The drydown is very similar to Decadence, try them on paper strip side and side and wait 24 hours

This scent is very complex, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone in here. It is definitely a feminine scent, with some unusual notes that gives it some character. It is more of an evening perfume and indeed has a lot of sillage! For sure you won’t find this scent boring! More of an oriental-chypre with some sweetness, but not overly sweet..
The more I wear this, the more I find it behaves like a fruitchouli. Patchouli is not listed in the notes, but it definitely feels like there is some in here.
Update: I just tested Decadence by Marc Jacobs, and it is absolutely true that they smell the same. This one is a bit harsher with the ‘patchouli’ note, but otherwise, they have the exact same dry down.

Love Mr. Buble so much and I, like so many others, wanted this fume to be great. For me, this was a scrubber! So harsh and masculine, with searing woods and strong pungent herbs. I got absolutely no flowers, just a sickening patchouli blast. I must admit I am a real patchouli hater, so I am prejudiced. My husband thought it was horrific too. Michael oozes class, I just don’t understand where he is coming from with this one. I am also baffled by discriptions, both good and bad. I find this smell (and I do mean SMELL) is the polar opposite of sweet, my nose must be completely opposite of other reviewers. Another thing that escapes me is the praline reference. It’s used descriptively often, but I have never smelled praline when it is highlighted as a note. Praline candy smells yummy. Brown sugar, butter and pecans. The reviews I’ve seen mentioning praline as an ingredient for any fragrance smell like old rubber tires soaked in patchouli. I’m very confused here. Is it moi? I’m so sorry Michael, but for me, I think you should stick to singing.

Someone wrote on here I’m torn and that is exactly how I feel about this fragrance. For me it goes on smelling beautiful and then as the day draws on it reminds me slightly of a baby who has farted. Then on other days I can wear it and it stays lovely and fresh. It’s not a fragrance that I can wear too close to the front of my body either otherwise I start to get somewhat headachy. I am big Buble fan and although I love his music and like the the bottle, this fragrance leaves me lingering on whether to purchase it again and if it’s safe to wear in public due to the different smells I get from it once it’s exposed to my skin. It smells lovely from the bottle but I am sort of unsure on this one. I am wearing it at home at the moment and so far I have not had any weird smells.

Got gifted this for xmas and thought I did not like it at first – itd not really something I would buy.But after wearing it a few days I might keep it as I own nothing like this.
Its cheep sickly sweet to open and half berries half praline. Nothing else to me. No floral no bergamot.
Then starts to get woodsy and vanilla. I enjoy the drydown most – the sweet chills tfo and the warm sandalwood comes to play for 8-10 hours.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this Fragrance! I first tried it on in a grocery store and couldn’t stop smelling myself. The ONLY celebrity fragrances I like are SJP LOVELY and Katy Perry PURR. I have a selection of over 100 varieties of Perfumes, so I am not lacking. I got this one in a cheap way. I purchased about 8 of the 12 sample packs of these. Each sample was 1.5 mL and one sleeve gave me 18 mL. I just opened the vials and dumped them into an empty plastic fragrance bottle. Each sample pack cost me $2.50. DEAL! It has almost a rummy start like CH 212 VIP and then just smooths out beautifully!
    Longevity is a 10/10 12 hours approx.

I bought some samples they eBay of this perfume and love it. It’s not too powerful and not too light. One of my new favorites!

I don’t really get the Marc Jacobs Decadence comparison. To me this is a sister to Elie Saab edp in the beginning and first half hour to an hour, and then it dries down to
something very chocolaty/praline-like and berry ish, which is rather close to Lancôme La Vie Est Belle.
As many have said is it a very classy and feminine perfume. Truly lady like and just beautiful. I think it will appeal to many women, and will probably be a safe gift for many.
The bottle is very pretty and classy.
All in all a very nice womanly perfume, with great projection, and great lasting power, in a beautiful bottle. I’m very happy with it 🙂

You know so many people have compared this to Marc Jacobs Decadence! It’s true! I own both and they are so similar its crazy. By invitation is a bit sweeter than decadence but they are so alike. And with so many people comparing the two you would think that the decadence picture would remain listed as this smells like, but as usual with the perfume snobs out there who can’t stand their so called high end perfume being compared to a celebrity fragrance, the small minded keep deleting it. How annoying when some of us are actually able to appreciate fragrance for what it is.

