such a lovely cozy scent. of all the tocca range, i find colette to be the least conventional and quietly independent, not unlike her author namesake (even if she *does* indeed echo gypsy water, which she does; i prefer colette). for me, it’s all about the sharp lemon and juniper softened substantially by the creamy vanilla and sandalwood; i imagine the wearer sitting at a window looking onto a cold grey day, contemplating their next endeavor. the lemon and juniper were, in fact, both revelatory for me; i started wearing colette right as i discovered lady grey tea (which uses lemon rather than bergamot), both of which contributed toward a very different experience of lemon ever since (it’s not sour in either of these, gimme more!). as for the juniper, i realized it was the common thread through many of my then favorites-of-the-moment: in addition to colette there was odin 01, histories de parfums 1899 hemingway, byredo 1996. juniper is an amazing note–it can take the most overtly feminine fragrance and give it an herbaceous edge that turns it (even 1996, i’d say) into something decidedly unisex. i used to bring my bottle into work where my coworker would spray it on himself, it was delightful on him.
i do not get anything overtly floral, though it’s often described as such. i have a difficult relationship to violet but get along with it very well as it appears in colette.
    she’s gentle but all knowing.

After reading many of the reviews, I decided to buy a trial size of Collette. I was so hoping for the citrus/sweet with a warm dry down. NONE of this happened for me. When I first applied the scent, it smelled harsh then a little powdery. I did not get any citrus notes. As I let it sit on my wrist, it went from bad to worse. There was a sour note, and a few hours later I smelled like men’s cheap after shave. I was so hopeful for this one, but I am so disappointed. 🙁

A nice woody citrus vanilla scent with a little powder. The lemon, bergamot and juniper give it a bit of a gin and tonic kind of feel especially at the opening, then it settles into a nice zesty yet powdery woody vanilla. This one grew on me as it’s relatively understated yet elegant and easy to wear. It has soft projection and lasts several hours on my skin. Very nice.

I remember I tried this MANY years ago, and finally just recently committed to a Full bottle after I had tested Byredo’s “Gypsy Water”, and knew I wanted something with ~a similar feeling~, but with better performance and a more manageable pricetag.
I know these two scents are compared often, but there are multiple differences – I prefer Colette.
Byredo Gypsy Water: On my skin, Gypsy water is thicker, more centered around the wood notes, more easily considered a traditional “unisex” fragrance, more crisp and hinting at ‘earthy’ as a vibe. Very close to the skin. While it starts out with that burst of citrus sweetness, the woody drydown is what makes up 90% of this frag’s performance.
Colette: On my skin, Colette retains the sweetness of lemon and vanilla (mimicking similar DNA to how Creed ‘Sublime Vanille’ wears on me), in a MUCH more creamy and slightly powdery way – thankfully, almost no wood notes wear through in the drydown. The delicious traditionally “unisex” qualities are more fleeting in Colette, it wears almost as the reverse to Gypsy water’s drydown.
I love how soft and cozy this scent is – dreamy and cashmere. Nothing shrill, all things familiar. A big ol’ hug. Vanilla done in such a casual, refined, and non-gourmand way. I’m glad we are finally together!

I had a sample of Byredo Gypsy Water and fell in love with it but didn’t want to pay the price. I saw many comments that said to try Collette which I do find similar, but a bit lacking of something that I love in Gypsy Water. I have a rollerball of Lavanila’s Vanilla Grapefruit cologne. I find that if I spray Collette and follow it with a dab of the Vanilla Grapefruit, it seems almost identical to Gypsy Water, enough to satisfy me. So while I like Collette on its own, with the dab of Vanilla Grapefruit, it’s smells just divine to me. A soft, comforting bedtime scent.
Also, I find the projection and staying power of this combo not fantastic, but better than Gypsy Water
1/19/18 been experimenting a bit more. Use Jo Malone body cream of Wild Bluebell as a base, spray on Tocca Collette then dab on Lavanila’s Grapefruit Vanilla rollerball before bed. Pure heaven

