Description

In collaboration with Coty Prestige, Bottega Veneta, after editions for women Bottega Veneta from 2011 and Bottega Veneta Eau Legere from 2013, is launching the first perfume for men, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme. “My idea was based on the journey of a man leaving region Veneto towards the north, to the dolomites … He reserves time from his full, urban timetable to spend days in a mountain house with icy cold breezes coming from the forest,” says Tomas Meyer, creative director of the brand.

The fragrance is signed by perfumers of the house of Givaudan, Daniela Andrier and Antoine Maisondieu, setting Andalusian labdanum as the key note of the composition set in its base. Top notes refresh us with accords of Calabrian bergamot, pine from Siberia and juniper from the Balkans. The heart adds spicy notes of Jamaican pepper warmed by Canadian fir resins enriched with Mediterranean clary sage, resting on strong Andalusian labdanum, leather and Indonesian patchouli.

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme will be available in a rounded grey flacon made of glass and shaped like the women’s edition. Its stopper contains leather parts. Sales of the new perfume for men are expected from September 2013.
Bottega Veneta Pour Homme was created by Daniela (Roche) Andrier and Antoine Maisondieu.

This is heavy, heavier than what Bruce Willis lifted in Unbreakable when his kid loaded up the weights adding more than he was supposed to add. The sillage is tall, like pikes peak only without the lack of oxygen. Longevity is hundreds of miles over a 24hr period with your windows down. You get cold, you get pine after pine evergreen after evergreen nettle after nettle and other piney green juniper resin things passing by blasting your nasal cavity with piney coniferous rambunctioussness that goes well beyond your pitiful mere-mortal-ability-to-comprehend what you smell. Shutting your nose down until you can restart it with a cup of coffee the next day

Whatever perfumer did this, hit it out the park with this. This stuff is incredible. All so Masculine. Blended expertly. If simple and unique is a genre this is it. I’m pretty sure the top fragrance critics will put this in the top classic line up of Manly Colognes. Smells Modern and Vintage. Its Fresh and So Clean. I love juniper. The Juniper, Pine, patch, and fir combo is so good. This is the scent that you would have to whiff for your self to appreciate what I’m saying. Some say it doesn’t last, get the the extreme if so, its the exact same notes just more of a strike in your face, but it lasts.

Masterpiece. This is a Mans scent, all around casual or dress up scent. One of the few masculine scents thats fresh and will turn heads to a niche or designer nose. I’t doesnt have to use the overly used fruity and sweet notes to grab your attention. Thankfully Daniela andrier didn’t use any powder in this one. I would put this in the top 20 masculine scents of all time.

Now, this! This I thought I would like, given the notes. But all I detected was a very weak bergamot. I don’t like a lot of in-your-face bergamot, so that’s a plus, but I could get even less bergamot if I didn’t wear this at all.

Thanks for the upvote, whoever it was – but I was actually writing about the Extreme version! It’s been transferred there now.

I’m not really a leather fan BUT this is beautiful.Very masculine, refined, classy and due to the above very confident and enthused is how it makes me feel. This is probably my fave leather based scent to date of course mixed with the lovely Juniper Berry and I get some patchouli as I’d know that scent anywhere since I love it. Since I put this on ( 2 sprays on each side of neck and one on each wrist it has lasted me easy 5 something hours and women in the bank and shops were eager to chat with me.
If you want to feel like a man and not a teen THIS is what you wear!
I need to test it a bit more but so far.

I really like this scent, its reminds me of an 80s cologne thats timeless! This scent is a hidden Gem. Im not a huge fan of leather scents but this one i like. Its clean and subtle and Mature. I give it a 7.5 out of 10

I tried bottega veneta pour homme extreme version, which has a good longevity and silage, the scent is very similar, but a little denser and more intense. I prefer the original version because of its lightness, despite of its poor performance. So I have a full 90 ml bottle of the extreme version, and I would trade it for the original version. Write ín private if you are ín.

