A nice violet scent – not very sweet but
Very woody & powdery pleasant .
Not long lasting though
Kind of like violets in the wind – here one minute – gone the next .

Can anyone speak to how close this may be to L’Artisans Verte Violette? Could it be considered unisex? I enjoy wearing violet as a guy and love Verte Violette but it being discontinued am looking for the closest match. I also wear Sens et Bois, Petrana, Violetta de Parma and Lightscape)but I’m looking for more fresh/true/green than overly powdery.

I really REALLY enjoy this. I will update with longevity/projection later, but I wanted to note that it so reminds me of a less than perfect Vivienne Westwood Boudoir…..which is a total LOVE for me. Very close, but Boudoir is a little more complex. Still a great fragrance for a great price!
The longevity and projection are pretty much as stated above. Moderate for both. However, with the inexpensive price tag, you can go nuts reapplying!

Sometimes I crave a shot of innocence; violets or Lily of the Valley always do it for me. This is a lovely, realistic violet that has a bit of body to it. Silage is moderate, longevity somewhat fleeting, about 6 hours on me, as befits an EDT. A fine choice for hot weather, it’s light enough to be worn easily without overwhelming the senses.

Calypso Violette, with its fruity, powdery, woodsy violets, is nice but way too artificial. It starts off with bright fruity notes with a strong alcohol smell, and as the top notes burn off and the powdery violets emerge, this nasty plastic scent that Musume mentioned becomes noticeable. It’s too difficult to ignore.
The plastic smell reminds me of Gucci Rush, except that it doesn’t seem to belong in CV. The plastic note in Rush really seems to belong there, and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Not so much with this.
I can actually see how a previous reviewer would compare CV to a plastic doll. As much as I used to like CV, I just can’t wear it anymore. The plastic annoys me too much.

First half hour I smell woody violets, second half hour plastic violets, then nothing. So sad:(

Simple, pure violets. Like I just knelt down to take a sniff in a meadow on a purple twilit eve. Reminiscent to the violet that is in Iris d Nuit. Delicate, dusted, melancholic, transported to another place and time. Romance in a bottle. Softly spoken…
An old fashioned romance…Lovely ethereal twilit perfume
This is Debussy’s “Moonlight” playing on the wind…

When I first sprayed this, it took a couple minutes for it to wear down and smell just perfect. I told my husband…I know this smell…from when I was like 7 years old…a doll perhaps???? Why would I associate this smell with a DOLL? I was sucked up into a whirlwind of nostalgia. I’m a Google freak, and got online and searched violet scented dolls, and found the exact smell. From the 60’s, a violet Liddle Kiddles Kologne doll. I only remembered they were called Lucky Lockets, which may have been more popular than the Kologne version I got. I remember loving the smell of that doll. This has been one of the strongest scent associations I’ve ever had. I was kinda tickled how my brain worked on it’s own! Is this why I love violet now? or did I just plain love violet from the begining of time? hmmm…this was a fun scent trip, and thank goodness for computer search engines! I may have burnt my lil’ ol’ brain out trying to figure this one on my own! If you like violets even a little bit, you should love this scent. This scent is so perfect, it’s purely bottled air surrounding a field of violets…such a dream. I’m saving mine for spring/summer, but any day is the day for this scent.

I’m pretty sure there are fields of violets in heaven. I adore violet…and if I didn’t, LesleyA could very well have made me long for it more than any other scent with that word perfect review! Those words must have floated down to earth like a snowflake. To say the least, I’ve already ordered it and won’t be able to sleep now thankyouverymuch! I have one pure violet fragrance and I never wear it….because what if we run out of violets!? NOT likely but…that’s how I feel, and I savor this little bottle like it’s the last one on earth. I’ve ordered a large bottle of this and believe me, no matter how light this scent is, people WILL be able to smell this on me! I will replace this with a real review when the time comes.

