This stuff smells like grass clippings right after a mowing. Ugh!

This was one of the first perfumes I bought when I started my (now massive) collection, instead of just incidentally buying or getting gifts. It must have been 2004 or 2005 but I didn’t wear it regularly until a few years later when I was in college in San Francisco. I have good associations with it.
I find it to be very pleasant, but also substantial and earnest. There is nothing really “fun” or cute about it. It is perfect for year round. On me, it starts with the unmistakable green tea and zestiness, then it mellows down to a woodiness that is not too “perfumey” but smells like a natural, individual scent. That’s the best thing about it.
I have no idea of they ever reformulated this one, but the one I have last ALL. DAY.

The opening is sharp, citrusy, somehow grassy, hits you directly and loudly! But after those few moments of shock a transformation takes place – it becomes softer, creamier, gentler. For me the drydown is best described as creamy, you can still feel the citrus but it’s subtle and gentle this time, pleasant. I say give it a go, even if it isn’t love at first sniff, it might be at the third one.

For me this is not fresh/ spring/ summery choice, Extreme is authmn/winter season through and through. Under the cool surface spicy warmth lurks, earthy vapour just like the one soil exhales in the colder months. Initial freshness is like a fast paced walk when the breeze hits your face. Extreme really is that- bracing and comforting at the same time.

This was my first serious perfume since I started to wear them on almost a daily basis. It was given to me as a gift for my birthday and I had the ”honor” to choose it myself. That was 10 years ago and I still have 5 milimeters left of it. It smells exactly the same and to me it’s like a song about freedom 🙂

I think they have discontinued the Extreme. I can’t find it on Bulgari’s website at all. I found some on Amazon, but I don’t trust it. I’m very sad because I loved this fragrance, and people always said I smelled great when I wore it.

Has the extreme version been discontinued ? I’ve looked on the web and can’t find it, only the long slim bottle….or have they just changed the bottle design for this ?
    Thanks for your help.

I like this one, although I prefer the original eau parfumee au vert.
This has less of a tea vibe, seems sharper on opening, and generally has a less naturalistic feel than the original. It is stronger, in terms of projection, although it does not last longer. It lacks the soft, gentle, freshness of the original vert. Not as refreshing as the original; in some ways I think it is just too strong; a scandalous concept, i know.
A lot of citrusy bergamot and pepper— and peppery black pepper at that. My favorite part of this is the dose of almond, which is quite noticeable and pleasant.
I would class this one as more on the “masculine” end of the scale, as it is quite cologne-like. I like this one, but I don’t love it; and I do love the original vert.

Well this has the sad distinction of being one of the few fragrances I really struggle with. I bought it as a miniature online and it was taking so long to arrive that I got impatient and ordered a full bottle because I was that sure I’d love it…. It smells like Aerogard on me (an Australian bug repellant)!! The initial notes are so sharp, citronella-like and chemically that I had to try and scrub it off both times I’ve tried it! I’ve tried it from both the miniature and the full bottle spray and had the same result. So disappointed! I will keep trying though… Summer is just around the corner and so maybe that will be different – or maybe I’ll be able to use it as expensive bug repellant!

I thought I’d really like this one but it’s a no go. It has a slightly smokey? undertone on me that I just can’t tolerate.

An impressive, fresh, green, long-lasting eau de parfum that dries down to resemble Déclaration with a tiny hint of Bvlgari Pour Homme’s musk instead of Déclaration’s dag-nasty cumin. If you love Déclaration but don’t want to smell like thrice-sweaty sourpants, this is it.

This was the first full bottle of perfume I bought. I always thought perfume wasn’t for me, because most of them gave me a headache when I wore them.
One day, on a visit home from college, I was shoppping in Sephora with my mom and sister, and my mom was encouraging me to pick out a perfume. I kind of grumbled about her wasting money on something I probably wouldn’t really wear, but I did try a few things. When I tried Green Tea, I think my mouth dropped open in surprise.
It was so unique to me at the time, and I could wear it and not feel sick! It just seems to fit with my personality: calm, laid back, not a big girly-girl.
Mostly what I get from it is the Bergamot from start to finish, but there’s a peppery-ness to it that makes it awesome. It really lasts all on day on me too. This is what I always wanted out of a perfume. Something kind of exotic, but not floral nor so strong it was nauseating.
My mom bought it for me, and years later, I still wear it all the time. I have since discovered other perfumes I love and can wear, but this is special to me as it was my first! I just bought a beautiful new bottle from Macy’s. It’s tall, with a dark label and beautiful silver writing. One of the nicest bottles I’ve seen.