This is a pure leather fragrance. Longivety and sillage are good
If u’re looking for not complex leather fragrance this would be the right choice.

The appointment of Tomas Maier as Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director can, no doubt, be seen as a major turning point for the company. He’s successfully applied his artistic and aesthetic vision on its overall image as well as its products, including (luckily!) fragrances. I’ve already reviewed Bottega Veneta’s first perfume, which though marketed to women, I find perfectly unisex and, therefore, enjoy wearing myself. Naturally, I was very curious to give “Bottega Veneta Pour Homme” a go.
I’m happy to say the “Pour Homme” version does not lag behind its female counterpart. Upon the first spritz, we are greeted by the zesty note of bergamot. Yet within seconds we leave the orchard and are instead invited for a walk through a forest of evergreen trees and shrubs. There’s no need to hurry, so the pace is relaxed. As our walk draws to an end, we suddenly realise we’ve been wearing a leather jacket, whose smell is effortlessly coupled with (and subdued by) the piney notes.
Honestly, there isn’t an awful lot going on in this fragrance, which is deserving of fair criticism. The blending of its notes, however, creates such a pleasant aroma of easy-going elegance that it has won me over almost instantly. Although I can’t help feeling the final result is a rather curbed and more digestible version of what might have been a much bolder perfume, I still believe this is another solid offering from Bottega Veneta.

Lots of pine, a wonderful and promising start for a male perfume, oozing maturity and class. Unfortunately the top notes disappear very quickly and it turns out to a skin perfume with just 1h of longevity. Quite disappointing for a fragrance from such a house and with this price tag.
*This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

This is a wonderful leather scent ,the leather here is so genuine, smell expensive . If you are looking for leather based scent that is versatile and you can wear all year round and smell luxurious go for this one , projection is good and longevity is very good.

This is the kind of DNA that could become a respected classic in 10 years from now. It radiates seriousness and class. Just let it settle down for 10 minutes to get out of the little harsh beginning and it shows its understated but certain class. I love pine and leather and they both are prominent in this one.

I have to change my previous review, I originally called it soapy and forgettable, but in retrospect I am not sure what I was thinking. It does have like a fresher spicy feel with a light leather. Very confidant and elegant. I really enjoy the leather-pepper-juniper combo that gives it almost a realistic black pepper feel. The pepper I feel is more of a capsaicin spicy pepper than the sweet red pepper I usually associate with the word pimento, but could just be a language thing. Either way, nice and warm spicy and still with a clean feel. Doesnt project well or last that long, but smells great so I like to carry spray samples around.

This is not a ground breaking scent to say the least, but it has it’s strengths. First the medicinal, citrusy, coniferous opening is beautifully retro. The middle notes really sing as well. The red chili peeks through assisted by the sage. The real stars in my opinion are the juniper and canadian fir, that when framed by the bergamot harmonize to create a real botanical scent. The only drawback to this fragrance is the fact that its dry down is anti climactic, and almost absent. I like this fragrance and its a killer in the spring time. BVPH is relaxed, stylish and nods to retro scents, but fails to come through on the dry down and in performance. This fragrance feels incomplete but the opening and mid are definitely worth a try.

Wow. Tested today this remind me of tom ford Italian cypress. Slightly leathery more green notes. But dry down smells exactly like Italian cypress. Great performance but not overpowering. Great for fall and cooler weather. Night out type of scent. I get about 6 to 8 hours of performance.

I don’t think I’ve ever had worse longevity from a fragrance. And especially not one with notes as ‘heavy’ as this one ( Leather and Galbanum- there is no patchouli here regardless of it being listed in the notes). Smells great, very natural and masculine/virile but I get 90 minutes ( much of the time less ) and poof. I kept testing and testing, reapplying and reapplying hoping for better but it is what it is. There is a reason people are selling their bottles.

