Just like Pink Sugar, Chocolovers deserves to call itself gourmand in the literal sense of that word – I mean, it smells like a delicious chocolate hazelnut cake you want to eat this instant. I can’t understand why Aquolina discontinued this jewel. Yes, it’s not mature, it’s not elegant, but it’s beautiful, warm and cozy type of fragrance you’d wear simply because you want to keep that wonderful scent close to your nose all day long.

I have a bottle of this that I bought back in 2006. I haven’t used it much, as it was so delicious I was always “saving it for special occasions”. However, I sprayed a little this week and the scent has changed. It isn’t so chocolatey or orangey anymore but the hazelnut has increased a lot and it has become very nutty. This is certainly a very strong, gourmand scent.
I also have Comptoir Sud Pacifique Amour de Cacao and I prefer that over Chocolovers as the CSP has more vanilla and is sweeter.

This is so wonderful. Too bad they discontinued it. Smells like Nuttella, with orange peels and powdery musk!!! And it’s strong and sillage-heavy.
To have a better ideea: Angel Muse is not half as good as Chocolovers. And advice: If you like Muse, blind buy Chocolovers, it will knock your socks off.

My my this beauty smells like holiday time back when i was a kid & my mom would make sweets and bake pastries…haaaa (sigh)…wonderful blitz of Hazelnut and orange zest in the opening…it’s lovely and very dominant…But the hazelnut wins over all of the other notes…I keep getting a chocolate note, but there’s no chocolate note of any kind. It smells like Nutella & Rochelle chocolates…
I honestly went out and bought both of them to, just to sniff and to pig out on. Sigh…
If you love Gourmands and you like hazelnut base fragrance…This is for you!
I wanna go home and break out my food processor, and toss in hazelnuts, vanilla, nutmeg, brown sugar, coco powder, milk chocolate, salt & some olive oil… then make some home made waffle from scratch & smear on my homemade nutella on the waffle and go to town…Yum…Sorry having a fatboy flashback.
This is a happy, comforting…safe scent.
Perfect for cuddle time with your other half.
Wear this and go for a walk in central park or on the pier.
Over all must have in your collection.
I used six sprays…both wrist, back & front of my neck, chest and front of my shirt.
    Will I buy this again?…Yes.

This was my first gourmand from Aquolina because Pink Sugar didn’t cut it for me or do it for me nor did I classify it as a gourmand. This is. The bottle is so cute looks like a 1960’s design and kind of Lava Lamp like in a cylindrical bottle. The scent is not that of candy but a chocolate truffle. Smells of an expensive delicious European chocolate dessert in a bakery, like in Vienna or Salzburg. This has got to have an unlisted note of tuber which blends well with the chocolate scent and the hazelnut. The hazelnut is the prominent note but it has so many characteristics that are totally in the gourmand realm – chocolate, nut, sweet, creamy, buttery.
When you spray it on you the scent of citrus reaches your nose first which is unusual for a Pink Sugar fan because this is more fruity than gourmand as it opens. This is a fresh orange scent with a tart lemon or rather lemon merengue. A spiciness emerges quickly and there’s a soft hint of coriander and the floral note of green lily of the valley. I would not call this a floral nor ‘green’ but these notes do pop up and give it a shampoo effect. Very nice.
Eventually the scent, which is linear and evolves pretty fast, turns into the delicious aroma of gourmand hazelnut, tuber, chocolate butter cream and of course vanilla. Have you ever had a vanilla-and-chocolate dessert as in all rolled into one? This is exactly like vanilla on top of chocolate. Smells like those chocolate balls with vanilla cream.
This is mature not as girly or sugary as Pink Sugar. I would peg Pink Sugar as a cute girly fun innocent party perfume for a junior high kid but Chocolovers is more adult and though just as festive has a more serious nocturnal side. I am smelling something so beautiful and so sweetly captivating here. I’m so happy I found this on eBay. It might be discontinued but I’m not sure. I have a feeling that this was trying to compete with Pink Sugar and lost. But I prefer this. It’s absolutely amazing.
Downside is the short life it has, weak soft sillage; smells great but acts like a fragrance mist a la Victoria Secret fragrance mists that don’t take as long a time on your skin as you’d like. So this is all about spraying over and over again reapplying. I also wish they had supported these great notes of tuber chocolate vanilla hazelnut and citrus with stronger base notes of musk perhaps some woods or whatever it would take in a top middle note formula to give it more life and more time to evolve. But it’s not bad and I’m not complaining. Love it.

