A wonderful fragrance for day ot night: not too light nor too heavy. Also, long lasting.
On me the vanilla notes are most prominent, which is why I buy it again and again.

This was a fragrance from my 90’s wish list that I finally have. This is very similar to Hanae Mori but I like Casmir better. It was love at first sniff! This is so sweet and rich with juicy stone fruits, warm spices, a hint of coconut, and lots and lots of vanilla. A cozy fragrance perfect for the coldest winter days. Scrumptious!

In 1995, I had just graduated from university and was working as a temp, barely making ends meet. I would window shop for entertainment, never buying anything, just dreaming.
I came across this at a perfume counter, loved the bottle, and tried some on. And Oh. My. God. I couldn’t believe how wonderful it was. It reminded me slightly of the Body Shop vanilla oil I wore as a student, but so much richer, so much more grown-up and sophisticated. I stood at the counter in a bit of a haze, calculating whether or not I could possibly get it.
Dressed as I was (poor young person), I’m sure I wasn’t very impressive to the saleswoman who happened upon me standing there in awe. In any case, she very snottily explained to me that the bottle I was holding was very expensive.
I don’t know what came over me, but to prove her wrong in her estimation of me, I asked her if the store carried the parfum version. Her tune changed pretty quick, and she reached behind the counter and retrieved a very small, very expensive bottle. I said I’d take it. I paid with the last of the money in my account, my grocery money,
It was a hungry month, but I never regretted it. Casmir is the smell of my adventures as a young woman out in the world for the first time. It doesn’t quite have the same effect on my nose nowadays (it’s not nearly so grown-up seeming now), but I still love it. It costs a lot less money than it did back then, too!

Hard to believe I made it through the 90’s without getting a tattoo or wearing Casmir, but here I am. I bought a vintage bottle off a trusted seller, I believe it’s from 2007.
Casmir opens with strong vanilla and zippy citrus notes, then turns to plastic baby doll head with a banana note (I’m with you @CherryDarling). I don’t pick up any other fruit, especially not a peach…. but no other fruits for that matter.
Soft and persistent, the plastic vibe finally departs in the dry down when I pick up more spices, coconut and benzoin.
I wouldn’t call it a gourmand, but it is a spicy vanilla. More Baklava than Birthday cake to me. I’m just not sure I am impressed. I will wear it a few more times before I make up my mind.
EDIT: I understand how Casmir can be polarizing, because I can’t get past the synthetic plastic toy and bizarre banana notes. Even though I love the bottle, I’ll be letting this go.
Mine is the original formula with Lancaster listed as the distributor.

I’ve spent today testing vanilla-based perfumes in preparation for autumn, and this one is going to have to leave my collection. I don’t get “doll’s head” or “bug spray” like others do. Rather, I get such an intense syrupy-peach experience that it literally makes me a bit dizzy! Yes, there’s vanilla here; yes, there’s a bit of cinnamon, too, but it’s primarily canned peaches in that sugary goo. Sillage is pretty wide for me; maybe over 6 feet. Longevity is also pretty good. But there are other vanillas I prefer waaaay more than this one. Very cool bottle though.

Ok so purchased this on a blind buying whim based on the reviews of this
Being a must have for vanilla enthusiasts. This is straight up impulse vanilla kisses the perfume edition for me. I kinda love it!
Wow what a hit of nostalgia in a bottle. The vanilla is definitely the first note that literally smacks you in the face, maybe it’s the fact that it’s only 7am and a tad early to be blind testing. But I’m wild like that lol.
If you love sweet syrupy vanilla this is one for your collection.

Bought this last year based upon notes and reviews here. I should love it, but all I get is (as others have noted) doll’s head with bug spray on it every time I try it. Just tried it again, and it is going to have to go. 🙁

Casmir is a warm full bodied perfume that always makes me feel wonderful .
The scent just gets better the longer you wear it. A must have for your collection.

