Yup it was pretty while it lasted which was not long smelled like beach roses at first, then got soapy which was still pretty. Then poof! It’s gone. I put in Dior addict on my other wrist the same time and that is still lingering vanilla.

I received this in the mail today and could hardly wait to try it, so I didn’t! I must say the first blast of rose scent was incredible! Then when I was expecting the next phase with anticipation, it never arrived! Poof! In 15 minutes it was gone! What a complete bummer! I will try it again and layer it with some of my other more complex and lasting rose scents to see if I can amp it up a bit. It might work. I will let you know. but on its own, it was a complete bust in the longevity and sillage areas. I can’t recommend it and certainly won’t buy it again, Room spray anyone?

Calypso Christiane Celle ROSE is not really a rose perfume, as contradictory as that may sound. To my great surprise, ROSE is a complex creation with a mimosa-like facet–oddly enough. The iris, the freesia, and the rose, together with the clove (which I do not detect at all, fortunately…) impart a mimosa-like quality to the composition as a whole. Bizarre, I know, but that’s what my nose found in ROSE!
I had been expecting a rose solifore of either the rosebush-in-a-blender or the dowager variety. ROSE is nothing like either of those. The rose note does come through a bit more forcefully in the drydown, but overall, this is a swirling floral symphony with notes woven tightly together to produce an overall effect somewhat closer to mimosa than to rose. Very natural smelling and definitely worth sniffing–provided that you like flowers!

UPDATE: MISTAKES WERE MADE. The above review was based on a vial apparently mislabeled by the decanter. It may have contained CALYPSO MIMOSA. Having now worn CALYPSO ROSE from the bottle several times, I can affirm that the vial contained a different perfume (which was why it did not seem like a rose-focused creation to me…) I’m leaving this review as a caveat emptor to those who use decanters…