Feminine leaning but I wear this and mixed with my body chemistry it doesn’t smell out of place on me (at least I don’t think so haha). Warm, moody, personal, this is a soft, beautiful fragrance.
Colette, Gypsy Water, and Commodity Gold are all closely related (and I’ve tried all three). GW is nice but I certainly wouldn’t pay the high price when Colette and Gold exist. Colette is very similar to Gypsy Water but seems to have a bit more lemon and about the same longevity. Gold is the strongest of the three, but something about Gold reminds me of Play-Doh. Very odd but there is something about that scent that takes an odd turn, at least on my skin.
Colette after trying all 3 is the best of the bunch and it’s nice when you don’t want to wear something that screams… Colette is a quieter, contemplative… very nice. Got mine on sale at Anthropologie.

Recently found a rollerball at tj maxx and thought I would give it a try. Put some on the back of my hand before I went out the door to go to work. Picked up a bit of citrus. By the time I got to work it had turned into a beautiful creamy scent. Couldn’t stop sniffing my hand. Yum. now want a full size spray.

My favorite of the 8 Tocca perfumes in the Passport Collection sample set is definitely Colette.
The scent starts with a blast of citrus, mainly lemon and a bit of bergamot. Very fresh, but already with some warmth and sweetness.
In the heart developes a scent of delicious lemon cake mixed with smoky insense, sandalwood and juniper. There is also some violet, which is not among my favorite notes in general, but gives a nice powdery edge and doesn’t dominate in Colette. I wouldn’t have put this in a violet colored bottle, rather a light yellow/golden one. The fragrance is beautifully warm and cozy.
The base is a powdery vanilla with amber and still a hint of freshness.
I don’t know Gypsy Water yet, so I can’t compare these two and Colette is quite unique and special to me. More than I would have thought in the first moment. A smoky lemon gourmand.
It’s a soft, but not too weak perfume with normal to good lasting power.

Beautiful fragrance, my favorite out of the few Tocca fragrances I’ve tried so far (would love to try more!!). The lemony opening comes on a little strong, but the drydown is soft and comforting. The violet, citrus, and vanilla notes seem to be the most prominent on me. This perfume has definitely got a slightly masculine undertone to it, but I think that adds to the feminine intrigue that this fragrance portrays! I can attest to the reviews describing the smell of Colette as lemon bars or lemon pound cake. Very sensual and inviting. I only wish she projected a bit more and lasted longer because of how beautiful, creamy, powdery, and tart she is.

A lovely, light, clean, feminine fragrance that’s perfect for when you want to spray yourself with something pretty as part of your toilette (been reading those 19th-century novels again), but not smell like you have perfume on later. I probably just smell like I used some very nice soap. Starts off more citrusy, then white floral with violets. I get the amber and vanilla in the base notes but it’s still powdery and gentle. I wish it were a bit more woodsy/earthy/dirty at the end, but–just look at the bottle! Clearly that’s not what Tocca was going for. Very pretty, and about as girly & floral as I, a non-girly non-floral person, want to go, but I’m glad to have something like this in my wardrobe.

It smells like key lime pie! Also I got a little masculine touch in it. It’s not bad it’s just different. Not everyone can wear it. I’m still not sure about it. Good thing is I just had a scentbird “sampler” of it. I like it pretty much just not sure yet if it’s for me.

I love this perfume! Just not on me.
Did makeup for a beautiful friend for her wedding. She was looking for a wedding fragrance that was special and different from her usual Burberry Brit. I went looking in my collection to see anything she could test – I had a small rollerball of this from a Tocca set I had purchased but hadn’t worn. I figured enough of the notes were similar – citrus, amber, vanilla – that it might appeal.
She sniffed this and absolutely fell in love. Perhaps like her husband to be, it seems she knew right away that THIS was the one.
I can’t say that I know how this perfume smelled to her, but I do know that it smelled very much bridal to me. Sexy but pure, refined and feminine, soft but determined. I loved the way this smelled on her, and I loved the way she looked on her wedding day.
I ended up buying her a small bottle that I was able to gift to her on the morning of her wedding. I hope she’ll be able to wear it on special occasions and be brought back to that beautiful Virginia country wedding!