I didn’t expect that so many negative reviews here.
I’m really in love with this one!
At first I didn’t like it. I was at a department store. I tried this one on the card and somehow almost immediately I found some thing stinky…(Before this one I tried several other scents) I gave it a pass immediately. However for some reason I kept thinking about it when I got back and after reading some positive reviews here, I decided to give it a try due to the concept I received. I bought it and tested it again on my skin at home. I found that the “stinky” smell which I detected at first time was probably just the pine with very strong performance. However it became smooth shortly and then came a period which reminds me the same feeling and smell in Dolce and Gabbana The one Eau de Parfum which I dislike.(I guess this is the reason why some people complain it chemical ?) Fortunately this period disappeared in a short time as well. Then became the most beautiful and elegant scent I’ve ever smelt! It is indeed very well blended! I found some people says it reminds Tom Ford Oud Wood on the page. I absolutely agree with that! Bottega Pour Homme is light yet truly profound whilst Tom Ford Oud Wood is stronger and bitter. Though they are on the same trend in my opinion. They both remind me the smell of oriental herb medicine store in some way which is not a bad thing. Tom Ford is more unique whereas Bottega is more wearable, versatile and classy.
The performance of Bottega Pour Homme isn’t bad. The longevity is decent, and sillage is only moderate. which is, however, makes it in a classy, non-offensive and delightful way. I have no regret to buy this one without testing it for long. More than that, I’m so fear that if they will discontinue it some day that I will need to buy more to stock up to make sure it will stay with me as long as possible.
This is truly an underestimated gem!

Bottega Veneta is a scent for the alpine man who wishes to leave behind the urban environment while maintaining a sophisticated spirit. Andalusian labdanum sets the scene while Siberian pine and fir resins transport you to woods.

I really like this. It smells the way i would imagine a really sophisticated and dapper european gentleman would smell. Its not aggressive or watery and sporty like most of the offerings for men at the moment, it’s a beautiful combination of Juniper, Fir and a really sexy leather note which seems to smolder on my skin. I think if you want something that is inherently quite masculine but well made and very pleasant and easy to wear then i would suggest this.

Finally got it after looking for a year for it ! It feels classy, natural, non offensive in a well blended way ; like a gentleman. It sits closer to the skin but sometimes a great perfume doesn’t have to shout out loud !

Bottega Pour Homme, it is very well balanced.
Aromatic and green tones, somewhat herbal since its opening makes this fragrance as a modern and versatile leather in my opinion.
There is a fruity touch of juniper, for me, makes this scent to please most people, it blends well with pine, which creates a green but spicy aromatic chord, and still brings a cold feeling, a formidable freshness.
Drying the leather appears, but nothing too heavy, it’s almost a white leather used much nowadays, refers to a suede and may also have a sort of musky tone, probably the labdanum
A modern leather perfume, original no doubt, but the best, versatile!

    Just bought a bottle!
Bottega Veneta Homme is fresh and green. Non offensive, not per se extremely recognizable, but very well executed. It smells natural and pleasant. Smooth and lush afe words that come to my mind as well. I can’t see why someone wouldn’t like this!
I have had the association with banana when smelling BVH. Yes, you read that right: banana. Anyone else?
In a good way, but still weird! 🙂
I haven’t had a proper wear yet (only on wrist), but the only downside I predict is below moderate projection an longevity. I hope I’m wrong, will report back then!
    8/10
Edit: longevity is decent. Warning: don’t overspray as you will get a butter-like smell, which isn’t pleasant. It’s the same butter smell I het with Dior Homme Sport.

Very masculine. The evergreen notes are strong in the beginning. This fragrance stays close to the skin all day, no need to reapply. I like it for serious occasions. I think it smells very mature. This fragrance reminds me a lot of the original polo green. But as an updated version that is less overbearing.

This is a rich and sumptuous fragrance I could see myself wearing with suit and tie. There is a sweet medicinal quality to the opening which I do not find off-putting, in fact it is rather appealing. After that, like some others have mentioned, I have difficulty identifying the individual notes. But I find the merged result of all combined elements quite dazzling. Really smooth. I don’t find it very green or foresty, to my nose.
Not at the top of my purchase list, but definitely something I would like to have in my wardrobe at some stage for work and formal occasions. A classy and sophisticated scent.

