I have the vintage and it is NOTHING like then notes on this. This isn’t even close to being based on the former version. Holy shit. Why do they make stuff up??? The vintage is a chypre. Lots of oakmoss and a bit soapy.

A friend gave me this because it wasn’t her style, she bought it blind. I accepted it just to be polite. But am I glad I did because this is different from all the ones I have. This is very creamy. It smells delicate and pretty. Caress would be perfect for a wedding. The more I wear it , the more I like it.

Peach? At some point in my past, I must have bumped noses with a (quelle-horreur!!) chemical peach note (Chloë?) which Was Not Nice. So I took the plunge and indulged in Caresse, and so pleasantly surprised/happy.
Others have said it: sweet, feminine, rich, such an aristocratic peach (“no shouting, mes enfants; it would be so rude”). The peach that identifies with suede.
Anyone noticed that the French for peach (pêche) and sin (péché) are functionally homonyms. I think I may know why.

Utterly gorgeous. Fantastic quality. Love, love, love it xx

No peaches or apricots( Disappointment!

Dieser Duft ist einfach wunderbar, feminin, weich fruchtig und blumig in der best möglichen Weise. Fragonard versteht es die historische Parfümerie in einer Modernität zu interpretieren wie es heute nur selten zu finden ist. Einfach grossartig.

I hate it when I read the reviews before I make a purchase and get all excited only to find that my perfume is nothing like all the reviewers say. Such is the case with Caresse.
Unlike others, I smell nothing creamy about this perfume, it’s a fairly strong white floral. Jasmine is the dominant note. There is definitely sweet peach, but the perfume is not especially fruity.
I hoped for something like Annick Goutal’s Petite Cherie or maybe John Varvatos for women–a perfume that could rival those two in the richness of orchard fruit. For me, the closest comparison to this is Burberry London Special Edition (with the gold leather wrapped around), another white floral with peach in the background.

Quiet, very creamy, shy and subtle apricot-peach-mandarin scent with good lasting power. (even after taking the shower it is clear noticeable on the skin). Close to the skin, perfect for occasion, you do not want to be very noticeable by parfum, for e. if you are going with your dog in the park or in the deli or if you have to clean your place or of course for the job, where is not allowed to smell overputted. You smell, just like you would take a shower. I can smell the fragrance most intensive in the morning. You can wear it without bothering anybody and you feel you just perfect. Not sweeteness in it. The bottle is extraordinary adorable!!! It can stand on your shelve between the window and the juice in it is not getting worse. It does not smell cheap, that is for sure. It smells luxury and fragile. Excellent for shy girls and woman.

This lasts and lasts! And it’s quite nice. One of the few scents that capture the essence of peach really well. The peach blends with the rose note nicely. The vanilla gives it a solid, long-lasting base.
This is a persome with a lot of deapth. It is smooth like velvet.
If you can’t find this or can’t afford it, it may be worth checking out Harajuku Lovers Love (the original). It is mainly peach too and the peach there is also very nicely done, very warm, creamy and smooth. The two perfumes are not exactly the same of course but they both “stage” peach really well in my opinion.

Hello, Onimoka. I am glad that my review helped you to understand this fragrance somehow. I hope you will have the chance to enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you for your kind words. 🙂

I wanted to write a review for this fragrance since a long time ago, but never had the chance. Now is the time to do so.
I am crazy for this perfume. Even though I have and worn a lot of perfumes, honestly, Caresse is one of the only fragrances that is totally compatible with my skin.
First of all, I must admit that I had never heard of Fragonard before. My first encounter with them was through my fiancé when he introduced me to this house via the internet while planning a trip to Paris last October. I got really excited knowing we were going to visit Paris and its “Perfume Museum”, owned & managed by Fragonard, and further, visit their boutique. I record that when we entered, my eyes felt directly on Billet Doux and Caresse. Due to its carnation note, Billet Doux wasn’t finally my kind of liking. Therefore I tried Caresse. What a surprise and what a beautiful development on my skin it was!
Caresse started with a creamy apricot and peach fruits aroma, and then brought a hint of mandarine and, finally, a touch of beautiful blooming flowers. This must be one of the first times that I can actually smell so clearly all the notes of a perfume!
Its lasting power on me stays forever and its smell doesn’t bother anyone around me, as I have heavy spraying hands with this one. In fact, I get a lot more of compliments wearing Caresse than wearing Maitresse by Agent Provocateur, another of my favorites.
Unfortunately, I have just a few drops left from Caresse and, even though I have got a lot of other perfumes to wear, I am tempted to finish it, but slowly, very slowly, trying to keep it just a little bit longer as it’s my first Fragonard perfume, bringing me as well so many wonderful memories from our October trip to Paris.
Usually with my perfumes, I don’t go for a second or third bottle, but with Caresse, it’s a whole new story. I am now addicted and just… Love it. Simple as that!

Fragonard is an interesting house in the way it separates most of its fragrances into either EDT or pure parfum concentrations. Caresse however is a special release in the EDP.
If you’re a particular fan of peachy scents, especially the boozy kind, you’ll most likely want to devour Caresse. I on the other hand, am not a huge fan of peach in general.
Caresse opens with rich, syrupy peach, which reminds me of peach schnapps, the reason for the boozy reference. It also has a rather sharp citrusy note, possibly orange, which makes it very fruity in its nature.
It’s not fruity in a sweet or clean sense. It’s not particularly refreshing either. Caresse is sophisticated and rich. I actually like how Citronella described it, ‘creamy fruit’, and that’s exactly what it is.
It’s the kind of fruity scent that is smooth and elegant in Summer and warm and inviting in Winter. A great choice for those that cringe at the thought of wearing orientals when the cold weather comes around.
While I’m still underwhelmed by this fragrance, preferring the other EDP release of Billet Doux, it is pleasing to find a fragrance that manages to be fruity yet expensive in both style and quality.

The original Caresse by Fragonard has been my favorite parfume for a long time – and still is
I bought it years ago at Fragonard in Paris along with some others perfumes. A later visit to Paris, I simply had to have a new bottle.
I was so sad when I learned it was no longer available at my last visit to Fragonard a few years back.
Since my supply of Caresse is almost gone now, I have been searching for information on the perfume, to find a replacement.
Now I find it has been re -released
I am so pleased, and so will my husband be when he learns 🙂
The original perfume is lovely, and very feminine.
Like flora-55 -I hope the new Caresse is similar or very close to the original

Have no idea what the original Caresse smelled like but this is all creamy fruit to me. More cozy than vivid. Quite often I think there is one particular note too many in a scent but here there seems to be a note missing, one that would have brought a bit more energy to the composition. Still it’s pleasant and I enjoy wearing Caresse.

Wow, I had no idea this had been re-released! I loved this, I had it a LONG time ago, and I was very sorry to see it disappear. It is/was fresh and lovely, very feminine, like a softer, less sharp Ma Griffe, and as vivid as a spring day. I really hope the new version is true to the fromer perfume. I am going to look for this!
