Chevaux d’Or is lux sweetness and candied money. I think the bottle is supposed to be a jeweled cupcake?
The first spritz is salt and strawberries. The second is raspberries and sugar.
Then roses. All the roses. Tight buds, sharp and green, then full and sexy and come-hither, and finally sweet and blowsy and soft.
Settles down with a sheer layer of vanilla and spicy sweet flowers over the roses. It lasts for a few hours, then fades into nutty powder.
A spoiled princess perfume in the most perfect way.

No shade, these bottles are kinna ugly like a Mario mushroom! Smells like heaven, though! Smells very expensive, very indulgent like a dessert you’d treat yourself to once a year. Not too sweet strawberry and raspberry with the vanilla base creates such a luxurious almost jam-like scent that really gives the roses a perfect backdrop. There’s a green quality to this as well that keeps it from going in the typical fruity-floral direction. I wanna wear this on my super sweet sixteen and seduce my best friend’s boyfriend.

I definitely love rose and it’s one of my favorite notes and I’ve used everything from Jo Malone’s Red Roses(which to me smells like an actual rose… you can smell the dew on the petals and stem) to Penhaligon’s Elisabethan Rose(true rose) to one of my faves Byredo’s Rose of No Man’s Land(strong, true, clean rose with other notes) and I am now also hooked on Mojo Magique’s Pixie Rose(soft, clean, true.. a summer rose scent). Yes, that’s a lot of rose!!! Comparing all these scents to House of Sillage’s Chevaux d’Or, I would say HOS’ smells the most expensive. It’s a highly luxurious rose scent even though I love all the previous mentioned rose scents at different times and for different occasions. Chevaux interestingly also has other notes that make the scent very fun and almost playful like the raspberry note so it doesn’t come off as too snooty and is very wearable. Of the three HOS fragrances I own(Nouez Moi and Tiara as well) this is the lightest but it still is a strong scent that lasts for hours.

The first spray the scent of pure rubbing alchol smell, after the second spray a powerful rubbing alchol smell. After 30 seconds you smell a rose scent. It reminds me of a cheap toilette with a rose scent that is used for the rinse cycle on the washing machine in the 1920’s by the wealthy households. This is just a toilette with a rose scent and need to be sold for $20 because of the rose essential oils. Also, you will have to carry the bottle with you every hour to refresh the scent. Elizabeth Taylor Diamond and Rubies toilette is a better quality and longer lasting. One point is the bottle which is very pretty. Goes to show you”Don’t judge a fragrance by the look of a bottle.” This bottle needs to be sold in drug stores for $20 which will give the House of Sillage a profit, because a price tag of $360 is over charge by $340.

Just received a sample from Lucky Scent. It is delicious!
I literally poured the vial down my neck this morning. Sweet, ripe red fruits and tropical vanilla…scrumptious! Sadly it does not last, but it’s so good I don’t care. Chevaux d’Or will be my next F.B. purchase
*Update: Having worn Chevaux d’Or, or “The Golden Horses” for about a year now I’m certain it will be one I repurchase & keep in my collection. The sweet gourmand notes first drew me in, but it’s the musk & the lightly nutty black baccara rose that keep me coming back.I imagine the smell of a horses sun-warmed flank. Signature worthy if it had more oomph..I buy the travel sprays now, they’re much more economical. That blinged-out cupcake bottle is stuck in a drawer. xoxo