It seems to me that B PH is a somewhat underrated fragrance, since under that smooth and simple appearance a wonderful fragrance daytime use, where the aroma maintains a timeless character, even say classic, but with a young heart hides beating with great force.
fresh and pleasant opening of bergamot that quickly evolves into a very aniseed aromatic according undeclared could be basil or anise that reaches the final drying and gives a very special character to B PH, various woods come with a note of pine marked and a soft leather very good quality for designer, at the start of the drying notice a slight imbalance when acting note a powerful ladano maintaining a tangy drunkenness composition and this can make it a little tiresome for sensitive noses, but without ever reaching the hot flash. All the combo produces a feeling of being in a high mountain forest surrounded by animals and large trees.
A whole new classic, with very good quality to be designer, who has positively surprised by the sharpness of its composition and hopefully not go unnoticed and become more fragrance.

Leathery aromatic typical Italian gentleness; smooth and kind, almost bit boring, but the pine accord save the grey mood and give spirit to the perfume. Likeable masculine juice for rainy but sunny days.

My husband got a sample of this and did not liked it but i think it is quite good.
This is what i imagine a spanish or italian young businessman wearing while driving a sport car in the mountains. Tomas Meyer described this fragrance very well.
This one is masculine without being aggressive. it actually has a very nice sweet aroma in the drydown that i really enjoy.
Overall it´s modern, classy and cool. Something for a secure gentleman.

PINE! So good. In the house I grew up in, there was a big pine tree in the backyard so this scent hits close to home. It’s so refreshing to have a modern release with pine being one of the primary notes. Thankfully, the leather note echoes in the base and does not interfere with the resinous forest-like nature of the scent. Thumbs up.

Right off the bat, it instantly reminded me of the vintage Fendi Fendi Uomo! but this one is a little softer and a little more contemporary. Soft, spicy and elegant, this is a good one…and still for those longing for the classic and impossible to find Fendi and all of its spicy goodness, this one is an ideal replacement.

I had been interested in trying this one out for a while but never came across it.. I finally happened to stumble into a beautiful bottle of this Bottega Veneta Pour Homme at Nordstoms, so I sprayed it on the tester strip.. After sniffing it out the sale assistant gave me a sample, so I wore it once I got the chance. Bottega Veneta opens up with a nice fresh coniferous blast of pine and juniper.. The pine really smells great in the opening, but soon the leather comes right in to take over.. The leather is there from top to bottom and it is what this scent is all about.. Once the top notes dry the scent warms up and gets a bit darker.. There is a nice fir note in the heart, some sage, and a decent amount of pimento which adds a spicy edge to the scent.. In the base there is some labdanum which adds a slight resinous vibe, some patchouli and of course the leather.. Bottega Veneta is another one of those scents that smells very classic but in a very modern way, and I love that! This is a very simple scent, it is kind of linear but it still does smell really nice.. I definitely could see Bottega Veneta being a great signature scent for a man that just wants to smell “good”.. Very classy, very sophisticated, and very masculine.. I recommend Bottega Veneta to the men who appreciate classic fragrances but still want to smell modern, without smelling like your average aquatic or sweet sugar bomb.. This is a very good fragrance that deserves more attention than it is receiving.. I really do enjoy it!

This is a modern way to present the old school of male perfumes , forgetting to focus on sillage and longevity .
It is really a nice perfume but not present u smell it on ur skin when u want but never from far .
Leathery touch made it tender and intimate and i believe this is the soul of the perfume .
Bottle itself is really classically elegant as always Bottega used to show .