Managed to track down 2 bottles from an Italian discount site, well what can I say? It’s a beautiful creamy chocolate orange fragrance. It’s a gorgeous gourmande and I’m so happy I’ve got the two bottles. I got them for €10 each which was an absolute bargain 🙂 if you can test this please do as it’s a magnificent fragrance. I will use mine sparingly don’t want to run out.

a lovely marshmallowy sweet chocolatey scent with some boozy vanilla and some orange underlying it and some musk supporting it.

Although I’m a gourmand lover and Chocolovers is a nutty hot chocolate smell with slices of orange on top, I do have a hate/love relationship with it! I love the opening, and I also like it during moments of its lonnnngggggg -like 12 hours- life on my skin, but I hate to smell it up close. That way, it just smells synthetic and burnt and kind of too warm and sickening TBH. It gets to be worn in the winter, so hopefully it won’t be an issue for most people.
I personally rate this fragrance 6/10. For me, Chocolate Greedy is an obvious choice over this one but nevertheless, this is great value for the money if you like it, and I’m sure a lot of people do. 🙂

Smells like a mix between Orange Chocolate and Nutella. Was my go-to fragrance when I was 21 (in 2006). Too bad they discontinued. I kept the old bottle which still has a drop of the perfume in it. I don’t wear it anymore but I take it out occasionally to smell it. Been over 10 years and it still hasn’t turned stinky.

  12. :

Like the others said, this is not a chocolate perfume. It’s Nutella with a little coriander and a hint of orange peel. I’m sure there is a lot of patchouli too. I usually don’t like patchouli, but here it’s well blended and gives a nice smokey depth. Good and safe choice for gourmand lovers or child at heart grown ups, like me. I do not recommend to wear it on a date or in the office, because you cannot take someone seriously with a (totally perfect, lovely and truly adorable <3) scent like this.
I have Choco Musk too, but they are very different. Choco Musk smells like Kinder chocolate. No nutty notes at all.

I cannot EVEN believe Aquolina disc’d this GEM! Really?? Much better than any of their other fragrances IMO. I am not a huge fan of the Pink Sugar, but this is *Heaven*. I agree with the reviewer below. I just repurchased sealed, & it has not turned at all. The original bottle I had, had not turned. I put my new one in the fridge tho, so I can use it sparingly & it last longer.. This company has bumped their heads for not bringing this back! However, I will give you some that are similar.***Serendipity Serendipidous. Al Rehab Chock Musk.(The closest).. Demeter Dark Chocolate. Montale Chocolate Greedy. Cocoa Pink’s Marshmallow Hot Cocoa. CSP Amour de Cacao. I have all of these & can vouch you will like them if you like AC. SMH @ this company for not popping this out, at least at CHRISTMAS….danng!

By reading reviews I knew that I’m gonna love this but I had never seen it in local sites and shopes, today I saw it in a perfume shop(1 Oz for 45 bucks)and grabbed a bottle
I’m really shocked that there’s no coffee, cocoa or chocolate notes.it’s almost Identical to montale chocolate greedy, one of my favorite gourmands,I can get hazelnut chocolate blended with orange, cocoa and vanilla… It’s very delicious and a must have for gourmand lovers… Can’t believe why they have discontinued such a gem?!! It has unbelievable quality for it’s price, the heaven of all chocolovers… It’s an orangey Nutella, hmmm
Longevity and sillage are both very good, after 4 hours it still has very good sillage
Probably I’m gonna buy back ups because I want to always have it in my collection as I love montale which is more chocolatey and less orangey
It has a cute bottle however mine, has a dark yellowish juice. I think maybe because it’s an aged bottle but it’s scent doesn’t seem to have problem.it just opens with lots of alcohol like most aged perfumes but alcohol fades in seconds and your left with a cup of warm, delicious hazelnut hot chocolate with an orange slice on cop’s side
    ❤❤❤❤❤
P.s: layered black opium with this and I’m in pure heaven.hmmmm
Gonna try it with armani code satin and angel muse to see the result.it also layers very well with masculine Colognes.my husband tried it with guerlain l’instant and it’s perfect.I think it also goes well with leathery perfumes