I can’t smell tea in this Tea.
It’s a subtle, sensous, fairly natural-smelling, pastel, musky-floral scent–quite nice, only not what it’s supposed to be. I feel misled. There’s more green tea in Palmolive Green Tea & Cucumber bar soap.

This is one of my summer or 5/10K race scents – energizing, refreshing, uplifting. My husband finds it rather unpleasant though, so have to be careful wearing it around him. Nice staying power on me, settles into a fresh and somewhat unusual, crispy and somewhat spicy scent.

This is one of my favourite perfumes that I’ve ever owned. I cannot find it anymore but when I did own it it made me happy. I had no idea what notes there was apart from the green tea obviously and how it managed to be a fresh oriental.
Oh how I miss it 🙁
I am currently trying to find a similar fragrance, after all I need a refreshing note amongst all my heavy hitter, but so far no luck.

I want this~!! I have only been able to buy a sample of this:(
A fabulous blend of spices and woody scents, with a clean tea scent in the heart, and soft nice flowers and citrus, very well balanced.
Warm, clean, fresh, very confident, NOTHING like soap, smells very elegant and expensive, just like the price tag of the full bottle. Good sillage and lasting.
I can foresee it becoming my signature scent:)))
An interesting experience to wear it for sure, and I want a full bottle dammit.

I’m not understanding where everyone is getting the impression that it smells floral or “soapy”. This fragrance is anything but that. It’s fresh, clean and a total breath of fresh air. The first impression of this fragrance, I immediately got images of myself, draped in jade jewelery, holding a glass of fresh mint leaves in a mojito, on the rocks on a sunny, breezy beach. (Don’t mistake “beach” for “fruity” or “coconut” as it’s anything BUT that!) I think its fair to say that that’s an accurate review of this unisex cologne. I mean, who WOULDN’T want to smell like what I’ve just described?? I gave this fragrance to my fiancee, and he loves it so much, he’s afraid to waste it and only wears it on special occasions because he wants it to last as long as possible (and it’s kinda special because it was the first gift I gave to him when we got together) We were talking online for four months, and when he finally came to see me, well across the country, that’s what I gave him. We absolutely love this Bvlgari fragrance!!!

the word EXTREME means the perfumer add more citrus on the opening note. Nothing special, I’d prefer the original one, less citrus but its clean, transparent and the most important one… Its Ellena’s tea!

  24. :

Really nice scent. LOVE the green tea effect going on, lightly sweet but not too much. For me, the coriander shows itself stealthily after the first 10 minutes and then becomes more prominent during the dry down. Nice, clean, green. Good warm weather and day time scent.

  25. :

    3 out of 5

I LOVE this scent. It truly is FRESH CITRUS GREEN TEA SCENT (exactly describes it) that is slightly sweet.
Extreme has a much nicer nose to it than the watered down version called simply: “au the Vert”.
It’s more feminine than masculine for sure!
I will be re-buying this one!

  26. :

I agree with zvoncica, that Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Vert Extreme is the best Bvlgari fragrance to this date.
This year Hermes issued Un Jardin sur La Toit and others of Un Jardin series of unisex Eau de Toilet that are unique in a similar way.
No wonder, the perfumer is the same!
Jean-Claude Ellena, the author of Eau Parfumee au The Vert. It’s a signature of Jean Claude Ellena, it’s like no other green fragrance.

Smells like soap on steroids! Absolutely hate it. I can appreciate that it would appeal to some, but unfortunately not me.

  28. :

Yes, I do think this and AG Mandragore Pourpre are similar- this is drier and greener, serene and cooling, beautifully-lacking in the ‘warmth’ that star anise provides in MG, cleaner. I like it very much- it calms my mind, and forms mental-images of wind rushing through a field of grass on an overcast day. And something like the scent of yarrow- only the slightest touch of sweetness to offest the bitter green breeze.

