I bought Shiso in 2000 in Comme’s Tokyo store. Got the 100ml bottle back then, which was in light blue colour – contrary to the commonly depicted 50ml size in green and the surface of the bottle had some kind of rubber coating, it feels really different to your normal glass bottles at the time and still now – which leads to the fragrance, the whole green leaves series feature this amazing holographic dimensionality, smelling Shiso, I recall, really was a superb experience, the ingredients in addition to the leaf, completely boosted up the volume of this fragrance making it at once a hyperreal image of the plant. Hope that they’ll bring it back. The lasting power was about 10 minutes, well utterly short, which was sad as this might sound for some, and also quite a cool feature of having this hallucination suddenly vanishing from your skin. Excellent work.
