I don’t always have to keep buying fragrances thanks to friends who spoil me with perfume. Thank You Lysette in France for giving me this gift, this divine perfume by Chopard. Cascade is a waterfall in the South American jungle, one that catches your eye with it’s exotic beauty. I see the Amazon river, mist and a cascade of water falling over a steep slope of rocks. It helps that the bottle’s stopper is meant to look like a waterfall! Night orchids are in bloom under the moonlight and in the distance the song of birds and jungle animals plays as if it were a concert. I was so enchanted with this perfume. Starts with a fruity floral blend of grape fruit blossom and citric mandarin. Before long the fruit turns to spice. It’s spicy with pepper and that’s what I feel gives this perfume a South American flavor. It’s like something out of Brazil. It’s sexy. Reminds me of the erotic movie WILD ORCHID with Jacqueline Bisset, Carre Otis and Mickey Rourke. This is not a jungle full of beasts. It’s a floral jungle. The orchid is the strongest accord. The pairing with the night blooming cereus, which is a cactus flower works great as far as chemistry in this fragrance. I have never experienced cactus in perfume but now I have and it’s lovely. This is not very strong. I would say it’s lightly scented and a skin scent. But I’m getting an evening perfume vibe and will wear this to parties or whenever I want to smell great during a red eye flight without my perfume hitting anyone’s noses. The bottle I was gifted is their largest size, 75 mil. It looks like an piece of objet d’art of home decor that you’d find a mantelpiece over a fireplace. I wonder if I should put it on my mantelpiece and whether or not it would affect the fragrance’s potency. I think it wouldn’t be a problem because this wears like an eau de toilette and under cool climate control temperature it would be well preserved. I love this perfume and recommend it, ladies. This is feminine, soft, exotic, glamorous and beautiful. I will cherish it as long as it lasts. And it will last me a long time.

First of all the bottle is very attractive. Yes pretty. Then the scent. I agree it is very safe, laid back feminine scent but I really love it.
Creamy, sweet, delicate ambers and florals…very me…nice for a wedding or for church or for a meeting or for a romantic stroll
It must be the chemistry because it sits well with me and smells great. I like to layer this with other elegant scents too. Cascade needs to be admired, enjoyed and it is such a useful and pretty perfume that there should not be any complaints made against it.
    Enjoy 😉

I don’t find it overly too interesting, it is a musky floral with a hint of spiciness , woodsy. very feminine, it smells womanly, yet I didn’t take to it..the fragrance is a bit cold also, mind you it is stylish…Chopard is a brand that just doesn’t work for me, I feel the scents wear me more than I wear them…Cascade is pretty, yet leaves me unimpressed…

    It is familiar the smell.
    Not different than other perfume.

Velvety smooth and creamy floral with a sparkling opening of mandarin and just a pinch of pink pepper…
Very pleasant, soft sillage but unfortunately lacks longevity.

To me this is a fragrance from the same category as Cinema by YSL: some fresh notes of clementine together with some sweet, warm notes of amber, vanilla and musk. I think this is quite pleasant and the notes, although very different blend together in a very nice way. It smells feminine, classy and expensive. Unfortunately, this contains musk, which I’ve found to be a headache-inducing ingredient for me and the more I smell musky fragrances, the faster my head begins to hurt – it’s probably partly a conditioned response. If you don’t have problems with musk though, try this out: it’s a nice fragrance. Try this out especially if you like Cinema and want to wear something similar but different from time to time. This one is a lighter fragrance though – not as much silage as Cinema.

This Eau de Parfum was a gift from my boyfriend, he remembered very well I wanted it. So ofcourse added a good memory to the fragance.
Aside from that, I really love it. It’s a subtle, sweet and creamy perfume. Although it doesn’t last more than 5 hours on my skin, it stays good in my clothes so it’s always there.
I do think that the fragance will work even better in warm weather, because it suits the fragance very well. I’m headed to the south of France in 2 weeks and I’m carrying her with me for sure. I simply love it.
And another thing…. the bottle is simple and elegant, I love the pink glass, it’s so girly 🙂

It is a very pleasant fragrance, but definitely not luxurious; it makes me think of a pencil skirt and nice cashmere sweater matched with nice earrings, rather that celebs sashaying down the red carpet wearing Chopard jewellery.
It is somehow suspended between being strictly a day and a night fragrance; too meek for night use, too warm and orchidy for the day.
The scent is very creamy, and lies on my skin really nicely. The burnt notes towards the end SheShe mentioned make me think of good quality cocoa. I can imagine it used more in the fall/ winter; and could fancy buying a full bottle, even though it isn’t particularly interesting, if not for the fact that it absolutely lacks staying power on my skin. We’ll see how I feel about it once the sample ends.
Edit: OK, so it grows on me. The staying power is not as tragic as I initially thought (3h+), and the fragrance is buttery and pleasant, good for a nice, lazy Saturday at home, when wearing any other scent feels too demanding.