If you like Gypsy Water but don’t like the price tag, check this one out – I find it almost identical. It’s surprisingly complex, warm, comforting, and well balanced. A good find!

First few minutes are lemony and then changes to warm, musky and comforting.
I wear this EVERY DAY to bed and for days I’m just lounging at home.

Colette is sweet, clean and nice; a powdery musk at heart. The lemon and vanilla blend almost perfectly with some warmth from the amber to give an effect of freshly baked lemon bars. The pine and juniper never appear on me. I sorta wish they did, she might’ve been an actual like. I’ve never really preferred smelling like a bake shop and that’s what Colette is on me. Colette has the Tocca typical light skin sillage and about 4-5 hours of wear time.

I just recently discovered Colette and it has quickly became a favorite. Sweet and innocent, it reminds me very much of the character Constance Bennett plays in one of my favorite oldies, Sin Takes A Holiday. She is a bit of a church mouse and sits at her vanity in her Parisian apartment dreaming of becoming the lady of Paris, every man’s dream, the beautiful seductress.
She is smart and shy, a dreamer, with the heart of Shalimar, sweet and powdery thanks to the nostalgic violets, with a fresh airy approach. I really love this and it really suits me well. I can imagine sitting wearing this watching my favorite black and whites this winter. It sits close to the skin and I adore the sweet little 20ml bottle in the fairytale book presentation I got…just lovely

Fragrance Review For Colette By Tocca
    Top Notes
    Bergamot Lemon Mandarin Juniper Berry
    Middle Notes
    Jasmine Pink Pepper Violet Cyclamen
    Base Notes
Sandalwood Cedar Wood Amber Incense Vanilla Pine Needles Musk
Colette is a calm fragrance of an intellectual French girl, who drinks chamomile teas, hardly does any real work other than cultivating and maintaining her cottage which she inherited from her family, has a gorgeous garden, and enjoys her solitude and she is seen in town at the market place buying flower seeds. She is a retired botanist. She lives at the edge of a forest which she often wanders into.
When I first smelled this fragrance I was so enchanted by it. It suits my personality. It opens with light citrus scents, of which the natural bergamot and mandarin are most noticeable. Still, this is not too citrusy and in fact the juniper berries, evocative of a forest where berries grow, is what most jumps out at me. It’s interesting to me how the flowers are there but it’s more about the woods. It has a rustic, rural air, like we’re out in the South of France far from Paris. It’s a serene scent of being out in nature. Those citruses are only there to give it a freshness but the scent develops into what could be considered a men’s woodsy cologne. Nonetheless, because of the cyclamen and violet, it’s feminine as well. It’s absolutely unisex so whether you’re a guy or gal reading this review check out what you might like about this scent if you have to take the plunge and buy it blindly.
The juniper berries and woods combo I have experienced in men’s colognes. The cedar wood at the base often wafts up and you can smell the pine needles as well. It’s like being at summer camp where pine trees release their aroma. It also smells like walking inside a clean wooden cottage or cabin out in the forest. The flower that most stands out is the violet. It’s joined by jasmine petals and cyclamen, but these flowery scents are tethered to the ground by the woods. The incense is warm and evokes a fireplace, not actual incense, but like burning wood in a fireplace. As such it’s cozy and comfortable like actually sitting in front of a fire.
There’s a touch of musk that matches with the incense giving this scent a warmth and balsamic quality which is at variance with the fresh fruit opening. Then there’s a vanilla aroma, but it’s not a dessert nor vanilla ice cream. This is a dark burnt vanilla like the vanilla in Shalimar, not powdery but dark burnt vanilla. For me the last part of the fragrance where the woods are stronger and the incense is what gives this scent all the heft, sillage, longevity and appeal it needs. It’s such a beautiful fragrance. It’s romantic, peaceful.
I recommend this fragrance for both men and women. It’s an autumn fragrance. It smells just like when the summer has ended about a week or so ago and the fall is already in the air, the leaves are changing colors and you want to enjoy the change of scenery by going to the Poconos and get away from the city to enjoy nature. I love the fragrance it’s warm, floral and woodsy, and just so amazing. Please go out and get this fragrance!

