I have the black bottle. I often use it with Benetton Energy for man. The projection and longevity is a monster.
I sometimes spray it on my hot water tub when I am taking a bath and voila ….. my bathroom smells so nice …

Has this been reformulated along with change of the bottle’s color from black to blue? TIA x

The lemon is very intense in the beginning and during the middle notes, and when it comes to the base notes, you can definitely feel the vanilla. It does remind you of something, maybe during the 80’s it was a commom smell and used for other purposes, like car air freshener and cleaning products. I’m not saying that you will smell like that, but I wouldn’t recommend to you if you want to show up with a nice, modern smell. The best occasion for me is to be worn as a work scent and when the weather is mild. Big longevity and projection, it lasts the whole day and people around you will smell. Maybe if somebody gets too close it can be strong, so be careful with the number of sprays. Age group: any, but some may see it as a more mature man fragrance, since it’s not that modern.

really love this one been wearing it the past few days, for me a get a nice fresh feeling of a spicy citrus in the beginning , to a woody citrus toward the end , if this is fall i can only imagine this being better in the spring and summer cant wait for that

Ive had this for awhile so i figured I should write a more in detail review. Every time I wear this, i warm up to it even more. I know it probably sounds odd coming from a 17 year old but I love it. It makes me feel comfortable and clean. Its so unique and unlike anything ive ever smelled. It gives me a very clean polished feel similar to the same feeling from mass produced aquatics. Its very subtle after about 10 minutes.Gets lemmony with soap suds. i love it,

This was in my want list and yesterday I found it at a local ross for 9 dollars, i had to nab it up. After i got to the parking lot after purchasing this, i excitedly, opened the box and put a spray on the wrist. I got a bit scared at first but it actually grew on me. It starts of to me like the smell of lime jello mixed with whipped cream, you know the stuff you get in a parfait cups in the hospital cafeteria? And then I get sort of a fresh barber shop smell, like shaving cream. And then it dries down to a very woody floral smell. Overall its a pretty good cheapie. For an 80s scent, its pretty light. Allot of the 80s scents tend to be a bit heavier like bijan (which I hate with a passion) sung homme and obsession (which I have and love) and drakkar noir . An excellent every day smell. Id say id probably buy it again if I were to run out.

I like this Benetton “colors” very much.
The older version in black bottle was much stronger and is a fantastic scent.

I blind bought a 100 ml of this for $10…. immediately “gifted” it to my dad. Hyper-citrusy barbershop smell, with an undeniable note of talc powder and that blue stuff they disinfect combs with at the beauty parlor. Two lemons walk into a barbershop, one lemon falls into the comb-sterilyzing solution… the other follows… they throw the solution at customers, and piss off all the old men. That’s the story of this perfume, adios!

My initial impression of this was very much citrusy and herbal (like a more citrus-noted Halston Z-14). The dry down opens up some of the florals and the base notes give a nice subtlety. If only this fragrance was stronger and lasted longer.

I used to have this in High School in the original black bottle. It has most likely been reformulated (and cheapened) in recent years, but it holds fond memories for me. I remember it being fresh, citrusy, aromatic and green…

Is it mistake?No-it’s just Benetton, made cheaply for profits, the only value is the glass and name-fragrance is less interesting then cheap versions of big brands or other cheap fragrances. Better to buy some fresh lemon for lemonade then spend money on this something:P

I received this fragrance as a christmas present 6 years ago. Initially it smelt alright, but then it started to settle and bluntly smelt like old smelly socks and a lot of bad worded scents I’m not going to repeat in this post. I’m not overly materialistic, but I am picky when it comes to my perfume and for me a 5 dollars Australian buy isn’t never a good idea where perfume is considered.

Like lemon sherbets in liquid form. Synthetic and a little dated? Perhaps – but refreshing, fun and pleasurable to wear.
    Cheap as chips too!

I have the original all black bottle. It’s quite similar to Perry Ellis (the 1985 men’s scent, original version only), but a bit “brighter” and less floral. As with the vintage/80s greats, this is rich and complex. If you have tried a niche amber scent, think of the amber dialed back and some other notes allowed to come forward, though retaining that syrupy quality. This seems like more of a “casual” scent, though not as crude as something like vintage Pub Cologne, whereas vintage Perry Ellis for Men is more formal. The only place this may be lacking is in dynamism. The notes don’t have as much clarity as in other vintage greats. My advice would be to grab a bottle of the vintage if you can get it cheaply, as I don’t think there is much of an aficionado demand for this one as for some others (Patou Pour Homme being the obvious example).
UPDATE: The far drydown is dominated by a musky (“clean smoke”), dry, slightly sweet, vanillic, woody/incense that very nice, but again, not especially dynamic.

I bought this one blind and my initial reaction was “Eeek – what did i buy”. Though it had excellent lasting and projection power I didn’t like it much and it smelled quite dated to me.
But I wore it a few times and grew fonder of it, mainly because women asked me what I was wearing and seemed to like it more than I did. I mainly wear it in warm weather.

This is one of my guilty pleasures. I like it a lot. Synthetic, yes, but it works with my chemistry. Plus I don’t go too heavy on the trigger. A non serious fruity floral citrus.

I blind bought this one a couple of years ago and I’m going to be blunt, frankly I was disgusted. You know that guy that’s sitting next to you at a wedding who no one seems to know, but he’s taking the buffet for all it’s worth, and his clothes are seriously outdated? Well this is exactlly what he smells like. It’s strong and in your face, as if to say, LOOK AT ME, I’M HERE AND I’M OBNOXIOUS, DEAL WITH IT. If you want to repel those around you buy this frag, it’ll do the trick.

