The opening is very heavy on strawberry candy (sorry, BIG strawberry candy) which battles with the smoke/”fog” notes before it dries down into something more coniferous.
Honestly, I wish they had gone with a different strawberry note here — it is artificial and a little cloying, like those hard candies in a strawberry wrapper you’d find in an older person’s kitchen. But it nevertheless is a very unique use of such a bright and fruity note and I give props for the novelty.
Cape Heartache has been on my radar for around a year and a half, since I started collecting frags in the first place. It’s not what I thought it would be; not sappy and pine-forward, but with the sweetness of pine as a heart note. I do like it, but it doesn’t fill the Christmassy hole I wanted it to. Really, in short, you won’t like this if the inclusion of strawberry turns you off. It’s very, very present.
Sillage and longevity are both great here. It lasts days on clothes and 7-10hrs on skin. After two sprays to the chest my girlfriend was able to smell it all night, and consistently.
It doesn’t develop much over that time, though, besides the smoke and pine becoming more forward. Nice dry down but it’s just slightly less sweetness within the same scent.

Pine, smoke and a honeyed strawberry note. The sweetness and the smoky pine are fighting for many hours to the take the first place and none of them is a clear winner. What I smell in the opening is mostly what I get until the dry down. It goes on Arso’s territory with a good effort, but Profumum Roma is better constructed.

I got this sample with an order. I didn’t know the notes, and did not guess right at all.
I thought it was a very nice aromatic woody oriental, because it felt like a synthetic Oud was one of the woody notes. There was a nice freshness to it, I thought bergamot, but it is a citrus strawberry, not too sweet.
I was really digging it because of the pine and fir, favorite notes, but I was guessing ginger and cedar. But now that I see the notes, the fir and Pine are very natural and clearly decernable.
The fruity strawberry is what makes this special and very enjoyable. It is not imature fruity sweet, it just makes a perfect complimenting accord with the pine, fir.
What I thought was a medecinal oud, may be a sharp herbacious hemlock, which is very nice here. I never smelled hemlock.
It has good quality and performance.
It’s in a fresh, fruity oriental catagory, worth a try, a safe blind buy if you you like fir, which is not old fashioned here.
It is truly gender neutral. This is like Anick Gautal’s Nuit Etoilee (Starry Night), but a bit more masculine, and not as much fir and Pine.

A really nice, although perhaps overly fruity, green scent. However, I’d love to know what the difference between a regular strawberry and a big strawberry is. Bizarre.

    Amazing, totally love it!
The pine opening is very nice but still something I need to get used to.
The drydown is where you can find my unconditional love: woody notes with a hint of strawberry. On paper the notes seem like a weird combination, but the smell is just perfect to me. Although the strawberry note might suggest so, I don’t find it to be overly sweet.
I’m wearing a sample of cape heartache in the summer heat and I feel can still pull this off. The projection and longevity is really good on my skin. Running on 7 hours now and still get great whiffs.
Well done Imaginary Authors, I applaud you and will honor your creativity with the purchase of a full bottle.

After blowing through a complimentary sample. This scent will be my go to cold weather scent for this upcoming fall and winter season. It’s woody, earthy, with a dollop of strawberry to add dimension. On my skin the strawberry isn’t nauseating like some of the earlier comments suggest. The strawberry is similar to the kind you would find in a strawberry scented candle. This scent is a great alternative to the modern trendy cold weather frags. Wear this to be unique.

It seems like a lot of people are quick to jump to “synthetic strawberry” to describe (and criticize) this fragrance. Yeah, it’s sweet and syrupy. I can agree with that. But it doesn’t bother me. I don’t find the strawberry note to be overwhelming or out of place. I’m not sure if a fresh strawberry note would even make it better.
Use your imagination for a bit; Imagine running off to a cabin in the woods. Imagine living off the land and making your own strawberry jam from wild strawberries you picked yourself. Imagine sitting outside beneath the pines and eating that strawberry jam with a slice of homemade bread. This isn’t a fresh, summery, ripe strawberry fragrance. It’s a cozy, comfy, cabin in the woods fragrance, and to me it does its job well.