  29. :

    4 out of 5

Not for everyone but, for the right person (thankfully me) it is a fresh, clean, sexy scent. Whenever I wear this, men seem to want to stand closer to me and lot’s of compliments. My favorite of the Bvlgari parfumes so far. If this is not for you, atleast try the Eau de Vert.
    XxxOoo

  30. :

    4 out of 5

I can see a certain resemblance to Mandragore but in this case I can’t find any unisex feature, it is very hard to think how a man could pull this off as it turns extremely facial creamish in its middle stage and a bit pungent, as green tea can become when you leave your green tea bag too long in the cup. I reckon this fragrance is quite distinct for sure but I’ve never been able to fully enjoy it on any lady friend who’s worn it… it simply becomes always pretty talcy and to my nose unrealistic… as if it was an experiment… it doesn’t coalesce but instead, it gives a sense of weirdness as if it was too obvious the perfume has nothing to do with you and you’ve chosen to put your radioactive fern-smelling (heno de pravia for spanish speakers) feet talcum powder all over your body… I prefer it only inside shoes. Pardon me for living, EPATV fans!

Like diving into a cool lake on a hot summer’s day. Exhilirating, refreshing, calming; a paradox. The pepper and bulgarian rose notes and the bergamot – this is almost (or perhaps, is?) better than opening a new tin of a favorite tea and being hit with that first burst of magic from the tin. I love tea. I love au The Vert Extreme.

This is not for everybody but great for me on the day. I love to wear this to the gym as well and everyone asks me what im wearing. I work out in this scent believe it or not and i had a friend pick me up to go out to eat after and as soon as i got in her car she yelled “OMG you smell like a freshly bathed man! mmmmm, so good.” So that was very nice to hear. especially since i did sweat too. not sure if that made the fragrance smell more manly or my sweat mixed with the green tea had the pheromones speak out to her but over all the smell is very calming and refreshing sweating or not.

This is the perfumes the most I loooovvvve. The scent gave my head calm and relax on the hot sunny days in my country. I don’t care that father had it when I was 13 years old, I really want to have it now for me, unfortunately no one still have it to sell in my country!!! AArghhh. I did sms 6 number to ask their stock of Au the Vert Extreme, but nothingg.. ;( nothing…nothing…
Finally, I bought Au the Vert for my longing to treat myself of Au The Vert Extreme.
I know somehow I like tea scent, give my head and feel calm and relax… and this is the Best!!!
    add:
finally I bought at the mall while I was travelling. More expensive of course..but I don’t mind since my hubby love this too. 🙂 He got many compliments absolutely
I keep asking myself…Why is this not boring me at all ?? …Maybe this is just my type

OMG!!! this perfume is sooo overpowering and strong to the first smell . Had the unfortunate pleasure of receiving this perfume by blind purchase and and sprayed it on my wrist boy was that a mistake it smelled of mens grey flannel cologne very manly…..way too much green in this the coriander and cardamon is just way too overpowering . the only good thing I could say is that it lingers to the next day as I tried to wash it off numerous times and still could smell this on my wrist. If you love the BVL line of perfumes this one is a not for the faint of heart.

  35. :

It’s a wonderful, energizing-relaxing, calming, refreshing and yes, Zen-like fragrance. It’s unisex, but I think it’s more for women – but O.K. gentlemen, if you want to wear it, too, I don’t mind:). Sillage is average and lasting power is pretty good on my skin. I love the spices, the green tea and the woodsy notes together, without lemon, and WITHOUT MUSK! (On my skin musk is overwhelming and unpleasant with tea/lavender/rose in scents.) So I love this one, this is the No.1 tea-scent on my wishlist.

  36. :

Bvlgari Eau Parfumee Au The Vert Extreme is the only unisex frag in my collection, and it’s wonderful; I almost never wear citrus aromatics, either, but I happily make an exception here. I first experienced Bvlgari ATV (the original) as bathroom amenities (!!) at a resort hotel in Park City, Utah. I immediately fell in love w/its spicy, citrusy freshness; as its name suggests, ATV Extreme is a stronger, more intense version of the original. to my nose this is a very “cool” scent, perfect for 30C+ temps in our high-desert summers. rather linear but w/good longevity and decent projection (I can still smell ATV Extreme on my wrists while my hands are down on my keyboard, and I applied it ~8 hrs ago). very fresh and uplifting, clean but complex, this is one of the more unique frags I own.

