Description

Carolina Herrera launches two new limited editions of the original CH (2007) and CH Men (2009) fragrances – CH Grand Tour and CH Men Grand Tour coming out in fall 2014. The fragrances are inspired by old, romantic, luxurious travel on trains in South America.

CH Men Grand Tour opens with vivid incense and Yerba Mate tea typical for Argentina. The heart captures spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Sensuality of the fragrance is provided by suede, which is in the base along with deep mahogany wood tones. The bottle is coated in dark crocodile leather and reminds of vintage traveling suitcases.

Hyped and not worth the ridiculous $300+ it’s selling for by eBay sellers looking to cash in on the hype. Just get vintage CH Men, not only is it a better fragrance universally loved by the ladies. But it’s also priced reasonably.
Keep in mind there’s a reason why fragrances are discontinued, and it’s usually because it doesn’t sell well. Sure sometimes a Fragrance gets discontinued because of notes falling under new regulations. But more often than not the reason for a Fragrance being discontinued is lack of demand. In other words, it’s not well liked by the masses. Such was the case with Grand Tour. Thst is until the hype train. Still, no amount of hype can change the fact this fragrance is nothing special. It’s nice but not a legend by any means.

I tested it yesterday, Love at first sniff like CH Men. Smells like original CH Men but less sweet and more spicy, warmer and somehow stronger. It is more grown up and mature than CH Men.

Fans of the regular CH Men should love this one as well. Grand Tour pretty much still has the unmistakable CH Men DNA, but this one is undeniably darker – more spicy, more leathery, and performance has amped up a few notches! So, for the people who dislike the performance of the regular Grand Tour is the answer, the only problem is you need plenty of luck finding this one. I actually prefer Grand Tour over the original because it’s much richer. I would wear the original during the day and wear Grand Tour at night, or even layer the two together for what I would imagine a killer combo! If you come across one snatch it without hesitation!

I find this scent to be just alright, doesn’t really last too long on me, but its perfect for a short evening walk or an evening movie type of scenario.
a good purchase if you get it at a great discount!

Bought this gem a few days ago at Eraman,KLIA Malaysia.
This is pure class in a bottle. I love how stunning the bottle looks, with that crocodile printed leather, gold plated cap & the box itself like a travelling luggage that business man use.
    Now, the scent.
My nose can really detect the spices + suede combination from the start until the ending. And after 3 hours, magic happens. It release some bittersweet scent that calming & sensual. And I believe this could be only work when you are indoor with the air conditioner functioning & at the cool place. Because based on my Fragrantican friend, Asrul Afrizal Anuar he used this only once & gave it to a friend after he noticed it become cloying when exposed to warm weather. I’ll keep this in the cool weather after his advice, for sure.
This is limited edition. At the Eraman shop I’ve bought also only have 2 units left. And luckily I’ve got the 1st batch production based on the manufacturing date. Lucky me.
My words, if you love great leather & spicy scents, go for this. You wouldn’t be disappointed, trust me.

    A modern refined man.
I have grown to like this scent a lot more over time. It’s not overtly leather, although the leather is there in a gentle way after the juicy opening. I get the spices right away too.
Inoffensive. Pleasant but not groundbreaking. Too unique to be a mass market scent. But nothing that different. Conservative, but conservative on an adventure. No S&M clubs on this vacation honey.
But how about, wear something clean & crisp, then go on a Grand tour? Great for a business trip. Or a trip to the museum. This is a great scent to file your taxes with.
Definitely understated class. This might not be the most exciting frag for everyone, but it is Carolina Herrera after all. So you really can not go too wrong.

2 Years back, I was in the Beautiful, Fairy-Tale town of Bruges, in Belgium. It’s a small town but has quite a number of executive chocolate shops. One, I distinctively remember and used to visit often is “The chocolate Line”. They create quite a lot of niche and exclusive chocolates. One of them was “Espellete”. It is actually bitter ganache with chilli pepper. The taste was bitter and dry spicy at the same time.
We often debate on the fact that whether perfumes are the best evoker of memories or not. Well, I left Bruges, almost 2 years. It’s not the fact that I dont remember and relive it. But, I have never come across any physical entity, which directly transports me or at least force me to remember Bruges. This does.
Grand Tour starts, a little bit chemical. I am not familiar with Mate, so wont be able to say it’s presence, nor do I get Incense. Though chemical, but, it somehow smells pleasant and fresh. Then the spices start developing. Dry, little harsh and very hard to distinguish each note. Like Soned, I also get the overall effect of Dry Cocoa. It mixes well with the spices and this is where it reminds me of my spicy chocolate in Bruges. Leather is there, just like in Suede, very soft. I get chinnamon. Doesnot change a lot in my skin, but remains there for quite a long time. A Pleaser.
    Sillage: Moderate.
Longevity on my skin: Approx 6 Hours
Longevity on fabric: Approx 6-7 Hours
Occasion: Quite versatile. Will say for a younger crowd, At least below 35. Can be worn at Office or Casually or at a Night Club. Can be worn year round, but better for cool weathers. Personally will make it my Casual Friday Night Clubbing Scent.
    Rating: 7.5/10

Just received this one in the mail today. I have to say that it’s different than I expected. I like it, but the leather is not as pronounced as I had anticipated. Its pleasant though and reminds me more of the original then I would have thought. It’s also lighter than I would have thought. But a pleasant scent.