I haven’t read anyone mentioning this having an almost antiseptic/medicinal quality in the top notes. I’m not sure if it’s neosporin, or what, I can’t quite remember just yet, but it’s definitely something I remember and associate with bandages/injury (ironically enough). It wasn’t a deal breaker for me, just thought it strange. Strawberry and pine wasn’t blasting me like most people, but the drydown is definitely soft and candy-like. Then again, maybe that’s the combo of the two; I’m no expert yet. I liked where it went eventually, it’s just the initial medicinal smell that throws me a little.

I’ve heard many people say the strawberry note is very apparent or even dominates the fragrance. I personally don’t detect the strawberry at all and I love to eat strawberries. If I didn’t know there was a strawberry note listed, I wouldn’t even try to pick out any sweet or fruity notes, as I don’t get them.
What I do get is a bit of smoke and straight up pine tree; mostly the woody component of the tree, but perhaps also a bit of the needles, bark, and sap. It evokes the feeling to me of lying on my side underneath a blue spruce, cutting it down with a hacksaw for Christmas.
With the push and pull of the saw cutting into the tree, the woody aroma erupts and consumes you with warmth and nostalgia. Off in the distance, a fire is burning nearby a small shack serving Christmas cookies and hot chocolate.
For those looking for a great pine scent that will remind you of your favorite balsam candle or cherished tree farm adventures, give this one a try.

I wear this when I’m in my rocking chair. The back and forth, back and forth rocking causes massive sillage. Is anyone else cold? Fang, where’s my shawl?

Cape Heartache is a fun fragrance. I get every note listed, and they all smell natural. The strawberry is not fresh cut, it’s jammy at first and then later in development takes on the smell of cooked strawberries which smells a little waxy. I worked as a baker for a number of years, and I’ve made strawberry cake with fresh slices, compotes, etc. Hemlock has a dry, warm, slightly smoky tone and in Cape Heartache I love it because it blends so well with the fir & pine. Anyone wondering what hemlock specifically smells like, give Ormonde Woman a sniff.
I get strawberry out in front of the evergreens initially, then it settles in all together and becomes linear. If this were a wine, I would refer to it as fruit forward.
Like some others have mentioned, I feel like I’m standing amongst the evergreens. Along with the accompanying story, it’s like two lovers have gone to the woods under the pretense of picking strawberries. When the strawberry grows a little waxier, it smells like lip gloss and I imagine this being the culmination of the hike to the woods: a makeout sesh. I’ve never read the book this fragrance is based on, but I think it’s olfactively retold in Cape Heartache to a T.
I make my own deodorant, and rose with patchouli is what I was wearing when I first tried Cape Heartache. It seemed to go really well together, so maybe a rose patchouli would be a good layering option to add complexity.
CH is at the top of my purchase list. I can’t wait to wear it as a daytime fall scent.

This is a very interesting scent, pretty unique when compared to other evergreen-inspired scents. At the beginning, I surprisingly get incense, that I reckon is caused by the sweet strawberry-fir-pine combination. It is interesting because it reminds me of the smell that churches in the mountains have, but in a surprisingly good way. I didnt expct incense, but it actually gives the scent a deep, smoky facet that I like.
Projection is moderate, like its longevity.
    COMPARISON:
-Fille en Aiguilles (Lutens) is different, warmer, more lighthearted, and more feminine imo. Cape Heartache is a bit colder and tiiiny bit more powdery, it also lasts a shorter time. Sweetness is similar, strawberry for this, and dried fruits for FeA, but I’d say this is sweeter.
-Norne by Slumbehouse is a totally different animal, more like humid forest, less incensey on me.
-Wald by Euphorium Brooklyn is not sweet at all, more like fire and smoke and burnt wood.