    This is a decadence dupe.
Not at first spray but once it settles on the skin it is very close to decadence.
    Doesn’t smell anything like lveb

This isn’t a bad perfume… but… I just don’t care for it. My tastes have changed I guess. To my memory, it smells just like Sofia, the first scent from Sofia Vergara. I liked Sofia at first, and bought a full bottle after my first test.
But then it dried down, got cloying/cheap, and just wasn’t “nice” anymore. The first 10 min were nice, very LVEB-esque…
Buble is the same. I liked the opening… the first spray. But then it got spicy and woody, and cheap/cloying like Sofia. On a good note, on spray shared between my wrist lasted about 10 hours! And my skin eats perfume! I didn’t hate this, but I’ve moved on. (Plus I own LVEB, Jeanne Arthes Perpetual Pearl, Sofia, Agent P Fatale, etc….)

This is definitely for those out there that like a sweet vanilla scent. I get more of the wood/ musk notes in the dry down and could actually imagine this scent being worn by a man. The florals, in particular the lily of the valley do not come through with my skin chemistry. One spritz is enough as it has a great longevity and a moderate silage.

Found this at SDM today on the $19.99 shelf. About 4 hours ago I sprayed the tester and grabbed a bottle – I like it. I think. Not opened it yet…. There’s something about it that reminds me of something I don’t like – another fragrance I think I have and don’t use – so until I figure that out I’m fence sitting. I may return it but not likely the more I wear it the more I like it
It’s good. It’s still pretty strong on the back of my hand and that doesn’t happen often. I’m getting lovely whiffs from time to time but when I smell it directly it’s not as nice.
    I’ll update when I’ve decided.
Longevity is amazing. – Lasts a good long while with one spray!!

If you like sophia vegara from modern families perfume or forbidden euphoria by calvin klein you may like this. It is extremely sweet but slightly powdery and musky but the sweetness is always their like brandy snaps from the eighties or maple syrup on pancakes. I do like it, it is insanely strong lovely bottle. Lasts for ages with strong projection. I think if you were to use all the body products it would be far too strong just 1 squirt with this one.

I really dig Michael’/s music and he is hot.
So I got this perfume with great excitement.
When I tested it, it was great!
But after wearing it once for the entire day, it was too much….
I cant wear it, it overwhelms me with somewhat chemical scent that goes up my nose…
    Very sad…

On my skin this is a Rose, sandalwood, bergamot and praline delight! I really love it! I am not seeing the connection to LVEB like, AT ALL… And I own and love both… I just don’t find them similar in even the least little bit. If I was pressed to compare this to another fragrance I would say it’s in the same vein as Kim Kardashian Gold. Not a dupe by any means, but similar to that one. This one could be sold as a lighter, classier flanker of Gold. I highly recommend trying this. It’s really nice!

I just smelled this tonight at at local store. I was able to spray it from a large sample bottle. My grown daughter was with me, and she immediately said it smelled good. She’s sort of particular about scents, so I’m amazed we both liked it. I thought this had good projection, and it seemed to wear a long time on my perfume eating skin. It’s a decent price for the 1.7 ounce EDP, so I’m hoping I might get it for Mother’s Day 😉
My daughter did get me this for Mother’s Day, along with treating me to a nice steak dinner. After wearing this a couple days, I can officially say “it’s amazing”! I just love how this develops, and it’s sweet without being too sweet, and it’s slightly woody without being too woody(I have trouble with some woody perfumes). It’s well blended, and I prefer it over some of my Dior’s and Chanel. It wears a long time too, which isn’t something I can say often. The bottle looks pretty sitting out too. It’s my new favorite, and definitely in my top ten. I don’t find this to be a lot like La Vie est Belle, and I like this a lot better than LVEB, and I think it wears better than LVEB. I also have Marc Jacobs’ Decadence, and to me, they aren’t the same.