CH Men Grand Tour is a worthy limited edition release flanking the often lauded and occasionally disparaged, CH Men. Of the four flankers surrounding CH Men (others include Sport, Africa, and Prive), Grand Tour is the best, and you will probably enjoy it if you are already a fan of the original, and it’s possible you’ll like it even if you are not. Grand Tour maintains the basic DNA of CH Men; a spicy sugar cane note over saffron and leather. However, the portions have been adjusted, and the leather (suede) note is stronger and more upfront than in the original. Furthermore, some vanilla has been added to the base, which compliments it well as it transitions from the darker mid. This is a darker and deeper version of CH Men. The opening is not as sweet as the original, since the sugar cane note has been toned down and the leather amped up. It is a solid leather note–clean and plush–and it lends some welcome maturity to the fragrance, while keeping it soft and sensual at the same time. The spices are more robust here as well, and they work in tandem with the leather to create a bolder, stronger character. Grand Tour just seems to have more dimension to it. While I’m a big fan of CH Men, in comparison to Grand Tour it does not feel as substantial, and Grand Tour really seems be of a superior quality. That’s not to say that I like it more–I still find CH Men a little easier to wear–but I can safely say that it’s worth the extra cash for Grand Tour, as you’re moving up along the quality scale. If I were to explain how I see the differences between the two fragrances, other than the notes, I’d say this: CH Men is a great fragrance to wear on a loose, casual night out. Grand Tour can be reserved for nights with a little more purpose or import. Grand Tour is a grown up’s version of CH Men, with a little more class, severity, and elegance.
Is it worth owning both? In my opinion, it is not. As my bottle of CH Men has become very close to empty, I will gladly replace it with a bottle of Grand Tour, as their effect is nearly the same and everything I loved about the original is still in tact. However, I’m ready to move up and find this limited edition will suit me well this winter and offer just enough of a change to keep things interesting. If you’re the kind of person that likes to own entire lines, then absolutely track this down and add it to your CH Men collection. You won’t be disappointed.
Projection is very good and longevity is excellent.

This is a better version of the original… hard to find though so get it! Prive is not even close to as good.

comparing to CH men, where there are sugar cane taste to it.
This starts with a clear suede leather with some incense. Strong !
Second phase it dries down to a mahogany + vanilla + leather vibe that reminds me of opening a vintage guitar case, or just a vintage leather bag.
(Hmm….I can certainly spray this on my leather goods, cases, and bags.)
It is still sweet but instead of sugar cane sweet, it is more of a vanilla sweet. Nutmeg, and spices.
Sillage seems to be less than than CH men. Due to the lack of the same sweetness and we all know sweet travels far. More mature, yes. The vanilla and mahogany gives it a warm sensual feeling.
Just behind all these scents hides the original CH Men quietly in the background. You would need to get close to your skin to see that behind the new vanilla suede , the atmosphere around you is still CH men.
I imagine one could put both CH men and Grand Tour on your body and they would compliment each other perfectly.
As a whole I like this fragrance so far. After loving CH men, I immediately got this bottle expecting it to take me for another journey.
It did not disappoint, on a journey I went!
I am a man carrying leather bags, leather whips, on a train…having vanilla ice-cream.
Watching the sugar cane field outside my window but can’t smell the sugar cane. I can see them though!
This is what Indiana Jones would smell like. Or any qualified crocodile hunter.
As the bottle suggests, the owner of the bottle have taken great lengths to skin a croc for the bottle. Gold plated Caps, sprays, and CH logo makes this bottle quite the catch.
I overspray to see if it gets cloying. 3 times on the same spot on both arms , a total of 6. Nope. It is just vanilla, leather. It doesn’t make me want wash it off. The original Ch men would give me a headache if I overspray due to the sweetness. This is less sweet.
    Do I like it?! Yes!
Happy that I bought it? Yes!
Limited edition means it is not mass marketed and you will be unique.
    Price? Around US$70
Out of Chanel’s Allure line. My favorite is eau extreme. If anyone smelt the drydown of that fragrance, this Grand Tour also has that thick vanilla, leather, nutmeg creamy sweetness about it.
Scent: 9/10 (further testings required for a 10, need to ask women)
    Sillage:8/10
Longevity: 7/10 (Without the sugar cane blast it quickly dries down to a skin scent of vanilla leather.)
“A scent is never a great scent if women don’t like it” -I made that up
I shall be wearing this to the closest women gathering and shall report back the results.
To women who has smelt this scent. Please enlighten us with your thoughts!
    Thanks in Advance!