Most of the blind buys I have made have not paid off too well , with the exception of Casmir. I can’t get enough of this fragrance ! I love the blend of vanilla and spices, which I could almost drink . It is uplifting to me . I actually do not find the drydown that intense or strong .
A few years ago I purchased a beautiful classic , Organza Indecence by Givenchy . I will always love that fragrance ( which gets lots of compliments ) and wear it on special days. When I opened the Casmir bottle , I had to wonder if Givenchy coped Casmir and refined it because I smell great similarity in the notes .
This is a great fragrance and the price is sooo inexpensive. It is one of my favorites, and one I am always in the mood to wear . It is a rather fruited version of Obsession to my nose, and a real comfort fragrance . Casmir also has some similar notes to Kenzo Jungle Elephant , though Jungle is a stronger fragrance .

Definitely one of my all time favorites! I tried this on a few years ago and after using it for a few times, I forgot it in a cupboard. Now I found it and it feels as great as it did the first time I tried it on. I won’t ever let it go from now on! Vanilla scents always mix perfectly with my skin, so this is a must for oriental fragrance lovers like I am. It’s an elegant, very exotic perfume and the longevity and sillage are just what I always want – not intoxicating but definitely noticeable to someone who stands close to you. It’s just the right perfume to be worn during the time when summer draws toward an end and the heat cools down. I wear this perfume as a warm cloth as autumn draws near.

I live in a coastal climate. This morning I decided to spritz some after awakening,,I’d forgotten how beautiful this little gem is! This has such a chewy warmth to it! If I sniff my wrist really close I get a faint leathery smell which is gorgeous! One of my favorite genres too! Oriental vanilla! I have the old version for what it’s worth..and it’s love!❤️

I don’t really find this fragrance warm or spicy, which surprises me. (the newer version) Top notes bring to mind syrupy peaches on a cool plastic plate. Very “doll’s head”, like a lot of other reviews mention. Incredibly sweet, almost too sweet. But interesting! Very 90s. I find it challenging and not cozy until the dry down, which is a fluffy vanilla. I like that part the best. It doesn’t smell exotic at all to me, but I like that it reminds me of the 90s. I kind of smell banana too.

  16. :

I get a banana note. Lots of balsamics and amber, vanilla, plus banana 🙂 I think my nose is taking the mango and coconut mixed with all the other random notes and getting confused and making out a banana.

Chopard Casmir – I have a vintage mini of this intoxicating, amber tinted liquid. Some one once called it “a Bollywood film in a perfume bottle” to be exact. The dry down is Smokey and Spicy. I love this scent so much, I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. It’s magical.

  18. :

I blind-bought Chopard Casmir about one year ago because on the paper I should have loved it for its notes and evolution. I tried it many times in very different situations (hot and cold weather, at home and outside, layering it, trying different bottles from different perfumeries, sprayed it on fabrics and in the air, etc.) but the result was always the same: to my nose the notes of plastic and gasoline are the main ones and they are absolutely awful.
Yes, I can smell gasoline in it (maybe from the benzoin?) for a while after the opening, and I can distinctively perceive the note of “doll’s head” that many reviewers pointed out. It remains in the drydown.
I didn’t give up immediately because of the many enthusiastic reviews, but now I must abandon this perfume for good. I’m a lover of oriental scents and this for me was a big disappointment.

This fume seems to bother men and isn’t that why many women wear perfume? Vanilla based, with a “far away” quality, fragrant, long-lasting, slightly decadent. I should wear it more often.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

What a beauty this is! A dark, non-sweet vanilla, very spicy and rich.
A lot of fruits are listed in the topnotes togeher with coconut, but I don’t really smell any of them individually. Maybe some (very ripe) abricots and peaches. They just give the perfume a sense of richness and lusciouness. Then comes the vanilla, resins and the spices. And how beautyfully blended they are. The effect is decadent without being edible. This is not a gourmand fragrance. If it was a dress, I think it would be a backless evening gown of bloodred, heavy velvet. Or some other fabric with a bit of heft. Very womanly, grown-up and with a bit of an edge. I can’t wear a causally, it needs a certain level of dressiness imo. It can work on a summer evening, but I reach for it more in the colder season.
This is very inexpensive (20€/30ml) but I think I would pay niche prices for this little gem.
I love, love, love this fragrance.

