Description

For Chanel No°5 fans, Chanel is launching a new version of the world-renowned perfume – Chanel N°5 Eau Premiere. This modern and seductive fragrance was adapted from the original Chanel N°5 by Jacques Polge.

The new version of the ‘old’ fragrance is lighter, fresher, softer, more delicate, and suitable for every-day use. Chanel N°5 Eau Premiere includes all original ingredients of N°5: rose absolute, jasmine, neroli and ylang-ylang. Ylang-ylang for this fragrance comes from the Comoro Islands, and Jasmine from Chanel-owned fields in Grasse. The face on the ad is again Nicole Kidman.

Chanel No°5 Eau Premiere comes in 150ml bottle (US$125) and will be available at department stores and other Chanel retailers in October 2007.

I do not understand how anyone could find this to be similar to Chanel 5 EDP. Chanel no. 5 eau de parfum, the original, is smooth and has a classic scent. It is timeless and stunning. This “premiere” version does not even have a base that is Chanel. Just know that you are getting a completely different scent with this one (L’eau is a completely different one also (and equally foul smelling). The 3 have no similarities, as the reviews suggest). This fragrance does not mesh well, and it smells like the word “perfume” in the way that one would refer to “perfume” during a negative comment. I was excited to try this one and thought it was like Chanel, with the addition of a fresh, champagne note. I sense the fizz of champagne, yes, but it isn’t a scent that adds to its advantage. It smells like something that is added to a temporary smell to “mask” a scent. Overall, this perfume doesn’t smell good at all. It smells like 7up is masking a cologne made for a 14 year old boy. The only difference is that colognes for teens can be cute and appropriate. This Premiere is not floral, not cute for teens, not elegant for women, and not fun for young adults. It smells like bug spray mixed with 7up. I like 7up smells, but not in this perfume. I am really confused about the reviews and wonder whether there are so many different versions of Chanel 5 that perhaps people were reviewing the wrong perfume. This one is not a modernized version of Chanel 5, as I had hoped. It is just a different scent altogether.

I don’t know why Iris isn’t listed in the notes but there is definitely Iris in here. According to my nose, this is:
Iris + Ylang + Aldehydes + Powdery Notes + Sparkly Fizzy Neroli
Those are the main 5. I really don’t notice the rose+jasmine combo note that Chanel does in here but I’m sure it’s just really well blended. The sandalwood lends a light creaminess. If there’s vanilla, it translates more as a powdered sugar note for me.
I do have the post 2015 version as well and that definitely has more vanilla and is sweeter (and also in my opinion has iris.) That one is usually my favorite of the two but there are moods (like now) where I like this more. It kind of reminds me of the fresh air you smell when you re on top of a snowy mountain, that bright sharp sparkly feeling of inhaling fresh air on a cold day. Except the air is mildly sweet and floral.
This is so beautiful and relaxing. Like a ‘take me away to a palace on top of the clouds with no worries and all the time in the world’ kind of feeling. I will be sad when it’s finished, even though I still have the 2015 version.
(Also, this is one that smells better when your hands are at least half a foot away from your face. If you stick your nose into your wrist you do get that wet talcum powder kind of smell.)

    Mr Viking
The tall no 5 eau premiere is 150 ml
    ( Or 75 or 40 ? Were made too)
There seems to be a lot of copies of the 150 ml
However so be sure to get batch code etc before purchase that’s low down on back.
The only reason I know about fakes is because
The silly fakers had put no 19 on a tall eau premiere bottle and that never was released lol , they must have been tired that day!
    Good luck !! 🙂