Too overpowering and suffocating, I would not agree there is anything on the luxury side to it. There are plenty of better-structured perfumes in the market with similar composition. Not my cup of tea…

Ok I admit for whatever reason I had to have this freakin bottle. The notes also sounded good so I finally broke down and purchased it after much internal debate. I still like this bottle, and I like the scent. I’ve had it for a bit and have scarcely worn it at home. To me it smells much like Mackie but with heavy vanilla (I know it’s not in the notes but it definitely has that vibe). I really like Cascade, I’m not going to be wearing it a lot but it holds a certain endearing quality (and I’m not a big fan of Mackie). If you like that sort of scent, it’s worth the bottle alone…even though I feel like I might break the lid everytime I wrestle with it. It makes me smile. 🙂

A tropical floral with cool, powdery overtones. Not very longlasting, which to me, is a plus. I love a heady flowery fragrance but I don’t want it to be too cloying or hang around for two days and infiltrate all my clothing (yes, Fracas, I do mean you).
Blind buy. Chopard fragrances almost never disappoint me. Beautiful bottle. The top is metallic, though the illustrations give the impression of gemstones.

I had this one last summer and decided to order a new bottle because I was craving it, and had a feeling I would love it even more this time around.
A sensual frag, very clean feeling, and a syrupy sweetness. Absolutely edible, comforting, soothing, and erotic.
It has almost no sillage and the lasting power is honestly really bad. It still wears as a great skin scent, and would probably only work in the Spring & Summer, it is too light and fleeting for winter and fall.
After recently acquiring a bottle of Birmane I would have to agree with SheShe, it immediatley reminded me of Cascade but is much longer lasting (12+ hours on skin) and has more sillage.
I would say if you love Cascade but need it to be a little stronger, try layering it with Birmane.

I’m very glad I’ve finally managed to put my hands on a Cascade sample because the fragrance was on my “to test” list for a long long time and I couldn’t find a sample anywhere.
I like orchids in perfumes very much and here I have it as a prominent note. I can also detect wood, something that may be the cereus – that’s why the orchid is with mix of something – also a bit of pepper (not too much), mandarin orange, musk… drydown hasn’t come yet, but I’ll update news about it and lasting power when the time comes.
My overall impression is that Cascade is cosy, sweet, powdery, very creamy – with a slightly burnt note. Actually it reminds me a bit about My Insolence – but it’s paler – as if the orchid with cereus maybe were in exchange for the berry note in My Insolence. Cascade is like a pale pink light fabric but I don’t consider the fragrance 100% warm even if it’s cosy and powdery… there’s a touch of cold in it, like a cold satin – strange, it’s warm and cold altogether in heart and head notes 😉
So my update: the drydown came and I must say Cascade became definitely warm then and… similar to L’Instant de Guerlain, edp version! I’m surprised. Now it’s not that Cascade is a two Guerlains copycat, no. It’s different but brings them two to my mind simply. I perfer the drydown note the best – I’m an Instant de Guerlain lover and My Insolence isn’t loved by me because of a similar burnt note Cascade on me has. But I do admit Cascade, although it isn’t multi-layered, but rather simple fragrance, is interesting, worth trying, well done. It’s a kind of pale pink fragrance in top and heart notes and a brown one in base ones.
Ah, and burnt traces disappear in base.
    Fragrance: 4,5/5
    Sillage: 4/5
    Lasting power: 4/5
    Bottle like a jewellery 🙂
Edition: the more I wear it, the more it brings VC&A Birmane to my mind, but of a worse quality. Actually I’m torn to buy a bottle or not – because the fragrance wears good, but it’s simple (not much happens).
Edition 2: I couldn’t resist. I’ve ordered a bottle. My sample comes to an end. So there must be something to it – the orchid and amber are nice here, making the fragrance a bit chocolate-y.

I am sorry to say this but this fragrance has nothing to do with a floral woody musk category.
It smells like a proper oriental vanilla to me, which I do not mind by the way 🙂
It opens with lovely pink pepper and mandarine orange and then it becomes really orchid-vanillic without any musky undertone.
There might be a hint of woods there but it is strictly vanilla fragrance, even though vanilla is not listed here 🙂
Cascade is a soft powdery sweet fragrance for everyday wear.
I am not reporting any issues with longetivity or silage, the fragrance has a nice silage and it lingers nicely on my skin for a good 6 hours time, a bit longer if I layer it with a Cascade body lotion.
Cascade is a bit magic and sometimes it makes me feel as if I was wrapped in a soft cotton candy. Again, it is not a problem to me as I am a declared gourmand lover!
(That is why I would recommend it to gourmand or oriental-vanilla lovers.)
P.S. A few days later, still testing and must add that I got addicted to Cascade. It has that unusual note coming from heart that makes me sniff my skin all the time.