I get a lot of patch in this one. In fact, that’s mostly what I get. I don’t get any leather and the pine isn’t that prominent either. Very boring and lasts for nothing on my skin. This is a big pass for me.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

Masculine class in a bottle. Ulusia said it best when they said this “reminds me of good taste”. Harking back to some of our favorite masculine scents of the past but with a newfound modern edginess, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is one of the most satisfying and interesting masculine releases in years. It’s also one of the most wearable.
Boreal forests filled with pine and fir trees, accented by a fine leather note with traces of labdanum, citruses and a little patchouli are what I get from this. Not incredibly challenging or complex, but well executed and very pleasing. Imagine a leathery version of Tom Ford’s excellent Italian Cypress sans the later amber drydown and you wouldn’t be far off.
Some harp on this for it’s strength, but I’ve never experienced performance issues – I wore this yesterday and applied to my clothes it was still going and projecting enough for me to get whiffs of it even 16 hours later. Projection is moderate, but longevity is excellent.
I should note that among non-fragrance heads this scent gets stellar ratings. It’s a people pleaser similar to the way Bleu de Chanel is, but for many could be a much more unique and rebellious choice.
Thumbs up, definitely a try or buy.

I definitely get pine/fir/resin but no leather or patchouli. No matter. It smells beautiful but I have been a bit disappointed with the strength. Checked this today and found it excellent….i love it….it’s light, natural and very foresty. This is not a leather fragrance as i find it more towards pine and fir with some resinious light sweetness. I love this kind of perfumes that are not sweet or ending sweet after the initial foresty touch. You feel like you just cut and have on your schoulders a small fir as a christmas tree and the air is coming from the back.
Excellent, not strictly unique, mature fragrance

This isn’t the greatest fragrance, but it is the finest in my view. It’s well blended, simple, and truly a quality product that does not scream, because it is too smooth for that. I will add it to my fragrance wardrobe one day.

A lady at the post office told me I smelled really good and asked me what I was wearing. That sealed it for me, I haven’t been asked what cologne I’m wearing for a long time. Will buy it when I can.
This is a gentleman’s fragrance. Not for clubbing or sport.

Bottega Veneta pour Homme hasn’t been easy to find, but I eventually got to sample it today. I had already read some good reviews in French, so I was definitely willing to put my nose on it.
It was a quite nice surprise: it starts off with a somehow herbaceous and spicy pine scent, to finally dry down into a sour and intense leather note with a very noticeable soapy feeling.
A classy, dark and heavy fragrance that is quite original actually. I do get a bit of the ‘barbershop’ vibe, common with some fragrances by Prada.
Sadly longevity is just average, sillage just fine. Besides, the bottle looks really good.
    Overall, an interesting discovery.

Lots of pros & cons about this one… but for my part I love it.
Dark, crisp, clean & fresh at the same time. A light heavyweight!
It doesn’t reinvent the wheel but it has the merit of bringing something different right now. People complain about sillage, but – no – you won’t be smelled miles away, but at the end of the day you’ll still get little glimpse of scents coming from under your shirt or wherever you put it.
For me, that’s exactly what i’m looking for in a fragrance. I want to notice it without others being invaded by it.
I try not to test anything in the store. There are so many things that can change perceptions. I prefer trying samples at home at the beginning of the day and take time to see it’s reaction. This one left me indifferent in the store when it came out, but tried it at home and was impressed by the difference on paper and on skin. The line of products (after-shave balm, etc.) is also great!
Love it or hate it… just as long as you’re happy with what you wear!

I only got a sample vial from this one. And will never get a full one.
Yes, the leather note actually has a real leather feeling to me (where other leather perfumes don´t reach that goal) but it is a) rather faint and b) paired with lots of musk, at least this is what I´m smelling. I even get some traces of detergent-like musks. So it´s something like a piece of leather laying on a freshly washed pillowcase in the wardrobe. That´s basically what I get when the top notes disappear completed with a light pepper note. So yes, I don´t smell much of the heart and base notes shown in the perfume pyramid, but instead two notes that aren´t listed. Funny, isn´t it?
In the opening I get some pine and other conifer notes plus a tiny bit of bergamot (that thanks to the gods seems to be gone as soon as the alcohole dryed).
I must say that this leather on pillowcase with a bit of pepper scent stays quite a while (3 maybe 4 hours), so I wouldn´t say the longevity is all to poor (which doesn´t mean it couldn´t be better), but it stays close to the skin after half an hour up to an hour. To close.
It wouldn´t be all to bad for the scent itselt, I even think I could wear it when I´m not in the mood for all to complex and/or difficult fragrances, but the sillage is way to soft and that´s why this fragrance will not find its way on my shelf.