My favorite Chanel fragrance from their main line! I like the 2015? version, but I started with this one from 2007 in the huge 5 oz bottle and it’s what I’m sticking with. I have plenty of juice to last me and although it’s discontinued, I don’t feel regret spraying it the same way I do with others in my collection that are d/c and almost extinct. The opening and middle phase remind me a lot of Bois Des Iles, but a less refined, less potent version. The dry down here is full of vanilla and citrus on me, so that’s where the similarities end. It’s that fizzy aldehydes opening along with the sandalwood that gets me every time!
And for anyone still wondering if the made in USA version differs at all from the made in France version of this particular Premiere, my answer is yes. I have both and here’s what I see…
Made in USA juice is clearer and light yellowish whereas made in France is darker and tinted pinkish yellow. The latter is stronger on the aldehydes opening and stronger on the vanilla and sandalwood base. Marginally. You can tell by looking at them that the made in France is more highly concentrated. By the smells of it, it’s also a touch higher quality and probably made with better ingredients. I trust my nose on this one. The differences however are negligible when you don’t have both to compare. Made in US is amazing, but made in France is stronger on all fronts and lasts longer as well. I’m happy to have both so I can spray the USA version freely while saving the France bottle for whenever I want that extra oomph.

I first picked this up at its launch in 2007, but I (inexplicably) returned it. I remember that I had been so excited to get it, because I love love love Chanel No 5, but I was disappointed that Eau Premiere wasn’t “as good” or as strong as the original. So I exchanged it for the No 5 pure parfum instead. Fast forward to now. I already own L’Eau, and it is way too soft to even be detectable to me, but I figured it was time to revisit Eau Premiere. I decided to purchase an original 2007 version and I am so happy I did. It’s so fresh and lemony, and actually reminds me very much of Shalimar Legere (which is also pretty new to me and which I also love). This is a perfect Chanel No 5 for summer…not too strong as to be headache inducing, but persistent enough to be enjoyed all day. I’d say L’Eau is more of a wear to bed scent as it’s a “barely there smell” to my nose (I never used to wear fragrance to bed but once I heard others talk about doing it I figured why not?). Then classic No 5 can be enjoyed through all of the colder months. As for the most recent Eau Premiere, I’d like to get a sample and see if it’s worth picking up as well, or if the changes are too minimal.
Edit: I layered Rose Jam body spray by Lush under Eau Premiere today and Oh my God! I am floating. It’s just heavenly. They work together perfectly and seamlessly. I am in a lemony rose garden!

I found this version (5oz) for a great price on ebay, and went for it. I have No. 5 in vintage cologne, modern EDP, modern EDT (magnetic cap) but I never sniffed any of the “flankers” and my first impression is citrus powder vanilla. If you blindfolded me and I sniffed this– I would call it a Shalimar flanker like Eau de Shalimar or Shalimar Souffle (or even the pink Shal cologne). It’s not very No. 5 to me.
It’s not very potent so far, but I guess that is why the bottle is so big. 😉
I miss the soapy aldehydes of Classic No. 5. I can’t really find them in Premiere.
This is still a win, an easily likable fragrance. Easy to wear, not cloying, soft yet personal/nice sillage. (I sprayed on fabric because nothing seems to last on my skin). It’s like you mixed the EDT of No. 5 with Shalimar Souffle.
As it dries, it seems to mesh into familiar No 5 territory. I do like this, but not more than the original No. 5– the vintage cologne being my fave because I love musky skanky vintage smells. 😉
In the “grand scheme of things” (aka- my collection) this is kinda basic.

    I LOVE the 2007 version
The 2015 version is much more mainstream and unrefined, i am afraid.
I would LOVE to buy the 2007 version again, but I seem to have a great deal of problems remembering how many ml the original bottle contained.
I tried the slender bottle containing 60 ml, and was disappointed by it, thinking that this must be the 2015 version or af knock-off.
    PLEASE HELP ME.

    The lemon chiffon No. 5!
Starts off aldehyde-heavy…too heavy, but fading after 30 minutes or so. There remains the coziest lemon, vanilla, white musk, and neroli close to the skin. Moderately long-lasting (6 hours, maybe more), with light sillage. This is my favorite to overspray, leaving a laundry fresh + vanilla pastry breeze in the room and just enough sillage with 6 sprays. I only briefly tried the new version, but I’m hopeful that it truly is better and longer-lasting than this one, because I already love it.

