Description

A unique and elegant creation born from the innovative union of two olfactive themes with strong personalities: the fresh, vibrant notes of Colonia and the warm, deep notes of Agarwood. A charismatic and intensely masculine fragrance.

Colonia Oud by Acqua di Parma is a Oriental Woody fragrance for men. Colonia Oud was launched in 2012. Top notes are italian orange and calabrian bergamot; middle notes are amyris, coriander and agarwood (oud); base notes are sandalwood, leather, musk, atlas cedar and indonesian patchouli leaf.

It is an unparalleled fragrance. Acqua di Parma colony Oud leaves its mark. The sign of that warm and at the same time sparkling trail. Have you ever smelled the freshly polished wood with a brush? It is a fantastic creation!

This is a good oud scent. Phenomenally fresh. Citric ,woody and dirty. I mean its very good compared to how other brands do it, but this more for a Man thats 40 and Up, or maybe any one that is well dressed. Its Fresher than what I’m use to, not overly strong. Its polished, refined, and sophisticated, I give it that. I’ll stick with Jo Malone’s Oud and Bergamot, its more tune for the younger generation.

After my 100ml bottle ran dry I picked up 180ml thinking I’m covered. However I noticed a difference upon spraying. I got the last spray or 2 out of my old bottle and did a side by side with the new one..and to my dismay it’s been reformulated. Clearly they are both similar but the new formulation lacks the freshness of the old. The leather in the new one is slightly more creaky with the toned down freshness. I subsequently returned the bottle. My advice get a batch code with 6/7 digits ignore the 4 digit ones which are the new formulation. The aesthetics have also changed ever so slightly in bottle cap colour and darkness of the glass giving away also new formulation.

    Barbershop Oud.
Ever present, a slightly feral/fecal oud transforms soft, powdery leather and juicy bergamot. There’s an underlying clean, barbershop vibe that fits the lineage of the brand nicely. Rich and undeniably sexy.

I’m glad I didn’t blind buy this – even though I’m a big AdP fan.
On paper this fragrance smells of dominant citrus notes and on my skin I really only get old leathery notes and not much Oud at all… classic top quality AdP ingredients, however, and Colonia Oud remains strong on my skin even after I try to wash it off.
Great if you like leathery fragrances but not so much if you seek Oud.

I have usually not had good experiences with ADP fragrances before prmarily because of longevity issues. But this baby changes it all wow! I love the scent, the dry down and the longevity and am considering switching to this as my all weather signature scent! It’s a stunner and although I never wear scents for compliments this one got quite a few in the 3 days that I have owned it.
A must have for the fine mature gentleman connoisseur amongst you.

    Aventus killer.
Finally an Acqua Di Parma I’ll be happy to wear! Being Italian I’ve always wanted to have at least one in collection but so far nothing from the Colonia line had worked for me, although the scents are gorgeous they turn out too soapy, flowery and granmotherish.
This one is rather PERFECT. Elegant, fresh but deep, refined, unique, sexy (the first sexy scent I smell from ADP) and a KING OF VERSATILITY! The more I smell it and the more I can imagine me wearing it in EVERY… I repeat because it’s quite rare… E-V-E-R-Y kind of weather, season, time of the day or night, context or occasion.
The only fragrance it reminds me of JUST A LITTLE BIT is Zoologist Rhinoceros, but without the booze and that Vicks Vaporub feel that I found really weird and hard to wear.
It can be a signature scent without any problem whatsoever.
10 out of 10 fragrance, one of the best ever smelled. And can I say something surely unpopular: it’s an Aventus killer. I don’t mean it smells similar, it doesn’t, but can serve exactly the same purposes perfectly, it’s niche quality too and way less expensive.

It’s an EdC indeed because after 2 hours all the initial complexity (which I love) is gone.
What remains – sticking out like a sore thumb – is a single aroma chemical. It reminds of isopropyl alcohol, maybe by some perceived as “medicinal”. Unfortunately that one note lasts well beyond the 8 hour mark.
Only a fool would expect actual oud oil in this but some form of oud accord would have been nice. In conclusion AdP Oud is about as much about oud as is WD40.
For a seriously crafted scent, consider a look at what Heeley has to offer.

WOW! Well crafted and extremely balanced from start to finish. Great longevity and sillage. The most unique Oud fragrance I own or have tried. It has the AdP dna for sure but the juice is so much more than the usual. Nice citrus with spice with a soapy type oud and musk combination with hints of leather. Exceptional IMO. A must have. Full bottle worthy. If you find this juice in your price range grab it up. Enjoy!