Not for me…It was a scrubber…It has the DNA of the original CH MEN but this is sadly a frag with Indian food spices added. It takes a candy like scent and throws jerk chicken on it…I would’ve kept it because its a limited release but its doubtful people will want this years from now and I sold it as soon as possible…Ruined a great scent. I was hoping to have a slightly stronger CH MEN with complementary incense notes and its far from. To put it another way, this smelled so bad that it has affected my appreciation for the original CH MEN. Its just bad…The second worst blind buy Ive ever made…

Hi it was better than original version and smell very good and I think women love it because smell like unisex perfumes but longevity and sillage not good IMO !

Found this from a reputable seller on Ebay. Great looking bottle, love the juice. You can tell it is related to CH Men, but it is also the grown up version. Not as sweet, more smoke, wood, and a couple of of other things that make this much more complex. Really enjoy this one! Already getting compliments after wearing for just a few hours! If you have $75 and have been thinking about this one – GET IT!

A complete revolution on the original CH, i love the scent of the original but the performance is a huge disappointment, but this CHGT .. oh my!!
The scent, is even superior to the original, although they are not listed in the scent pyramid but the sweetness and leather are still very present here with the suede, nutmeg and vanilla and a few more notes that I can not recognize because probably i never smelt them before in my life!! The only take i have on this is the suede is little too much in the 1s hour to my nose, but after that it starts to fade away … all in all a breathtaking and mind blowing scent, particularly after the 1st hour
The performance, with the original i get one hour of performance and then it becomes a skin scent for a long time, but with CHGT … ladies and gentlemen meet the newest sillage, projection and longevity monster of the men fragrances.
First day i applied this i got 3 compliments, one of them was when im not even in the room, just the scent trail stayed there after im left for a decent amount of time that it made this person look for the source of this wonderful smell to know what is that!
Bottom line this is a brilliant revamp of the original that actually produced a fragrance that is more superior and beats the original in all the aspects!
Im still testing with this beauty but for now here are my ratings
    Scent 9/10
    Projection/sillage 10/10
    longevity 10/10
    overall 9/10

Finally got it from the eBay link on this page! Recommended by the way.
I’m oddly in love with the scent, usually it takes more wood for me to grow in, but the warm mahogany at the bottom just gets me. From far it smells to me a lot like the classic CH, but digging your nose in the paper scent or wrist you can tell the differences clearly. Suede is a must, and as in the description it gives it the sensuality as leather does in CH men.
The first time I smelled something interesting happened; I sprayed it on my right wrist and also sprayed CH on the left one for I was trying to compare. Smelled GT first, then the classic, then GT again, the result was surprising: I kind of got nose fatigue from the leather and woodsy notes and Grand Tour smelled completely nude and different, the incense and bitter matte was the main things I notices besides a harsh dash of nutmeg. I’m not sure I detected any spice, probably cardamom? Hard to tell with the cinammon and nutmeg combination. I invite you to try this experiment and share your results!
    Anyway, here’s the numeric review.
    Scent: 9/10
    Longevity: 10/10
    Projection: 11/10
    Trail: 9/10
Finally a male scent with epic longevity besides that Le Male JPG thing.
This was my first full review, hope you guys found it informative!

Love this scent. Smelled it in my hometown in Mexico and waited to come to the UStates in order to buy it at a cheaper cost… But I just couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. If someone knows where I can safely order it online, that’d be great. Really looking forward to this being my first purchase of the year.

This seems to be the “mature” version of the original. Top is completely different, not sweet. Very leathery, which is got listed as parte of the notes. The mid, gets sweeter, almost identical to the mid of the original, but again, with more leather. Now, the dry down on my skin, is tonka bean, dry cocoa and leather.
    Very nice indeed.
Long lasting, more mature and pleasing….but does not project as good as the original.

I have never tried a Carolina Herrera fragrance before but the notes to this one do look quite promising.. Incense, matte, spices, suede and mahogany.. It sounds pretty good, not to mention the concept of the train is very nice.. The bottle looks very nice to, it reminds me of Versace Man..

This scent isn’t as strong or as pleasant as the original CH Men. I smelled this a couple of days ago and if anything must be said, it smells more of leather than before, and it subtracts some of the sweetness from the original. Rather than being sexy, this can be a bit weird to most although not really smelling bad at all. To be honest, I’d rather buy a second bottle of CH Men rather than buying this one.
If I were to buy it, it would be to have all three from the line-up.

Here we go again. It is not even out yet, but we already have votes on “dislike”. Please don’t mess up the voting portion, gentlemen. Alot of us buys blindly base on the reviews and votes from this site, please don’t mess it up for other people that will be buying this online without smelling it.
Alot of us don’t have tons of money either, to afford buying a cologne that will just end up being given away or worse straigth to the trash bin. Let us help one another and be honest with our common interest/hobby. Let’s use this voting process properly ladies and gentlemen. Thank you.