This is my first Imaginary Author’s frag and I do enjoy the scent.
Upon initial blast, I get pine and sweet strawberries. The mix is well balanced in my opinion. The Strawberry aren’t too sweet and the pine is not too sharp. Perhaps the sweetness cuts through the sharpness of the pine. So far the scent is pretty linear to my nose, but I do not mind as the scent is quite pleasant to me.
I’m still out on the longevity as today (4/16/18) is my first full day of wearing it. Silliage wise, The scent cocoons me in a nice bubble for about 1-2 hours of application before becoming a skin scent on me.

This is a great, well-rounded woody scent with a hint of strawberry. I think it smells very similar to Chanel Sycomore, other than the strawberry. The strawberry seems to become more prominent over time. Such a creamy, woody scent. This is a love for me.

I’ve been looking for the perfect smoky, piney, forresty
Smelling scent to wear at Christmas time. I tried Arso
(Too Smokey), Dasein Winter Nights nice, but not quite what
I had in mind, and Serge Lutens
La fille en Arguilles ( a little too fem) but this Cape heartache for me is the one!, full bottle coming tomorrow! This one has a good balance of everything and very well blended. I must admit though, i thought that the strawberry note sounded a little weird, but in here it just works!

Tried this as an alternative to Profumum Arso. Similar to Arso when I first put on but, by the time I got to work, I smelled like a Strawberry Shortcake Doll.

Intense and fresh scent of conifer trees and cut down forest. After a while dries down to a mild strawberry jam scent. Don’t be mistaken – there is no fresh strawberry scent. Wouldn’t wear it, but I’m happy to have it in my collection – nice attempt!

  18. :

I get a strong pine/fir needle note, very bracing and sharp, with a discordant note of strawberry bubble gum (Hubba Bubba). I wish I got fresh cut strawberries, but on me the strawberry note is plastic and syrupy and ruins the scent for me. Good longevity / projection. Meh overall.

Yup, it smells like strawberries and pine (and perhaps the ISO Super E, but, frankly, ISO E and I usually get along. While I do think there is a somewhat synth smell to this, I like it. Some have compared it to Serge Lutens Fille en Anguiles –which I totally get, though SL is far more rich, resinous, sweet with winey-autumnal aspects and less “strawberry syrup,”–but I think I would compare this much more to Amouage Bracken Woman. If you like that, you may like this less spendy version.
It’s strawberries fruit forward at first, then the pine and the strawberries commingle, and then a lovely smokiness permeates, finally bringing SL to mind. Longevity and silage are quite good (probably because there are not that many natural ingredients) and I think it skews somewhat feminine, but anyone can pull it off. The musky berries make me think it’s a bit more feminine, but ladies might be put off by the smoke and pine. A day or night scent, this works in any season, except perhaps summer. I have two samples from the company and will be going FB for just a casual go-to fragrance.

I was hoping for it to be all about the Ben Howard song “old Pine”
The summer shone beat down on bony backs
So far from home where the ocean stood
Down dust and pine cone tracks
We slept like dogs down by the fire side
Awoke to the fog all around us
    The boom of summer time
We stood, Steady as the stars in the woods
    So happy-hearted
And the warmth rang true inside these bones
As the old pine fell we sang, Just to bless the morning
I was not happy-hearted at all after trying this perfume out. Someone else described it as a strawberry incense. That description is spot on. I got no pine, no fir, no wood, and no hemlock.

I have not smelled this perfume yet, but I would love to. It already makes me think of one of my favourite novels, Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson, a love story set in Puget Sound in the 1940s-50s. It is about a Japanese girl and an American boy, and the turmoil the war brings to their innocence. Cedar forests and strawberry fields set the atmosphere. Go read it, or watch the film, if you haven’t already. This house is certainly adept at capturing literature!