This is a very nice oud fragrance and will work year-round including summers. It is a fresh take on oud and smells mainly of citruses (mostly bergamot and orange to my nose) along with a sweet Western style oud with leather nuances. It is very fresh, and is one of the best Acqua di Parma fragrances (second only to Colonia Club, which is my favourite). Sillave however is soft on my skin while longevity is good.

Fragrance -Colonia Oud Acqua di Parma
    Bottle from – 2016
In my opinion, this fragrance is one of the best oud-leather combo on the planet.
Colonia Oud opens on my skin with a fresh, elegant, clean and citrusy oud with dominant bergamot and with a hint of spicy, green and a bit woody and resinous coriander laying on top of a fine leather.
Soon enough, during mid development, coriander becomes stronger, more spicy and more woody with a strong presence of clean oud and fine leather and with a nice touch of a bit rich, woody, balsamic and well-known fixative amyris(amyris-often referred to as West Indian Sandalwood, due to its similar aroma- it is a practical, less expensive alternative to Sandalwood essential oil).I can detect a hint of divine rose, but it’s not listed in the notes.
This all leads into a woody, leathery, musky,a bit dry and oudy base with dominant oud, leather and cedar and with a wisper of musk, sandalwood and a bit earthy patchouli.
It has some similarities to Colonia Leather by Acqua di Parma.
    Longevity – 10/10(10+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 9/10(heavy projection and silage for the first 3-4 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent’s evolution)
Weather -For more or less any time of year.I personally wouldn’t wear this on a really hot summer days.
    Age – 26+
    Compliments – 8/10
    Scent – 10/10
Main notes according to me – oud, leather, coriander, amyris, cedar, bergamot.
The drydown is woody, leathery, musky,a bit dry and oudy and I get some -oud,leather,musk,sandalwood and patchouli.
    Emotions – sophisticated,classy,refined,profound,elegant, distinguished.
Occasion -Perfect for special occasions, life defining moments, formal and semi-formal events.
This is the scent of a distinguished gentleman.

Sold my Colonia Intensa oud bottle last year and bought a bottle of Colonia oud for a reasonable price and what can I say. I did like colonia intensa a lot but I thought it was too good to use in school or at work and I never really used it except on one wedding in a relatively warm autumn evening (not the best time as it was a winter scent). I was kinda missing the luxury smell of colonia intensa and I got an opportunity to buy a bottle of colonia oud (very similar to intensa according to fragrantica) and to my surprice, it is identical to colonia intensa oud. I dont feel any difference at all. The oud is really nice and modern with some minty notes.
    Scent: 9/10
    Projection: 9/10
    Longevity: 8/10

Contrary to most reviews there is a lot of oud in here it’s unwearable for someone who despises oud.

Another winner from AdP. Colonia Oud has a nice citrus/woody opening, then gets pretty linear with the oud and leather with the orange faintly in the background. Although the oud is definitely present throughout, I was really surprised with how dominant the leather is. You could almost call it a leather fragrance with oud in it. Regardless, they both share the main stage while the other notes take a back seat. For a cologne concentration, this performs really well, more like an EDT so don’t worry about longevity. Overall, it’s one of the best and easy to wear oud fragrances I’ve worn.

This Fragrance is simply amazing! The best Oud Fragrance money can buy and it lasts forever, The Dry Down is pure mystical magic, Perfect fall/winter evening scent & My girlfriend Loves it. 3 sprays of this bad boy and you’re good to go.

Why is there no rose note listed? It is the most forward note. Am I nuts? This smells a lot like Zegana’s oud with a bit less rose. Also, very similar to the Guerlain Oud that just came out. It does have ridiculously long longevity. I’m sitting here at least 14 hours after I put it on this morning and it is still going strong.

    This is a royal scent.
One of the best smelling fragrances ever that I have tried. Beautiful, noble, so sophisticated and luxurious.
I second the below comment by @chillzz1230 “Hands down best Oud. Nothing comes close. Pure magic in a bottle.”
The lightest, softest and most wearable oud touch with amazing citruses and woods.
Extremely better than Creed Royal Oud in my opinion although I am a Creed Fan.
Impossible to be disliked. If you find it discounted go blind buy and you will never regret.
    Great longevity and projection.
One disadvantage though is that I detect ambroxan (not listed) in the drydown which I am not really a big fan of.