    Hello everyone.
Hope someone can help me 🙂
I have found a chanel no 5 eau Premier, I wish to buy, but since there are many chanel copies, I want to make sure that it is genuine before buying.
So I hope there is someone who has the opportunity to send me a picture of the bottom of a 75 ml. eau premier. Please write a PM.
Thank you very very much 🙂

Just recently I was able to acquire the original slender bottle of Eau Premiere.
I also have the recent formulation as well, in the normal square bottle.
I wanted to do a comparison between both of them!
Similarities include the floral accord and bright opening.
    Differences:
The original slender bottle tends to dry down with a more bitter and soapy quality that is really smooth. The opening has a fresh lemony quality to it.
The new version dries down with more vanilla, and is a bit sweeter. The opening has a lemon cake/batter creamy quality to it.
Overall, I’m liking the slender bottle just a little more, as I found the sweetness in the newer version a little too cloying. However, both smell really good!
    UPDATE:
I noticed with the original, it does start out softer than the current one, but over time, it intensifies, while the current one slowly fades away.
Also, the original formulation is giving me close resemblance of the dry down of the No. 5 Body Cream with the more pronounced sandalwood. I don’t recognize this with the newer version.

I just purchased a HUGE 150ml bottle… I was lucky to buy it half the price from someone who received this beauty as a gift.
I love the original Chanel 5°…but at my age I don´t feel like wearing it. I would feel like a wanna be. This is a lighter, fresher version of the classic. The notes are perfectly balanced… beautiful. The sillage is also fine. I have received compliments mainly from older men when wearing it. They find this fragrance alluring.

I have the version in the tall bottle shown above. I don’t know whether there is any difference between this and the newer bottle that is a rectangle. Mine is almost ten years old now, and the liquid has darkened to a pinkish hue. It still smells great, though, still fresh by some miracle. I have read that jasmine in a perfume will darken with time, so that could be the reason. This is soft and powdery No 5 with an emphasis on citrus that is not sharp or acidic, and a vanilla that isn’t really all that strongly vanillic, more of a whipped air creaminess. Wears lightly on me. Fluffy. No 5 with all the sharp metallic edges taken away. For some reason I rarely wear it, which is why I’ve had the bottle so long. I’m going to start wearing it more often.

I like Chanel No. 5 but wanted something a little different. I tried Chanel l’eau and really liked it but wanted something a little stronger and longer lasting. I was lucky enough to get one of the tall bottles of Eau Premiere and it is perfect! Aldehydes, neroli, jasmine, ylang ylang, and iris come through for me, and the drydown is softly powdery. Gorgeous!

I made the mistake of test spraying the 2015 formulation (in the short bottle) and going to a fitness class at my local gym. Since then, I am OBSESSED with the scent and cannot wait until I purchase a bottle. A BIG bottle. The exercise increased my body heat and just radiated the perfume into a gorgeous, (lightly) powdery floral aldehyde cloud that had me huffing for different reasons. I think plenty of reviews do it justice when they say this is an updated, lighter relative of our beloved Chanel No.5, stripping away the “special occasion” feel and making it far more approachable for daily wear.
Despite Eau Premiere’s notes giving a soft and feminine imagery, it was right at home in a gym setting without seeming like I was trying too hard to smell good. Bonus was that I felt powerful and graceful taking in the scent as I power-lifted a barbell over my head, lol. .
The only disappointment would be the price-point (Well, yeah it’s Chanel, duh). I would love to spray this on before going to the gym, but that seems a barbaric usage for such an elegant fragrance (not to mention wasteful at my extremely modest income level).

I own the version shown in the pictore above. And don’t even try to describe it note by note, all of you did it so perfectly:)
This is my pretty-scent. Not really my personality (it’s much nicer than me LOL), but the prettiest amog all my perfumes and I would also say, this is the one that is th easiest to get along with for other people. I always get lots of compliment on my scent when I wear this.

  17. :

This is for the latest version. I have no idea what the more “vintage” Premiere smells like but this, for me is just a softer version of the original No5. which is simply to heavy. I was hoping the drydown would change into something light and beautiful like Beige did but I’m at hour 3 and it’s No5 light … still.