  19. :

I like this one. Great lasting power. I tried Marc Jacobs Decadence on paper and wow, it smells very similar! No clue why though since none of the notes of By Invitation and Decadence match up.
It doesn’t smell like LVEB at all to me.
By Invitation has a salty note (looking at the notes I’m not sure what could cause that) which reminds me of Olympea- like they could be cousins.
So to sum up, By Invitation smells like a classy, expensive perfume. It’s well blended so the individual notes are hard to pick. Great lasting power. I’m waiting for it to come down in price before I buy it though, since all celeb fragrances drop in price after a year or two.

how on earth you could compare this to LVEB and Decandance, I have no idea but both smell completely different to me and I have them all! Decandance, I can smell that a mile away, very impressive dark scent..ie night, most probably /autumn winter scent and both smell oh so ….go smell them when it’s this weather …the Buble smell could most prob hang out a bit of the summer time and it came out in Australia during the spring so work that one out…it’s still not a bad fragrance considering, but i expect it to get thinner in the smell soonish as all those tend to get toned down towards the masses

Oh Lord, I am sad…. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted to love this… but I don’t… Horrible, loud screaming flowers, strong woods and powdery grandma’s perfume notes. It smells like those cheap perfumes that want to smell like rich ones… It sucks though cause the bottle is gorgeous… And I like Michael a lot! But to me, this is a big, big, big fail…

On paper, this parfume has a masculine touch. I Will try it on my skin later but i see no ressemblance to La vie est belle so far. I Will update.
Update. I do not like the opening. Much too strong !! I still have a feeling thaïs perfume is masculine… After 45 Minutes, it Starts to be more wereble. Drydown is sensual and better than the firsts notes.

I was nervous to buy a parfum without the opportunity to smell it first. I figured I would try it and if I didn’t like it, return it. I spritzed it on and went to a meeting and was complimented by 3 different women. 2nd day, a male asked what I was wearing and where to get it for his wife. I highly recommend you to try.

    I’M TORN
    ______________________________________________________
I came across Michael Buble’s ‘BY INVITATION’ late December during a meeting. A colleague of mine had it on and it was very sweet and very pleasant.
Several days later another colleague (from another department) wore it and it smelled completely different. It hat a certain freshness and fruitiness about it. It was quite pleasant and dynamic. Today I had the opportunity to try it on. On my skin it resembles ‘La Petite Robe Noir Intense’ and it reminds me a lot of Lancome’s ‘La Vie est belle’ -> 2 scents I can truly live without.
Although I don’t like how it smells on my skin, I cannot be too harsh to it, because it smells very pleasant on certain people around me – in a way I’m torn…
    Longevity: – 3/10
    Sillage: – 6/10
All in all: 3 out of 10 points

This is the duplicate version of Lancome La Vie Est Belle. Yes! I tried this one at my local shop. First impression I thought it was LVEB. Later on, it was classy scent and smelled 90% like LVEB but more fruity. The price 90USD (include tax) at my local shop, so I think I will pay more 10-20 dollars for LVEB. It have nice packaging, impressive bottle, nice longevity but I’m so sorry I pay more attention for the scent. So sorry, Michael. I love your music but the fragrance is no.

Straight away I could compare this to Marc Jacobs Decadence which I had recently purchased. It was on special for Christmas at $29.99 in Chemist Warehouse so I couldn’t pass it by. It’s longevity is amazing. I wore it to the beach and I could still smell it on my skin after 30 minutes in the ocean. The sillage is good too. I generally suit perfumes with vanilla undertones like Dior Addict and YSL Manifesto, so this is great for me. I also love that it has a slightly masculine woody note. Very sensuous. Definitely an evening fragrance and long lasting just like Michael’s music. Love it!!

Tried it on paper yesterday and first impression was LVEB (cousin, sister something along those lines). Will skin test again to see how it develops. Beautiful packaging!
Edit: Skin tested also and yes, it is like a little fruitier LVEB but way sharper. Not for me or my body chemistry. Sorry Michael!

Tried this on today and was quite surprised. Dont normally go for the perfumes that have been released by the likes of Hilton, perry, Jlo etc etc but quite like By Invitation.
    It has good longevity.
Reminds me a little of the original Burberry London, just a little softer.

  31. :

Gourmand and fruity. It’s all about the praline, bergamot and red berries on me. I do get some rose but more so peony and mostly jasmine on my skin in the light/detectable floral layers. There is the slightest hint of green (lotv) which gives off a hollier Xmas vibe with the red berries and praline. Ofcorse, vanilla is there to tie everything together throughout the top, heart & base. The bergamot brightens the composition up a lot giving it a lot of sparkle, perhaps ambroxan, which is the part that sets this one a bit different than the many others this has/will be compared to. This is an appropriate scent for fall & winter.
To me, this is a cross between LVEB and Bebe Nouveau and even Kim K Gold. The berries in Buble By Invitation are bright red and holly while LVEB are dark and red wine-like. There are no berries in Bebe Noveau or Kim Kardashian’s Gold but the citrus notes (sour) with sweet notes and jasmine are reminiscent of eachother.
This smells like a few others in my collection. It makes me wonder if i’ll reach for any of the like in the near future knowing how many perfumes smell like this out there now.
I have no interest in using any more of the one sample i tested from, let alone, the 3 that were put in my bag at the perfume counter.
    Throw: light/moderate 4/10
    Longevity: moderate/long lasting 6-7 hrs 7/10
Overall rating from me: 5/10 due to lack of originality but yet i do find this very festive for the upcoming seasons in my country.