I purchased a 5ml miniature of this in a lovely little satin lined box for my other half, it was awful on him, not to be deterred I tried some , well what a powerhouse this one is , I sort of liked it but it was far too masculine , it’s been sitting around for a good year as I couldn’t seem to tame this beast down, last week I received a 6ml decant of the original body shop vanilla oil, first I applied a drop of the beast on my wrist followed by the vanilla oil , no , the beast took over, today I applied the vanilla oil to my wrist first then a tiny bit of the beast , well bingo, it smells divine, 4 hours later and it’s still like I just applied it, that’s going some for me as my skin seems to eat perfume, even the heady ones don’t last well on me, so pleased I kept it .

Foram 0,5 ml de puro prazer olfativo com a amostra que ganhei.
Marcante, intenso e muito presente porem sem ser indiscreto.
    Tem permanência residual muito interessante.
Difícil de achar por aqui, Brasil.

What makes this frag really great is the marvelous balance here between oud and amyris (torchwood oil), modulated by the leathery base. It softens the otherwise somewhat violent agarwood notes while respecting all the dimensions of this oud’s outstanding scent.

  26. :

For me, this fragrance is one of the best oud base scents I’ver ever smelled!
It starts with a nice juicy citrucy note with some woods in the back and 5/10 min later the oud starts to take place to be the main character of this beautiful fragrance.
It’s a very clean, a bit fresh and elegant oud, very well blended with a leather accord, which gives the scent more warmth and depth.
    10/10!

Buddy of mine wanted to go fragrance shopping. We went to all the major stores blommys, saks, and bergdorf in nyc. Fast forward 100 fragrances smelled later and my friend decided to buy intoxicated by killian, it smelled really good however not as good as good as colonia oud I have to say this is the best oud i have ever smelled better than royal oud, TF oud wood or oud mineral this blows it out of the water i have to get this i have a decent collection and i have to buy this. When you first spray this it fills the air then settles to a beautiful leather oud scent i cant explain how good this is definitely an A++++

This has one of the best opennings I’ve experienced in a long time.
I will be ordering a bottle as soon as I finish my review.
    Great first impression!
Some have said they can’t wait for the citrus to settle? I think they are great in the opening, well blended with the darker notes, and you get such an enjoyable burst of contrasts.
I like the smell of a strong oud, but sometimes they can be too heavy, this is bright and wearable, a daily driver someone described it on YouTube.
Atelier Colognes have a philosophy of making their fragrances fresh and cologne like, even their heavier frags like Oud Saphir. This also still has the original Colonia Intensa cologne freshness, with a vague synthetic oud and leather. It does not smell of high quality notes like TF Oud Wood, but they crafted a very pleasant and wearable fresh oud frag.
I am selling my M-7, to get a bottle of this. I have M-7 Fresh also, this is warmer darker, smoother than M-7 Fresh, but it’s fresher and fruitier than M-7. M7 is a much better fragrance, a true oud, but I am more into fresher frags now.
Some Oud lovers I heard say this is their #1 Oud, or top 3. After Creed Royal Oud, this is my #2. TF Oud Wood is richer, and amazing scent, but it’s not nearly as wearable, comfortable as Acqua di Parma Oud.
This wears like a rich cologne or reminds me of a fougere, yet it has those beautiful darker notes of oud and leather.
There are some slightly sweet woody notes, maybe the Elemi resin ( tourchwood).
There is a bit of powderiness to it, I don’t like powder, but it’s nice here, just makes it soft and ads to the wearability.
PS: On second thought, I may not get this. The opening burst of notes was great, but then it quiets down too much, and becomes more of a nice aromatic. So performance and quality of notes not too high. This is only cologne strength, not edt or edp.
Well I did find a good deal and pulled the trigger, it is very wearable and pleasant. Not much oud though, once you get past the openning, it’s more of a soft leather, with warm and fresh spiciness, citrus.
Projection is softly moderate, longevity average.
The Intensa Oud is not more intense, it is the same frag.
This is over priced for what you get performance wise. I guess I’m used to finding better discounts, this is not discounted much. It should be around $100 for what you get.
For the great scent alone it’s worth a bit more.
PS: I ended up selling my bottle after a few day. I think it’s over hyped, not much oud, or leather that you can pick out,
    an indistinct synthetic mishmosh.
I purchased Oud Saphir, a high quality fresh Oud and leather frag. It’s discounted from $250 retail for $108. on Amazon.
    Rating: 7/10
    God bless John 3:16

One of my favourite. The opening is citrus with the woody notes in the background. This smell is most likely linear. In the base is musk and leather . Leather is not dominant here , only a supplement to rich and deep oud mixed with amyris. Love this so much, using with so much pleasure!