It’s always bittersweet to review a beloved scent that has been discontinued but several of my favorites (Stila – Creme Boquet, L’Artisan Parumeur – Tea for Two, etc…) have made a comeback in the past year so there is always hope!
Sorry if this is repetitive with other users but here goes: The main thing people imagine when they see the name and read that it has hazelnut as one of its main notes is: Nutella, which is a fair guess. However in Chocolovers, both the chocolate and hazelnut notes are dry and sugar-free and vanilla-infused. When you open a jar of Nutella you get a thick, rich, oily aroma of sweet chocolatey hazelnut – In Chocolovers, it feels like all the oily calories have beed sucked out and there’s a cleaner, musky feeling. The coriander, musk and vanilla are very noticeable, and the orange is back there but not in that Terry’s Chocolate Orange way. (Which is RIDICULOUSLY sugary. I don’t even understand how child-me was able to eat it without going into a sugar induced coma!)
Like other reviewers have said, I do think this is a winter scent and would be adorable to wear at Christmas time. On a hot summer day, it risks choking the whole room in musky hazelnut-coriander fumes and causing headaches.
But yeah, this is definitely on the list of 100 perfumes every perfume lover MUST experience, whether male or female. A unique star in the gourmand category. The packaging is adorable too but I agree with the people who said that the name might have scared some people off. For true perfume lovers like us, it doesn’t matter if a perfume is called Fermented Baboon Pee, if it smells good, we’ll wear it. But for the casual customer, maybe they don’t want to buy something that makes it look like they eat too much chocolate, which is really sad. Depriving themselves of amazing perfume because ‘What will people think??’ Maybe it’s because of them that the sales were bad and this was discontinued.
Well, here’s hoping that someone over at Aquolina figures out a way to re-market this again.

This is definitely a winter scent. Now that it is winter here in Texas, I put on this scent and get the hazelnut and orange and not some off “urine” type of smell that I was getting before.
I like it a lot better. To think that I was going to swap this because it smelled like urine on me, but I got it and used it dead in the middle of summer. I am starting to realize, there are actual winter scents and actual summer scents. Before, I just wore whatever, whenever. I’m learning so much about the craft of perfumery.

Definitely too much orange for me. It is important to note that Chocolovers is much more of a hazlenut scent as others have established. Not much chocolate to be found here. After it has settled, this fragrance does have a sweet, Nutella-esque quality, but the opening has way too much citrus for me. In fact, this is mostly a nutty orange scent on my skin. I would like Chocolovers if it did not have this odd waxy quality to it that is reminiscent of Yankee Candles or off-brand Easter candy. I do enjoy the dry dark cocoa scent of Angel Taste of Fragrance, but I definitely have yet to find a true chocolate beauty.

shame on you aquolina! i think this one is more succesfull than pink sugar. i cant understand why they discontinued this.
anyway, this perfume is the only fume that i can smell chocolate COMPLETELY. my friends were also think this way. if you can find it on any store, dont think twice, buy immediately.
unfortunately i cant find anywhere. aquolina should bring this back or make a substitute for this.

YES! I happened to find Chocolovers at a reasonable price in an online shop that ships to my country. I am looking SOOOO much forward to receiving Chocolovers and smelling it. I just hope I won’t be disappointed and I hope that it hasn’t gone rancid. I will update this review when I’m ready to write an actual review! 🙂
Edit Feb 5, 2016: I love Chocolovers. I had prepared myself for a nutty scent and not a chocolate-y scent, but I was pleasantly surprised. To me it smells a bit like chocolate and a bit like nuts. It’s sweet, but I like sweet gourmand perfumes, and this is it. I’m happy to have Chocolovers in my collection. I like this one far better than Pink Sugar. I do, however, love Gold Sugar more than Chocolovers. But if you’re looking for a sweet perfume with a hint of Nutella and chocolate, I think you’ll like this one.