My, this is lovely!! Out of the half dozen Tocca scents I’ve tried, this is my favourite. So powdery and warm but also quite bright, not at all heavy. Pretty violet but not too much, warm sandalwood and herby. Tocca scents aren’t utterly unique or heavy hitting. They are really nice though for those who want a pretty office or school friendly scent.

COLETTE is a delicate, poetic and almost melancholy fragrance that I find very appealing. On me, COLETTE starts with a flash of citrus which quickly changes to smokey violets. In awhile, the woody and spicy notes appear underneath. It’s not sweet and the vanilla is there but unobtrusive. It’s all very smooth and subtle and quiet, but not at all wimpy or boring. Something about the smokiness reminds me of autumn leaves, but it’s also lovely for spring and summer.
Although the sillage is on the soft side, the longevity is surprisingly good and I find that first applying a little unscented moisturizer helps the fragrance hang on longer. Warm weather also inspires this fragrance to bloom on the skin. I have the 0.5 oz size, but have a feeling I’ll be purchasing the large bottle soon.

This one is hard for me to describe. I can only say that I really like it. 🙂 I cannot distinguish any particular notes. This is one of the ONLY florals I have in my collection (I dislike florals!), and I wear it often. I think of it as my go-to scent when I want to feel pretty, feminine, naive, safe – along with Giulieta.

  23. :

A really nice fragrance. It was synthetic on my skin but I didn’t mind. It just smelled like a pretty, citrusy, woodsy, floral. Niether sharp nor warm. Just right, in the middle. Well balanced but boring

  24. :

Reminds me a bit of both Anais Anais and Noa, could easily be part of the Cacharel family, with the light citrus addition. I do catch the incense in this. Not a showstopper, but a nuzzler, and pleasant any season, any time of day.

  25. :

    3 out of 5

Colette is my signature scent and what people around me recognize as “what CuddlyCactus smells like.”
This perfume is very very feminine and just reminds me of reading a favorite book in the open bay window of your old victorian home, letting the breeze and the scent of flowers from your overgrown garden wash over you as you lounge. It’s peeling wallpaper from 100 years ago and a huge, dusty wooden bookshelf filled to bursting with old leather-bound tomes.
The opening is sweet and citrus-y, as people say. Compared to many scents I’ve tried, it is not as taxing on the senses as many citrus openings seem to be. The dry down to incense and vanilla and musk is what conjures the above imagery for me. It is so comfortable.
Regrettably, the silage, projection, and longevity are SO poor. It lasts 2 hours on my skin if I’m lucky and maybe 5 on my clothes if you smell closely. Such a shame– it’s really a lovely perfume, if not a bit un-unique. Ah well. I’ll continue to wear it for myself and for the person who is allowed close enough to enjoy it with me.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

On my skin it’s just a weak citrusy vanilla, gone after 5 min..

  27. :

    3 out of 5

Smells almost identical to Byredo’s Gypsy Water but with a stronger citrus opening. The best way I can describe Colette from application to dry down would be herbal, lemony freshness (natural lemon, no lemon pledge here whatsoever), then a creamy, warm but not gourmand vanilla with a touch of musk and maybe a whisp here and there of smokiness which on me deepens the longer I wear it, or the warmer my skin becomes. It’s a very well blended and delicate ‘your skin but better’ fragrance. Silage is soft and close to the skin, which normally is something I dislike in a fragrance because it makes me feel cheated, but not at all with Colette. There’s a mysterious charm to its olfactory whisper and difficult to place composition. Most people will have no clue what you’re wearing until they ask.

