Description

Cannabis Rose is a sequel of the forbidden theme, the female version of cannabis scent with the rose heart. Forbidden herb appeared first in the male Cannabis Santal in 2006. Cannabis Rose was designed by Robertet perfumery. The composition opens with Bulgarian rose, pomegranate blossom and bergamot. Cannabis at the heart is blended in with jasmine and dark chocolate. Base notes are: patchouli, white musk and Oolong tea. It was created in 2007. After the exclusive announcement in February 2008 at Fresh boutiques, it also appeared in other online and offline stores. The perfume is packed in a 100 ml bottle along with the matching products.

Sadly, I smell reformulation. One day when this perfume first launched, I was walking across Union Square and was gifted a generous 7 or 8 ml travel spray. I don’t know if I would have chosen it for myself, but I came to love it. I wasn’t as into fragrance then, so my little bottle lasted me for years. (Plus, the juice was strong; one spritz to the chest was enough.)
I remember the rose being really prominent—warm, rich, juicy, womanly, magenta in color. Great in the heat and humidity. Rather than fighting NYC’s armpit summer with “fresh” or “clean,” Cannabis Rose struck back with sultry. I felt glamorous while sidewalk dining at cramped tables, sprayed with gritty bus exhaust, while everyone of means vacationed in the Hamptons.
The original version remains my most complimented fragrance by far. Overkill rose spilling out of her corset, perfectly balanced by strict patchouli boning. Not too lush, not too harsh, just right. For old time’s sake, I bought a decant, and now I get pretty much 100% patchouli, backgrounded by citronella candle and thin, anemic rose. Did IFRA kill it in the intervening decade? What a bummer.

On me, Cannabis Rose is a complex green chypre with nuances of fruity rose and citronella. The scent is dominated by the green notes, mostly patchouli, mixed with something that smells like oakmoss and the smell of fresh weed. The weed note smells like sage mixed with fir needles. It blends with bergamot to create a sort of citronella scent. Don’t be afraid of the weed note – it’s blended and doesn’t smell like someone was smoking. I was surprised by the strong cranberry juice note – maybe it’s just a really jammy rose or that’s what pomegranate blossom smells like. I can hear the chocolate note, but it’s just a tiny smidge of unsweetened dark chocolate, harmonizing with the dark fruit note. This is not a gourmand!!!
Overall, it’s interesting to sniff but I don’t find myself wearing it. Chypre lovers should check it out though. Unisex. Good sillage, good longevity.

This does have a legit cannabis note in it!! But of fresh cannabis buds NOT dried ones that are typically smoked and akin to a skunk a.k.a. “dank” and that’s what makes it work. I’m sure there is a crowd for that type of aroma but this is from Fresh, after all. I grew a plant at home one summer and it vividly reminds me of the complex aroma – sweet, citus, earthy and incredibly fresh – I encountered when I harvested the matured buds. I don’t think that this is a “strong” scent, and I sprayed myself generously. It also doesn’t seem to last too long unfortunately. But it is unique for it’s genre.

I’m not sure if I have a bad batch or if my olfactory sense is all screwed up, but I’m getting a very sweet, citrusy scent from this. I don’t smell a lot of rose or a heavy patchouli or any of the other notes so much. To me, Cannabis Rose smells like an orange flavored dum-dum lollipop. I like it, but I thought it would be a lot more… I don’t know… herbal?

This scent is out of my scent comfort-zone. I’m not one to fall for Rose or Patchouli, sticking to spicy/gourmand types (think vanilla and cedarwood). So when I fell for this, it was a pleasant surprise. It’s very much in line with Fresh’s ethos: it’s a very clean scent, non-flashy fragrance. On my skin chemistry, it doesn’t smell of ‘one’ ingredient, but the end result of beautiful harmony between the ingredients.
The other day, my mum remarked that someone smelt like skincare. And it was right on spot. This scent smells like really good smelling skincare, like the type that’s organic and high-end. That’s Fresh for you.