I found the bottle design rather hard to handle. I guess I finished around half the bottle and then gave it away. First I liked the scent of the Belle de Nuit flower, but after half the bottle I had enough and decided that it isn’t my cup of tea. Somehow I found it too “sticky” or too cloying.

Further to my first review, I just have to add, I thought that this was going to be another fruity concoction but am just so surprised, how unusual it is, it is so much more! I detect something like Agent Provocateur’s Strip maybe, then at other times Gucci’s Flora, maybe it’s the amber that gives it that heaviness but it changes down into something so exquisitely soft and pretty, it is just so bizarrely wonderful. Sure it has the fruity thing happening as well but there is something else magical also, a boozy, fruity, jammy rum soaked custardy cake but also sophistication. Mmmmm, mmmmm!!!

Finally I got to try this! It is quite unusually lovely, reminds me a little of a fragrance Karl Lagerfeld did in the seventies/eighties – KL, after it had softened down after a few hours. Lovely citrus sophisticated, European type scent.

The first thing that attracted me is the bottle designe really very great the scent is very light and soft.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

The first thing that struck me about this perfume is how creammmmmmy it is. It’s like a creamy orange (Or in this case mandarin) scent. There’s a breath of flowers there too and it’s quite unsual.
It has a dull sweetness too it also. The main note is that orangey citrus I can smell, but it’t not a biting citrus scent, it’s being tempered down by the flowers and sweetness. The orchids adds more sweetness.
    This perfume is smooth.
It’s nice and pretty, in cool bottle, I like it but I don’t think it’s amazingly special.

I was hooked at first sniff by this one, but it didn’t last long.
It is very nice, creamy, soft and seductive, but it doesn’t stand in time.
It gets weaker and weaker and also very uncomplex and a little on the cheap Barbie-side.
Too bad. I would have liked it from first notes and bottle.

This was a short and crazy lovestory with no happy ending..
I fell in love with this instantly, this sweet creaminess, a little vanilla, spice and musk. It is pretty much what it comes out like on my skin for the first 20-30 minutes, and despite being a little too simple and not complex enough for my taste, I was enchanted then and probably would be again and again, it seems to suit me well and pretty much be what I had been looking for without knowing!
The longer I wear it the more vanillary it gets, the other notes blend in relentlessly,
and after half an hour at maximum it gets more and more plain and flat.. then more flat.. fat.
From then on it gives me a cheap & sluggish impression. With my chemistry it develops to this generic kind of heavy, very badly made vanilla perfume that you could buy at a dollar store for a tenth of the price.
If I could buy this and only get the first 20 minutes of this scent, I’d be absolutely sold, but what this perfume and my skin do together is a really sad story with a nasty outcome.
Lastly I have to say that sillage and staying power are great, and for the next 6hrs+ I can smell it really well! It’s a real pity it so does not work on me.

I tried it today while meeting a friend. I was wondering what smelled so scrumptious, until I realised it was me wearing Cascade.
Cascade is a mellow mixture of dewy and sweet notes. I can not find any woods in it. Later on it gets creamy and even sweeter, but not in a foody way.
Maybe more for the romantic type, reminds me somehow of an jaunty evening at the theatre. Smelling it I think of the red curtains, lovely gowns and the sweet excitement before the play begins.
Definatly elegant but not too complicated, very feminine but not screaming sexy.
It will surely not become my signature scent, but it will be a charming experience once in a while.

this one is lovely. i was initially attracted to its bottle which is very glamorous and i fell in love with it from the first time i tried it on me. it does smell similar to dior addict in the begining, but the drydown is different. it’s not that strong and it is somehow sweeter, like chocolate sweeter. it is definetly on my wishlist for 2010 🙂

Long lasting reminds me Dior addict. Love it! Bottle is not that original but this perfume was hard to find. i think Chopard is very different from others and when everyone buys Guerlain I prefer Chopard. I’m really addicted to it.

Nice, sweet, creamy but nothing special. I tested it a few days ago in a shop and I was sure to buy it but then I got a bit disappointed. There is a note in that scent that disturbs me but I don´t know which one it is.I won´t buy it.But the bottle is really nice though.

Interesting…. it’s lovely, sweet, very warm, but unfortunatelly i think it doesn’t go with my skin chemistry. It smells somewhat cheap and very simple on me, like any of the worse celeb-scents. HOwever, I’m sure it can smell fantastic on others.
The bottle looks not nice at all on pictures, but it’s definetely better in hand.
Anyway I will try it again in winter, it must behave much better then.

    I fell in love immediately!
Top notes are sparkling, fresh and pleasantly sweet-remind me of italian sunsets, heart is charming-deep and warm,
musky powdery drydown is just amazing,
to my nose is similar with Kenzo amour.
    Great summer perfume!
