I was gifted a bottle from a generous Fragrantica member and I dig this juice. The first few minutes are a little dusty due to the heavy Licorice, but after about 30min it mellows out and the Orange, Cognac, Apple and Wood notes come forward balancing it out nicely. Cafe BL has a really great woody dry-down and I feel it’s the part and really shines, especially in cooler Fall/early Winter temps.
Performance on me is more like an EdC with moderate longevity and soft sillage (similar in performance to CKbe) but as a skin scent it lingers for a good while and I will get wafts of it 6-7 hours later. I think it’s nearly impossible to over-spray Cafe BL, spraying on clothes will improve performance some. This is a great little fragrance that’s worth checking out.

Boy do I get the cedar, woodsy, licorice! And I love it! Have always wanted a woody, forest-type scent; and now I have it! Great swap!

This is clearly the best and most unique from the cofinluxe café line. The Cognac and Licorice are present from the start, the red apple and woody notes, along with the amber you can smell in the background. I don’t get coffee at all, anywhere, not sure why a previous reviewer said that, it’s not in the ingredients so perhaps the combo of licorice and cognac are confusing them. This scent is mostly cognac and licorice, the apple is present but it’s far from fruity, if you get a chance to smell this or you own this scent.
The scent is nothing short of amazing, no problem with it being a straight forward scent, it doesn’t change much on the drydown, it is extremely good smelling throughout, it’s definitely not a young, or teenager scent. This scent is too sophisticated and different for a kid to even understand what the combination of cognac/licorice mixed with cedar/apple smells like.
This cologne is extremely unique, there’s honestly nothing like it I’ve ever smelled. I’ve had one other cofinluxe café scent, the espresso, and while the scent was nice, it faded after 30 minutes to just about disappear completely. Longevity on this café black seems to be 4 hours on clothes, 5 hours on skin as I wore this scent out last night, it was high 60’s in temperature last night, it fit perfectly with the temperature and for nighttime. If you have oily skin, it may wear off faster on your skin. Not sure you’d want to wear this during the daytime in 80′ – 90′ temps, it seems to work much better as a nighttime scent with 50’s to 70′ temps. Well worth the pricetag to me, but honestly I should buy another bottle of this, it doesn’t seem readily available everywhere, and I’ve never smelled this scent on anyone before. My ratings are:
    Scent: 9.5/10.
    Longevity:6/10
    Sillage/Projection:5/10
    Unique/Industry First:10/10
    Quality:8/10
It’s just so different. I love cognac so this one was easy to wear. This is probably the first and only time I’ll say this to a cofinluxe café product, but job well done. This one I’ll definitely keep in my rotation and use regularly.
I never base my scent reviews on the bottle design, price, brand or advertising. I only rate it on how great or bad the scent is, the longevity, the sillage as different occasions call for stronger or milder sillage, how unique it is, and the quality of ingredients.

This is a very unusual and intoxicating scent. I can say, I have ever smelled anything else quite like it. This smells like fall. Apple cider and wood smoke. it is very boozy and woodsy and I think many women who also enjoy men’s scents would love this, but to me, this does not really seem like a men’s scent at all.

A boozy sweet cognac opens this fragrance. It’s fruited with apple my favorite fruit note. As a result it smells like apple cider! If you like the smell of apple cider you’ll love this. I don’t know why they call it a fragrance “for men”. It’s not for men, it’s for me! It’s for anyone male or female who loves apple cider and woods. The woods scent is also very strong and becomes dark and exotic. I could only get a whiff of faint in-the-background flowers possibly a light gardenia and white jasmine and white rose. On me the apple and cognac cider type of scent was the strongest. This is delicious and very woodsy. Out of nowhere comes a very sweet licorice smell. There could also be a violet flower that also tends to smell like licorice or a lavender. It’s not very aromatic though. It’s detectable to others but not strong. It’s nice. I guess this is my first time wearing a man’s cologne! Guys should try this for sure because girls will love it on them but girls check this out for yourselves. This smells so good!

This is the men’s Café fragrance? Whatever, smells like it’s for women too. This is a sweet, but strong coffee scent of licorice, cognac, and dark woods. The woods are the dominant accord which I suppose would like to come off as masculine but I always think of woodsy notes as chypre notes in women’s frags. Musk, to my nose, is masculine and this has no musk. This also has detectable abstract white floral scents. I smelled touches of jasmine. The fruits include apple and citrus. There is also amber. The cognac scent gives it a warmth and elegance. I envision a woman in a form fitting skinny black evening gown that makes her whole body look feline and she’s walking slowly and leisurely around art galleries observing paintings while drinking cognac. This scent is very sexy, very alluring. I can smell this on both men and women who want to seduce someone on a date. This is a hot date night fragrance. I love it more than the original Café for women because this one has that richer darker aroma of seduction whereas Café was only flirty.

So nice… so good… almost an “I told you so” aroma.
A good & cheap surprise for the spring & summertime weekends or hollydays.
Mainly coffe, a sweet one, unidimensional but pleasant.
Moderate all around (quality, sillage, longevity etc.).
    A deserved 7,5/10

Quite linear warm fruity scent based on a sweet apple and orange chord enveloped by a woody note, maybe cedar with some oud. It is a very happy, youngful and casual scent with a moderate lasting power.