Sweet ,spicy, comforting vanilla. Really reminds me of Vanilla Fields, which I wore and loved years ago. Definitely not an everyday scent but perfect on those days I just need a boost and don’t want to eat a gallon of Ben and Jerry’s 🙂

  22. :

Wow! I’ve been avoiding this since I thought it would be a cheap, sweet mess. How wrong I was! Got a vintage mini and the smokieness with the vanilla is just gorgeous! And pretty brutal (which I like), the incense and spices are raw and hard against the vanilla! Not at all the sweet scent I was expecting. All in all, interesting, warm, adult.
Drydown the next morning is generic sweet, will now have to find out how long the good part lasts as put it on a couple of hours before bed.
Anybody has compared vintage against new?

I was looking to try a classic scent on a budget so I did some online research (I am fussy) and discovered Chopard’s “Casmir”. I was able to purchase a big 100ml bottle from Amazon UK cheaply. Once delivered I loved the red box. It promised passion and warmth however on first spray I was severely disappointed. It was overwhelming and not something I’m used to with today’s fragrances. I left the bottle untouched for months until once again I got the craving to search out a new to me perfume. Then I remembered that I had bought Casmir. I sprayed it once on my arm. Gave it a minute and it was rich, warm and opulent. When I smelled it again on my arm an hour or so later it was lovely. Casmir is a scent for a warm with a warm heart and strong mind. I don’t think it would be so suitable for the younger lady.
To sum it up I would say that this scent is a grower. A long growing relationship not a fast fling. A 90’s classic and one a confident woman should have in her collection.

What is this?! It’s a miracle! It smells like being wrapped in fluffy blanket while drinking a chai latte and eating caramels in front of a fire. It’s so cozy and inviting.

  25. :

Casmir is so mouthwatering.. I’m the lucky one who gets the fruit! It’s juicy apricot wrapped in vanilla, cinnamon, tonka and benzoin.. Interestingly, I don’t get any coconut from it. It’s warm, boozy, thick and has an oriental vibe. Casmir feels like a cozy blanket on a cold winter day.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

I have only smelled it from the bottle and I did get a bit on my hands and I can say it is quite a strong perfume!!
It smells exactly how the title suggest, a very Cashmere vibe going on. It is a bit dated perhaps? I can’t decide what I think. But if it has great longevity and projects it seems like I would be wearing it in the dead of winter, not spring which is what we are coming into where I live.

  27. :

Casmir is a rich, sweet, velvety and well blended Oriental beauty. I respect it immensely. Yet I can’t wear it out of the house! It’s a fragrance I adore, but I don’t want to smell it on myself all day. I prefer to wear it at home, when I can savour it for a few hours alone and then shower it off when it starts to cloy, which the spice and peach blend is prone to on my skin.
Syrupy, stewed peaches and cinnamon initially. I also detect cardamom. In fact, I feel like I’m surrounded by Indian sweets when I wear this. The dry down is vanillic, powdery and less bold.
Casmir is a very special scent. But you have to really love sugar and spice to wear this regularly.

i dont know what someone could like in this perfume so heavy I am getting head thick every time I wear it. Possible this is one of those scents you like or don like no middle.