  18. :

This is for the 2007 version in the tall bottle. I bought it, loved the opening, but the dry down at the time seemed too similar to Chanel No. 5, which I don’t like. So I put in a drawer (in its box), and would decant it some for friends, but used it infrequently. Recently, I took it out and revisited it; I had a few ml left. I don’t know exactly what changed, but I really like it now! The element that bothered me before has smoothed out, and it has a pleasantly clean, somewhat metallic vibe. Who I picture wearing it: A woman in a white cotton blouse, pearl- or diamond stud earrings, Elsa Perretti pendant, hair in a sleek ponytail, crisp cotton pants or a pencil skirt, with unfussy, but well-designed shoes.

By the way, my review below was for the 2007 version in the tall bottle. I have not had a chance to experience the 2015 version in the iconic Chanel short bottle. I’ve been told they are different formulations.

Very Chanel, of course! I must say, when I wear this one, I get the most compliments – and most unexpected! This frag must leave a very distinctive trail as I walk past…for me, it’s simply a delight to be surrounded by such loveliness!

This is just beautiful, not cloying in any way , one of the few fragrances that is easily for night or day.
Bright shimmering citrusy top notes ,sweet soft mid notes and a softly woodsy / creamy floral dry down, reminds me of UK love heart sweets !
(Though it’s not a particularly flowery fragrance.)
Very very CHANEL very very CHIC.
My current favorite as it’s just so easy to wear.
Definitely the most pretty and fluffy fragrance that you still take seriously.
I can’t see many people disliking this as it’s not a fragrance you need time to get used to, instant LOVE.
I personally can’t quite see much resemblance to her famous mother no°5 in edp or parfum , but this newer version is equally lovely with its fresh, transparent, more delicate feel.
The newer version in the squarer bottles is lovely too but this version just tops it 🙂
A perfume i reach for constantly instead of just looking at it and wondering if i should dust it lol 🙂
also , my bad , as i love to occasionaly mix or layer this with the edp , dont hit me all at once lol , is it sacrilege ?? my nose thinks not haha : )
    10 outa 10 easily !

This is a lighter, younger version of the original Chanel no 5 and is, in my opinion, a master stroke. It smells luxurious, but fresher and less cloying. It’s one that can be worn day or night but it does command attention. It tends to be my power dressing perfume. If I have an important meeting, an interview, or am expecting a confrontation at work, I’ll wear this. A woman in Chanel No 5 is one with high standards and won’t be pushed around.
It is a striking scent, a little sharp in application, but with vanilla notes in there as well.
In terms of longevity this stuff is incredible. If I spray it on myself and then put on a scarf, I can still smell the scent on the cloth even weeks later. On the skin it lasts over 24 hours, so a little goes a long way.
I imagine the wearer as elegant, self assured and a little self indulgent but with a steel core and a good deal of determination.

I just want to add another review about 5 years later now. This fragrance has become my signature scent and most dear to my heart! Its one of those things where you may try others here and there and dabble into something new for a bit but my heart always belongs to eau premiere! This is just so beautiful. Light woody floral that lingers on the skin in a sweet way.
Im finally close to using up my big bottle of this one and Im actually excited to buy a huge bottle of eau premiere in the new square shape bottle..I have tested the ‘new’ version from 2015 and they really are the same. I do like the looks of the square, classic bottles better anyway.
    Love this so much <3

There are so many versions! This is the third one I tried. The original is the riches in my opinion. It’s my signature scent but it’s quite heavy too in casual, warm weather situations. The L’Eau version has more citrus notes. I love it during summer. Eau De Premièr would be more appropriate during fall or spring. It’s more powdery in a clean way. It’s not as fresh and modern as L’Eau and not as sensual and classic as the original. This perfume really falls between those two. I like it! It’s a wonderful perfume on it’s own.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

Eau Premiere opens with a shimmery veil of effervescent aldehydes that is typical of so many Chanel perfumes. It then dries down to a classy, bright and clean floral bouquet that lays very soft on the skin and has nice sillage.
Regarding reformulation…..in comparing the two samples I have, one is the original from before 2015 and the other recent, I find that the original is slightly sweeter and powdery with a more pronounced iris at the heart and in the drydown. The newer version reminds me more of the original Chanel #5 with more sandalwood apparent in the drydown. They do smell very similar but are certainly different. I would compare their similarities to twins that are fraternal, not identical. They are both beautiful, but one of them (the latest version of Eau premiere) is a little more like mom.
If I had to choose between the formulations, I would have a hard time picking. Both are beautiful, classy, and typical Chanel fragrances through and through. You can’t really go wrong with either.