Cape heartache Is a beautiful scent ,No dought about that . But i was searching for Pine and Fir and this is not what i find here . this is waxy strawberrys and hemlock with a slight touch of smoke in the begining . If i realy put my heart to it i can smell i slight touch of Fir and wood ,but not much . A bit of Vanilla for good mesure .
I like to make pictures in my head with perfues , or rather they come up when i smell it.
This reminds me of picking wild strawberrys in the forest clearing as a child . someone made a fire the night before and a bit of smoke is still lingering in the air .The sun heats up the forest around and makes this a nice fresh summers day. The waxy feal is actualy nice it smells abit like makeup . A more feminin scent imo

Unfortunately, I have to agree with a reviewer below. On my skin I mostly smell a woodsy, smokiness paired with strawberries and, like the reviewer below said, it leaves me with the impression of strawberry incense, which I never quite enjoyed. After 2 hours, the strawberry scent along with the smoky and woodsy notes calm down considerably, making the remaining scent rather tolerable and quite pleasant.
Overall, I really wanted to like this, but it’s just not working for me. It doesn’t smell bad. I just can’t justify a full bottle purchase knowing that I’d have to wait 2 hours in order to find the fragrance pleasant and tolerable enough to want to be wearing it.

Unisex but more leaning towards feminine. ( just a little bit)
The notes are spot on !

Love the mix of strawberry and pine.

I am sorry, but I do not like this scent..at all. I do not get the fir and pines. I DO get a smokiness that, when paired with the strawberries, leaves me with a recollection of cheap strawberry incense. Not working for me.

Cape Heartache is not really a unisex travel book–it’s a gender-fluid memoir.
It opens as a young girl sucking on a pink candy necklace, but the elastic string grows into sweaty teen boy burning tires on the pavement.
Then the car takes a turn, cool mint and chic college girl with the top down, winding up alpine roads–
but the pine trees are cut down by a lumberjack with a gas-powered chain saw.
Then a sultry strawberry in a red dress and bare feet watches a campfire until late into the evening, when the coals are covered by a passing dark stranger.
It’s like a romance with shifting his-and-hers point-of-view, but I can’t stop sniffing my skin to see if there’s a sequel.

Just amazing. Now I don’t really get the pine/fir/spruce (hemlock), because I’ve smelled those essential oils and actual trees and I don’t get that vibe at all. However I do get a woodsy vibe, but it’s more along the lines of incense and smoke. I also get the synthetic strawberry note.
It has a musky, smokey women’s perfume vibe, but it could be worn unisex. The strawberry note does make it more feminine, but I don’t care lol. It’s also got a spiciness to it. Something along the lines of a Texas or Viginian Cedarwood note. I might end up getting a bottle, but I’ll see how the other samples go first.

artificial christmas trees decorated with vintage early-80s Strawberry Shortcake dolls.
ok-ish as a seasonal room scent, but not something i want to wear as a fragrance.

I wore this today, after having purchased a set of 8 Imaginary Authors samples.
I can see why this is loved…but its not for me. There is this smoky wood thing that is REALLY popular at the moment, which to me is way too acrid. The pine is just too sharp and astringent and somehow makes everything smell the same. As soon as I sniff it I don’t like it. Its so overpowering.
Yes, there is strawberry, which is quite sweet and powerful at the front – but I just can’t get past the smoky woods.
Lasts a good while. Worth it if you like it. But please, everyone stop with this note – I am so tired of it.

I wish I liked this one a bit more – it smells unfortunately similar to some sort of bathroom cleaner/scenting product that must get used in the UK and perhaps nowhere else, haha.
I mostly smell sort of waxy strawberry, very sweet, with a background of vanilla and a touch of wood.
It’s not “bad” but the scent memory kinda ruins this one for me. Enjoying exploring this house however – they have more hits than misses for me!