  21. :

    Sweet? Yes.
    Gourmand? Yes.
I have this & I wear it occasionally, but it’s not a fav because some of the notes just smell really harsh on me (or at least TO me)
For anyone wanting a very chocolate-y chocolate, I suggest Tokyo Milk Bittersweet. That one is much more straight-forward cocoa chocolate, and the price is decent.
    Happy sniffing!

I tend to get specific notes on my mind sometimes, like for this example chocolate. So I went ahead and blind bought this one along with Amour de cacao. I have to say I love Amour de cacao better, even though my chocolate-phase turned out to be short-lived. I love to eat chocolate, wearing it was not really my thing.. This is definitely a like, but nothing more.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

Delicious scent. Like creamy chocolate hazelnut cocoa with vanilla marshmallows. With hints of candied oranges and nuts.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

The listed notes are wrong, and surprisingly no one’s mentioned this in the reviews.
It’s true that there is no actual chocolate in Chocolovers, but there is malt and a very chocolatey patchouli note.
    Official notes:
    Top: Bergamot, orange, lemon
Middle: Lily of the valley, coriander, hazelnut, patchouli
Base: Vanilla, malt, musks, vanilla absolute
After the bracing opening of citruses and herbal floral notes begins to fade off, the true scent of Chocolovers is left: creamy, delicious Nutella. The Nutella holds for about 4 hours, after which it slows fades away until just a hint of nutty hazelnut is left.
If you’re seeking a “true” chocolate scent, you might want to seek elsewhere, since this is not a milk or dark chocolate scent.

I know when to admit that i am wrong about something and i was wrong about this perfume big time so i am deleting my old post and putting up this one. Ok ok, i hated it at first because it was too peppery like with the coriander but after a week the bottle settles down in its notes and it becomes more user friendly. So after a week of using this i can say i actually love this a lot.I never was a chocolate fan until i tried this.So much so i have been craving it.I wish i could get more bottles of it but at the price its selling for its too much to get all at once and maybe one at a time. So i am thinking of investing in Choco Musk oil to make up for it.Now this fragrance smells mainly of orange, hazelnut, coriander and vanilla the most.It is like hot orange coco powder chocolate that lingers for hours.I really never knew the bottle was going to calm down but after it did i can totally love this.If its too much for you in the beginning give it a good week before you decide on this one.I wonder if anything else can compare to the sillage and longetivity that aquolina offers with their fragrances? I will try Choco Musk and let you know! But one thing is for sure i don’t know if i like this more than Pink Sugar now…we will see with time i will update.

Just wanted to FYI to y’all. I’ve had a bottle of this forever, and it has not turned. So, if you find a good feedback seller on Ebay, go ahead and try, but don’t spend insane amounts. It’s just not that good. If you have to, get the Montale Chocolate Greedy. Montale fragrances are FABULOUS. No kidding, they are spot on. Their rose is just like a rose, a bit too much for me. But their Sweet Oriental Dream is so Rahat Loukhoum that I love it! I’ve not tried a lot of their fragrances, but they are long lasting and really smell like whatever they are supposed to smell like! At least on me. Anyways, just wanted to y’all and say, if you find a deal on Ebay, scope it out, it might still be worth it. Mine hasn’t turned in many a years. Although, I have kept it in a dark closet in the round cylinder. Good luck! I do love it too!

I still have my bottle I had two but ended up with one I don’t use it at all can’t find it anywhere it has turned dark in color but still smells good I wish they would have discontinued pink sugar and kept this one it smells way better. Marshalls and tjmaxx used to have this and all the good stuff around the holidays but now they get garbage fragrances

I am not only devastated that this is discontinued – I used it sparingly because I loved it so much… since I keep my bottles bunched up in a basket, it tilted and was leaking for I don’t know how long, so I only have 1/4 of the bottle left! The horrible irony.
It’s so warm… I live in tropical weather, so it can be overwhelming, but I loved to use it on dates. The other perfume that kind of reminds me of this one is Beauticontrol’s Brown Sugar, but it’s not the same…