I remember when I was sampling all the fragrances from parma @ bloomingdales the one that stood out for me from this line was the oud intensa, ie more expensive version of this, but I was given a small sample this fragrance instead.
It smells quite nice. The scent is masculine and it has an oud scent that is reminiscent of Royal Oud from creed.
In a nut shell… this fragrance makes me appreciate royal oud for its strong scent, good sillage, and excellent longevity much more.
This is a pass for me but I want to try the intense version, I wish I had a sample of it.

First _ I LOVE this house. Nice opening and short middle –but the dry-down is just too BLUNT. Oud needs a support team (see: TOM FORD’s Oud Wood). Smells like old antique furniture in a dry basement.

  34. :

A masterpiece. Hands down my favorite men’s Acqua di Parma fragrance. The dry down after a full day’s wear is utterly delicious. The citrus and musk is so skillfully blended that it allows the oud to take center stage.

    Oud, where is the oud?
I think this was named by the same person who named Royal Oud from Creed, the latter having a tad bit more of oud than this one
Update: there’s faint oud in the drydown, but I still don’t see this marketed at oud lovers, there’s about a million oud perfumes and oils that have more oud, and you can actually get some real oud for the same price.
I’m not a fan of this one at all

I LOVE this one. It smells like what I imagine an old world aristocrats office smells like. I don’t want to share it with you savages 😉
this is fantastic for cooler nights and is beastly so I go light on the trigger. a little dab will do ya.

Pure magic, I find this fragrance gets better as the day goes on. My skin does not do well with most fragrances I use ending in poor longevity, but not this powerhouse! Di Parma Colonia Oud screams money and class.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

It might be just my decant though, because I am not getting the beast performance every one here boast about. To me, its just an eau de cologne. Its not bad, its a very safe, day time, office friendly scent. Lately I have been getting a lot of weird looks at the office, ever since I started wearing more… creative type of frags such as Oud Ispahan and Jubilation 25, I think its time to dial back a little bit.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

In a way , it smells really strange, but not too invasive. No soap I’ve ever had smelled like this. There is a rose undertone to it and that goes on and on, so if you’re not into rose as a guy, you’ll struggle. Yes, I get the leathery scent as well, and that is quite nice. The combination is intriguing. I will definitely wear it more. It does not by far smell cheap alcohol and it does not deteriorate to something unrecognizable over time. I think it stays pretty much the same and that is good. Was it worth the money? I say yes to that. You’ll get a fine and distinct fragrance with the longevity of Methuselah.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

Disappointing. I was expecting more leathery oud to go with the citrus. In the end its just a soapy clean concoction, ok for office use.

When I read reviews about it and oud fragrances review, I mush interest for purchase oud fragrances. I also use oud fragrances which made in Saudia Arabia, but when i use this item more interesting only 1 or 2 sprays much more for day and long lasting. nose behind this fragrances more sniff like and like for want to smell.
Great fragrance specially for special occasion, but this fragrance is more costly and not affordable for every person and not available in every shop. specially demand i can be purchase.
I impressed by this perfume and much like it. I honestly write for if u like oud can purchase it. more impressed and most remarkable personality perfume. Long lasting is good more than on my skin 12 hours intense smell on about 6 hours and other on more than 8 hours.
    Top fragrance.

Many are lukewarm about this juice, as it seems that anytime a house these days prints the word ‘Oud’ on a bottle the chips are not stacked in favor of the house for a welcome reception. The word ‘Oud’ is clearly overused by the industry as a whole, but that is the topic of another post.
The opening of bergamot and orange peel are the primary kicker here and follow this all the way to dry down. ADP do the bergamot orange peel dance very well, all be it in a straight forward manner. Any ‘Oud’, whatever this rather vague word means, is to be found in a smoky backdrop that informs the orange peel; supports it I suppose in a most lazy sort of way. I use this liberally during the summer months, as i find this scent just forward enough to present a certitude that I find missing from most, if not all, aquatics or citrus bombs that littler the market. Interchange one for another these days, but I digress.
Sample first, as with everything, but for those with a nose towards the woody side of scent this juice has legs. Bottle worthy in fact.
Longevity as a skin scent is strong. I have very dry skin and get a full eight hours. Projection is minimal which during the summer I find is preferable.

Why does Fragrantica have two different pages for the same fragrance with simply a name change?
    Come on now..
Anyways, this is a fantastic fragrance! Strong as hell, and unique. It’s not the typical rose/oud – this is different! And it’s delicious. One of my favorite fragrances.
Highly recommended to at least check it out!