  29. :

First spray I get lots of coconut and it stays dominant for first two hours. Than the creamy vanilla with slightly powdery fruity notes overtake. But cononut it’s still strong. It’s so beautifully blended and creates a soft yet noticeable oriental aura around you. I think it would work really nicely with males skin too.
Also: I think it’s worth mentioning, I have a friend who’s really not into orientals and think they’re too heavy, too overpowering. Well, this one he actually approved and said he’d love to smell this on a woman on a summer night…

Bourbon vanilla is prob the best way to put what this perfume smells like for me. Its not my cup of tea. I like’d it but it was some kind of sniff in the background… that wasn’t for me. I think it is the bourbon smell. I like vanilla but yeah… my mom like’d it and one of her best friends to, so I think my mom is going to get this one. 🙂

Beautiful bold and exotic fragrance. Not for the faint of heart. If you like orientals and chypres this may be your bag. It is a bit brash at first. One of the reviews side bourbon vanilla with hints of peaches and I think that is on the nose if you add a healthy hit of patchouli and spicy musk. This is like a warm spicy hug and I love it for crisp fall and winter days and nights!

In Brazil it has disappeared altogether, the only way i could find is buying a bottle that was on the window of a shop, fully exposed to the sun, dirty, without box. I bought it blind and, amazingly, since it was very old (many years) it was still ok. fantastic perfume, long lasting and over the top, but amazing. And my usual peach anosmia doesn’t apply to it.

  33. :

Somebody described this perfume as “Bollywood”. It’s exactly that. Way too much colours, way too much jewlery, way too much singing and dancing, way too much everything in overdose and yet, can’t stop watching till the end. It’s carefree, fun, fluffy, sunny, conforting, warm, cocoon, the definiton of the extreme vanilla gourmand oriental drowned in apricot and peach jam. I think it’s a great addition to an austere outfit, like a splash of colour (but I like contrasts between perfumes and outfits). It lacks some depth and even a bit of class, but who cares, a peach tart is for your own pleasure not the governor’s ball. And strangely enough it comes at record (low) prices. Chopard’s site still mentions it but does not sell it. I found mine on Amazon UK, came in box without plastic wrap but intact, brand new and the smell is exactly what I remembered since back when it was launched. If it’s on the verge of disappearing we should all make stocks because it’s fully worth it.

I would never known I actually like sweet vanilla fragrances if I didn’t try Casmir … I can’t remember out of curiosity or boredom. I always was a die hard straight-forward, no-nonsense, no frills chypre girl. However, Casmir was a magnificent introduction to a sweeter and softer approach to life. It was long time ago. I shall revisit this gem again. I loved it, but never repurchased when it’s finished. Today I love my sweet oriental fragrances thanks to Casmir, a true masterpiece of vanilla oriented orientals…lol… Warm, cosy, chic, luxurious and intoxicating…

I was looking forward to this but after trying a sample I must say that it is not for me. It is very, very sweet vanilla and heavy peach. But heavy in annoyng way that after wearing it for a while it can be quite weary. I love orientals, but unfortunatly this one is not for me. If you like sweet friut and spicy fragrances go for it.

I don’t know if my sample was turned or if it’s this bad how it smells…wow…can’t explain in words how disappointed I was when I smelled it.
I planned buying a full bottle of this because of the notes & reviews on here, but I’m so grateful I didn’t!
Smells like a mouldy peach marmelade made with sucrose. Ew ew ew.

I allready had Chopards Wish, which I love, so I wanted to give this one a try and blind bought it. I was intrigued by the notes, polarized reviews and the beautiful bottle. While I do like this overall, it has some notes in it I dislike.
It’s actually funny how I find myself drawn to scents like this, that are kind of opposite of my personality and appearance in a way: I’m quiet, cool, a little distant and mysterious introvert (on the outside and in public, at least) with fair skin and lean body. So you might imagine a warm, rich, sultry perfume in a golden and yellow bottle wouldn’t be right up my alley, right? It’s like I want my scent to tell people that “hey, don’t be fooled, I’m a warm and passionate woman on the inside even if I might seem like an ice queen” 😀 I remember reading somewhere that introverted people in general DO prefer oriental scents, by what’s been studied.