Awful. Straight citronella. Tried for a week to see if the dry down could be nice, but alas, no. Might be nice to keep the mosquitos away. Funny thing, I sprayed for a coworker and she immediately got rose top note which I couldn’t discern at all (she also was not down with it). Wish it worked for me as I had been dying to try this. 🙁

One of the most underrated fragrances available.. I would consider it as unique chypre blooming in a world of fruity gormands.. It is too unique and mesmerising for me to just simply pass it. I have a full large bottle and will be very happy and in acquiring my second bottle.
The smell is a dynamic combo of rose, patchouli, dirty soil, hints of citrus and maybe a transparent presence of cannabis…
I do understand other reviewers when they say that this smells somehow oily.. It smells oily in the same way a genuine Arabian Oud would smell oily, if that makes sense…
For a confident diva not afraid of living the glamorous life while leaving a trail that is bound to at least make you sit up and notice…
    Amazing sillage. Amazing longevity.
The resemblance with Cabaret is evident after 20-30 minutes and anything resembling Cabaret is always a plus point!

Gonna keep this simple….this stuff smells fan-freaking-tastic and no you won’t smell like Snoop Dog. But you will sniff yourself like a dog because it smells so good. It isn’t complex but it is far from boring. There is something in this that makes me feel almost giddy. The older batch in the square bottle was a bit dirtier. The newer one is a bit fresher. Both are wonderful. This fragrance does NOT get the love it should. It’s really good.

Usually a pure rose scent gives me a headache, but this perfume did not. I love the fragrant rose roughed up by the patchouli and cannabis accord. It’s pretty yet dirty, somewhat bohemian. The sillage is very decent and the scent is so unique that you’ll keep trying to inhale deeper breaths to get in more of your awesome scent.

I didn’t get much chocolate here, which I was looking forward to, but I didn’t get much jasmine either, which was my major concern (I’ve got plenty of scents with strong jasmine already). There is a tea and rose quality that is similar to Tea Rose by the Perfumer’s Workshop, but here there is no “synthetic” quality. I’ve never smoked cannabis so I can’t say for sure I know what such a note should smell like, but there was a kind of smoky herbal quality that came and went, along with a little amber to soften things up. The patchouli is obvious but never gets so strong as to be irritating, and I really don’t like scents with patchouli that dominates. This is not especially sweet and it’s reasonably natural smelling, but my guess is that it’s the kind of scent that one either likes or does not, due to the unique combination. I view it as unisex and a good example of what niche does right. I look forward to wearing it again to see if I get a different impression, which is not uncommon.

A beautiful perfume at a fantastic price! However I hate the start of this perfume. I get a very strong lemon, and a very faint pine. Yes pine, I know it’s not listed but I smell it. And this initial faze smells like a rose scented pinesol, or pledge! But THANK GOD I only get this for about 10 minutes. Then im left with a slightly jammy floraly deep red rose… slightly peppered by bergamonnt and a rich , pungent patchouli, that is sweetened and slightly camphorous. Keeping in mind that as much as I absolutely adore roses perfumes, I tend to shy away from soliflores. This , to me, is almost a soliflore but not quite, it’s simple, but elegant and beautiful. And I agree with sherapop, the ingreediants are top notch, the rose smells of a bitter Bulgarian rose, which I love and it is perfectly sweetened here. And really doesn’t get soapy, which if find that perfumes with a strong note of Bulgarian rose tend to do, like, creed’s fleur bugair, or even etat libre’s rossey de palma eau de protection. It actually reminds me of rosey depalma but it’s like a much more wearable version. Rossey , on me is quite soapy, then the chocolate at the end, it’s just vile. Where Cannabis rose is more of a potpori jammy slightly floraly rose… I only get the tiniest hint of soap which doesn’t last, and aftger 20 or so minutes and I get the drydown where I can now feel the powdery chocolate cocoa note… , which made me sick , literally with deplama … But with Cannabis Rose,I absolutely love ! And while the patchouli is rather strong… it really does calm down and become one with the rose. I don’t think that those who love soliflore rose will find this to be about the rose… but I do. My favorite rose is a sexy dark rose…. spicey woody, incensy… but I always want to be able to smell the rose. And that’s somewhat what I get here. I find this to be very much about the natural deep bugarian rose.. the patchouli and the lemon and what not just makes it slightly dried/ jammy // potpery’ish, but it’s not overdone, it’s kep simple and classy, nice sillage, and lasts a full work day on me. Nice affordable rose selection
And I really don’t find this to be much at all like CABERET (which I also love)
I do find the reference to this being similar to tea rose if you mixed with tom fords white patchouli…. , I’d say this is close but with a bit more Bulgarian rose and that chocolate note in the end , which is definently closer to a powdered cocoa:)
I also find this to be a softer version of l’artisan’s Velour de roses