Michael Buble, sweet darling, leave making fragrances to those who actually know how to do this in an inspirational manner. Just carry on doing what you are doing best, singing same old uninspiring Christmas songs, won’t you.

That is sweet. If you love vanilla, go for it! Praline and vanilla are the most prominent notes. It lasts FOR EVER. Huge sillage and longevity.

This perfume opens with a realistic fruity blast that is kept from being sickeningly sweet with the addition of Italian lemon giving a tiny touch of citrus, and then swiftly morphs into a blend of spicy peony, praline and sandalwood. If the lily of the valley is there it’s playing a supportive roll, maybe giving a hint of fresh creaminess to it all. The dry down. Oh my god it’s delicious! Tons of vanilla soaked sandalwood with a bit of patchouli giving it depth. Can you tell if I like it yet? 🙂 I don’t now how they were able to pack so much punchy personality into this, and yet keep it sheer enough for daytime. Sillage moderate with a single spray. I can see my self wearing this day or night and in every season. It’s classy, it’s quirky. This scent has universal use. Adding this to my top shelf now! 😀

Saw this at Shoppers today (Canadian). Beautiful bottle though the bracelet is quite narrow so the whole thing is prone to tip over easily as it did on the display. I would have bought one just for the bottle design. The juice is reminiscent of Marc Jacobs Decadence. The opening is subdued sandalwood. Within five minutes, it morphs into a sweet-fruity-floral fume. The bergamot keeps it interesting though no rose can be found. Eventually, it settles into a musky praline-dipped floral with vanilla. Sensual and am betting that my hubby would lean in for a hug quite often. Sillage keeps close so I could use this for a cubicle-style office. Classy from bottle to scent – just like Michael!
    One spray on me
Sillage: have to lean in and no trail
    Longevity: about 3 hours
    Rating: 4/5

  39. :

    4 out of 5

By Invitation by Michael Buble is indeed a classy scent. It’s feminine and romantic, but don’t expect a powerhouse fragrance. It’s light but has good longevity. On my skin, I get mostly the rose, sandalwood, praline with nuances of lily of the valley. I think this would be good for autumn and spring, for those in-between temperature days. I do wish it was a bit stronger and maybe a little heavier on the praline, but it’s still a lovely perfume. Overall, I’m quite happy with his first release into perfumery. Good job, Mr. Buble!

  40. :

    3 out of 5

I’m going to say that By Invitation smells similar to Decadence by Marc Jacobs, the difference is the way the patchouli and praline mix together. I would also say that I like this more than Decadence, because Decadence ” is too in your face ” while this is nice, and lovely, because of the mix of notes, so it’s more wearable, and enjoyable, were as Decadence can be cloying. I also could see this as a toned down Decadence, I would say they are around 60% similar. Decadence has the Plum, safforn, and vetiver smell, to me By Invitation is praline, sandalwood, patchouli, and light florals. I can also smell the bergamont. I can smell them all faintly, but I see the rose, and peony mixing together to create something nice, and elegant. This to me is more of a evening perfume, a great date night perfume, not too heavy, but just perfect for the night. The silage is a step above average, longevity haven’t wore this enough, If I review this perfume on Youtube I will update on that. This perfume is great for fall, I also could see this as someones signature perfume. Soft, Romantic, and Elegant is the three words I would describe this perfume as. Also the bottle is amazing, I also have the body lotion, which reminds me of the 80s. Overall I give this perfume a 8/10. I really hope to see another perfume by him. Also I see the sandalwood in this perfume reminding me of Outspoken Party by Fergie. I will say By Invitation is a step above them all.

ATTENTION: If you guys want this but don’t want to spend 70 DOLLARS just wait a few months til the perfume is available in retail stores and gets priced down. HSN tends to over price fragrances when they first launch because they are “exclusives”. But I know that it will definitely be waaayy cheaper later on.