Every night I spray it before I’m going to bed. I just love it, very similar to a 5 L’eau. Sometimes I’m layer it with the original 5.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

Eau premiere lasts longer on the skin then Chanel no. 5 EDP & EDT. It resembles the EDP a lot as the EDT dries down much sweeter (which I prefer). I don’t understand why this one lasts 2 days on my skin and the no. 5 EDP & EDT only last an hour!

It’s a big day in my life.my first day with Chanel n5 premiere
It’s been weeks that I’m thinking of it and reading it’s reviews.I couldn’t find it for trying but I found a 150 mil tester bottle of pre reformulation no 5 premiere for a good price(according to overall Chanel prices)and I couldn’t stop dreaming about it.finally I convinced my mom that she needs a Chanel in her life.she gave me money to buy it for her and I rushed to shaghayegh to take this darling home.last night I slept with a bottle of premiere near my pillow.what a lovely night
I have never tried Chanel five or new premiere so I can’t compare them.I was always afraid of animalic notes of number five so I couldn’t even think of blind buying it
Premiere was all what I had expected and even more.fellow fragrantican reviews describe it very well so I knew what I’m going to face.it opens with a bright, fizzy lemony aldehyde.for someone like me who really knows nothing about Chanels and aldehydic fragrances it was kind of strange and interesting. It was like champagne and also clean and lemony in a good way(I’m not a citrus fan).it’s fizzy quality calms down as it’s floral heart starts blooming
I can say there are lots of lovely floral notes in it but I can’t say it’s a very floral scent. It doesn’t smell like a garden or like a flower shop.notes are so well blended that you won’t smell like a specific flower.I can feel neroli, ylanylang, jasmine and something like iris in it.they’re not heady or sharp or over powering.they stay soft and pretty all through it’s development. I can’t detect dramatic changes in notes.it just becomes a tad warmer, softer and more creamy thanks to sandalwood, vanilla and musk.base notes aren’t heavy and none of them tries to over power other notes, they’re just there to ground other notes and provide a creamy base for light, clean flowers. It’s a love for me from first second of spraying til there’s a shadow of it’s delicate clean scent lingering on my skin after hours.I see it as pure perfection.it’s timeless, ageless, clean, classy, calming and charming.smells light and simple and lovely at the same time expensive and is effortlessly beautiful. Typically I love heavy perfumes and sillage monsters but premiere isn’t showy even a bit.it’s soft feminine charm makes it mesmerizing and enchanting
Will edit to add about it’s longevity but sillage is soft to moderate
I don’t know how I’m going to say goodbye to this beautiful babe and give it to my mom
    Edit:
I’m the luckiest girl in the world!
My kind, lovely mom tried it and liked it a lot but when she saw how much I adore premier, gifted it to me and asked me to decant 20mil for her.I can’t believe it’s going to be mine forever.
I believe there’s something common in all chanels(at least the ones I know) .they’re all very well blended, clean and classy and are proofs for this fact:simplicity is beauty.chanel no 5 premier is really soft so if you wanna turn heads even before entering a room it won’t do it for you but if you want to mesmerize people who are close enough to enter your personal area,it’s a great choice.it opens like a seven up,fizzy and lemony and dries down to a subtle and clean woody-vanilla-floral.beautiful.longevity is all day long on my skin but sillage never passes moderate and this makes it highly versatile.it’s wearable year round but shines best in Springs
I had the opportunity of test new version of premier, ofcourse not a detailed and good test so I need further tests to really discover it’s development.I Find pre and post reformulation premier very similar just that the new version is less lemony. I liked that one too