After buying the “Meet the Girls” set, this one (in addition to my ALL TIME favorite, Brigitte) was a total standout and a winner. So much so, that I bought the next size up in Colette. Sugar-lemon-violet is the hit I first get. And that’s a lovely combination. Not too sweet, because then the sandalwood comes in to mellow the lemon down. This is very unique and special; Tocca continues to wow me with the stories and scents of their brand. If you like violets, you must give this a try.

  29. :

The first forty minutes flicker through lemon shortbread cookies, violet-y sandalwood incense, and a fresh sort of powdery smell. The drydown is a very tenacious chemical greeny-amber note that I have smelled in other generic department store perfumes and greatly dislike. Overall: the top notes are briefly interesting, but not enough so to make up for a drydown that’s punching beneath its weight.

  30. :

I bought a sample based on the reviews here, and at first spray, I was intrigued. The initial blast was slightly floral and while I didn’t get any lemon, I thought it would be something I liked. Then I started getting wafts of something extremely familiar, but I couldn’t exactly place the memory… and it finally hit me! Burberry Classic, my Go-To scent throughout my college years! Warm and comforting, but a scent I outgrew long ago. I appreciate the nostalgia, but I do believe I’ll pass mine along.

Hellooooo, citrus! Haha this one is probably going to be my spring/summer scent. Well, one of them 😛 There’s this bakery in my city that used to make these little lemon hand pies, and this smells just like them! It’s a light, sugary sweet and simple perfume.

  32. :

On me, this lasts a very long time as in, it is still there the next day if you are very close. This is a wonderful scent. It is multifaceted; at one moment very nice and sweet like the girl next door. At other times it seems so rich, elegant, and womanly. And still others it is warm, sexy, inviting. What more can you ask from a perfume than to fit in all environments? My husband loves it on me, the kids always compliment only this one, my Mom and Mother-in-law think it is beautiful on me, and strangers (men and women) have asked what the delicious smell is.

this starts off a bit citrussy then becomes a powdery citrus. after being on the skin a few minutes it’s a violet-incense-vanilla, which is so so nice. then comes some sandalwood i think. this is a bit too soft for my tastes but i really like this scent, and it’s so comforting. i just wish it had more sillage and staying power. (though i realize tocca is generally like this, no?) other than that, no complaints.

  35. :

I’ve finally gotten my Autumn fragrance! Colette is a warm, powdery fragrance that is soft and non-threatening. It is comfort. At first I got a hint of lemon and violet. After a few minuets it was gone and I am left with a sugary-sandalwood-amber, which I love.
It is so quiet and natural. Perfect for days that are growing cooler and shorter. Works good outdoors, but I worry about bugs and bears getting enthralled by it too.
This scent does something strange that no other one does on me. When driving past a freshly mowed lawn, it seemed to take the cut grass smell and mix with it to create something incredibly beautiful. Then, it did it again with the smell of a running stream! My hubby noticed it too. It takes smells of your surroundings, especially natural ones, and improves on them.
I layered it with my Florabotanica and WOW!! I’m very glad that I got this. It’s about as close to perfect as it gets for me.

  36. :

Citrus, vanilla, and amber are the dominant players here, and together, they create a lovely, cuddly, and comforting scent. The lemony blast in the opening quickly settles down to a warm cloud of ambery vanilla goodness. The dry down is lemon vanilla custard. Fans of Burberry Brit will probably like this. It’s among my favorites of the Tocca line, along with Stella and Simone.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Probably the closest thing I have to a signature fragrance. I love everything about it, from the sweet lemon opening (the only one I’ve ever tried that didn’t smell like Febreeze), to the woody-amber base. It can work for any situation or any season. I’ve worn it to bonfire parties in the summer or work in the winter and gotten compliments at both.

  38. :

A lovely light amber with hints of soft woods and citrus nestled In bed of delicious warmth that cradles you til the very end. Reminds me a lot of Ambre des Merveilles without the allergy I get to that one. This could be the ‘anytime’ scent you just want to live in. It lays close to the skin, which is fine by me. I would love to cuddle up to this. One spray lasts 8 hours + on my skin.