  37. :

This is very woody and smells like forest’s freshness. It makes me feel like I’m in a botanical garden or like I enjoy a green tea in a pretty pub.For me it’s very fresh, soft and nice.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

I got this one just to have something totally different from all my other Bvlgari perfumes. I am not a citrus aromatic wearer, but this one is complex enough to make it worthwhile. The sillage is not the greatest, either, on me… 2 hours…maybe more. I bought the 100ml, so I can be indulgent with using it! It’s really refreshing on just showered skin, and is quite uplifting in that respect. It stays very close to the skin, and does end up smelling very different than when you first apply it. It is a great ‘green’ scent…. 🙂

  39. :

    4 out of 5

I usually don’t like unisex scents, and this is my favourite exception. I love wearing this, and find it more calming and centering than drinking an actual cup of tea. I am always a little leery of perfume labelled “citrus”, but here the citrus never asserts itself – each note is perfectly in harmony with the others, nothing tries to dominate. Truly a masterful example of blending.
At first I found it a touch too feminine to be labelled unisex, and it certainly wouldn’t suit my rather broad and hairy husband. But now I think it might work for a modern, clean-cut, “uptown” sort of guy.
For me, the mental imagery this scent evokes is that of a sea in turmoil, brought to calm when rough winds are broken by a soft, steady breeze. So in that sense this is a powerful, extreme fragrance, for all its gentleness. A must-try for anyone seeking zen through perfume…

Oh its VERY bad to my nose. A blast of medicinal , clove-like antiseptic with a twist of mint. I love Bvlgari fragrances but they flopped on this IMHO. Not green tea at all to my nose but a horrible Vicks 44 old time cough medicine smell. Yuck and more yuck !

  41. :

    3 out of 5

Bvlgari EAU PARFUMEE AU THE VERT EXTREME sounds oxymoronic to me. But I hold green tea in zenlike regard, greatly preferring Japanese varieties such as sencha, bancha, genmaicha, kukicha (green), and of course matcha, which are really destroyed by adulterants such as lemon and cream.
Setting aside concerns with the name of this perfume for the moment, EPATVE opens beautifully with a blast of bitter greens. Very lemony and very green, not in the sense of tea, but more in the sense of grass. This opening reminds me a bit of Bond no. 9 CENTRAL PARK, but after the opening EPATVE becomes a very different kind of scent.
A mild green tea drydown is where this composition finally ends. Light, refreshing and, yes, zenlike, as if to offer a therapeutic reprieve from the exciting Sturm und Drang opening. EAU PARFUMEE AU THE VERT EXTREME smells nice through all of its various stages of development, but the opening and drydown really seem like two completely different perfumes, and those who love the excitement of the opening may be bored by the finish. Those looking for a zenlike green tea fragrance, on the other hand, may be alarmed by the somewhat jolting opening of this one.
I like both stages a lot, but it would be rare to be in a synchronic state of mind so as to be able to appreciate both the opening and the drydown in the sequence in which they unfold in this unique creation.

  42. :

On first application this is incredibly sharp, dry & very, very green; and I love it!
The coriander, bergamot & pepper are seriously strong, but only for the first few minutes. Then it calms down considerably into a very fresh aromatic, slightly woody & surprisingly quite masculine scent.
I really do not detect any kind of floral heart in this. For me it pretty much goes straight from the opening blast to a gentle woody green tea.
Although I’m a big fan of Bvlgari fragrances, for some reason I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do! This is a really excellent fragrance; perfect for the coming Australian Summer!

It is the second day in a row for this gloomy wet weather. however last night I just received my purchase of Vert Extreme in the mail and was fortunate to have wore it today. This perfume somehow enhances the wet grass and fresh ozone, blending to perfection with it’s own fresh a natural qualities.
Green tea and jasmine rose steeped with light spices. these don’t manage to make this perfume seem warm but end on a high note; fresh and green with a tickling of the sensations. For the majority of the perfumes coarse it is the blending of tea, rose and Bvlgari’s speacial jasmine that keeps me to my wrist and a smile on my face every time it wafts my way.
Even though it is green, the crisp cool nature of this fragrance would intrigue in the dry cold months and refresh in the summer. I for one can not wait to try this one all year round.