This was blind buy based on frangatica’s reviews. I did not regret it at all. This is more mature and “different” than other vanilla scents if this word fits right. I like it better on skin rather on clothes. I sprayed twice in the morning before going to work and when returned home after six hours my boyfriend asked me what I was wearing, so that was good.
It lasts all day with moderate silage.
It reminds me a little jean paul gaultiers classic, maybe because they are both 90’s scents…
If you like vanilla scents and want to try something more sophisticated and less girly then you’ve got to try it.

Yet another blind buy (from Amazon Canada), based off my love of vanilla and the raving reviews of my beloved fellow Fragranticans.
So, so glad I added this one to my collection. Rich, sweet, creamy vanilla & peach is predominantly what I smell. I own and love Hanae Mori (both the eau de parfum and pure perfume), and I must agree with some in that Casmir & Hanae Mori are very similar.
Upon first spray, I don’t *love* the scent if I press my nose up to my skin. Thankfully, nobody really walks around like this, and once that initial blast dies down, the scent that wafts up is so incredibly delicious – sweet, yet not sugary, in the most alluring, lovely way. While projection is moderate, I find this juice incredibly long lasting, and can smell it on me all day long.
Because I’ll never go through my collection in this lifetime, I don’t normally consider buying a backup, but considering this is discontinued and getting harder to find, I just might have to.
Absolutely beautiful, and for vanilla lovers only.

I have read exceptional reviews for this perfume, so I will not repeat other reviewers’ words even if I absolutely agree with them.
Here I would only add that being familiar with the 90s’ scents I have been in love with “Casmir” for over 20 years.
My sister-in-law, however, who is younger than me, had no knowledge of it.
I bought her a bottle the other day and she completely adored it because of its – and I quote – “rich sweet and aristocratic smell”.
Maybe it is high time newer generations found out the differences between the fragrance fashions of the past decades.
Anyhow, bravo to “Casmir” for still surprising our noses after 25 years, not being advertised yet “still alive” within a variety of old and new scents!

I was not blown away by the fragrance on paper, but on skin it’s a very different story. It just completely blooms into something rich, boozy and elegant. So warm.
Don’t be afraid that the spices in this will make you smell like Christmas; they add depth and complexity, but never overpower the resinous vanilla that drives this scent. It’s also not a scent that becomes cloyingly saccharine – instead, it’s a deep and earthy sweetness.
A little bit goes a long way since it has a better than average sillage and great lasting power. On top of that, the price is a total steal. I would absolutely pay more for this fragrance, it’s just that good.

  44. :

100% reminds me of Ylang or ylang in gold by M.Micallef. I can see this being considered a “sexy” or “sultry” fragrance. It feels very warm and enticing. If you wear this perfume you may have people leaning in for an extra hug or two.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

Casmir is such a warming, sweet, oriental scent, it’s perfect for dark and grey autumn days. It has an old-school vibe to it and is very recognizable as it’s been popular for many years.
I get lots of vanilla, resins, cinnamon, tonka and sandalwood, with just a hint of carnation, coconut and some fruits, mainly apricot. To me it’s more balsamic than fruity. It has something dry about it, to me it’s more powdery/dusty than creamy in texture. I find the name very fitting, it’s something that smells especially good with a big warm scarf or a soft sweater. Real cashmere or not, maybe it can make a regular old scarf feel a bit more cashmere-like when you wear this.
This is so warm it can be a bit much sometimes. It’s a strong and lasting perfume. If you love warm and sweet vanillic scents and aren’t opposed to something that’s more classic oriental than modern gourmand, you should try Casmir. It’s cheap nowadays, that’s another plus. If you’re more into fresh or non-sweet scents, try with caution, it can be polarizing.

I think I would have liked this perfume if I found it earlier, but I bathe my dog weekly and it smells exactly like his shampoo and conditioner — Isle of Dogs Silky Oatmeal – with jasmine and vanilla. He smells delectable, but when I smell my arm with this on, I think of my dogs shampoo and conditioner.