Im transported to my childhood when I illegally was playing at my cousin’s room. Fresh pensil shavings and rubber with strawberry smell. To my nose this is very, very close to profumum roma’s Arso, just with a touch of strawberry.
    8,5/10

  33. :

    4 out of 5

This fragrance is gummy and waxy, plasticky. It is a wood resin fragrance not fresh-woody and definitely not smoky or campfire-like to my nose. The strawberry is faint and a mere distraction.
It smells like Mastic or Lentisque or whatever the gummy sharp resin is in Vert De Bois by Tom Ford. Is it the hemlock? Who even knows what hemlock smells like? Based off of the listed notes and other reviews I thought this may be my favorite Imaginary Authors fragrance but I regret that It is my least favorite. It’s not bad, just not at all what I was expecting.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

It really evokes the sensation of being in a cold, foggy British Columbia forest, with a roaring campfire, and caramelizing marshmallows.
It’s a fragrance to which you have to make a commitment. Before I spray this on I have to really ask myself, am I prepared to live with this smell for the next 2 days?

  35. :

    4 out of 5

I get fruity campfire smoke with Cape Heartache. Roasting marshmallows? Eating strawberry ice cream or strawberry cobbler by the campfire? Unusual scent. I think Cape Heartache would be a fantastic scent on a man.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

Cape Heartache is a like but not a love.
The smell is mostly nice: conifers and strawberry, woody without seeming lumberjack, a pretty good balance between concept and wearability, though it takes a bit of a turn toward car air-freshener territory after a while. My biggest issue with it is poor projection; after just a short while, I have to bring my arm to my nose to catch a decent whiff. I am admittedly a fan of bold scents, and while I realize and can even appreciate that not every perfume is a screamer, such quietness is disappointing for me at this price point.
In addition, I had very high expectations for Imaginary Authors. This brand has been on my radar for a while, and I simply adore their concept and visual aesthetic. I was confident that their perfumes would be atmospheric and transportive, and in that regard, Cape Heartache, and the rest of their perfumes that I’ve experienced so far, fall a bit flat.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Opens with beautiful outdoor gusts of pine and wood and a little smoke and fruit … at this stage it has plenty of good things in common with Fille en Aiguilles or Wazamba. It smells complex and natural.
BUT these subtleties are soon steamrollered off, at least on my skin, by bullying synth strawberry. It’s actually not a bad strawberry (a note I usually hate so passionately that I’d be scrubbing this off if it were even more prominent or not blended in well)- but for me it simply crushes the woodsier stuff which I like more. I’ll try with Memoirs of a Trespasser (and Arso if budget permits) for something woodsy and coniferous that doesn’t have so much rogue rampant fruit in it.
Cape Heartache really is far, far, nicer than just the words “pine + strawberry” make it sound – it’s a recipe from hell on paper, but it does work in scent. And perhaps on others the berry note will be more controllable or more welcome than it was for me. As a scent this is certainly INTERESTING and it’s not unwearable (even for strawbo-phobes) – there’s enough art and care in there to make it worth experimenting with. And it’s certainly not linear or boring – it absolutely mutates from one kind of thing to another over its life.
On me, initially strong projection, but skin scent only by say 4hrs in. Total longevity up to 10h. I only wish I WANTED to keep smelling of it for that long.

  38. :

One of those scents that make you want to cry.
Brings on strong emotions and nostalgia.
The smell of camping in the bush and camp fire.
Realistic fruit and something a little herbal and fresh which smells unique and interesting.
Its strong too and lasts long, one of the best niche scents I’ve tried.

  39. :

    3 out of 5

My good impression of Cape Heartache fluctuated until the far dry down, and now I am seriously thinking about hitting the dislike button. I’ve lusted after this for years, and the opening was quite up to my expectation: piney, woody, a little bit of fir here and hemlock there. About 30 minutes in I swear it smelled almost like a sauna room as the berry note sweetened the woods just a bit. Very nice. The strawberry was blended seamlessly with the conifers and never stood out as artificial at that stage.
BUT, as the perfume dried down the notes became more and more separated, and the artificial facet of the strawberry manifested to the point of no return. It got progressively sweeter and vanilla really could be noticed in the blend as well. Why that vanilla? It’s really like smelling littered Frappuccino cup at a campground. About 8 hours in here I sit and am thinking what to do with my sample.
    Not a score for me.