This is green tea nicely blended with pepper and other notes to make it slightly more interesting, however I still would not buy this, just too boring for me.

I don’t understand why somebody might want to smell like green tea? It is a very clean smell, smooth and close to unnoticable. A green see-through, forgettable and forgiving scent. Almost apologetic. One of the nicest laundry or room scent I could imagine but not for a perfume. Not for me.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

This is one of the first fragrances I have owned and I still remember buying it for the money earned on some petty jobs- the sensation that was there when I opened the bottle- pure delight. I love every minute of how this fragrance develops, but recently I have gone for red and white tea versions. Love all three of them, and I am really looking forward to getting The Vert back. When I started dating my husband, after we;ve spent the night together I have noticed he had some The Vert toiletries- that just assured me that I have found the right guy;-)

  47. :

All Bvlgari perfumes are the world for its own, with one thing that connects them and that is the tea note. Extreme is also tea based fragrance, with dominancy of citruses and pepper. Mmmm… Gives me sensations on earth, like the particles of dust have been mixed in it. Not in a dirt way.
Extreme is natural and clean as rare scents can be. And a bit creamy. And fluent as air. And best Bvlgari to me.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

I had it, and I liked it enough to finish my bottle! A lovely green, fresh and spicy cologne, but it didn’t last well on my skin. The green tea note is amazing, and appears right from the start. Very pleasant and refreshing, good for hot summer days, but on me a fairly uni-dimensional fragrance.
I would wear it again if given as a gift, but if not, well, I can live without it!

  49. :

    3 out of 5

Eau Parfumee Extreme is a tea themed fragrance with a difference and is the best green tea fragrance I’ve come across so far. This long-lasting eau de toilette is smooth and delicately composed yet powerful blend that works really well with the skin (at least with mine). It isn’t a casual scent, it can be worn to the office or on formal occasions.
It’s a lovely and masterfully blended aromatic composition with citrusy, spicy and floral nuances that give it finesse and sophistication.
The drydown is a woody or rather hay-like aroma that gives the fragrance a smooth and soft finish and the still lingering floral and green which made the dry down refined and round. Two drops from the splash bottle lasted on my skin up to 6 hours so a more general application in the morning should keep you going all day.

  50. :

    3 out of 5

I’m a huge fan of the original Eau de The Vert, so when the Extreme version came out I was right there with money in hand.
I only wear this (and the original) in spring and summer – it’s the epitome of a fresh summer scent. It’s been a constant in my fragrance collection for over ten years, and I still love it. For me, this has become a classic modern fragrance.
And, like many of Bulgari’s bottles (Rose Essentielle, Jasmine Noir, Blu Notte), the Extreme bottle is a true work of artistic excellence.

  51. :

I would agree with mariotgomez’s equation of this with gunpowder green tea, at least at the onset: Peppery, sharp tea, with faint floral notes. Unfortunately, on my skin it fades out into a strange leathery men’s cologne. I get leather, bergamot and a hint of wood, but it is by no means feminine at the end just as it isn’t really masculine at the beginning. This did not work at all well on me and that’s a shame as the notes sound great.

This is my favorite. My sister spritzed me with it over 10 years ago and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I get compliments from men and women alike. I like the extreme best, it lasts longer and smells richer!

As I standing waiting for the bus to arrive, a woman came up to me asking “What fragrance are you wearing?” I informed her that I was wearing Bvlgari Vert Extreme. We spent the rest of the time talking about this fragrance (about 9 minutes) until the bus came.
She told me how amazing this “floral and peppery it smelt.”
I have been drinking gunpowder green tea the last couple of days and felt like wearing a fragrance to match it.
Vert Extreme is one of the few bottles that is almost completely used up in my collection. As I wrote back in 2/06/08, I enjoy wearing it because I always have a different experience when I do. Be it from a complement I receive or how it mixes with my body.
I love how beautifully crafted the jasmine, rose, cardamom and especially the green tea are blended.
After my holiday shopping is completed for the rest of my family, I intend to treat myself to an other bottle for me.
