This is the niche version of Mugler’s Pure Tonka. It smells like the final drydown of Tonka which I love; the opening of Pure Tonka is sickening. Really good performance but the best from the line I would say is Cuir Caraibe.

Very gourmand. Seconding the impression of a spicy cake. Vanilla, cardamom and tonka. I get a very light suede-like scent, but I barely register it as leather. Not my style, but I would still like to try Cuir Caraibes

I received this beauty as a 20ml sample with my Oud Crop 2016. She’s so gracious..”Michelle”. Had to say her name becauae if it wasn’t for her, I dont know when I would’ve ever gotten my nose on this being I wasn’t familiar with this house
Needless to say, this juixe overshadowed the beautiful presentation of Oud Crop 2016. NOW, first hit….chocolate amber. Then cinnamon , amber combo with something dark in the background….maybe the leather? 6 hours later it just wont stop and here comes the suede. This is a banger. I Have Akaad, Alambar, Ambre Eccentricco and Anima Dulcis. These all fit in my cage…for different occasions and times. When I scratch about $200, Ill look for a bottle…which is sexy as well. RaJuR real deep kool on YouTube and the Web

Rather than focus my thoughts on the ‘faux’ leather comments (which I agree on, but feel it lends a slightly finer and deeper feeling) I will focus on how the notes combine with one another to create a spiced rum aroma.
Patchouli, benzoin and spices probably aren’t too uncommon to combine and the smell isn’t entirely unique BUT if you’ve ever been on a date with a nice smelling fella who’s wearing a leather jacket and a nice smelling, spicy or oriental fragrance over some rum & coke, this might smell very familiar to you. Smells a little of warm cinnamon and vanilla all the way throughout and is just generally pleasant. I accidentally layered this atop No. 19 by Chanel and, while you wouldn’t expect it to smell all that good. the green aspects of the Chanel lent a very kind, though oppressive hand to Cuir Altesse.
I can’t say much more about this, but there does seem to be a spicy amber feeling to this also. I know it’s not listed, but it smells a little of it. Wouldn’t disregard this, it’s sort of a keeper. From what I’ve tried, I’d consider buying this.

Funny how so many folks love this who are not ordinarily leather lovers. I am usually a leather lover and this does not work for me. Go figure cause I am in love with Cuir d’Reve and I mean big love. I get the leather in Altesse but it is a little sour on my skin and I don’t like sour. Not listed but definitely detected is a tobacco leaf smell. I grew up as a child in Kentucky so I know that smell of tobacco hanging and drying in a barn and that is what I smell. It does mellow some after a while but this is a pass for me.

This beautiful masterpiece somehow reminds me of Dior Dune, but spicier/piquanter and sweeter. I get mostly orange and pepper with vanilla and tonka – it is kind of linear on my skin but I simply love it!

One of the few ‘leather’ fragrances I really like. The leather is softened and sweetened with lovely Tonka and resins. A BIG hit of leather, Tonka and spices on the opening and they ease off considerably after half an hour or so. I wish the leather hung around much longer. It settles down to spices, patch, resins and now reminds me a lot of Lubin Akkad which I love.
It’s a pricey fragrance and IMHO not worth the hefty price tag. Good longevity and sillage.

“Leather” + patchouli note + spice notes (all about equal intensity imho). The leather isn’t especially realistic, but it is the niche fragrance-type impression of leather. I get faint licorice too, and maybe even some very faint notes of menthol.
Vanilla and tonka notes become more prominent in drydown.
Not for me – but leather frags in general are not for me so don’t let me dissuade you from trying it if it sounds like ur kind of thing.

I don’t even smell the leather. Instead I’m reminded of horchata, that kind of sweet cinnamon smell, along with a bit of spice from the pepper. I got a hint of the orange but it faded quickly. Very nice, but I’m not deriving any of its depth.

The leather here is suffocated by toffee candy like a sugared almond.
Extremely sugary. Sticky. Ipervanilla. Also a bit woody, dark wood, but not enought.
More than leather smell sweet like sugared vynil.
It Seems to toffee candy melted in its plastic wrapping.
    Almost medicinal smell.
Unbalanced. Wrong match I dare to say.
After an hour or more is better, less suffucating, smell like a magic castle.
Not my kind. Very gourmand, very spicy cake, invisible leather.

Masterpiece of strong leather/ patch opening with classy softer vanilla base, very lasting, opulent and must have.
Great for cold weather or special night out, it gives a very celebratory feel.

At last, there is a nice fragrance from this house beside the mandarine one!
It is cardamom, cloves leather type of fragrance with some pepper and patchouli on aside as the pepper rises too much the calmer it goes! and i hope it keeps it’s balance so far cause the first sniff wasn’t promising but as it cools down it goes quite interesting.
But i guess after all, the middle note now is quite sorry for being good for a little while on the top note! i guess right after these 5 fragrances… i lost hope for this brand for good.

Ah, this is heaven. Sweat leather! Love, love, love; this is a combination of leather a good cumin and a hint of pepper, like drinking Pastis in a warm night with your new leather handbag on the table, new that your big love will come soon. Chique, very sexy!