  40. :

Also good for imaginary travel, Cape Heartache will take you to the back of beyond where giant pines cry their coniferous tears with its beautiful smoky core material: Douglas fir resin mixed with forest raspberry accord for that shady sylvan atmosphere.

  41. :

love this. So icy fresh and airy yet dense at the same time. The addition of the strawberry note helps to balance out all of the sharp pine/fir notes and keeps this fragrance from going into the “car freshener” territory. Cant wait to try this out in the chill of the fall/winter air!

  42. :

Smells of pinecones when you boil them to get the resin off and to get to the kernels. Rich, coniferous and soft tarry.

  43. :

    3 out of 5

This really reminds me Profumum Arso, except that Cape is frutier and overall a bit softer, whereas Arso is pine sap through and through. I’ve been wanting to get Arso for a long time but since they don’t make a travel version of it I might just go for this one as the next best alternative.
Oh and Cape Heartache is a great name, by the way. Poetic!

  44. :

Sweet juicy strawberry entwined with the balasam of fir and pine meet hemlock and vanilla but not sickly so. Cedar creeps in giving it a woody base. It’s very moreish, sweet but not toothachingly so. Dont overspray, longevity is excellent and silage is decent too.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Oh wow, I hate my nose. A lot of fragrances that I try, fail the sniff test from the first time and so did this one, the blend felt like a mess to me. Before writing this review, I sprayed it on again to get a second impression. This is amazing, I love it. The opening is strong with strawberry mixed with some woodyness (I get some oak out of it). This makes me think of looking for wild strawberies in piney woods. It feels like a childhood adventure. Definitely try this one out, fits both women and men. The strawberries give it a feminine touch, whilst the woody and piney nature of it gives off a masculine touch. Use it in the colder months, it will work wonders to your senses.
EDIT: I think I did not like it much at first is because I sprayed twice on the same spot, avoid doing that, it becomes overwhelming and the mix goes strange due to it’s strength.

  46. :

Mmm..I like it. Very much. An intense sweet strawberry opening along with the fir and pine. It settles and it becomes soft and delectable. Aromatic woods with strawberries, vanilla and herbs. A fairies woodland feast?
The strawberries last a good while but the woods definitely dominate and last the longest. A delicious soft slightly fruity woody delight.
It’s a shame that it is a skin scent for so long. The longevity is moderate.

I really enjoy this stuff. It’s like falling into a strawberry patch in the middle of a dark, damp wood. I know some people find the strawberry note overwhelming, but I think it works really well. Definitely my favorite fragrance from the house I’ve smelled. I put this on over twelve hours ago, and I’m still catching pretty decent whiffs of it. This is the perfect fragrance for the wet Portland winter days.

  48. :

I don’t smell “the woods,” per say. I smell WOOD. To me, it more reminds me of Mystic, CT Seaport—with the old wooden boats, docks and boat-making shops right there on the water—which has a permanent smell of sweet and smoky seasoned wood. Very nice, very sentimental scent. Love it.

  49. :

It’s like walking through the forest, having a nice day outdoors, and then coming upon a strawberry the size of a house! The strawberry got a little overwhelming an hour in. I had to scrub it off. I was loving the fruity accord combined with the pine, but I was left with a cheap smelling strawberry incense. I don’t know. I’ll try it again sometime.

