I got this as a free sample with another purchase.
I thought I was picking up some balsamic resin, but none listed.
I think a very nice earthy vetiver is the main note. It’s a bit sweet, and quite rich. Surely a Fall and Winter fragrance.
I don’t know the price, but it smells like a quality niche fragrance.
It reminds me of Eldo Rien fragrance.

Great all around fragrance. Extremely versatile and elegant, yet can be worn casually as well. This is a perfect blend of all of my favorite notes. Parfum strength and can be worn year round. Grey Vetiver fans should like this.

All I can say IS SPECIAL!! Here’s my letter to Roads.
My name is RajuR. You can find me on the internet worldwide as “RaJuR real deep kool” I’m a music producer, artist, studio owner, fragrance reviewer, and a regular 9-5’er driving subway trains. I’ve been collecting fragrances for about, 30months. I own some of the best contributions from the best houses on the planet. I occasionally shop Barney’s and Neimans mostly for fragrances.
After purchasing the NEW Costume National SOUL, I was sent samples from my personal SA. I had seen Roads as a new product during research and discovery of something NEW and different to add to my collection that would change the game for me. It’s a constant process, fro indie houses like Brecourt and Floris, to well known houses like Xerjoff, Lelabo and Amouage which I own. They sent me Harmattan and Clockwork. I will say I didn’t “Feel” Harmattan. The Oud/Saffron combo was done by Xerjoff…Gao, and I didn’t care much for a dominant Saffron scent. Then there was Clockwork, which after checking the notes, I didn’t give a “Chance in H” because I DO NOT LIKE Citrus scents, of any blend.
Well, I’m about to order Clockwork from Neiman, OVER a previous decision to purchase Arquiste’s Anima Dulcis.
I now have Clockwork on my left had, and Dulcis on my right. I like the “Animalic feel I get from both, but NUTMEG???? WHAT??!!!! My Review of this fragrance will be prompt and swift when it arrives!!!. I WILL do a “First and Final” Impression soon after I send this email to you. It takes a LOT to get my attention when comes to fragrances. I KNOW what I want, and I KNOW when I’ve sniffd someting SPECIAL.
This my FRIENDS…..IS something Special. Thank my YOU, my SA for knowing my taste, and the Nose behind this line. I rarely give a “Designer” any chance in my “CAGE”. Few like, YSL Oud Absolu, Lalique Encre Noire, Costume National SOUL, and Narciso For HIM (Nosed By Kurkdjian) and the FEW in my 150+ flacon collection.
Thank again for your contribution. I appreciate it much. Because I represent the everyday working guy, the realest reviewer, the polarizing figure that I am speaks for itself. I’m TRUE to the game, I rarely, if EVER say I “LOVE” a fragrance as many do. I won’t say I LOVE this fragrance, But I will say…it’s something SPECIAL …..to me. And I’ll let everyone know SOON.

Run by Ryanair founder’s granddaughter Danielle Ryan, Roads is a new line of fragrances which strikes for its *trendy* aesthetic. The overall style of the brand seems very pop and even a tad *cheap* (both the bottles and packagings look like hair-products or, if you prefer, cosmetics more in general) and while most of them felt a bit dull and not completely accomplished, Clokwork was nice enough to deserve further exploration for me.
Clockwork opens with a blast of pepper and nutmeg. The initial effect is quite striking as this is probably the most heavy fragrance on both of these notes I’ve ever tried. The bone structure around which the fragrance evolves is a blend of balmy resins and vetiver while a restrained violet note remarks its presence throughout. Vanilla provides some sweetness starting from the early stages of the drydown and, to be honest, this is probably the only aspect I don’t like about this interesting composition.
Overall, I can’t say I’m completely sold on Clockwork (the sweetness ruined it for me) and, as much as I think it’s far from being a masterpiece, I also believe it might be worth of some attention from those who like modern twisted masculines.
    Rating: 6.5/10
