Mellulselia – :
Citrine is a lovely, gentle honeysuckle fragrance with hints of sweet pea on a base of mild sandalwood. It smells like flowers from nature, which is impressive and unique in current fragrance formulations. It used to be that perfume-lovers complained when notes smelled “synthetic”, but, I fear we’ve smelled synthetics for so long, we think perfumes are supposed to smell like assembly-line manufactured goods. Citrine, like all Sage Machado oils, hearkens back to days when perfume was an art form, and we wore fragrances as marks of our individuality.

Another perfume oil from Sage Machado, Citrine has a shiny soapy quality to it. I was trying to figure out what it smelled like and I realized that it bears some resemblance to the Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea fragrance. Citrine is nicer, however, and considerably less artificial smelling. The BBW scent is touch and go for me. Sometimes I like the lotion, but other times it is too overpowering.
Citrine does smell somewhat citrusy in the opening, but soon thereafter the musky-iris-sweet pea core comes to dominate. This would be a good choice for people who like to smell clean but not industrially so. Definitely better than most of the vat-produced abstract clean florals now available.