  39. :

I find it hard to believe that Chocolovers doesn’t have any actual chocolate in it, because it smells EXACTLY like Nutella! Gooey, delicious, chocolately Nutella. Lots of hazelnut and vanilla, with a hint of orange. It is SUCH a shame that it’s been discontinued because I’d love to have a full bottle. I guess I’ll have to turn to eBay for this one. Highly recommended for any gourmand or chocolate lover, or even anyone with a sweet tooth. I don’t care for pink sugar or any of the other Aquolinas, but this one is just absolutely perfect. Doesn’t really have an age category, but I’d say younger women would be more likely to fall in love with this. If you have access to it, at least sample it! It’s well worth it.

  40. :

A favorite since 2008, 5 bottles later, and my love for chocolovers could still be rivaled by the ferocity of some of my most intense crushes. Chocolovers is as well all know, not really a chocolate scent. Instead of capturing literal chocolate, chocolovers captures the essence of an intoxicating evening that may as well be as decadent as chocolate.
Chocolovers is extremely sweet and a bit synthetic. It’s aura is like being surrounded by chocolatey orange sweets, creamy hazelnut cocoa, and flickering vanilla candles.
The silage is thick and the trail is lovely, you’ll be catching mmm mmm sniffs all day. Of course I am extremely upset this fragrance was discontinued. Be careful when picking up bottles now adays because some bottles are starting to turn. One of mine did half way through use and it was such a shame, had a stiff stale citric smell to the liquid.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

This one smells good in the bottle, but on my skin, it smells synthetic orange with a little creaminess. I don’t get pure chocolate, which was what I was hoping for. I might try to reach for it again in the winter… but smells so artificial, I don’t know if I want to.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Thanks to a sweet member here, I was finally able to try Chocolovers a few weeks back!
To me the opening of this smells just like a chocolate orange ball! I did not feel that this smelled at all like Nutella, and did not get much hazelnut from it. I was surprised how much it reminded me of Pink Sugar, it’s like that’s the base of this scent, and chocolate and orange notes were added to it.
Chocolate notes tend not to go well with my chemistry – I was hoping it wouldn’t happen with Chocolovers, but it did anyways; around 10 minutes after spraying, I got a sweet incense-y smell wafting from my skin. It HAS to be my chemistry, as I do not see any other reviewers thinking that Chocolovers smells like this after awhile. My brothers told me that the scent reminded them of burning incense sticks at the various Buddhist shrines in Taiwan. Not bad at all, just not for me.

  43. :

First spray is mostly hazelnut, a little bit of orange. It dries down to just hazelnut and vanilla. I think it’s okay but not as earth-shaking as I thought it would be, I wish I had just purchased a sample and not the full bottle.

I tried this today. From morning spray on cloth 9 am – 7 pm and the scent is still strong. Best to wear on a colder day. The opening is probably one of the most wonderful, delicious, chocolate-y scent I have ever smelled in perfumes. To me it opens like an orange-cream cupcake dipped in chocolate. IT’S JUST TOO DAMN GOOD. However, that beautiful combination only lasts about 15 mins, then follows vanilla and musk or something quite powdery. I wouldn’t say I liked it, nor I hated it, but it’s rather overwhelming and it stays for hours! 4-5 hrs and I was starting to feel like vomiting (the same feeling I had with Pink Sugar), come home and took a shower, then later (surprise, surprise) that musky vanilla-y smell is almost gone and now my clothes smell like a hazelnut-chocolate milk! In all, I liked it but I wouldn’t buy the full bottle. The lasting power is incredible and the notes are generally nice, but it’s one of those perfumes you really have to be in the mood to wear, and I don’t think I’ll be wanting to wear this scent again this year (I do like it though haha, seriously)

This smells really creamy, dreamy, chocolately, and nearly edible for about fifteen minutes. Then a watery orange enters into the mix and seems to wash everything away. Not detectable on my skin after one hour.

An awesome winter fragrance, and I don’t know why it’s been discontinued!! It’s SO much better than Pink Sugar by the same company. I received compliments on this, especially by men! It’s so warm….