I have the giant tall bottle of this – the 150 ml. I really like it! I can’t get into the original no 5 – to sharp and floral for me. This is soft, and soapy, and I love the dry down. However, it doesn’t seem to last for very long. Maybe that why the giant bottles go for only about $100? Because you sure have to use a lot for it to show up, but the bottle is GORGEOUS, and classic, and I love to stare at it. It’s a little boring for me – very soft, very classy, does not make a huge statement. It sort of smells like My Sin without the civet. To me it’s a skin scent, not too much projection. I put this on an hour before I had to go to a barre class and was worried I would clear out the room if it heated up too much with me sweating, but I could barely smell it. This is an EXCELLENT summer scent to wear to work, weddings, and when the temp is soaring. It’s never overpowering, and always subtle. A good entry to Chanel, I’d say. I would also say this is a better buy than the no 5 L’Eau. I LOVE LOVE L’Eau but got this because it is similar, but it lasts longer and is not so expensive. The L’Eau only lasted a few minutes on my skin, and both variations have the O.G. no 5 bones, but they’re wearing lace babydoll dresses instead of Chanel power blazers.

found a tall bottle on eBay.
    unexpected love at first sniff.
having tried the one in the classic Chanel bottle last Winter – it smelt like musky vanilla to me, a bit fusty and fluffy and of little interest to me that day. I couldn’t particularly feel the iris in that one and it faded to nothing within the hour.
this is an incredibly made perfume. I have a vintage Chanel No.5 EDT and she is one sassy broad. This isn’t a modernised version of her, as modern to me shrieks fruity floral or wallops of vanilla or vats of sweet patchouli. EP is still as sophisticated as her Grandma, she truly is.
citrus top notes, aldehydes a l’original and no.22. neroli.
    love the Chanel aldehydes.
such beautiful sweet iris. soft adorable Chanel iris, with rose and Ylang.
    clean green soapy creamy gorgeousness.
dries down together with woods and greens. she wafts up hints of my Mum (she wears No.5 a lot). and the dry down hints also to me that of L’apres l’ondee. swoon.
an unexpected pleasure after a week of Chanel wearing. 28 La Pausa and THAT iris. yesterday was No.18. bliss. heavenly.
Chanel make some very beautiful perfumes and this is one of them.
I have read a lot of comments about the type of person who might wear this from only young girls, to ladies in the boardroom. I am neither of those and it suits me, a slightly dishevelled busy Mum who lives in a small town in the English Lakes. I think anyone can wear this delightful perfume. it is timeless, ageless and not just for ladies.

Eau Premiere is No. 5 for those of us that don’t like No. 5! Tired of the mature matronly connotation that comes with the orignal No 5 we remember our mothers or even grandmothers wearing? This is a beautiful alternative choice if you want a Chanel with a nod to No 5. Here we have a light sweet soapy version of the original. While still coming off as mature and sophisticated when compared to the sweet fruity gourmand scents out there for younger gals, Eau Premiere is a womanly clean skin scent of a luxurious French bath soap. I could literally pour this into my bath tub and soak in it. Such a soothing and lovely scent.
At the first spritz, a subdued aldehyde emerges in a stark contrast to the original No. 5 which opens with distinct and unmistakable strong aldehydes. The aldehydic chemical aroma here is fresh but very wearable and not at all as strong as most aldehyde vintage classic fragrances such as No. 5, No. 22 (Chanel) L’air du Temps (Ricci) Arpege (Lanvin) White Shoulders (Evyan) First (Van Cleef & Arpels. Still it has so much in common with these aldehydes in that it comes off as clean, fresh, soapy and pure, like therapeutic scented water that relaxes you at a spa. Neroli and citrus follow the aldehydes and it’s a very beautifully rendered neroli scent, or lemongrass. Very fragrant and citrus floral. A good start.
A white and yellow floral scent dominates the heart of the fragrance. A beautiful and familiar ylang ylang from the old No. 5 is there, with a sweet almost fruity banana flavor to it. A Grasse jasmine is also in the floral mix, and a little rose bud, tincture of rose, just a touch of talc powder with rose scent. For me the florals are absolutely beautiful and not too heavy, mature, but at the same time not too soft and not too ephemeral.
As the fragrances dries, it’s a vanilla and sandalwood scent with a green touch of vetiver. I love the base notes in this fragrance and without the musk and the civet and the woodsier arrangement of notes from the original, Eau Premiere is not a chypre nor a musk. It’s very engaging without the civet which had to go since civet is so controversial in today’s perfume industry. Even as an artificial note, who wants to wear a dead animal recreated smell on their skin? This is so much sweeter and more feminine than the old No 5 which was unisex and warmer. This is cooler, more elegant, with a pristine and virginal air, like a young bride on her wedding day. But it’s totally a day wear fragrance meaning you can wear this to work, and it’s casual enough for casual wear but it does seem to want you to wear her with blouses and dressy shirts, not T Shirts with logos on it. It’s classy but not snobbish.
Fashions that go with this scent: skirts, mini dresses, cocktail dresses, or pant suits match up with this scent. I was thoroughly enchanted with Eau Premiere and can’t stop smelling my wrists. So nice. I love all the notes in it: the aldehydes, the neroli, the florals, the vanilla and sandalwood. All of the notes come together to play a beautiful melody. So there you have it. Looking for a pretty No. 5 without the civet and with a modern touch for the modern gal? This is it.