This isn’t difficult to find at all. Just go to their website and get a 100ml for only 88 bucks, cheaper than what most ebay sellers are trying to get for it

After about an hour the cannabis note burns off (thank goodness) and I get a lovely soft oud/patchouli scent. Be noted that I pretty much hate patchouli, but this is such a soft gentle wooded scent it’s lovely. Very nice, very different and yes, long lasting. Really a unique fragrance for the right person

Well forget smelling like cannabis, as Cannabis Rose smells like nothing of the sort. Patchouli is the chosen drug in this composition and it’s intoxicatingly in abundance.
I can see my man laughing at the name of this fragrance already, but fortunately it’s captivating enough to allure him in an entirely different fashion.
The opening patchouli accord is rather sharp and heavy-hitting, having a slight antiseptic smell. However as it settles, a rich, red and jammy rose is obvious, along with strong and bitter dark chocolate. It’s a sexy fragrance in the way that it entices you with its exotic earthiness and richness.
It reminds me a little of Tauer’s Incense Rose, just perhaps without all the smoke. I probably would have named this fragrance ‘Patchouli Rose’ so it’d be more true to how it actually smells and less controversial.
There is a slightly dirty and herbal element present in this fragrance. I can certainly see how some reviewers have found reference to bygone eras and ‘free love’ hippies through experiencing Cannabis Rose in all its glory.
The drydown features a sweeter rose note and it remains this way for the lasting duration of the fragrance. The longevity is as expected, incredibly lasting and rather cloying too. I highly recommend wearing Cannabis Rose in small doses.

Love Cannabis Rose. It’s about the only thing I wear anymore. The patchouli doesn’t dominate, for me – it’s there but blends subtly with the rose and other notes. On me it’s long lasting, has a super-pleasant dry down, and makes me sniff my wrist over and over ’cause I can’t get enough of it. The overall impression is of a green, woodsy glade where you’ve gone to be alone for a little romance with your lover. I wear it at the office because it helps me feel like there’s more to life than sitting at a desk all day –

No, this does not smell like cannabis; instead, it reeks of patchouli, what all the cannabis smokers I knew in northern NM in the ’80s wore to (try to) COVER UP the smell of cannabis!
Cannabis Rose is a monstrously cheerful rosey take on patchouli and it’s absolutely full bottle worthy.
Since this has become virtually impossible to find, I suggest layering Tom Ford’s White Patchouli with the ubiguitous and delightfully inexpensive Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose for a spot-on duplicate.

    This is quite beautiful!
You have to be really into EARTHY to enjoy this.
I have a “dupe” sample containing vegan musk. This to me,does not smell feminine or masculine. It smells like a beautiful tree, earthy herbal dirt, and some roses. There is a tea note too. It smells like the soil is a bit moist.
This is strong too,Mother Nature’s Earth does have a voice. Please dab lightly, unless you like a trail (that is ok with me! I love a trail!)
Sorry if you like pot smell, hehheh. This does not smell like pot! (not yelling at ya. Just emphasis!)