  39. :

I got this on a whim in order to try it out, not thinking much of it. The first time I thought eh it’s alright, it’s pretty but nothing too special. I wore it a couple times and started realizing that I just kept coming back to it again and again and I fell in love. It’s my favorite at the moment. It’s a lovely floral that dries down to a comfy and warm floral that I just love. My boyfriend loved it from the beginning which is always a major plus (also want to smell divine for him)so this is almost perfect for me.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

I smell hints of citrus and similar notes like that of Pink Sugar when I first put it on. It is mingling nicely with some woody and musky undertones. Sometimes violet notes can be bitter, but not so as this dries down. I feel like it is missing something though. Like a major note in the heart is lacking. I can’t pinpoint it, but I feel this could be more sophisticated if there was something else to blend down.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

I have wanted this fragrance for years. I haven’t bought it yet because I can’t afford to. Anyway, this perfume is absolutely stunning. I have never been drawn to a fragrance as much as this one. It starts off citrusy and warm, and then leaves a beautiful vanilla musk on the skin. It definitely smells like a “skin” scent, meaning it isn’t obvious that you are wearing a fragrance, which I enjoy occasionally.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

I find that most amber heavy scents don’t work for me and Colette is no exception. It reminds me of Aerin Lauder’s Amber Musk, although thankfully much more delicate.
It’s a very sweet citrus at first, but only for a few seconds and then, on me, goes straight to the amber-vanilla phase. If I’m smelling cedar, I can’t tell. I get no pine elements at all.
Were I to wear it, I’d only do so in winter.
It smells good, but this kind of amber-vanilla scent tends to give me migraines. Not sure why I have such a hard time when others – like the Merveilles series – are just fine.
Update: it’s been an hour or so and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t figure out what it is about this type of amber that doesn’t work for me. I still can’t quite verbalize it, but I smell amber/vanilla/almond and it’s not overwhelming as much as constantly present. It’s heavy, creamy (or, given the almond I smell, marzipan like) and very, very sweet. Still not capturing it though. Argh.

  43. :

I was REALLY looking forward to trying this, but I should have known I wouldn’t have liked it since I also strongly dislike Fresh Vanilla Lemon by Lavanila, another one I was looking forward to trying. I guess I really just don’t like lemon-vanilla combinations in fragrances, which is odd because I LOVE lemon fragrances and I LOVE vanilla fragrances and I LOVE the smell of baked goods that are lemony-vanilla flavored (and I love Shalimar!).
So yeah… not for me, made me feel really nauseous. BUT if you like the idea of lemon, vanilla, and incense, this could be great to try!

Colette reminds me of the now discontinued KORS by Michael Kors which I LOVED. I am still in mourning for it having been taken off the market some years ago.

  45. :

A very interesting scent at first I get a pine tree scent which fades. The dry down is nice and has a good longevity. I get compliments when I wear it so its a thumbs up for me !

  46. :

The opening of this reminded me a little of the heart of Prada’s Infusion d’Iris. Fresh citrus, incense, musk and vanilla is all I get. Colette is fairly linear and completely inoffensive. It wears close to the skin and imparts an overall warm effect. Nice and clean smelling, but nothing that stands out in the crowd.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

The lemon is instantly softened by the vanilla, not sharp at all. Very warm and cozy, the perfect citrus for winter. The other citruses come in and juniper is very balancing and helps keep it from being too sweet. Amazingly well balanced composition.

  48. :

Comfort in a bottle. Colette wraps her arms around you oh so gently, and makes you feel safe. No matter what I wear during the day, I wear Colette to bed. Just can’t sleep without her.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

I expected this to be really deep with citrus, jasmine and sandalwood – all my favorite notes! But alas vanilla takes over everything and smells powdery with a hint of jasmine.

