The only thing I can say in defense of VS on this “new” fragrance (which is totally the original Bombshell & not new at all) is that they don’t even seem to have let their staff in on the game. (I asked, during the clearance sale where they were marking the Shanghai down, if Bombshell ever went on sale & was told “no”.)
I like VS fragrances, this one in particular, but I don’t like shady marketing. Especially when they had such a golden opportunity to create a Chinese-influenced flanker! (Or even a totally new fragrance, just cynically released under the Bombshell name, like they did with Paris.)
Only bright side: I scored a full-size bottle of Bombshell, with angel wings, for cheap.

Okay, I haven’t smelled Shanghai 2017. But when they had the runway in Paris a year ago, they released VS Paris Eau de Parfum (the name was quickly switched to Bombshell Paris). It’s a airy, powdery, floral spin on the original. It’s still being sold now.
So now they release this, and it IS the original. I don’t like marketing tricks. The first place I read about Shanghai 2017 was a blog and they made it seem like it was different. They were “comparing” it to the original Bombshell. They listed the notes but threw one or two left-fielders in the note mix.
I see that VS did mention this scent: “Our #1 fragrance is ready to hit the runway in a limited-edition bottle.” But in the pre-release advertising, I saw that nowhere.
You know, if they actually had a scent to put in this bottle, it would have sold pretty well. Are they that hard-up? I love VS and I’m sad to see that kind of marketing. I’m glad I research fragrances before buying them.
P.S. Above, it says, “This is a new fragrance.” 🙁

I recieved a bottle of Bombshell Shanghai as a gift and thought that it smelled like the original Bombshell, so earlier I had Bombshell on one wrist and Bombshell Shanghai on the other. Conclusion = it’s totally the same fragrance in scent, sillage & longevity, so you are just getting the same thing in a different coloured bottle.
I’m not saying that Bombshell isn’t a nice fragrance or that the new bottle isn’t attractive, but I’m a bit annoyed that VS is trying to trick people into buying the same perfume twice – especially as they’ve released it in the festive lead-up. I wonder how many people have bought it as a gift for someone, thinking that they’ve spent their money on something new for a loved one?

“Your favorite Bombshell fragrance in a collectible runway-ready bottle”……so this is just the Bombshell scent in a different bottle.

Smells wonderful! I love the mix of passionfruit and peony on it!
