Description

Botanical Essence No.9, launched in 2016, captures the unique energy of moments after a rainstorm, as the clouds part and the sun begins to warm the forest floor. It “takes the wearer on a mysterious olfactive journey right to the fragrant heart of a lush and verdant landscape, laden with the scent of ripened berries.”

“This evocative modern scent contrasts the warmth of a traditional chypre with the rich succulence of dark forest fruits. Juicy top notes of blackcurrant bud are complemented by crisp bergamot and vibrant red ginger. Beyond, a heart of velvety rich osmanthus is offset by the intense exoticism of Damask rose and smooth patchouli. Created around a base of woody oakmoss and Haitian vetiver, enveloped within the warmth of vanilla. Over 90% derived from natural ingredients.”

Top Notes: Blackcurrant bud, Bergamot, Red ginger
Heart: Osmanthus, Damask rose, Patchouli
Base: Haitian vetiver, Oakmoss, Vanilla

The bottle is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum spray.

This reminds me a bit of Yves Saint Laurent Elle, but fruitier…similar feel & structure (fresh/patchouli). Really, I just wanted to say what a great realistic fruity/blackcurrant note this scent has. I think they got it just right because it’s juicy sweet/sour & tart, without verging into “fruit syrup” or pungent “cat pee” territory. It has really captured the pitch & tang of the real thing, I think.
I like this for Autumn & almost used up the entire bottle last year. It’s less sweet & quite distinctive & different from the popular sugary/fruity/patchouli combos. It’s a nicely done perfume with some character, if you’d like an autumnal berry patchouli. I will probably re-buy this, too.
Edit to add: For a perfume that has “over 90% derived from natural ingredients” it is surprisingly rich/strong – no chemical fug here, & nothing wishy-washy about this one either. The more I wear it, the more I like it. Liz Earle perfumes are pretty good, & underrated, imo.