  50. :

    4 out of 5

I’ve come to love Tocca scents. Colette comes on strong in the beginning with very citrusy notes but if you give it a bit it warms up(at least on me). I agree with other reviewers that the top notes fade really quickly(the mandarin hangs on a bit longer) but then comes the violet and jasmine and finishes off soft and powdery.
It is not as sophisticated as some of the others in the Tocca line . I think it is a good choice for a nice spring day. The sillage decreases leaving a trace of vanilla and musk.
Not a powerhouse fragrance, def.more on the subtle side but sweet and sexy up close in the end.

When i did try this and ask my hubby oppinion, he said i smell like middle-age men or like i drunk a lot of expensive alcohol and this is not women perfume. Well…i’m kinda agree with him.
I guess it smell like expensive men’s perfume.
For girl who like unisex or men’s perfume this one will be ideal.
I don’t see any vanilla in this(at last it not noticable vanilla maybe). I feel only pine-pine-pine and bergamot with citrus.
This smell like earl grey tea with lemon and mint candy(i feel mint in this perfume), when you drink it in pine forest, for me this best description of this perfume.
So natural smell and stay really long time!! This is long lasting (if use for hairs), but strong noticable only at first few hours, after this time for feel it need come closer.
This is only my imagine, you can see different in this perfume, i just share my feelings, that’s it.
Will buy more by Tocca, i like their natural smell, long lasting power and cute bottles(i’m girl, of course bottles important for me!hehehe). This one was be present, so smell a bit not fit me, but if put on pillow, i like to smell it, really nice one.

On my skin, it starts off as a sugary lemony scent, but not too sugary. When it starts to settle into the skin, a smokey, vanilla-y, musky scent comes forward and it smells DIVINE! I never thought I would like this fragrance as much as I do, but alas I am slightly obsessed. The bottle is adorable too.

Colette is the only scent by Tocca that I enjoy. Its feminine, soft, not at all offensive. A medium-sweet/creamy- the vanilla is noticeable, as well as the musk. I originally discovered this perfume after a co-worker wore a scarf of mine, and returned it smelling so pleasant! (Also proof of its longevity!)

Very light and sits close to the skin. At first, it is lemony and a bit soapy, very clean but not a hint of furniture polish. Then it settles into a very lovely soft scent of citrus, powdery notes, soft florals and the slightest hint of vanilla. This fragrance eeems to evolve from an almost unisex scent to pure feminine. I love the drydown. This is very, very light, however, and I agree with the other reviewers who say this fades away far too quickly.

I really like this scent. It’s great for every day; light, beautiful, soft and alluring. I enjoy the powdery/woody dry down as well. I just wish it lasted longer on my skin. I like it enough that I just re-apply, which is probably better than marinating in it and hoping it will last all day. I enjoy the Tocca line of scents and think that they are over-all very good.

Sweet.. with subtle vanilla… and that incense note is great!! Mixed with the musk, amber, vanilla and sandalwood, I would think it would be quite overpowering, but it’s not at all… it’s really quite soft.

Colette starts really clean, nearly transparent and reminds me of Blvgari pour Homme but a bit more citrusy (due to the bergamont) and less masculine; somehow it has this paper quality which makes me feel this perfume is bookish in a nice way.
Later on, the perfume gets a bit deeper and matures with some personality, like a wine. I can smell the peppercorn and violet and something like pages of an old book. All these are blended nicely.
The final dry down is vanilla-y in a really discreet fashion, nothing much, not too overly typical vanilla, not too woody, just a trace of faint un-sweetened non-cake-y woody vanilla.
Colette is a skin scent to me, subtle, quite, with a minimal sillage, much more idea as a skin scent than some floral or musky ones.

This is my favourite from the Tocca line, and the most unique one I would say. It’s dusty, musky, earthy and woody. It’s not sweet at all – in fact, this could easily be a unisex scent. The dry incense, musk, juniper and cedar are most prominent to me. Vanilla and sandalwood add a bit of smoothness. The lasting power has been much better in comparison to several of the other Tocca perfumes I sampled….9+ hours later and the scent is still on my skin from one spritz.