Well, so much for my Fresh = citrus theory! And so much for my Fresh = sunny optimism and aromatherapeutic mood elevation theory. CANNABIS ROSE refutes most of my previous conceptions about this house in one fell swoop! The only survivor is my distinct impression (from four previous cases) that this house unerringly uses high quality notes–of that I am now thoroughly convinced.
CANNABIS ROSE is a walk through a dark forest of patchouli just before daybreak, as the sun is arriving on the horizon in the distance but the sky is overcast and gray, and the light is further shrouded from view by the patchouli leaves hanging everywhere on everything: trees, shrubs, fallen logs, piled up randomly for no apparent reason. Patchouli is everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After trudging through patchouli mulch for what seems like hours, at last one comes face to face with a huge rose garden barely visible but redolently beautiful.
The roses smell splendid and are perfectly blended with the deep earthiness of the dirty patchouli. What a gorgeous composition! Great development, sillage and longevity. I’m impressed! This is a perfume.
Is there cannabis in this composition? I do not know. Does cannabis smell like patchouli? Perhaps a patchouli alert is by now unnecessary. But just in case: If you do not like patchouli: please stay away!!!!! You have been warned!!!!!

This scent is Bulgarian Rose and Patchouli and the combination of these two lend it a lemony smell, even though lemon isn’t listed as a note. I certainly don’t smell a pot smell, although the patchouli does give it that “from the earth/flora” smell. The initial spray is pretty fierce. I didn’t know if I was going to make it without scrubbing it off, it’s so musky and darkly pungent. Drydown gentles it down, but for some reason I can still smell lemon all the way through. Luckily after a couple of hours, it’s but a whisper of a perfume, and has all but lingered away. This is a very unique scent. I have never smelled anything like it and that’s saying something in the perfume world. I wish I could love it, but honestly I don’t think I even like it. I admire it for it’s originality, but it’s just not meshing with my skin chemistry.

This is interesting, but I hate it.
I sprayed some on, and I asked what my best friend thinks ….
She said:”It smells like a cannabis rose! Smells like dirty hippies in the woods….I like dirty hippies in the woods when I’m in the woods!”
She self-identifies as a hippy, kind of.
I asked her especially about this scent since she likes patchouli, and I hate it, as many of you already know.
Anyway, for a scent I almost hate, I think this is quite interesting, especially as a chypre–
It’s dry, but kind oily and fresh at the same time. It’s mean and green, but natural, and it doesn’t smell like head shop oils, even if it’s oily. I have never smoked pot, but I can say this reminds me of cannabis smoke, from what I remember, even if it doesn’t quite smell like that.
If you’re allergic to patchouli, don’t bother, your nose will probably itch. If you love chypres, find yourself a sample of this.

I actually liked it very much! You won`t find any cannabis in it, but it`s quite alright. It is a duet of rose and patchouli, very sweet and earthy. I even detect tea notes in base, though rose is dominating all the time – it is a heavy scented centifolia in full bloom, oily and indecent. After a while, there is tea and rose, and a very subtle patchouli…I would say – it is a romantic scent, for a bold woman who has 60s in her heart.
BTW, patchouli have a moldish scent and at first may seem unpleasant…But for me it`s almost always worth waiting, I love patchouli!

This scent and I did not get along…at all! I typically am not a “scrubber”, but within ten minutes I had to wash this off of my skin. I really thought I would like it based on its notes, too!
I immediately detected the rose…but not a red rose, a very sharp, green rose that wasn’t ready to be trimmed yet. If roses were fruit, the first ten minutes of this fragrance smells like an un-ripe rose! This dominated the entire scent and I was unable to smell ANYTHING else in it.
Very strange fragrance to my nose, and also very unpleasant. I almost felt like it might make me start wheezing (I’m asthmatic & allergic to inside mold and such.) I’ve never felt like that after smelling a fragrance before…so glad I sampled it first!

I have had more time to “get to know” this scent, and it is now one of my favorites~especially with the cold air mixing and blowing it around. It reminds me of a bright, soft, warm fuzzy scarf…an expensive one. 🙂

I have recently purchased this perfume, and after a couple of uses it grew on me. It is definetely a new scent, to me, so after my initial response of ~whoa! now it is more like ~Wow! The Patchouli is very noticable from the first, even though it is a base note. Bergamot softens after a few minutes, and you are left with a much softer nicer scent after is “settles in”. :)If you like a unique, modern scent then you might like this.
