Description

Cynefin’s sprightly herbaceous overtures, fizzing in delight, evoke curious consideration. What at first appears exhilarating and light leads to much deeper connotations. In an assured greeting Davana’s chameleon-like balsamic, green and herbal tones, laced with camphor and peppery angelica, infuse the composition with perpetual energy. All the while floating on the scented crest of this effervescent wave is a sense of recognition and belonging that sweetly vibrant lavender wakes from slumber. Ever present, graceful and suave, this lilac-hued protagonist is happy in its own company yet clearly conducts the throng of oscillating notes in flight. The impression of soft Nappa leather from crushed violet leaves brings a balancing masculine edge that diffuses as if the clean and fresh aroma is rising after rain. Sensual musks overlaid with amber add a rich velvety softness and a dry woody trace, ensuring this scent born from the moment water meets air is full and burgeoning. Flooding throughout the fragrance with the fizz and hiss of escaping vapour, Cynefin unexpectedly draws back the veil of the everyday to bestow an overwhelming sense of joy. Cynefin was launched in 2013.

I am a fan of Rouge Bunny Rouge (Embers and Tundra are my favorites) in that they make some very interesting, unique and solid quality perfumes. Cynefin is no exception as, to my nose, this one is a hard-to-describe blend of green, earthy, herbal, musky, dusty fragrance…while nice, and hugely interesting, I do not find it to be exceptional.
Lavender and violet leaf are most prominent (to my nose) in Cynefin, but it mainly comes across as being a refined green aromatic scent that is best used by well-dressed gentleman, who are professional but don’t take themselves too serious. Cynefin is described as being effervescent and having a masculine edge that diffuses as if the clean and fresh aroma is rising after rain. Well, that pretty much captures my thoughts and sentiments regarding this fragrance.
Performance is solid in that it lasts 7-hours and projects slightly above moderate on my skin. One small complaint is that I sprayed Cynefin on both sides of my neck and the aromatic green waves of angelica and violet leaf were beating me above the neck and shoulders during the first hour causing a slight sinus headache. So spray the wrists and perhaps under the shirt in order to avoid this situation.
Although not a good fit for me, I find Cynefin to be a very nice and very interesting fragrance worth checking-out if you’re into these green, herbal, aromatic type of scents.

Smelling this was a weird trip down memory lane. On my skin, Cynefin smells like a cross between Copydex and Gloy. They were weird, rubbery glues from the 1980s that were ubiquitous in primary school classrooms, and useless at gluing anything. The glue smelled like fishy marzipan, made excellent bogies when it dried up and you could roll it between your fingers (you made your own fun in those days).
As a perfume, this is a pass. Longevity is also pretty awful, much like the glue.

Cynefin (Welsh for habitat) is a formula in which all ingredients have been carefully selected to remind you of damp soil in a forest after the rain. A very different kind of freshness compared to conventional citruses or marines, in Cynefin the freshness comes from wet moss, violet leaf and herbs.

Cynefin is a super fresh maritime fragrance.
It´s extremely soft to my nose.
I imagine always that the sea smells like this.
    Slightly salty water.
It reminds me really much of Aqva Amara by Bvlgari.
The musks Velvione and Moxalone are doing their job very well.

Molto persistente, erbaceo rupestre a tutto tondo.
Suppongo molto apprezzato da escursionisti amanti della montagna e da Heidi.

Read other reviews regarding Cynefin from other sites and I wholeheartedly disagree with them regarding the longevity. Was someone paid for that opinion?! It doesn’t take long at all for this woody aromatic to run out of long distance and anytime minutes but there might be hope…Just spray it on your clothing to be on the safe side. The scent is decent and has the ability to appeal to a feminine audience. It’s sweet, floral, clean and peppery(thanks to the artemisia). The notes aren’t over-bearing and shares duties to ensure that your summer endeavors is met with nostalgia. The light woody ambery base doesn’t exactly anatomize the florals but lends a much needed unisexual balance for the gents. Longevity issues aside, a good summer option.