Chanel no5 PREMEIER is pure CLASS in a bottle. It is airy, a bit powdery, musky, clean, fresh but very sophisticated!! Almost a skin like quality to it. Very feminine. Good lasting power. Two spritz is more than enough. Subtle yet strong. My fave of all the chanel perfumes. Defo underrated. A very CLASSY, CLASSIC perfume xoxo

When I heard that Chanel was introducing a new fragrance that was a “lighter” version of No. 5, I was a little worried. Chanel No. 5 has been my favourite fragrance since I was 16 years old, and was given a bottle of the Eau de Cologne for my birthday. Why on earth would you attempt to re-tool it? Then I tested it, walked around for some time and feel in love all over again. It is, and it isn’t, Chanel No. 5 Light. For me, it is a lighter in spirit fragrance, joyous and happy. The florals are perfectly harmonious, and not overpowering at all. On me, it smells powdery but with a citrus twist, fresh and new. I wear it mostly during the day or at night in the Summer. It stays fresh and true (or is linear) for hours. I have the early version of this fragrance and, after reading reviews of the newer version, will stick with this one. I tend to prefer heavier fragrances in general, but this one simply makes me smile!

So I won a bottle and wore it around Christmas and yes I received compliments !!!. It exceeded my expectations especially as it was a blind buy and i’m glad that I took a leap of faith and got it. Now on to the fragrance.
If i’m honest I find it so well blended that I find it hard to pick out individual notes which are listed as rose absolute, jasmine, neroli and ylang-ylang. These are some of my most favorite florals and I do own other fragrances with these in them but Eau Premiere is in a class of it’s own.

My bottle is a 100 ml bottle and it looks exactly like the 2015 except that…. I purchased it in Canada in 2014 and the batch code confirms it was produced 2014-06. It opens with a blast of aldehydes, vetiver and tons of fizz. Thirty minutes later it has settled into a smooth almost cool, creamy powder floral vanilla and I cannot detect any musk in it whatsoever. Eau Premiere is not even remotely from the same universe as my vintage Chanel No.5 loaded with nitromusks. However, there is an echo of the original in it. There is no mistaking she is the original’s great-granddaughter. It is inoffensive but not without charm. I feel it suits women and men of all ages. Almost no sillage after thirty minutes. Close to the skin moderate longevity.

Comforting, strong, rosy, old timey, aldehydic, ladylike, the smell of romantic love, or the hope to find it. The closest thing I have to a signature scent, I guess, one third remains. I haven’t committed to a single scent yet.

I love the original no 5, but this interpretation is just horrendous. It is supposed to smell cosmopolitan and professional, but when I smelled it, it reeked of urine from dehydration. I will be giving away this perfume soon.