This is like utter sublime divine creaminess in a bottle. Creamy creamy goodness! I feel like it’s the predecessor to Givenchy Organza Indecence (which is my fave and I still have the original formulation in my ever growing collection).
However, I have stopped wearing it because it seems too heavy handed in the vanilla department for this ol’ olfactory. I feel like it needs to be cut or watered down with something, anything. Now it’s just a vanilla bomb. That makes it dated for me but Casmir will always remain a classic in my heart. And being the nostalgic person that I am, I bought the shower gel to get the collection going. And it smells quite delicious on my skin so hopefully, the perfume, like with many others, has not been reformulated! Or, maybe in this case, a little bit of change will make it more palatable to my nose!

  49. :

    4 out of 5

    Oh Casmir, you 90’s throwback!
This is a big, deep, resinous BOMB of a fragrance. Casmir huge and ripe and lush. Lots of creamy vanilla and tonka that are a bit linear, but appealing. This is one of Michel Almairac’s best fragrances and it’s the starting point for some of his later stuff like Jil Sander No. 4 and Gucci Rush.
This is a warm, cuddly sweater of perfume. It’s definitely of its era (imagine someone launching this in today’s fruit/patchouli world). However, it’s not dated. It’s a classic that reflects its era.

When I first smelled this many years ago, i didn’t like it. I found it too cloying.
That was then, and this is now! love it.
I have to say that sweet fragrances have become an acquired taste for me over the years, and to be worn in in cooler weather…figuring that one out also takes time.
This would not be a fragrance I would wear to work, but out for a romamtic evening…yes!
    decent price too.

I had a bottle of this and only wore it a few times so gave it to a friend. The carnation always bothered me, so I only wore it when the allergy season was done. This past year I have craved vanilla and patchouli, separately, together, any way I can get either one. This prompted a rebuy of Casmir. It is strange, but our noses and perceptions must change because the bothersome carnation is no longer a problem. This is a gorgeous vanilla bomb and I love it. It is a bit much for extremely hot weather, but is still nice for summer nights. Casmir has a slightly smoky edge and is a floral sweet, as opposed to gourmand sweet. Someone mentioned they cannot smell the fruit, and I would agree with the exception of the peach as it opens. Projection and longevity are both very good, and the price is right. When paired with the lotion, it lasts the day. I have both the Lancaster and Coty versions, and do not notice much of a difference. If anything, I think the Coty is a bit stronger although there could be a newer Coty that has been watered down. I now cannot imagine being without Casmir, and look forward to a long vanilla based friendship.

Not one of my usual types, nor is it one of my favourites. It is, however, floral vanilla toffee in a spray, and quite suitable for most occasions. Reasonable sillage, and quite long lasting, this wouldn’t offend anyone at the office, and it smells warm and delicious.

  53. :

I think i have several other perfumes that remind me of this one,
    Dalissime from Salvador Dali
5th avenue style from Elizabeth Arden
dalissime is fruitier while 5th avenue style is sweeter
this one is more powdery while in the same time remains spicy because of the cinnemon and an quite unusual smoothy feeling, i guess it’s from the coconut.
Vanilla is quite strong, but not sugary vanilla.
anyway, i think this one is great staff
just dislike the bottle, takes too much space

  54. :

For some reason, I don’t know why I thought this would be an oriental scent, it really is not. This has a good bit of sweetness on first spritz..a warm sweetness..but not a bakery sweetness; the spicy notes keep it from becoming a bakery-type sugar bomb. But this is a warm, comforting, sweet yet not saccharine overload sweet. Not cloying. Nothing synthetic smelling about this one. I see some reviewers noting an early 90’s vibe from this, and I guess that is true. Definitely a scent that ‘takes you back’ in time, in a good way.
This was a blind buy for me, and I was sort of expecting this to be a powerhouse scent, it is not. It is moderate. Lasts pretty much all day. Great in particular for Fall and Winter, but I’ve even been wearing this during this current Summer season. I do like this, I even love it actually, but I do wish the sweetness was taken down a notch; IMO it would be nice to pick up the spicy notes a little bit more.
But still, a lovely, warm, sweet (hello, vanilla!!) fragrance. I dig the bottle design. It is simple and classy and I like the very subtle embossed design on the top. Comfortable in the hands and easy to spray, which my bad wrists appreciate.