OMG! Now I realised what it REALLY reminds me of.
It has some similar gourmand vibes with Code, but, it’s a copy of Prada Luna Rossa Extreme to me.

At first I detected really nice woodsy notes that became smoky/leathery/piney – very pleasant! Promising! However, this phase lasted for all of about a half hour, then it got faint. I’m writing just over an hour after I sprayed it on, and I can barely smell it on my shirt. This stuff doesn’t even last on fabric, let alone skin.
Bottega Veneta: I barely knew ye!
As another reviewer wrote, this has tragically bad projection and longevity. It’s yet another timid fragrance in a market saturated with fragrances that don’t project and don’t last. Punch up the concentration a bit and maybe we’ll have something to work with…

Actually I started to like the fir in it. I like fir in perfumes, especially the fir resin.
Nevertheless I won’t ever buy it because of its tragically bad projection and longevity.
    Still, a pass.

    It fades so quickly!

I agree this is a boring fragrance – to me it smells like Armani’s Code with a little bit addition of pine, fir and juniper. Kinda’ like “Code in the forest” or something.
Longevity is very poor – 2-3 hours and it quickly fades away. Sillage is poor as well.
The price of this fragrance in my country is very high and I totally don’t understand this.
A pass. Not worth even sniffing out, actually…

    *YAWN*
BORING. They should have stuck with an independant perfumer intead of going with Coty Prestige. This juice is as cookie-cutter as it gets.

This one is a nice and elegenat all-purpose fragrance: It suits grown-up men but can also be worn by youngsters, it is neither displaced at the opera nor at the office, and it is suitable for all seasons. Maybe more elegant than loud, but nevertheless a reliable companion on all occasions.

I though I’d reviewed this a while ago, but perhaps not on this site. On paper, this seemed to carry some interest in that it smelled more complex that the standard mall fragrances (a resinous, leathery thing). On skin, though, it was absolutely horrendous: plastic-y juniper berries over a sort of sweaty, vegetal sawdust-over-vomit accord. The women’s version was excellent, but this was an herbal, chemical nightmare on me. With that said, I think the blend itself was the main problem as I simply can’t stand the kind of coniferous chemicals it’s using. Stomach-turning, I’m afraid.
If it’s culinary herbs you’re after, look to O’Driú instead.

    First impression candy-store 🙂 I don’t mean sweet.
Btw pine is the most dominant note.

This is, dare I say it, a possible offspring of Patou Pour Homme.
For those of you who don’t know what Patou Pour Homme is – it’s a highly sought-after vintage men’s fragrance that is greatly regarded and revered in the fragrance community, and known for being a truly unique smell, fetching extremely high prices on eBay.
Now, Patou Pour Homme is still unique in its own right, but some of that DNA is here. Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is a lovely modern chypre, which could have been expected perhaps, since Bottega Veneta (women’s) is a gorgeous old-fashioned female chypre. Whoever is deciding to market the fragrances for this house must love chypres.
Alright, so as I was saying, we have, at least to me, a masculine chypre here, and a chypre by nature is based on the accord bergamot-labdanum-oakmoss, or more generally, citrus-resin-oakmoss. There isn’t any oakmoss in the ingredients, and I don’t get any citrus, but I don’t necessarly need to, as the “chypre” smell itself leaps out of the bottle at me, a sort of cross between Halston Z-14 and Kiehl’s Pour Homme Essence Oil. And, believe it or