Colors is a good underrated colonge that fits well for spring/summer use. Its blend of lemon and lavander is bold but after it dries down the coconut and jasmin kick in. Colors is light and has great longevity. I got this as a blind buy from Stein Mart for 12 bucks 3.3 oz great buy and a cool made bottle

Most decent out of all Benetton’s for men. The product is cheap for newbie, especially with low budget, better than unfamous brand with the same price label.
I’ll put this in the bathroom, whoever comes in are most welcome to use.
My private shelf won’t accomodate this so I’ll place it outside

It is too bright in its initial phase and then it smells like lemons in a bouquet of flowers. The dry down is is a pleasant powdery citrus.

Back in college (early 90’s), this was my go-to scent. It is affordable, casual, and sweet smelling… just perfect for students and young gentlemen. I got compliments when I used this, even the guys were amazed by how good the scent is.
This cologne is really simple to understand: fruity opening, then turns sweet, almost candy-llike, and then settles on to the vanilla drydown. The projection is wide, but dies after 45 minutes to an hour or so, then stays relatively close to the skin. The longevity is good, and the price can’t be beat.
I am now past 30, but if I can find another bottle, then I’ll purchase it right away. This is just perfect when relaxing inside the house, or hanging out with friends on a cold afternoon winter day.

I received this as a gift back in the early 90s. Wore it occasionally, but never really liked it. The open is a sort of a mishmash of citrus and floral notes, most rather synthetic, that never came together for me. The citrus dies off in the drydown and the scent becomes a ho-hum mix of sandalwood and roses. The best feature of this fragrance is the price–it is very cheap. As they say, you get what you pay for.
Life is too short to wear boring scents just to save a few bucks. Better to invest more and reap a better olfactory return.
    Bottom line: Avoid.

Like almost everyone else, I got this cheaply. I am pleased I purchased it as it is quite a decent fragrance for the price. From the outset it reminds me of YSL pour Homme, though it is somewhat weaker and less tenacious. It is really quite old fashioned and this belies the bottle itself, which makes it look like it should be a really ‘out there’ fragrance.

Smell is outdated and not very masculine. Bought on clearance a while ago. Will only wear on odd occasion now. May have been a popular trendy smell in the 90s, but passe now.

I bought this about 12 months ago, sprayed it on….Man!!! The first picture I got was my Grandfather, wearing his spotted pullover and pipe in his mouth. I can remember him smelling exactly like Colors de Benetton. I gave it to him a few months after and would you know it, he told me that it’s his favourite fragrance.

This is the scent of my high school years in the 80’s – back when I tried as hard as I could to be as “different” as possible. My look was inspired by Benetton ads and Robert Smith of The Cure – and my fragrances were few and rudimentary for the time, but advanced, compared to my peers.
This cypress and citrus medley instantly recalls to mind multiple Swatch watches on both arms, layered & asymmetrical garments (and haircuts) with bold prints, hair dye and MTV (back when it actually featured videos).
Sadly, this scent has become quite dated, even though it’s still a very good composition – it’s just a product of its time. I’ve kept a bottle of this over the years and, while I don’t wear it often, I’ll wear it at home while watching “Sixteen Candles” or “Pretty in Pink” and remember what it was like to be a young, rebellious and stylish product of the 80’s. It’s a memory in a bottle – and I’ll always love it.

I received a bottle of this cologne in the early 90’s as a gift. I tried very much to enjoy the scent, but had a hard time doing so.
I think my disappointment had two aspects: First, I’d hoped that the scent was going to be something as crazy and irreverent as their ads and general philosophy. Of course that wasn’t the case.
Secondly, the smell is just plain ordinary. It says ‘aftershave’ more than anything else. I remember that my father, who likes traditional and strong, manly scents really enjoyed this cologne, so I think I passed it on to him.
The list of notes would (intellectually) make this sound like a great, rich, well-balanced cologne, but there is an overpowering lavender/pine couplet that just never leaves and never dries down. It’s like any essential oil – a bit is beautiful, too much is a headache. The bottom notes never really come to the surface, or they’re masked by lavender and are impossible to spot.
This is a good example of how the sum of the parts is actually less than the whole. I would prefer Brut over Colors Benetton de Men

I lucked out, and just bought a 1.7 of the original in the black bottle. There is a huge difference between frags and notes. The vintage has very subtle citrus in the top, but it is mainly a sandalwood and vetiver woody frag with a little amber maybe. I was very very pleasantly surprised. It is not a great fragrance, but for those of you who like sandalwood, I would check this out for the price. I would and will definitely wear this. Creamy and woody and very soothing. Score!

Blind bought this for ten bucks. Do I regret it? Somewhat- it is a mature smelling chypre, and definitely for Winter weather. I bought it during the sweltering heat, so I have yet to experience it in the Fall/Winter. It smells pleasant when it’s subtle, like a grandpa or uncle, but it’s not for me. It has a strange bottle; not anything like the scent. I might use this as a carpet or upholstry spray if it doesn’t work out for me. But for ten dollars I don’t really care, try it for yourselves if you can even find a bottle. It really reminds me of Jo Malone’s Grapefruit, without the tartness.

The original one was in a black bottle, it was much better, less citrus-y and very long lasting.

the notes in this concoction come out very woody-leathery and spicy, the bottle looks as if intended for the young crowd, but when i smell it on my skin, it can definitely be worn by a middle aged man like my self, and i’m 44. nice indeed.ciao.

I have had this fragrance in my collection since late 80’s. It is a little overpowering for me, but still a nice fragrance to wear in cold weather. It is a strong sandalwood, amber & patchouli scent with some citrus, slight floral mixed with it.