I recently acquired IA perfume samples and, after trying them, found that Cape Heartache and Memoirs of a Trespasser are my favorite.
The synthetic strawberry note at the opening of Cape Heartache nearly put me off though, but it disappears (or blend in, not quite sure) soon to leave the stage to the coniferous woods. Born in a canadian city siting on the 50th parallel surrounded by the boreal forest, I always loved the smell of resins and fir needles, and dry forest floor. To find the smell of a coniferous forest in a nice summer day coming out at me thus made my day. The fir and pine doesn’t come out pungent as it can in some other fragrances; maybe the vanilla is responsible for that? Instead, it come out with that dry sweetness that I miss so much from my walks in the woods. The woods are not overpowering, not too serious, so that the scent is kept light and easy to wear during the day. If you ever think, while hiking: “wish I could bottle this forest scent”, then you should definitely try this! Now to buy a bottle…

Strawberry and Pine are the notes I get. Very pleasant but not something I can wear unfortunately. But I love to smell it off the atomizer. Can’t say I get any of the others notes listed. This was my first time trying any scent from Imaginary Authors. Well done just not for me.

Wow this is fantastic! There is a covered sweetness of woods, pines, firs…all in a unique harmony, comfortable and sweet. The beginning is a strong note of strawberry, that after a few minutes becomes weaker due to other notes… is an unusual fragrance, woody and wonderfully sweet but not sugary sweet, I can hear a sweetness mixed with wood and trees.. .a sweetness of a place never visited. This is a unique parfum for those who love to stand, suitable for the autumn months in my opinion! I recommend you try, good fragrance!

Another excellent green scent by Imaginary Authors. The pine and strawberry make it really unique, and with no crazy notes it’s really wearable. Sweet but mostly green and earthy, I think it’s the strawberry note that puts me off buying it – there is something very young about strawberry that makes me think of bubble gum and car refresher.
    * After about 8 hours I can still smell this on my wrist. The strawberry is gone but the pine and wood lingers. Amazing. Very long lasting.

I really like this, it’s a beautifully balanced scent. I’ve wanted a forest + strawberry perfume for a while now. I bought a 1.5ml spray decant and it didn’t even last me a day. I was disappointed at the weakness, it had practically no projection whatsoever. Even on my shirt. I wanted to keep smelling it but I had to constantly bring my arm right under my nose. If it performed better I would be buying a bottle. I might have to revisit this and buy a larger decant.

Fragrance Review For Cape Heartache Imaginary Authors
Notes: fir, pine tree, hemlock, vanilla, big strawberry woody notes
After wearing Memoirs Of A Trespasser I found this fragrance to be very similar. Both scents are aromatic woods. It’s fir and pine and the feeling it creates is that of trespassing into a cabin in the woods that isn’t yours, or back to your days as a child during summer camp. It’s the forests of New England, it’s Pennsylvania, it’s New Hampshire. Gorgeous. This was essentially the same except with vanilla and strawberry to give it a feminine angle. Memoirs was masculine. This is feminine. I wondered why they would call it Cape Heartache. I love that name. I wanted it to smell like being in love and then getting your heart broken – in one summer. As we all have had our short lived summer loves, I would like a fragrance that evokes long lost loves. The strawberry and vanilla just doesn’t do that. It would have to have flowers in it, namely red rose. The red rose is the signature classic emblem of love. If there had been a very lush velvety rose, some patchouli, amber or incense and maybe something that makes you sigh and dream, something powdery like iris or heliotrope. Cape Heartache needs more depth. It is a pretty fragrance however and does smell good and it lasts a long time. It’s on me through 2 days straight. Very well made unisex fragrance. Don’t dismiss this fragrance as being an indie wood scent. Yes it has woods but the vanilla and strawberry that pop up is a nice surprise almost like they are playing a little joke on you. Oh you thought it would be woods and woods for days but then voila a sweet powdery vanilla and fruity strawberry. It turns into vanilla and strawberry shampoo in the end. Great to wear as a day time scent but most appropriate to late summer and through the autumn.

It seems this is a big hit! Well, I don’t want to rock the boat. Let’s keep the praise going. I have virtually nothing bad to say about CH anyway. It’s a great scent and I resonate with