Upon application this smells almost identical to Hanae Mori Hanae Mori (which I used to own and know quite well). Then the drydown is freakishly similar if not identical to a body spray I used to own by Australis called ‘Vanilla Dream’, making this scent quite nostalgic. A bit too sweet and headachey for me but I can why some might enjoy this.

Cashmir has been on my want list for a loooooong time. Like, years. I figured that someday I’d blind buy it because it’s next to impossible to find it anywhere in person to test or buy. Anyway, a friend from a Facebook Perfume collectors group generously sent me a decant.
I noticed 3 things immediately… 1.) This inspired a lot of early-mid 90’s fragrances. I can see that now. It smelled familiar but this came before the perfumes it reminded me of.
2.) Men love it. Like, they love it a lot. lol I had two strangers and my husband compliment me in the first wear.
3.) Sadly, the peach note bugged me. For some reason, my skin just amplified this note and it was note cute to my nose. It smelled like canned peaches in heavy syrup. ‘Twas even a twinge metallic… as in, like, peaches tin and all.
For reason number 3 and 3 alone, Cashmir will not be a FB purchase. It does remind me of a fragrance that I really like Carla Fracci Gissel only I like Gissel better because it’s sans the canned peaches and has a bit more coconut. But they really are strikingly similar and yet I LOVE that one! Funny how a note or two can make a world of difference.

Nice surprise! Love the vanilla here. I don’t get much fruit just a nice earthy warm vanilla! Similar but much better than Vanilla Fields.,,Smoother. Not vintage to my nose. Very relevant and wearable, timeless!

I am sampling a mini EDP of the Lancaster version.
I think I am squarely in my gourmand, gourmandiental, make me smell like the most bite-worthy, creamy vanilla-infused French patisserie phase, what with Guerlain Mon Précieux Nectar and all.
In addition to the vanilla, Casmir is boozy at the opening, fruity and spicy, with a slightly rough texture of benzoin and patchouli as it develops. Whatever sandalwood is used is not the smooth type. Chopard, the version I have, is not overwhelmingly vanilla at all.
As with any fragrance with spice, this is what my skin amplifies, so it is not a fragrance I can put my nose right to and huff. Nostril burn. Still it’s quite nice, if not as delectable and smooth as Mon Précieux Nectar or M.Micallef Ylang or even Prada Candy. Indeed, it is nothing like them.

I am not sure what to think about Casmir. I wanted it for a long time, but there is so many perfumes on my list, that it simply had to wait. I finally got it few days ago, expecting it to smell something like Tocade, which is the only vanilla perfume i can tolerate.
Well, i was disappointed. I sprayed Casmir without even sniffing it or testing it on my wrist, and i was immediately sorry. It made me feel cheap. It reminded me of my first and only visit to an Avon store some 15 years ago, when i tested their vanilla fragrance called Far Away, and hated it!
We were going to the mall, and i had this pungent, synthetic, cheap, linear perfume on (or so i thought), and i was quite mad about it. At one point i couldn’t take it anymore, and at the same time i was about to ask hubby to return home so i can wash it off, he said that Casmir smells like a smokey, boozy vanilla, and it was simply intoxicating. So, with that, to the mall we went.
At the mall, weirdest thing happened. I started getting compliments to my perfume. People would stop next to me and say : “Hey you smell great!” Now this may seem like a normal thing elsewhere, but in Phoenix, Arizona, the land of the rednecks, this doesn’t happen often. In fact, ony one other time i got the compliment on my perfume, and it was Alien by Mugler.
So, Casmir seems to be more intoxicating to those around you, then it will be to you, really. As for me, personally, all i smell is cheap vanilla, and nothing else. Despite the compliments, i think i won’t try this until the winter again, because in Ar
