtakingly beautiful in a way that I never experienced before but maybe that because I was a kid back then but now as an adult it will be a whole different experience aside from the childhood memories. I’ll try to track this fragrance in my local L’Occitane store & write a review about it when it hit the stores. This could be perfect for 2016 winter.