Cant stop smelling my wrist and would like to ate it if possible.
This is a very soft and deilghtfull gourmand scent.
The orange is at its strongest the first minutes – then it fades avay and leaves a minimal trace. Smells mostly of chokolate, soft nuts and sugar.
It is somewat a little flat – could have been made more potent och letting the orange be stonger and stable to the end.
It is the true comfortperfume – you just feels like creeping under the cover, stay there and let the scent glide over you body like varm, melting chokolate.
I suspect that it fades quickly and it is very close to the skin.

This perfume is amazing. It sucks that this was a limited edition. The one thing I don’t like is that the orange is a bit overpowering to me. I like to layer this perfume with the other Aquolina perfume Gold Sugar that just came out. The combanation of these two are meant to be. Chocolovers, and Gold Sugar are both great Winter, and Valentine Days fragrences. Hopefully they will re make Chocolovers, and bring it back out. This time put some kind of chocolate in it, and coconut, and pinapple, and banana. I think that would be perfect! I will say I do like Gold Sugar more, Gold Sugar has more power than Chocolovers, it really depends on the mood your in, and if you want light, or more heavy.

I have a weakness for gourmand fragrances, and Chocolovers tops my list. I actually prefer it to Angel, Hanae Mori, Fancy, Pink Candy, and Prada Candy (though these are excellent gourmands that I’ve enjoyed, as well).
There is something about the combination of chocolate and patchouli that sends me into flights of ecstasy (I’m not sure why Fragrantica doesn’t have patchouli listed as a note, because it is extremely prominent here). Patchouli adds depth to cocoa, taking it from milk chocolate to a bitter, dark chocolate. The dryness of the coriander prevents the chocolate from being overly sweet. The addition of orange here adds another layer to the gourmand aspect and helps to bring a tartness and tang to the rich chocolate. The combination is perfection.
I would classify typical gourmands as “cozy,” but Chocolovers is different: it is sexy and and slightly aggessive. You don’t wear this for comfort, you wear this when you want to seduce 😉
This lasts an incredibly long time on skin and clothing, and it definitely garners compliments. If you like gourmands but feel that many of the gourmands available on the market are too “young” or girlish, this could be a more sophisticated option. It does fall under the category of a “heavy” fragrance, in my opinion, so if you are sensitive or need something light, it might not be for you. This is more appropriate at night and in the cooler months. It could be overwhelming in the summer.
Overall, this is one of the best (and most underrated) gourmands out there.
Update: Just read through some other reviews and noticed many people talking about this being discontinued? What a shame, if that is true.

This perfume smells like chocolate for sure! However there’s just a tad bit of citrus in there which I dislike. 🙁

This is a totally chocolate hazelnut perfume with some orange cream. Thus a lot of people states it is nutella with tinge of orange. I really really find it a true to life smell of nutella, probably on top of orange sponge cake. It definitely makes me hungry for chocolate and it lasts quite well. It is not tooth achingly sweet, just delicious chocolate! So far the realistic chocolate w/o flowers that i have encountered so far. I dont find it any similar to delicious chocolate by gale hayman as that has a very flowery drydown on me plus not as long lasting as this one. If you find one on ebay at a good price, I do suggest you grab one immediately.

Of course I just had to fall in love with a perfume that is hard to find and discontinued! The opening reminds me of a milk chocolate Toblerone orange. Then the drydown is hazelnuts and coriander. It lasts 6 hours; for a gourmand fragrance on my skin, that’s GREAT.

Chocolovers is the ultimate chocolate fragrance & has become one of my favourite scents. I’m really disappointed that it has been discontinued.
The scent is absolutely delicious! It’s like a mixture of chocolate milk, Nutella (chocolate spread) & a hint of orange. It is a very comforting perfume, wonderful for Winter but I find I can also get away with it on warmer days too. I get huge compliments when I wear this, from females and males of all ages! Kids love this one as much as adults do (of course, due to it smelling like chocolate!).
This is a perfume I really look forward to wearing but unfortunately now that I can’t buy a replacement I’m wearing it sparingly. If I knew that I could repurchase it, I’d probably wear it more often.
Aquolina, please please please consider re-releasing Chocolovers.