I just received this and tried it for the first time. I enjoy the “note” violet, but hadn’t yet worn a violet soliflore, so this is my first, and I think I love it. I’m partial to floral-sweet scents vs. vanilla/sugar-sweet. That’s what attracts me to violet petals-their candied floral scent. (All the reviews for violet fragrances talk about these violet candies, and I am DYING to try them!! )
Calypso Violette is for sure sweet, but pleasantly so-doesn’t enter cloying territory at all. My nose can’t single out the honey note, but I’m sure it enhances the already sweet violet petal scent. When I first applied this, my heart sank, because I smelled tobacco. Ugh. Sweet pipe tobacco. 🙁 Pleasant and comforting on my great uncle, but not what I strive to smell like. BUT….that disappeared within 3 minutes or so, and turned into the pretty, delicate, mildly sugary violet petal scent I was hoping for! Yaay! It literally made me feel light on my feet, and energized. Lol (scents are so powerful-it always still amazes me). Like the honey, I also cannot pick out the rose, which I’m assuming points to a very well-blended fragrance. However, as I wore this, I was reminded, several times of Chloe, Love, which I also own and…love. teehee
So maybe that’s the rose peeking through? Or maybe there’s lots of violets in Love? Not sure, but it was just little, fleeting, peek-a-boo suggestions of Love. The two certainly aren’t interchangeable. So those who don’t enjoy Love should not be scared away.
CV is light, and delicate, so I wasn’t expecting it to be noticed, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive compliments when I ventured out in it. And longevity…oh my goodness!!! I woke up several times last night wondering what that pretty smell was! One of my little boys crawled into bed at 6 am with me, and said “you didn’t wash your perfume off before bed, and you smell pretty.” And he was not exaggerating! I smelled like a violet as I stepped into the shower today! Craaaazy longevity! 19+ hours –honest!! :O
Hmmm…wonder which poor bottle is about to get knocked off my favorites shelf to make room for this?….
gintarux – :
I like CV, but I’m not sure why. It has a bit of an attractive/repulsive thing going on. Sweet, fruity violet (attractive). Bitter alchoholic notes (repulsive).
Eventually it settles down into a pleasant violet scent.
el5902 – :
This is my favorite in this line..It’s sweet but not too sweet. It layers well with other scents,I like layering with Warm Vanilla Sugar or Angel. It’s a really pretty soft scent.

My grandmother had a violet perfume in a crystal bottle in her bathroom which she said was precious thus my love of the scent. she also kept violets in her garden of every type. this perfume is the closest to that scent which I can find.Just heavenly and definitely worth putting into crystal.
ahmed21 – :
Violets, violets, everywhere. Nothing but violets going on here. If you love violets, you will love this, if not, you should pass. I feel soft and pretty wearing this. Sillage is there but not overpowering~ kind of just right. Decent longevity. I like it alot.
ЕВГЕНИЯ 91 – :
I didn’t detect any honey or rose. For me, it was a simple, yet refined, single-note violet fragrance, and so far, the most pleasant violet scent I’ve tested.
Violet notes are usually a challenge on my chemistry, often presenting themselves as sharp or green, but this fragrance was easily enjoyable! I still don’t know if I love the note itself, though…
BUT I am very impressed with the quality of the Calypso Christiane Celle fragrances I’ve tested so far!
vsetv – :
Violet lovers rejoice: Calypso Christiane Celle VIOLETTE is a gorgeous, natural and utterly appealing, quasi-soliflore violet perfume created specifically for you. There are a lot of violet quasi-solifores around, and nearly every French house has one in its line-up. How to choose between violets and more violets? I’m happy to be able to say that one virtue of this Christian Celle composition is its decent longevity, which I’ve found to be weak, at best, in most natural violet perfumes.
I also like the slightly powdery quality of VIOLETTE. The sweetness smells not so much like honey as the natural sweetness of violet. Fortunately this is a no-sugar-added perfume, so although it is sweet, it is not at all cloying. Highly recommended to all and only violet lovers!
FlutMupttag – :
I have to agree with Miss Guerlain. I have never found a more true violet perfume than this one. It’s very sheer and light. I don’t smell notes of anything other than violet. Maybe Amethystar got a bottle that had gone bad.
Laciss – :
I totally disagree with “Amethyststar’s” review! Gosh that review is just really disturbingly wrong!!! This is an truely truely amazing deep violet scent – and staying-power amazing!! Doesn’t get any better than this! The scent feels really niche & expencive! Great great value for your money! **LOVE LOVE LOVE**

I see why there are no reviews of this–undoubtedly anyone else who bought it wanted to scream, too! This is VILE. No other word for it. Violets, rose, jasmine–I love them, but holy cow, what did they do, drag them thru axel grease and pig dung? I sprayed it on and almost vomited, literally–and I can’t scrub it off. There is something nasty in here, a sharp edge like rancid grease–shudder—–run away from this one!
